1. Final cut pro x Intro: Ah, guys, My name is Greg Hung. Welcome to my final cut Pro X course. This is about multi cam video editing. This is about green screen setups, very specific applications of how use final cut Pro X, and it's how I've used fun cup Pro X and, ah, there's a lot, Of course, is out there that will teach you the basics, but I'm assuming you already have a base level of knowledge and you're looking to doom or intermediate to advance things. So the green screen is obviously useful. If you're doing talk, had videos for other people or teaching online. And the multi cam set ups are useful. If you're doing freelance video interviews and you have one or two cameras or even to audio feeds and you have a one or two person interview and you want to know, how do you edit that video footage in final cut pro X after So stay tuned, and I hope you enjoy and learn a lot from this course 2. On set: Filming a crowded 2 Camera talk - 1 of 3: Hi. This cried Kung I'm a location independent video creator. And in this video, I wanted to cover sort of the entire process to create a video specifically alive talk video where I did to camera angles with lighting and capture the sound so that Christian here could host up a YouTube video off this talk and do it in, ah, professional way good quality. And so I'm gonna start off just by covering how I set this thing up and the preparation involved, because that's a big part of it. And in the second half, I'm gonna cover the actual editing off this footage because I think that often gets overlooked. So let's get started. Part one. So I had a very short notice to through this video, and I use it with the gear that already had. Now, some of the preparation that I needed to do was to prepare the audio. Already had two cameras, and I was gonna use my canon 60 with the 24 105 which you see here in the picture and camera to would be my canon 70 to capture the actual picture you're looking at now. And this was to give a different angle off Speaker talking to the audience now. Ah, we'll talk more about the set up, but ah, in terms of the gear, I use the wide lens for camera to what you're looking at right now. It was 11 to 16 nice and wide and, uh, the lighting I used an led light most of the time was spent preparing for the audio, but ah, the software on the cannon SLRs, especially for talks that are gonna be at least an hour long. And that's what else preparing for. You need to install magic lantern on the cattle nestle ours, and I have a video for that magical lantern allows you to automatically restart the recording after the cannons reached their recording limit. So without any magic lantern, the Candace Lars will record up to 12 minutes and with the magic lantern firmware updates, it will record up to 30 minutes and it will automatically restart after it reaches. I'd limit with Magic lantern. You have to install much glance, turn and configure it. So again, I have a video for that. Check that out how to set up Magic Lantern, and after that we need to plan for the audio. Something I want to mention is that even though the camera will we start after 30 minutes, there will be the one second blank spot, and that's where two camera angles actually become useful because you can switch to camera two when you get that blank spot. So you just gotta watch out for that, especially if you're recording more than 30 minute talks with Canada. Solares. Okay, let's talk about the audio. So I didn't have access to wireless son Heuser Mike. That's what I would recommend for this type of set up. Ideally, you could also hook in an H five zoom recorder or H four n any type of field recorder using XLR to the house system. I actually arrived earlier in the day to scout out this room and check out there Speaker that connects to the mic. Ah, I scanned it for any outputs that I could connect to the field recorder. Unfortunately, it was all all, uh, input in, so no way to connect my field recorder. If you do have that option, that will be option Number one. Option Number two would be a wireless live mike that gets transmitted to the field recorder with a receiver. Okay, so what do we do? I recorded several different audio sources. So number one was that H five zoom that's sitting on the tripod there, pointing towards the speaker. When I arrived, I had to set up the tables. So this was another important point. I came about an hour early before I had this crowd here. Some of the challenges, in addition to the crowd, were just having one person to do this. So to camera angles plus audio, and another challenge was the amount of people look at the mountain people in this room. So ideally, it would be nice to have camera one further back. But then I needed to walk to Camera two and also need to make sure that the audio was recording. If one of these failed, then the whole video would not be a success, especially the audio and at least one video feed. Okay, so let's get back to the preparation. Some of the, uh, other preparation I needed were batteries, batteries for the shock of Mike. So we use the shot road shock on Mike on camera too. Two point towards the speaker, the Soviet backup body of anything went wrong. Audio one would be my field recorder pointed towards the speaker, and our other audio option was alive. Mike, which you can't see in this picture connected directly to Chris's smartphone and actually take a listen to all three audio sources. And the best audio was from the zoo field recorder. I think it's because the zoom can record at a better recording format. I recorded this 48 k g 24 bit and it was in stereo. So sounded pretty good to clean up the audio and audacity. And ah, so let's talk a bit more about setting