1. Introduction: Welcome everybody. I'm so pleased that you decided to join me for this new course. Today, we will have a look at the basics in French. What you start to learn as a beginner. At the end of this course, you will know how to use French greetings. You will know how to introduce yourself by saying your name, telling you age and where you live. You will also be able to talk about your family, your friends, and you pet. And you will be able to describe people and things around you. We will have a look at how to create question in French. And finally, we will create a dialogue with all the new vocabulary we would have learned today. So thank you for joining me again. Now let's get started. 2. Greetings: Now let's have a look at the different greetings that you can use in French. Means hello. Cuckoo means high, they're cuckoo. Sally means high, Center. But now we're going to have a good afternoon. And you can see that I've put burn weave in brackets. I put the enemy is just to set that up claiming the afternoon infringe also is also feminine and masculine. That's where you can use either BON as masculine or feminine. Then we have SWACH. Good evening. Voussoir. But me, goodnight. But, but Jony Have a nice day. Bonjour ni. Now we can see, we have to see you soon. Ibm to produce. See you later. See you very soon. At equilibrium. At VT_2. See you very soon as well. At Clippy onto now we have all of law. Goodbye. As certain portion. See you next week. And assume and pushing add-ons on what are those lamb will see you next month. Add-ons now. And then I'll end the Potion. Potion. See you next year. Now let's have a look at how we said, how are you. In French? We got different ways of saying it. The first one is colon server, which literally means hated going como server. Then you can shorten it and say server. And then the other two ways of saying it is comb-over. Oh, come on, thallium, comb-over to come on telly. And the difference between the two and the rule is because two is more informal or more formal. You usually use to, when it's people you know, and you know, the happy for you to use to with them. It's also people that are younger than you never use too to someone you don't know and someone days all the venue. That's that would be seen as very rude, then who is more formal and is for people that are older than you. So if you've got any doubt, always, always use just in case. And I wouldn't make a course with more explanation about it later. But for now, just follow those simple rules. Now how do we answer? So you can set server or suburbia. I'm fine. I'm a good or southern wider. So, so sad, Andy. It's alright. Or Sava man. I'm OK. I'm not that good. And other greeting to know when you're on the phone. We don't say hello as Bourgeois that we just saw. We said ALU. Then you can learn. It's nice to see you. Cephei pleasure, the Cephei, please hear the work. It's been ages. Sappy, sappy. Bang. It's been awhile. Sufi local, fluffy, locked up. Nice to meet you. Ashanti. Ashanti. Thank you. Massey. Massey. And you can answer by your welcome. Darja. O. But qua, doing is much more common. But you can use both. And then we'll learn mister sir, which is infringed. Must you be careful with the pronunciation? Oh, and in Monsieur is not only like we've seen before, it's an exception, it's BU, Monsieur. Then per alsos myths. You miss you. Madam, Madame. Miss man mindset. The next part is because in France we shake hands and Wikis on the chick. Like a lot. We literally kiss on the cheek when we say high, when people, when we say goodbye to people, when we say goodnight to people. And we also want to say thank you. But sometimes we're handshake and sometime Wikis on the cheek. So first of all, let's have a look at some vocabulary. To hand check in French is certainly landmark. And the handshake is in one-year them. Next to kiss someone's, someone under chick is like bees. And what children you can set found BZ. Now, when do we actually shake hands and when do we can sum the Jake? So when we shake hands, it's usually two men would shake hands sometime they can kinda check, but it's usually they usually shake hands when it's people you don't know or you don't know where you would shake their hands for interviews and for appointments? When do we kiss on the cheek? Usually when it's family. Usually women to women would kiss on the cheek rather than shaking hands like men. And if a person wants to kiss on the cheek, you follow the lead. It's really worth if you refuse to do it. And then also how many kisses on the cheek, where it depends on people. Some people have a preference. It depends on where you are in France, because usually it's two. But if it, if you are in sophist of France, it would be more likely to three. And this, if you go south, it's usually three, but sometimes it can be for as well. But as a rule, it's two and then follow the lead of the person. 