In this video, we'll learn how to create this barbecue Aiken, and creating it can get a little tricky. And the requires the usage of some just a bit more advanced techniques. But fear not, you got me to guide you so the whole process will be really enjoyable. Okay, so let's start and we will start as usual with the duplicating the art board. I will grab the our boards to or I could always use the shift. Oh, shortcut. But before I start duplicating the art abort, I will make sure that move copy artwork with art aboard is not selected. We only want to copy the artwork itself, not the artwork. Okay, so now we can clone art board and clone. It is just like with any any other shaping illustrator waken Simply select it with the on boards to hold down the shift key and the key to clone it to the right. Just like so. There is one more thing I'd like to do here before I move on. Owner at guides to mark the center sport of my art board, but I want him to be our board dependent. So to drag a guide out, I wanna have rulers active and easiest way to make them activities. By present, the control are short cut and and then still with the audible to active, I will drag one vertical guide, and I will put it roughly in the center. It doesn't have to be perfect if you can't see your guys. That's because you have their visibility turned off. Just pressed the control Sam Michael on your keyboard to toggle their visibility. Or you could always go to the view menu guides show or hide guides. Now all drag a horizontal guide just like that. Okay, we are done with setting the art board up. Let's move on to creating a new layer. And for that I will go to the layers panel that notice that I can still be in the audible tool. It's gonna still be active. It doesn't affect my work flow here and in here I will also clipped the new layer I come eso I didn't get a layer options dialog books where I will name my layer as barbecue. Okay, I'll simply Cleo click. OK. And I will also look the the original layer by clicking in this spot toe left from the layers name Which brings up this padlock icon. You know, I'll do it just so I don't mess it up accidentally and okay, I am ready to create my I come and I will start with the to tell you the truth and I don't even know what What It's cold isn't the undercarriage I will Anyway, I will start with this bottom part and the wheels. So the first thing I'm gonna do is create a rectangle of course, with the help of the rectangle tool that I will activate by pressing the am key on the keyboard and I will draw a rectangle. Ah, just like that I don't want to have I don't want to have a Phil. I only want to have stroke and I also need this bottom parts either. So I'll select this bottom path with the direct selection to, and I will simply delete it. So what I have right now is an open path that I will apply an effect too. And for that I will go to the effect menu. I will choose work. And in here I will choose Arc. And in the band option, I will enter a negative value. Something between minus 10 to minus 15. Should be good. Since it's still alive. Effect. I will expand its appearance in the object menu and I want to choose expand appearance. Okay, so far, so good that I'll make the stroke significantly thicker. I'll go up Teoh, maybe 25 pixels, and in the stroke panel. I'll make the corner round. Now we'll go to the object menu again because I want to transform the stroke into a shape and they'll choose expand and I'll just hit. Okay, Why Don't love steps to take just to create this shape right now. Let's get to the wheels first. I'm gonna create intentionally two big circles by using the Ellipse tool, Of course. So I will make it active by pressing the alky. I don't start drawing somewhere here, and by the way, I'm holding down the shift key to constrain the proportions. Okay, Now will hold on the ship and the old keys to together to clone it to the right. Okay, Now I will copy the left circle into my clipboard because I will need it later. And let me explain why I did all that. Well, What I want to do now is to create these arcs right here that we can see in the original icon. And I want to do it in just one step. So with the help of the Pathfinder tool, I want to unite these two ellipsis. So I will go to the Pathfinder tool and click Unite. And now I want to subtract them, making sure that all the ellipsis are selected and one subtract them from the shape that's beneath them. And remember that I'm still storing an ellipse in my clipboard. So I will just base it in front, and I will make it a bit smaller using this scale tool which I will access by pressing the S and then the answer key on the keyboard. And I was scale it uniformly to around 80 or 85%. Okay. And now I will hit the asking and enter again to make it smaller once more. But this time I will shrink into around 50% and I'm I will not hit. Okay? but I will hit copy. And again I will copy the smaller ellipse in the clipboard because I'm gonna need it in a second. And now, in the Pathfinder tour, I was select minus front, making sure you get both the ellipsis selected. And again I will place him from the lips. I just copy to my clipboard, and I'll make it smaller again. I don't have the same values before. Will suffice. Will suffice. Or 50% or anything around 50% will be OK. And now we got the first well created. That was pretty laborious, don't you think? Um, well, now I will select both these shapes and holding down the ship in the old keys. I would clone them to the right, just like so. And lastly, I will group thes wheels together and yeah, finally they are done. Yes, they are done. Okay. Now, the really last thing to