up the space so arrived early and the space didn't look like this. It was just a lot of tables and chairs, and I already went to some similar meeting before, so I knew there would be a lot of people, and I knew that where the speaker would be so mentally a had an image of what I wanted to do. I wanted to have camera one, obviously, on the speaker Camera two. I envisioned this angle where you could see the speakers face, and you could also see the audience and their reactions. Plus, I intentionally put the camera two against the window. So facing toward the speaker, by the way, no. To get use of natural daylight now is using F 2.8 lens. So that allowed a lot of light in this situation. The room is actually not that bright. Camera one had the main led lights, so that lit up speaker. Some things about lighting is that I didn't have a lot of time. Teoh set up the lighting, but I wanted it to look well lit. So I just used the, you know, just the L Eli panel, and I didn't want it to bright, but I wanted to light up the speaker and if I recall, was F four Isil 1600 and I showed this at 30 frames per second. So I put the shutter speed at 60. So that's what I had for camera one. All right, I think that covers everything for the set up. So as you can see, there's quite a lot of preparation that goes into this while is actually setting up it waas quite fast. I mean, it takes at least 30 minutes to set everything up to unpack both cameras, set them on the tripods, get the light going, make sure that you've got all your recording settings. You formatted the memory cards and setting up the audio. There's a lot of little things you have to manage, so it really helps it become early, especially before the crowd comes. And actually, while setting up, people were trying to talk to me and ask me questions and a communal bit annoying when you're under pressure to, you know, do your job. But this can all be avoided. Well, some of this could be avoided by a coming earlier so that you still have time to chat with people. Okay, so that covers part one of the set up for this video shoot in part two. I'm gonna dive into the editing in final cut Pro X specifically with doing a multi camp shoot with one audio source 3. Post production: Filming a crowded 2 Camera talk - 2 of 3 3: Hi. This crack hung. I'm a location independent video creator from Canada at Greg kong show dot com. In this video, I'm gonna be talking about the actual shoot for this video, which was an hour long video with two camera angles and audio and a large crowd. And then I'm gonna talk about editing this specifically in final cut pro with a multi cam project. So to camera angles and audio. Okay, so let's talk about the actual shoot first. So when the shoot was actually live, my challenge was to make sure that the cameras were recording. It wasn't too much work. Once everything was set up, I had the cameras in the right position with the right focal length and the focus and the right camera settings and make sure that there was enough memory cards based on battery and that it was recording. So once those things were taking care of, the cameras didn't need too much more maintenance. The main thing is that I wanted to make sure there was still recording from time to time, specifically at 12 minute intervals. I was aware that there is a about 28 minutes limitation. I believe somewhere on that neighborhood that you need to be aware that the cameras, if they don't have magic lantern, they'll stop. But because I put restarts, it should restart. But it's always good to make sure that it's actually happening. And the time code on your SLR were start flashing when it's about to stop recording, so that should be your warning sign. So during the shoot, I was casually and silently walking between the two cameras, not too often to cause a distraction, but once in a while let's, ah, just slip over to another angle so you can see. But other than that, I was also monitoring the audio on the field recorder just to make sure that was recording . And I would just put the headphones on to make sure that there was good audio coming in. And other than that, it was pretty much just making sure things were going. But actually, during this talk, I wasn't prepared for this. Speaker wanted to do some show and tell off the tattoo on his arm. So luckily I was at Camera one, and I could quickly zoom into that moment and capture that. So it's also a good idea. Teoh. Be on top of things, not fall asleep so you can capture those moments that aren't planned. So that is the chutes. So let's talk about Post Shoots. So after this talk, it was pretty chaotic. A lot of people tried to get time with Speaker, and I was frantically trying to get my gear on the way so it wouldn't get crushed. Once I got it home, I copied the data and I was really tempted because a lot of people like to do some social events after I want to go to. But I try to make it a point to back up the footage and make sure everything's good before I head out. So let's just go over there. So, yeah, there's example where I'm capturing some close ups off the tattoo on his arm. Okay, let's talk about the actual added now in final cut pro X. So after you've got your footage, I recommend creating and events importing it into final cuts. And then what you want to do is you want to label your video clips for camera one camera, too, so you can highlight that in the browser and you can highlight more than one Toby. Click it. You should bring up your inspector with command for and you can actually fill in this field here, Cam one and a play custom name or just hit Enter. So that's gonna help you distinguish between different camera angles when you're doing the multi