3. Introduce Yourself: Now we are going to have a look at how we introduce ourselves. The first step is to say your name. So how do we ask? You can say common tap into comb-over zap label, kiloton printer, kilowatt hoping, remember I'm showing both ways with two and root. So depending on the person you have to use, the informal to formal rule, it depends on who you're talking to. And then you ends up map and Sarah. Oh, so let's have a look at the question again. What's your name in French is come on tap L2, comb-over Zappa, 2p. Credit on printer, kilowatt hot. And the answers. My name is Sarah remapping Zaha. Also. Here is some vocabulary that you can learn. The firstName in French is on Kindle. Surname is literally a family name. A nickname is Uno. And then a middle name is, and museum. And just to mention it, a middle name literally means a second name. So if you have a couple of middle names, we wouldn't say your second name and then your firm name. We will call them second names. It's because the second you firstname, if that makes sense. Now, how do you tell u, h k lambda two, k leisure? And you answer Jeevan cat home. Let's look at the question again. How old are you? Can leisure to collage 2p. And you answer, I'm 24 years old. For example. Jeevan cats. Here is more vocabulary to learn. Old Age in French, is Levy, Yes. Youth, goodness. To be young, adhesion, to be old. At agey. A young man or young woman, engine Pfam, a teenager if it's a man. And that though they sell teenager if it's sukha assault. And then the person in person ADG. Now, how do you tell where you live? So you can ask, ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh, debit of Hans. Let's have a look at the question again. Where do you live? Ooh, ooh, ooh. And you answer. I live in Paris in prose, for example, JB, App Annie of homes. Here's more vocabulary to learn as well. So how do you say in a house, don't do Mason. Mason in a flat. Don't end up in a studio to you. In a CT, which is also in a town downstream V2, in a village or village abroad and lived at my parents. She may buckle mine. Chamois. I chose sheep, TWA, at home, alum Islam. And a quick note about the red preposition you need to use before a city or a country. So four CT, you use up. So for example, up alone, which is London, New York. So that's when you're using the city you use up. Then when you talking about a country, you can use 000 plural. Oh, so you've got three different one. And there's a reason why. The first one, it's when you have the feminine country. So for instance, of it because we said laugh Haas is feminine. And if you have a country that starts with a vowel, like Australia, on those tally, you use r as well. So all feminine country or a country that starts with a vowel, then you can use o if it's a masculine country. So a u, o is for a singular. A UX is for plural. Example, or singular. Wu, Japanese. Because we said look Japanese. Technically within the japanese and the masculine plural, we have visitors Union, United States. Because we said the United States as well, we use the verb and the other is left, which is plural. So remember, r plus feminine country or countries starting with vowel. O is a mascot in-country, plural or singular. 4. Talk About Pets: Now we're going to have a look at how you can talk about your pets. So let's have a look at some vocabulary. So first of all, an animal or pet is an animal. When plural, the SS anymore. You can also say, and then email domestic for a bet. If you want to be a bit more specific and put a plural, the Zen MIMO, domestic pets. Now we're going to have a look at how you can talk by your pets. So let's have a look at some vocabulary. So first of all, an animal or pet is anonymous and pleural disease anymore. You can also say, and then email domestics for a bet. If you want to be a bit more specific and put the plural, the SS anymore, domestic pets. Let's have a look at all the different bits. Bet you own is not in the list. Feel free to ask me in the course discussion villa. So let's start with a dog, which is unsure if we're talking about a main Doug, plural, the shell. And if it's a female, it changes to Shen and plural the Shen Xiang De Xiang, Qin Shen De Shen. Now for a cat, a cat ease, shop, plural, the shot. And if it's a female in shadow. Plural, the shaft. This shaft, when shaft, this shaft. Now let's have a look at a fish. A fish is on Poisson. Plural, the Poisson. But turtle in to2 plural, the torch. Then I've put different rodents that you can have as pets. A hamster is, I'm step. Again, a pig is. And Cushman Dam, which literally mean a pig, pig from India. A rat, a mouse in SUV, a chinchilla, and shun Sheila. And for those where I didn't put a feminine or masculine or digits one, it's because that's the way you said for either male or female. And let's have a look at birds. The bird is and what X2 birds, Piero, This was not a host is shovel, horses. The shovel. Be careful of the pro It's an exception. It's a bit different. It just doesn't take an S, it's o. And then a man is Zhuo, males, the GMO. Now let's practice and combined what we've been learning. You can create your own sentences as well with the following example. You have a sentence if a pet is a male