Project Description

Depth and Place: A new way of photographing your favorite locations.

Depth of field is a powerful and creative tool in photography. You can isolate a single subject or have everything in the frame tack-sharp. For this assignment we’re going to explore a location that we love (our city, neighborhood, home, etc.). Using depth of field, we’ll make a short series about this place: two images that share details using a shallow depth of field and two images showing the large picture using a wide depth of field.

Deliverables:

  • Choose a special location and tell us about it in the project gallery
  • Produce two detail images using shallow depth of field
  • Produce two overview images using wide depth of field
  • Upload your images with a brief description of your place

Example:

My favorite place, the Adirondack State Park.