cam. Edit the audio fall. I brought it into audacity. First, Teoh clean up a little bit of background noise before bringing it into the project. So that's this file here. So I cleaned it up, and then I imported it into final compro X. I prefer to have clean audio so that I could just adit It's along with the video clips, all right. After that, I highlighted all the video and audio clips in the events, and I selected new multi cam clip. Can't do that now. It's already created, but it will work for you, and this is what it will look like in your meantime line. You'll see Windows icons that you can double click on to drill down into the multi cam timeline view. Now, the important thing to know is, in this view, you can see the video feed for Kem one which we identified the label earlier, Camp two and then at the bottom. We have our audio feed important thing. That note is, in this view, you could make global changes like sharpening or brightness, and that will apply to the entire Cam Juan or Camp Tuffey. Just make sure to highlight it first, and to return to the regular timeline view, there's Ah, arrow just underneath the time code that you can use to return. 4. Post production: Filming a crowded 2 Camera talk - 3 of 3: Hi. This is Greg Hung Location independent, new Creator. This is the last video out of this two part series. Actually ended up being three videos because my software stopped. So we were just talking about the actual edit of the multi cam. So here we've got are to camera angles showing. And we put this view by going over to view, and we put show angles, and I was just saying to actually do the live at it. We press the space bar, so that will run through the video. And then you can just press one and two so one for camera 12 for camera, too. And it's a simple is that I like to put two angles because we only have two angles. Something I did was actually put the audio clip in the timeline, so you can see that over here. Okay. Other things you may need to know is that you can resize these clips right in time line if you want to make them longer shorter. So these cuts are not set in stone, so you can just left, click, hold and re size. If you want to make that little bit shorter, okay, Just like that commands that. So after that it's pretty similar to your usual editing. A lot of the difficult part comes from just setting this up, annoying the little steps you need. Teoh get here. It looks intimidating. But once you know the steps, that's not that difficult. Okay, Lost Lee. When you've done, I would just export this as you normally do. So command E and remember to export video and audio, and you can tag entitled the videos you normally do. And that's how we do a multi cam video edit with two camera angles. And I just had one speaker, so I use the audience force from my field recorder. I also have another video on doing a multi camp at it with two camera angles and two speakers. So to audio feeds that one was a little bit more tricky. But, ah, this one was tricky because a lot of people there was a very short time I didn't have access to the audio source I really needed, which was the wireless life, Mike. But ah, I managed to figure out a way then. This is tricky because you've got this speaker over here the speaker, which is actually being amplified, um is amplifying the microphone, which is audio that's going into my recorder there. But the speaker is also talking. So he's another all your inputs, they're going to audio inputs one from speaker one from the actual speakers mouth. So I wasn't actually sure how it would all turn out. So I will show you some sample footage just so you get a night idea of how this all turned out. Thanks for watching this video and good luck on your edit. 5. Editing a 2 person Interview (multi cam) part 1: either. This is great Kung, and welcome to the video production Academy. In this lesson, I'm going to talk about how we can add it. A two person interview filled with two cameras on two audio sources. I recently filmed a six day video interview and we did to camera angles and we had to laugh . Mike's now coming back to your editor. I'm using Final Cut Pro X. One of the things that is difficult is that you have to match up the two different video streams and two audio streams. And so I'm gonna introduce the multi cam feature and final cut Pro X as a way to make that a lot easier. So I'm gonna take you to the timeline. This is the finished product. I'm gonna walk you through the actual project, and then I'm gonna show you how I did it very quickly. All right, so the video starts off with a title in True, And what I did is I used one of the templates in the title here, and this one is called foldable, and I like it because you can looks professional. You can replace one of these, uh, squares with a screen grab from one of the video clips. Okay, so there it is. It's cold cold. So using this template, I modifying the title. And after the title, we get into the interview, so I'm gonna show you some of these, at least the beginning off the interview. So here we are. This is camera one, and we attempted a over the shoulder shot. I got him pretty close to the two people speaking, but we Then we're gonna cut to camera two, and this has a nice angle off the main speaker on the back of the clients. So what I did with this to person interview is I would cut between two young camera angles , depending on the person that was speaking, and, uh, underneath here you see two different audio streams. So we recorded the audio using H five zoo field recorder and ah, that captured the audio feed from the live mikes that are both speakers. So that's what these two audio streams are on. So the next challenge when