and you have one if it's a female, and then if you talking for more than one animal, okay, so I've created some examples. So Feinstein, let's talk about a male animal. And let's say more Xiang, sepal and Rex, ala Caesar, which means my dog is called Rex and E6 years old. Let's try it with a female GMO. Among that, ALS Suncorp, which means my map is called Amanda. And she is five years old. And it's right at the plural Mei Guo Xue sepal TT, Loyola. It was all. Which means my birds are called Tiki and Lola. And they are 23 years old. So you can practice and use those sentences, have put and fill them up with the animal you earn their name and their age. So it's wage practice as well. 5. Talk About Family & Friends: Let's talk about family and friends. But first, it's always good to learn some vocabulary related to the subject. And you'll notice that I will add a lot of vocabulary as we build up the numbers of words you know, and you don't have to learn all of them in one go. You can learn five words today I wanted to do what's best for you is just for you to learn more and more words in French. So let's have a look at some vocabulary. First, the family is left banning the husband. Lumosity or the spouse live CPU. The wife, left thumb, Leap. Who's the spouse? Has one. Partners. Li Xuan, a friend, and then me. So masculine, feminine. A friend can also be on coupon. In cooking is just a little bit more familiar. Friends leads them. Lead co-found, leads them, lead Copia. So Sam King, masculine, one side feminine, the other side. Friendship is, let me cheat. And then if you want to say a boyfriend, it's particular pump o coupon. A girlfriend in Copia, or in cooking. You can use both. Now let's have a look at all the family members. The parents leave, PAHO, the father. That that loop, BAPTA, the mother, the mother, La Mama, the grandparents, the copa Hall, the grandfather. Blue compare the grandmother lag home math to great-grandparents. Leads Zambia compound. I said I want to get leads that are comparable to great-grandfather Latvia. And the great grandmother. Lion, calmer. As you can see, they follow the same pattern. Then we have bianco, which is low. The amount is dumped, lead topped. The cousin. So if it's a man or boy, look cuz now. But if it's a girl or a woman, the lab cuisine. The nephew is the nice landing, yes. The brother, Lou crack. The half-brother. Dummy for f. And then the system, the half-sister, that dummy cell. The child long thought. The Sun Lu phis. So be careful with this one. We don't pronounce the M. Lose. The daughter, left via the grandson. Look pretty feasts. The granddaughter lab put it. The gut son will feel. The goddaughter. Vl, The Godfather. Look Baja, the godmother, Lamarckian. So I've created example again. And we're going to start with the first one is about the grandfather. So I'm going to read it. More. Sub-band pulled a croissant, which means my grandfather is called pore and is 83 years old. It leaves in mass. A second example for a woman. Sub-band. Ali Cameron puzzle. Elaborate on Belzec. My mother is called and she's 43 years old. She leaves in Belgium. And the last example is for more than one person. So I'm talking about my cousins. May cuisine. Set bell. Nikola imagining is on this endosome exhibit, those in misery. My cousin, I call Nikola and Mary. And there are 1012 years old. They live in a house. So now you can also create your own sentences. With those example, you have to put a family member, their name, their age, and where they live so you can choose a CT, a country because we've seen how to do this. 6. Description: So now let's have a look at how you can describe things and people. I've put some simple way to start describing something or someone has you start your sentence. So if you want to say he ease, you said 11. Let for example, e Lei kong is told if it's a woman, she is and let LA blonde, she is blocked. Then if you talking about object, it is, it's Cebu. It's beautiful. And then if you want to mention, something, varies, there are, it's the same one in French. We only have one Ilia. Ilia, Ilia shop. There is a cat in yet this Xiang Dao dogs. For a description, you are going to need to know the colors which we call the cooler infringe. So let's learn some columns. The first one is red, which is, it's pronounced the same for masculine, feminine, and pro-war. But I've put different example. Pillow Bush, a red jumper. The bush read jumpers, uno ha Bush, a red dress. They're horrible Bush red dresses. So you can hear all plural feminine, masculine sounds the same. It's, you only have to mark the Pro with an S. Next one is blue. Blue. Asked to yellow blue. A blue pen. This steel blue blue pens in shares. Blue, a blue chair. They shed blue, blue chips. Something all you hear is blue. You can't hear the masculine or feminine and plural, it's blue. But if you want to mock the plural otherness, if you wanna mark the feminine, you add. Next one. Black is Na. Xiang Hua a black dog. The Shang Hua black dogs who invest in LA, a black jacket. The investor NWA, black jackets, something