See you inside. 2. Flat Design in Illustrator : Sun Icon: in this video. I want to continue the summer approach we took with the beer. I can I mean, I want to show you how you can create this son. I can, um, has always let me break it down for you. Basically, there are two kinds of shapes. There are repeated. We got the ellipse right here and here. And of course, we got a bunch of repeated triangles that were actually created from rectangles. The colors used our shades off sunny yellow and blue sky, which I picked up from flat you eye color picker. Okay, so let's get started. I will start, of course, with preparing our working area. So I will duplicate the art port. I will grab my art boots too. I could always use the shift, our shortcut. But before I start duplicating the on board, I will make sure that move copy artwork with our boat is not selected. We only want to copy the art board itself, not the artwork. So now we can clone artwork. And cloning is just like with any other shaping illustrator. I mean, we can simply select it with the art aboard too. Hold down the shift key and the hulking to clone it to the right. Just like so, There is one more thin I'd like to do here before I move on. And I want to add guides to mark the centers part of my art aboard. But I want them to be on our board dependent eso to drag a guide out. I would have rulers active, and the easiest way to make them active is by pressing the control are short cut. And then still, with the audible to active, I will drag one vertical guide and put it roughly in the center. It doesn't have to be perfect. I'm we're not here. If you can see your guides, well, that's because you have their visibility turn off. Just breast the control, semi colons or keyboard to total their visibility. Or you could always go to the View menu guides show our hide guides. Okay, I'm not all drag horizontal guide, so it intersects with the vertical guide to somewhere in the center. Okay, uh, we are done with setting the art aboard up. Let's move on to creating a new layer. So I will go to the layers panel and all to click the new layer icon down here s so I can get a layer Options dialing books like this one where I will name my layer. Ask the some. Okay, Yeah, this song And simply click. OK, I will also walk the original layer by clicking in this spot to left from the layers name, which, as you can see, brings up this bad look like, um, just so I don't mess the original artwork up accidentally, and I am ready to create my I come. Okay, so let's start with I guess, with the most obvious shape, which is the centre circle. So I will grab the ellipse stool from the tools panel, a place that had the intersection of the guides and shift and old drag to create a perfect circle. Just like so. Okay, let's now move on to They're all the most difficult and a bit laborious part. But it's real fun. Trust me. Trust me on that. That remember what I told you at the beginning of the video that I would create the triangles from a rectangle. Uh, well, let me show you what I meant. I'll grab the rectangle tool by pressing the and keys on the keyboard again, Very useful hockey and I will create a rectangle just like so Let me zoom in a bit. Now I want to Crete two rectangles By using the split to grid Command on, I will access it by going to the object path split into grid. And in here I wanna have two columns with no Ghadir. And just like that, I got two identical rectangles. I will now, using that direct selection tool shift drank around these two opposite ankle points and I will remove them using this option in the control panel which has this panto with a minus sign next and what it does, what it did wasn't removed to those anchor points have given us two triangles that we need . And of course, when I zoom in really close, you can see that we have a bit of a problem here with these corners overlapping each other . But we go to the outline mode and you can do it by President that control she caught control. Why a shortcut on the keyboard? We can see that these guys aligned perfectly. So all we need to do is Teoh in the stroke panel. I changed the corner to round. Or Bavel, whichever you choose. It is totally up to you. I think I'm gonna go with the round joint that now some of you might wonder, Why didn't he get a polygon tool and divided using Pathfinder? Wouldn't that be easier? Ah ha. You almost got me. And I didn't do it because we are working in a Web profile document which has aligned to pixel grid option turned on if I wanted to divide the triangle with the bath finer illustrator was trying Teoh Ally my shapes to pixel grid and the triangles wouldn't be even so we can divine the rectangle into smaller triangles. But we need to have the align to pixel Good option de selected. But for a Web project that's not advisable. And I will explain that in in my web designing illustrator courts. Okay, not all reposition the triangles. I'll move them behind the circle. You can re signs the triangles and the sun, if you will. Andi, Finally, I'm ready to stop transforming the triangles. What I want to do is to rotate and copy them at the same time. So I will select the triangles. Activate the rotate tool by pressing the R key on the keyboard. And I will old click at an intersection off the guides to this brings up the rotate, told Tyler Books. And again, those of you guys who have seen my design logos learned in Illustrator, of course, are familiar with the technique I'm about to use Alers. Well, don't see Michael. Okay, briefly speaking, only rotate the triangles and copy them at the same time. And I want to do it by the right angle s so I will simply type 3 60 and divided by 20. Um, I did that because there was 3 360 degrees in a circle on, and we want 20 copies so ill. Spiller countered the right angle for us. What I want to do now is to click copy. Not okay. Two will get a copy of the triangles rotated by 20 degrees. All that's left is to duplicate last transformation at which was, of course, copying and rotating at the same time. So I will use the ever so handy controlled the shortcut to complete the last transformation , and I will do it 18 times in total because you won't have 20 copies in total. And I'm just like that. We Well, we got the basic shape off the sun complete. Now when we look at the the original I come, we can see that every other triangle group, the Liar one is smaller. So to recreate that, of course, I need to select every other group with the selection took. So I will make sure it's active by pressing the V key on the keyboard, and I will select every other group just like so. And of course, I'm holding down the shift key. So every other group is added to the selection, and, uh, now I will make them smaller. And I will do that simply by pressing the asking on the keyboard on the enter to activate the scale toe and this dialogue books. I will make these guys smaller by around 80 to maybe 85%. Okay, As you can see, all of them got smaller in relation to our central point. You know, our transformation original and, uh, yeah. Now I can start adding colors. I'll start with the biggest race All the directly select these guys the right ones so to speak. I will get rid of the stroke, and I will make the fill color dark orange. Now I will directly selected these guys, um, get rid of the stroke and made the fill color lighter orange. Now it's time for the smaller race. I'll directly select these guys, get rid of stroke and make the fill color darker orange. And now, since only these smaller rays have the same appearance, instead of clicking a wound by one, I'll go to the control panel and from the select similar Objects box, I'll choose appearance to select all the same objects in just one quick and I will get rid of the stroke. I'll make the fill color light orange. Yeah, there we go. Going to do now is to give this middle a lipstick color, so I will make it orange, um, with some want white stroke, which I will, which I will make a 10 pixels thick. Lastly, I will select everything with the selection tool on holding down the shift key, rotated by 45 degrees. Wait, we're almost there. The last thing to do is to create the background, and for that I was simply select the middle circle copied Basit in front, and I want to make sure that it sent all the way to the back. I will now press the S key on the keyboard and hit Enter to bring up the scale tool of dialogue box. And I I will scale it up by quite a lot. Yeah, I I think that should do it. No, I will do something that is not entirely flat design compliant. I mean, I will give this background ingredient, but don't tell anyone. Um, so I will go to the Grady in panel. Make sure that the Phyllis active, not the stroke. And I will click on this great and switch right here. I wanted to be a radial. Grady Inside will choose this option right here on no one. I double click on a greedy and stop. I'll get access to the swatches panel, from which I will choose this blue color. And for the either color I want to get I want to go with this. A very, very light blue swatch. I will also move the slider to around 70% to make the lighter blue a bit more prominent. Yeah, There we go Wasn't that easy? Well, it's because I make it easy and you will see some more simple and spectacular effects In other videos. More foot icons are still to come, so stay tuned.