you're actually editing these streams is that how do you sink the mola in the timeline? Here you see one video stream and then to audio streams. Okay, I'm gonna show you, uh, take you back to the beginning to show you how we can set up multi cam editing. The first thing we need to do is we need to bring the video clips into final cut Pro. Okay. And what we need to do is highlight all the clips that are filmed with your first camera. So maybe this one 12 or three. And because I used magic lantern, that means we were coming record up to 30 minutes, which means less video clips, which is nice. But the key thing is, is that after you highlighted the clips in the Inspector, if you want to name one of the cameras. So I named this camp one, and after you've done that, I highlighted the clips for the second camera. Okay. And then in the inspector in full area, I label the camp to and, uh, what I did after that waas I edited the audio from the love Mike took out the background noise in audacity and have videos for that on. So I bring the actual audio file into this event 6. Editing a 2 person Interview (multi cam) part 2: either. This is great Kung from the online video production academy. In this lesson, we're continuing to set up our multi cam project in final cut Pro X. So where we left off? Waas. We worse about to select the video clips and the audio in the final couple X event. So highly, One clip from camera one one from camera to, and I'm gonna highlight the two audio trucks. This is audio track One. We can tell by the TR one. And now I'm going to school down until I find tr two. And what we simply need to do is right. Click and select new multi cam. What's gonna name a venue academy? Okay, on weaken. Set up. What You bet we wanted in on. I just leave everything on auto and make sure use audio of her sink is checked. Okay, so this is gonna create a multi cam clip in the event. And now what it's doing is it's sinking up the two video streams, the two audio streams, using the audio in all of these media so that you don't have to match them all up, which saves a lot of time and a tip for doing this is that while reaction recording, I would turn up the audio for the cameras even if they don't have a shock on Mike so that you still have that audio wave to help help for sinking purposes. So take a look. A thesis. Sound recording levels on your cameras before you record. All right, so now we have the multi cam clip created. I'm just gonna create a project to put the small to camp. Look into Colvin, you academy. Okay, 10. 80 p. All those settings are fine on. Now I'm going to drag the multi cam clip into the timeline. Okay? Next thing we need to do is open up the angle editor. So we goto windows. You're displays. Show angles, some on the airplanes. This is located in I'm recording in Chiang Mai in Thailand. So which is over near an airport. Okay. Syria's or multi cam clip on. And this is the angle editor. So what we can do now is shut down or high the browser and the libraries so we can get a larger real estate for this angle viewer area. Okay, so it's pretty simple to edit. We can press one. If we want Teoh and it's have camera one in the actual video and press two under keypad or keyboard to actually get camera to in there so much, you just gonna do a live at it. Okay, so it's on camera one. Now I'm gonna press two. Boom. So while we're actually previewing the video by pressing the space bar, I can flip back and forth between these angles. And what this is doing is actually making a cut to this video clip in the timeline. Pretty slick. All right, so now I'm gonna show you what we can do for the audio as it is right now. It's just one clip, but we can expand the audio components. All right, now, we still have the multi cam clip highlighted. So in the Inspector weaken, go to the audio tab and we can expend all these guys this a little bit confusing. But what you do need to know and that's my job toe simplify things for you that don't need to be complex. Just uncheck the FBI because this is the on board camera on you and we once the laugh Mike audio tracks. All right, so with that selected in inspector. Now we can expand on your components, and that's gonna give us to live. Audio tracks when I found out, is if both speakers air not too loud, you can. You could just focus on any video. I would put a pair of headphones on just the monitoring a sound. If this is a case, this is gonna be an easier video at it. If we have to Loudspeakers, what you might have to do is edit the audio separately and what I mean by that. Let's just say it's a speaker one talking right now today and let me just cut it here. Let's say for this clip I just wanted the audio from live like one. What we can do is click away, highlight this clip. You can right click, and you can select the active O'Neill clip. So if we just want to click track one, we could do that. And let's just save going forward. We wanted to get the audio from love Mike to. I know it's funny because she's sleeping, but let's just do that anyways, all right, so you might end up with something like this on to smooth it out. What you could do is you could just soften up the endpoints of the audio file like that on you might even overlap them a little bit, second highlighted and drag it something like that. All right, I think he got the idea. Let's say we wanted to do some editing to the actual video files. I'm gonna show you how to do that. We can double click a multi cam clip in the browser or in the timeline, and that's gonna open up. But multi cam clip in a different view. So we're actually looking at the underlying videophiles. If you wanted to make changes to any of the master underlying follows, you