Project Description

45 second, original video with awesome visuals and music.

Create and upload either:

1) 45 second, original video where music drives the story

or

2) Your edited showreel

Either project should use the creative music edits, effects, creative color correction, and pacing techniques covered in this class. This assignment will teach you how to make fundamental edit decisions and implement them.

You’ll also learn my process for:

  1. Using free stock footage and audio resources so that you can create your own original video from scratch and for free.
  2. Setting up a Premiere Pro CC project and managing the assets folders so you can stay organized.
  3. Developing an overall story thread that ties the video together.
  4. Editing to music and how to seamlessly alter the track duration and make the music more compelling.
  5. Creating pace and unexpected changes to the visuals in your edit so that your video feels more engaging and exciting.
  6. Using overlays, transfer modes, dissolves and scale changes as storytelling devices.
  7. Using creative color correction.
  8. Creating an animated title using the title tool and some simple effects.
  9. Exporting the video.

You’re encouraged to submit your brainstorming ideas and works in progress so I can give you feedback and guide you towards stronger edits.

You’ll finish the assignment with a powerful, 45 second video or a bulked up showreel that you can off to a potential client!