you call here it NWA. To mock the plural, you add an S to mark the feminine. You add. Next one. White is blocked. Blocked. And can you blow up a white truck? The cameo on block. White trucks, masculine block. But then when it's the feminine, it changes a little bit and it becomes Blanche. Blanche, thus blanch, a white murky. Thus, blush white mugs. So to mock the Baroque, you add an S to mock the feminine. It changes in CH e and you can hear it. So I'll just print out both below. Launch. Next one is yellow and T-shaped j1, a yellow T-shirt. The T-shaped Zhuan yellow T-Shirts version, a yellow sculpt. The Egyptian. Yellow skips. To map the Pro, you add an s. And then masculine. Feminine is the same and you only hear Xun. No difference. Next one, green, is there. Agreement could the motto green quotes? And then it changes with the feminine because welding the 0s and we can hear it by doing say, a green leaf. The green leaves. So I pronounce buf there, then there. Then next one is brown. Marvel. And I'm going to show the next one I'm going to because they've got the assemble. So those two they don't change if it's feminine or masculine, and they don't change if it's plural, so you don't even have to put an S, So it's exactly the same. All the way through. The brand cardigan. The GNA Mao prank out against, in tabular model, a brown table. The tablet Mao brand tables. So C ES, nothing at the end. It just stays the same. Bellow. And Orange Bowl. The bang, launch orange balls. We'll launch an orange stress. They have wash or interests is something known as nothing at the end. Stage disease. Next one is pink. Pink is Paulo who's a pink bullshit. The polo hose. Pink polo shirts. In chemise hose, a pink shirt. The shoots your whole pink shoes. So it's December hose. Plural, masculine, feminine. You only hear a hose. We just add an S at the end when it's plural. Next one is grey, getting, getting a grant, red, green, gray rats. Now careful for the feminine. We had an IEP. So you can hear it in for a great fork. The fortune. Great folks. So I pronounce both. Gree agree is getting grades. Next one is purple view. Let chapeau view like a purple hat. The chapeau viola. Purple hats. And careful for the feminine, we add e at the end and we can hear it in bag a, preparing the bag view let, peppering opponents both. Viola TO let your let. And the last one is page which is badge. On Kusama badge, a bash question. The Kusama badge, badge, cushions in lump banish, a Bayesian lap. The lump badge, page lamps. Sounds the same. You're only otherness when it's proven. Now let's have a look at some more vocabulary that you can add, some adjectives that you can use. Small two t, put it. So something putting the masculine and feminine after, you just need to add in bracket is the pro MAC if she needed. So I said again, small petty. Put it more prep it put my brother is more tool, is calm. Ground. Mammary. Click on. My mother is very tall. Beautiful. Bow. Bella, my thumb. My wife is beautiful. Pretty. Julie. Julie sounds the same, but we're then he went and swimming in. My fee usually my daughter is pretty ugly. Is mush. Mv, what's your a mush? My car is a nice, jokey. John three. Zhaung-zi. My parents are nice. Minow. Ms. shop may shunt moshe emission. My cat is mean. Old view VA. I repeat this one because it's a bit more complicated. View. Va monarchs in at my computer is old. And then the next one, it depends on the context. So for new, if you mean as brand new, you have to use Nerf or nervous. As my car is brand new. Mov watch your inner being shim in something that is new in your life. In each use, Nouveau or nouvelle. Well, what you, I have a new car. It doesn't mean it's brand new issues. It's a new thing in your life. And I've added a last example to put those both new in. In the example. Nouvelle watch, you know, I have a new car that is brand new. So you can see the difference. 7. Questions: So now we're going to have a look at the questions in French. Hi, can you create a question? So you've got different ways and different vocabulary you can use. The first one is the inversion. So it's when you put the verb before a noun, like in English, you've got the same system. So I've put an example. You on. So is the verb is before the pronoun to. Are you going to tell? Well then you can use ESCA, which is a French expression. And literally in English, you can translate it by nothing. You just don't have anything in literally means. Is this, that the example I've put is as good as you evolve, when are you going to town? And if I was translating it like literally whereby world it would mean is that you are going to town. So it's just a way of you just put it and then you write, you're going to down, you're doing. This is just an expression that we use in French. The next one that you can learn is key, which mean hu qi own villa, who is going to town. Then you have quad. Why is that C choise casket? And so Tesco is quite similar. That escalates very French, very French expression that we use. And literally it means, what is this? That