could do it at this level, and the changes would then apply to your actual multi cam with your project, even know you've already make cuts to it. I'll show you an example. I'll do an extreme example. So you get the idea. So come to is the clip. I want to make a change too. So I'm gonna press the TV either, okay? And I'm gonna press command six to bring up the color more. And that's like one of these presets I'm gonna do something really extreme. Okay? So put a cold tone there, and I would say That's it. I want to go back to the program. So we're back on the project and we can see that change I made at the underlying levels now applying Teoh the project. So that's really nice. Okay, so I've covered multi Canham editing at a high level, but that should be enough information. Teoh get you going. Saves you a lot of time. And, uh, I just wish I discovered it sooner. So I hope this helps you Well, especially when editing multi camera angles and multi audio angles. Multi cam feature in final cut Pro X. 7. The Green Screen studio setup: you guys and girls. This is Greg Hung, and in this video, I'm gonna demo how you can use the Panasonic GH five in a green screen studio set up. I showed you one studio set up in the basement cave. This one has a green screen behind me. When you're using a green screen is very important to get even lighting. Otherwise, you'll get distortion when you try to replace the background. It's not easy. Sometimes you have to experiments and then actually view the footage on the computer and make the adjustments if necessary. I have two sets of lights. Plus, I haven't led sitting on top of the hot shoe on the GH five and I set them all to the same color temperature. I tried to even out the lights, and I'm just a single person set up today, so I've also flip the screen. I've set the GH five to Manual Isil 1600. I've said it to open up the aperture and upset the auto focus, a f C facial detection and also auto focus on the lens. So with all those settings, this is the picture that we get. So I'm just looking on the panel there. It looks OK, but we'll see what it actually looks like when you're watching this for the audio I'm using Age five Zoomer Quarter. I've got a live mic attached to my shirt that's hooked up to this h five Zuma quarter right over here. And I've also got this condensed mike just as a backup. So I've got two different audio channels I'm recording, and I'm going to sink them with the video footage from the GH five. So that, in a nutshell, is how I can use the GH five in a studio set up So you could use this for talking head videos for YouTube or even instructional tutorials like I'm doing with a one person set up . It is a lot of work for one person, but I think you can achieve this in about 30 minutes, using the advice that have given, As you can see in the actual examples, I found out during post production that I over lit the right side. That's your right side after I applied the key in final cut Pro X. The key is what we need to do to actually use the green screen footage. Luckily, you can mask this error if you're planning to use a white background. I use the creamy white background and you can barely detect it. But I would have problems if I was substituting any other type of background. Luckily, I didn't notice this problem, and I even doubt the lighting on your right side and that dramatically improved the green screen. Well, I hope you found this video helpful, and it helps you to create some really good green screen studio set of videos. 8. Editing Green Screen Footage: Hi. Thanks for joining were now onto the post production phase on the GH five footage if you haven't seen it before, I covered my green screen studio set up with the GH five and now we're looking at some of the files here. I've found that the video files are not able to be preview straight from the finder in the Mac. And what I've done is I've opened up my video editor final cut Pro X, and I just let you take a quick look over here from using 10.3 point three. So this is the professional, the new editor for the Mac. And what I had to do to start editing them is to drag these files over to the events here so I would drag him over, and immediately they were visible. So that's cool. I didn't have to do any trans coding or converting using the compressor so there immediately available to use. But the annoying thing is that if I don't know which with the content, all those video falls where I would just have to drag them in first and start labeling them from there. The first video I start editing is actually the introduction to this course, so you can actually view the finished product of the studio set up. And the intro was shot on the GH five. But I'm gonna show you some workflow stuff so you can understand how do at the video footage, what I've done is I've taken the separate audio feed and then I sink it with the video clip , have to find the right video clip and audio clip. And then there's a secret eyes function in final Cut Pro X and then gave me this foul here . From there, I had to then choose the proper audio few because the GH five also records audio from the internal speaker. So I uncheck that, and I checked the audio from my external microphone, and the final check was to look at how that I do with the green screen. There was another challenge there because with one man set up, I had to make sure I had adequate lighting. So check out that other video if you're interested in this set up. But this is more on the workflow in the finished product. And so then all right to turn on the keying effects in final cut pro X. Just drag that over there and you can see from the Inspector if you put commit. And for that we have