About This Class
This class on FORMATTING is Module Nine of the "17 'ings' of Self-publishing" course.
Once you have written, revised, edited and illustrated your book, you will still need to make sure that it has been correctly formatted before you are able to actually go ahead and publish it.
In this class, I shall show you the various options available to you so can quickly and easily format and validate your book without pulling your hair out!
I begin the class by discussing the two different format types that you will need to consider formatting to, my personal thoughts on manual formatting and how you can easily format your ebooks using Scrivener's compile feature.
I then give you an over-the-shoulder view of a quick walkthrough of how to compile an eBook within Scrivener.
In the next part of the class, I shall look at the various free applications that are available for formatting different types of ebooks, as well as some paid software for delivering professionally formatted books.
Finally, I take a look at how you can go about validating your ebooks and checking that they render correctly on your target devices.

I also teach classes about course creation, online learning platforms and teaching, and recently, I launched the Writer Teacher Facebook Group as a place where self-published authors and online teachers can hang out to discuss how to make a significant income from your writing through the repurposing of content that you have already written in the form of online courses.

A Little Bit More About Me
My name is David James Ault and I am a British ex-pat living in Slovakia, in the heart of Europe, with my wonderful Slovak wife, our three children and our English Bullterrier, Shaggy.
Having graduated with a BSc (Hons) Degree in European Business, the first part of my career was spent in marketing, especially in the tourism industry, and during that time, I completed my Postgraduate Diploma in Marketing, at the CIM.
In 2001, I moved from the UK to Slovakia, where I set up a tourism portal about Slovakia and wrote travel related articles and books. I also began writing my first novel.
During the last 15 years, I have written non-fiction books in a variety of niches and set up a number of successful websites to promote my various interests. More recently, I have also been writing fiction and non-fiction books for teenagers and young adults and, in 2015, I set myself the goal of becoming a full-time Writer Teacher within the next couple of years.
I have an eclectic range of interests, including languages, writing, history, online marketing, design and travel. I also have a passion for cooking and eating healthy food, as well as the traditional Slovak dishes I have discovered, whilst living in the heart of Europe.
I have created a number of online courses for many of my niches and I have set up both the How To Publish An eBook and the Teach Someone A Lesson websites to impart some of the knowledge I have learned over the years to my students.