literally just mean what? Just don't see it as, as a whole thing. Just understand the immune, what it's easier to see it that way. For example, I've put the example of what are you doing could fit. But if you would use the casket, you can also say kids. And it's very short when you pronounce it. It's it's not. Guess cerca la don't pronounce each word. We said kits care, cascade, cascode, shoes there could fit you. What are you doing? Next one is Como. How? Como vets young Hill. How are you going to call? Means when? When are you going to town? Wu means where. Who are Veena? Where are you going in town? Pacquiao means y, put veteran when? Why are you going to them? And you can answer with Pascal. Which means because pascal of, Ofwat. So let me mark, because is going to see his friend Mark. And I pull up the pronunciation as well. Adam say pass ochre, which are here sometime it's not completely wrong, but it's better to pronounce it as Pascal. Pascal Watson anymore when it's singular. So how much is this that when you use how much? For convenience, I quit. And also we use cobia when it's poor for has_many combi onto Foie it Hill annual haas. How many times as you been to France? And then the last two are kept there or sounds like Cal. Difference. First one is masculine, second one is feminine. Plural is always the same thing. So the first one is masculine. Carryover M2. Which one do you like? Because man is masculine. And then can pizza? Cliff asked you, which pizza do you prefer because pizza is family. So as you can see, you've got inversion and then you've got different vocabulary, different terms that you can use to create a question in French. 8. Create a Dialogue: So now I'm going to show a dialogue that I've created. As you will have to do the same thing during your class project. It's just to show how you can use all the information, all the knowledge that we've just learned. So I've just created a random dialogue. And when you do your dialogue, you don't have to make long sentences or US difficult words. You just have to make it your own and use what you know. The point of it is that you create something, you create some French intensities. It doesn't have to be perfect. It just has to be something you tried to do. Because the more you do it, the more you're going to learn. So let's have a look at the one that puts in place. So it's two people meeting and having conversation. First person saying visual MSU. Hello Mr. as we've seen, the greetings commented evil, how are you? Merci, madame? I'm fine. Thank you. Madam. Color was applicable. What's your name? Mali's. My name is Mary. And you mock atari. Did we no longer have lived in Paris since November. If whoever the table. And you Where do you live? So remember location? Jab, it looks humble. I live in Luxembourg. Remember OUT, because Luxembourg is loot books on board. It's a masculine should young who are apparati. I come here to see my parents in Paris. Super colorful till oh, that's great. How their cranium very well. Ushered in mezzo EC, resemble the recently bought a house here. Elegant. Illusion is super boundary. It's big and the garden issue preprint, sampling description. We've learned the different adjectives. You can use colors. Why were you describe him as well as the Fabula? Should? Why Yele, Overwatch. That's fabulous. I have to go. Good-bye. Goodbye. So you see you can talk about anybody, anything you want. Just try creates some dialogue like that. Random dialogue just to use the vocabulary you've learned. So the greetings, the colors, introduce your name, your age, your location, all that different vocabulary that we've seen today. Try to incorporate that in a dialogue. Just write it down and tried to work on creating French sentences. 9. Conclusion: well done. You've made it to the end of the course, so 9 to 10 To practice, as always, you can download the pdf below for more information. And this time you're gonna have to write your introduction. So your name, your age, your location. It doesn't have to be your real name. You can just put the fake name. It's just for you to practice. You also have to write a paragraph about you pits. Write a paragraph about your family and your friends or something. Some description, the names, the age, everything that we've seen try to use older vocabulary that we've used or seen in the course or the adjective for description. The color is decides. And finally, if you could create a dialogue like the one we've just seen. Just tried to make up some French intensities, two people talking to each other and use as much vocabulary as we have seen today. So now let's have a look at what we have learned today. Sewn Ah, you can use French greetings. You know how to introduce you say, by saying your name but telling your age and where you live, you're able to talk about you pits, you are able to talk about your family and your friends. You're able to describe people's and things around you, and you can ask questions in French. Thank you for taking the time to watch the schools, many people that liquid at regimental over.