a different background. I simply just put an image of that shown in Bali underneath the clip here I'm a Canadian travel videographer. Some of you may know me from my aerial video courses or stop. So far, they mention looks perfect. Looked like the green screen lining was done. Really well was nice and even. And I'm very happy with the results from the GH five improves to me that this camera is pretty good for a one man set up if you want to do studio talking, had videos or tutorials. So I hope you enjoy this and check out the final result, which will be the intro, the final step we need to do here. After we've trimmed out any mistakes which I haven't done yet. I'm just going to fast forward to the actual export is I'm gonna news command E to get to this window. I want to select video and audio age to six. Floor is the most common format or sharing on the Internet. There's higher call the options and they create higher quality files. I'm gonna stick with age 264 It's already creating a somewhat large file and we're gonna hit Knicks. And then it's going to create the Finnish file. And ah, quick time movie format is donna movie. So we started working with the MP four on the Panasonic GH five, but we're going to end up with the doctor and movie file. I hope you found that video helpful to understand some of my work flow toe work with GH five footage how we can use the green screen set up and you can see the results that the GH five produced. 9. FCPX export to xml: Hi. This is great Kung. In this video we're gonna cover. How do we export your final cut pro X project to an XML file? Now, you may be wondering why we wanted export our project to an XML. Well, if you finish the project and you're working on this for a client, maybe they still want to make some minor edits. If they have final cut pro X on their and and you're not in the same location Or maybe you're working on one of your own projects and in the future, you just may want to reopen the project and continue adding to it. There's a number of reasons, but let's just go through more or less the finish video that I did for South Africa. So it really got my video clips in the timeline and my cuts, and I'm gonna export this to in XML, so file export accidental, and it's gonna go over here. Okay, Now, in order for this to work, the XML will have the data like which files were in the project and what size they were like, how you trim them, how exactly they looked in the timeline. But what you need to figure out before you destroy a project is you need to have all those files in one location or at least know where they are, because you will need to re link them. What am I doing now? Is just figuring out where these calls actually are on my laptop. So I'm going to reveal and find her so I can see here they are in this location. Let's see, let's see SLR caped own original media. All right, so let's say we don't have that project and I'm giving this file to someone else so they will click on this XML project and it's gonna important. Let's just keep both, okay, Here it is. Let me just delete both of those projects and then we'll go through the relinking. All right, So let's just say I removed the project. I'm going to open up the XML file. All right, so it's actually reopened the project in the originally event, and here we go. I've got all the files that I had before because they're on my computer. Okay, I'm just gonna show you a quick example of what your project would look like if you didn't have all the files in the original locations. So I just imported another project and it's just full of missing files. So to deal with this, you gotta highlight the files that are missing. You have to go to file reeling files, and I'm not sure I want to go through all this, but I'll go through one for your benefits. And let's just do the main video, Okay, Coast and take three. So now it wants us to find this file, and I think I have them over here, and in some cases you can just select the folder. So you just try that and it's found the match and there we go. So I've got my original fall back. But because when I created these projects the files were all over the place, I would need to at least find the folder where these individual B roll clips where to resurrect this project. But if you just had them all in a folder, you could potentially share and XML Fall was someone else and the raw video clips and audio clips that make up this video and start working on this project again in another computer with final cut Pro act. So that is the magic of using an XML file for final cut pro X 10. FCPX different export formats: I in this video, we're gonna cover different video formats you can export your project to. Let's just say you have a finished project. Let's just go to, uh and you're ready and export your project. So we go command E, and we're gonna sleep video and audio. So the area we're looking at is video Kodak. I almost do 99% off my videos to age 264 It's when I use for tutorial videos, even customers that one videos. They just want to share it on the Internet and age 264 is good enough. If you wanna exported to higher quality, you can go un compressed and then you can see the difference in the final size so you can see here. This is going to create a 58.8 Meg McFaul for 22nd 24 2nd video. Look how that jumps for UN compressed 10 bit for two. To if you've seen my Panasonic GH five course, that camera is capable of filling four K at this bit great here. That just creates monster files, which would be hard to even edit in my computer than had problems playing a back. Now here, the different Apple Pro rez Codex you can use. So starting with the Triple four X Q, this is the highest quality going