do at this point is toe add this horizontal bar and we can see in the original icon and let me show you how I would approach this. Um, instead of creating a new element, I will use what I already have. I mean, with a direct selection tool. I grabbed this path right here. I will copy and paste it in front. And now I will make it smaller with the help of the scale tool. I think that should do it. Now I will press the shift key and the right arrow the same time to move it to the right. Now I will reflect it with a little bit of help from the reflector, which I will activate by pressing the okey on the keyboard. Now we'll hit, enter. And in this dialogue books I want to reflect it vertically and I will hit copy, Just like so. Now move this newly created path to the right. So about here. And with both this path selected, I will press the control J Command twice to join them. And essentially, I created a rectangle that I am looking for. Okay. From this point on, it will only get easier and easier. Trust me. Okay, so let's not create this gross lid. Andi want to start with creating then lips by holding down the bulky And of course I will access it by President Al Key on the keyboard and I will trying to align nicely with the rest of the icon. And it's pretty important guys to make this lips that have a nice curvature that fits the bottom part. Okay, that should do it. You can always make it look nicer with the free transform tool or or simply by selecting it with the selection tool and then playing around with it with its shape and curvature. Um, this looks okay for me. Okay, Then I also want to make sure that it has a black fill and no stroke. And I will select the top anchor point with the direct selection tool, and I will simply delete it on this half circle is now an open path. Of course, Soils simply join it by using the young control J shortcut. And I will create this sort of a trade, and I will do it with the rounded rectangle toe s. I'll grab it from my tools panel, and I will drag rounded rectangle just like so. Okay, Almost done. Let us know. Create the handle again with the rounded rectangle to okay. Will be smaller than lit. Of course, on the tray, I mean, And now what I want to do is I want to rotate this guy, of course, with the rotate tool check and quickly access by pressing the R key on the keyboard and I will establish their rotation original point on the left Most anchor point, and I will rotate it, holding down the altar key to clone it just like that. And of course, I will move it to the right just a bit. Okay, now let's close of the litter with the ever so handy reflects toe. So select that bottom part of the lid. I'll go for the reflect all which I can access by pressing a the okay on the keyboard. And I will old click in the middle off this rounded rectangle I will choose horizontal and I will click. OK, now That was easy, wasn't it? Um, OK, so let's finish the shape her with the handle on top. So again, with their lives to Al Vagina Lips, I'll give it a nice, thicker stroke, and I will want to unit united with the lid so I'll go to the object menu. I'll select expand. I don't click OK, and lastly aside, just mentioned, I will unite these two guys in the Pathfinder tool. Now, the last thing to do is to create the this kind of a reflection on the right, and I will do that with the pan tal. So I will make it active by using the Peking. Or I could I could, of course, go to the tools panel and choose panto from here. And I will make sure that it has white stroke and no film. And I was simply create a nice looking curve. Just like that, They will have a thicker stroke. And I also want to want to have round cap. Um and I will set it up in the stroke panel, just like so. And yeah, we are done with the base shape that took a while, didn't it? But I don't think it was two was too difficult, right? Okay, I'm almost ready to start color in it. But since as we can check with the original, we have this shadow going through the right side of the lid. Eso we need to create a base for it and we will do that first by selecting the top and bottom part of the lid, I will copy them and I would paste them in front. And now go ahead and draw with the line segments toe straight line going through the middle of the barbecue. Uh, but it don't want it to be too long. I'll add both parts of the lid to the selection by clicking on them, holding down the control and shift keys together. And I will just divide it in the Pathfinder tool now on group Those guys. I could go to the object Manu Inches on group or use the shift control plans. G shortcut. And now I will get rid over. These are left parts, and there we go. I got half of the litter that will act as a shadow. It's finished. Now. It's time to start adding some colors. Okay, so I will color their lid and the handles. I will color the tray, and I will call her the base. And lastly, I'll make the shadow part black and I want to set. It's a blending mode, too soft light and also dropped on the capacity to around 80%. Okay, so what's left to do is to create a background, and I will start drawing and lips while holding down the shift and old case to constrain the proportions and start joining from the center point. Like so. Of course, I'm accessing the Ellipse stole by presently Al Key on the keyboard. Okay, when I'm done, I will move it to the bottom of the stack. I'll give it a proper color. And Wola, we are done. It wasn't that easy. It took a while, but it was I think it was easy. Well, it is because I make it is and you was see some more simple and spectacular effects In other videos. More flood icons are still to come, so stay tuned.