down to the lower quality, ample progress for months now. Most of these are high quality formats, which this see how that final size does. So this is a lot smaller. Then the UN compressed 10 bit. There is some compression with these apple crow rez codex, but they're still very high quality, and you can use them across different video editors other than final compro axe. I would make sure that you Google search that before you take my word for it. But as far as I understand, that is the case now. If a client request it, I may use Prue Rez 42 or or two to H Q. Since this kind of a compromise between high quality and lower size files, if you go to Apple's website, they have a great explanation. Hair off the difference off each specific Kodak. But in most cases, H 264 is good enough for most cases, and ah, there we go 11. FCPX voice over: Hi. In this video, I'm going to give you a basic demo of how to use the voice recording feature in final cut Pro X. This is actually very practical if you need to do a tutorial or how to video, and it's just easier to do it while following along with the video in final cut pro X. So to bring it up, we need to have final cut Pro X Open and your video project open, and then we go to window record voice over and ah, you can use the built in microphone. But I recommend having an external microphone. The Blue Yeti or the any snowball or blue snowball are pretty good proven microphones that don't cost too much. Personally, I'm using the H five zoom recorder, and once you have the my connect IDs, you can see the sounds being monitored. You can select the for Mike's over from the inputs so you can see how H five connected. I'm doing stereo, and you can put the name of the file all over here, and if you have multiple events, you can select which event you want this to be created in. You can select if you want to count down. And if there's audio in the video clip which there is here, you can select a mute that I usually just put the moaner off. Otherwise it creates this Ah, distortion echo. And so I'm just gonna demo this by prison court. I'm not actually record a voiceover because I'm doing a screen recording with the age five Mike Ready? But what you would do is hit that one there so you can see it's going through the video and this is where actually talk. Okay? It actually didn't record on you just to see what The way you see it's going through the video. All right, so that's how we dio voiceover in final come pro X. 12. FCPX text and color board presets: in this lesson, I wanted to introduce you to how to use the color board presets and also custom text presets. So why would we want to do this? Let's just say we're editing the video projects and we have video clips that are shot in a similar location with similar lighting. And we spent a lot of time figuring out a really nice color profile, and we don't want to forget that we don't wanna We want to reuse it, so that's a good opportunity to create a color preset. So what I'm gonna do is quickly go to Inspector Command for if it's not open. And I'm just going to I know this There is a black borders there, so I'm just gonna scale in and go to the color board. Yeah, So let's just say I want more saturation in this. It's gonna have some fun with this. Yeah, okay, let's just say I love this purple pre sent. I can click presets and save it, and no, I can apply this preset to other clips. So there's one for the funnel cut presets, which you can also use, and you can create your own over there so that there's mine. And you can also experiment with the ones that final cut Pro X also includes. And you can also go to third party sites. They have presets that they Sella's Well, maybe they're trying to sell a film look, process, which are quite popular. Okay, lets just jump over to text. No. All right, So let's just say you've got some text and you've also spent a lot of time modifying the look. There's a lot of different changes you can make to text. You got the size alignments. Doesn't have a drop shadow All these things. No, I can't even change the substance. So it's just Satch into the gold and change the thickness. Okay, so let's say I like this new presets and want to save it That can say congratulations goals So I can always recall this text. I can't even this. Let's just say I've brought this in here and I wanna recall my templates so I can go to my congratulations goals. Welcome. So there we go. So we're covered a little about how to use the color presets, how to make your own and save one and the same with the text. Hope you enjoyed this video lesson 13. FCPX bonus synching vid and audio: Hi. In this video, I'm actually doing some editing for a new course that I'm making called posts MBA. And I'm just gonna walk you through How, Reddit? One of these videos. This is a good example of recording video feed and a separate audio feed and then sinking them together. And I've covered multi campsite ups, but this is mawr off. A typical workflow, if you're doing talking, had videos on your own. So use the deejay Osmo and really helps me record good video. And I recorded the on board mic audio, and then I recorded a separate audio feed. So what I've done just to prep myself for the edit is to actually go through the videos just to label them so this will help me match up which videos go with which audios have done the same on the audio here. And what I'm gonna do is edit this video cold group work. I was gonna highlight both the video and audio and drag them into the MBA event folder. All right. And then in the event, I can highlight these both. Ideally, you should wait for final cut pro x two, render these, but they're not that big compared to four K video files. So I'm just gonna go ahead here, so highlight both the video and the audio in the event browser, and then I'm gonna is right. Click and synchronize the clips and you could just leave these olds default. It's gonna create a secret NYSE clip based on the audio was check box here. So that's why I mentioned I recorded the audio on my camera so that the audio file can match up to the audio in the video so that should not take too long. And the secret NYSE clip has this icon here that looks sort of looks like a paperclip. What I like about the previous added that I did. I'm just gonna take away that window to increase my timeline. So already edited one video and I want to keep the title because A I want to maintain a similar look. So this is probably a bad habit. I mean, you could just create a separate project and this copy over the title, but I've already exported that previous projects, so I just wanna drag this new one in so I could just play this back in this video. I'm gonna talk about group work. Specifically, I touch Summit earlier when I was talking about not working, but okay, so just based on the playback, So press space bar to play back, I can tell that the audio and the video has sink correctly. So what I have to do here is just disable the video from Sorry, disable the audio from the camera so I can recognize the audio because it's close to peaking here. It's a little. It's a high audio recording and it's gonna play back just to see what is the right one in this video. I'm gonna talk about group work. Specifically, I touched on it earlier when I was talking about not working, but all right, that's it. And I'm just gonna go through the regular at a processing, gonna listen to it and trim its and then put things like titles like these over here that I did on the previous at it so that things like golf, we're and I'm probably just going to If I need to put any lower thirds titles, I'm just going to use the same and remember to delete the previous lesson. Of course, we're to trash. Okay, so this is a basic example of doing a talking have video and just sinking your video and audio and final compro x pretty basic. But you need to remember to record the audio on your camera's mike. Otherwise, the separate audio recording feed won't have any reference to sink it to. Okay. FCPX how to sharpen footage: How do you sharpen your footage in final cut Pro X using the built in sharpening tool and I most going to introduce a sharpening plugging that I made that gives you a lot more capability to sharpen and final cut pro X. I've made a video on this before, but I've just updated my operating system and final cut pro X. So, uh, this is the updated demo version 10.3 point three. And let's just check my operating system over here. And, of course, there's always gonna be updates so amusing. I'll copy ton 10 points, 11 point six. So I've got some random video clips from Cape Town, South Africa, a great place to visit for video, and it's cheap. Create weather, not the safest place. But we happen to have an Airbnb with a great view of Table Mountain. So let's start with that. So the built in sharpening plugging is actually located on the effects browser, but you can access with that icon under Blur. I'm not sure why it's under Blur, but that's where this guy is, so we can actually just drag that over and pretty basic, your we can adjust the sharpening amounts. This is really good for video footage coming from the counter. Nestle. Ours with footage, has been known to be mushy. All right, let's take that off so you can see the difference over there. No, if you need a bit more flexibility, I have a sharpening plug in that I've made available. And I'll just demo how that works on the same video clip. All right, so we can see you got a lot more options here. We have intensity, the amounts, which is the same setting that we had on the default sharpening. And we got the mix there, all right. And I have a great explanation off what each of these three things does, and I'll just point you to the link there if you're interested in this shopping plug in. But I didn't want to pitch this too hard. When you've got the default Scharping that gives you the amounts and the adjustable. So let's just do some sharpening to another clip so I can see the difference that it does make. In this case, the footage is already quite sharp. This is a four K video clip shot with DJ I Oslo. The other clip was shot in HD with a canon SLR. So I find Canon SLR footage is not a sharpened requires some sharpening at times depending on how you shot it. Okay, so hope you found this sharpening tutorial helpful. 15. Summary fcpx: congratulations on finishing the final cut Pro X course. Thank you for taking it. I hope you learned along and we'll take away a lot that you can use for your jobs or however you use final cut Pro X. It wasn't the most popular program to video headed back in 2011. There was a lot of backlash from the online videographer community, but thankfully, in 2017 Apple is supported it and you can still at it and do amazing things with the cameras in 2017. Like DJ, I'm abig drones. Panasonic GH five cameras so we can edit the four K footage. You don't need to know everything to create professional great stuff with final cut pro X so my vice would be to try not to overwhelm yourself with too much information. I see 3 to 4 hour long courses on final cut Pro X, and you know, I think the most effective way to learn is to just start using it. And if there's something you need to know, then you can look it up. The lessons I've included in this course are actual tasks and projects that I use. Final cut Pro X four on a regular basis. So I hope you find a very, very practical.
