About This Class

This class is for people who like Flowers. Is there anyone who doesn't like flowers? In this class, I will show you, how you can paint flowers with just few watercolors. We will work from photos of flowers you have taken, for inspiration and reference. I will show, how you can draw a few simple petals and leaves and composition for a painting. Alternatively, you can download and print the sketches, I have attached. I will teach you two techniques for painting flowers. Paint along with me and frame your work of art.

This class is for everyone who wants to try their hand at painting. Practice drawing simple petals, leaves and then paint those flowers. You can make a bunch/bouquet or just a single large flower with leaves.

Materials:

  • Pencil
  • Eraser
  • Regular Paper
  • Watercolors (any brand) 2 colors for flowers 1 green (Sap Green) color for leaves
  • Watercolor paper (any brand will work) I like to have texture in mine so I use (Strathmore 300 series)
  • Brushes (I used size 1 and liner pen mostly) brands like Winsor and Newton or Princeton
  • Water
  • Palette
  • Paper towel
  • Liner pen (micron pen)

WHAT YOU WILL LEARN:

  1. You will draw simple shapes of petals and leaves. (The easier the better)
  2. You will learn how to transfer your drawing on watercolor paper. (You don’t need light box for this one. I will show you a technique that will make you laugh but works well.)
  3. We will limit our color palette to just a few colors. You will learn TWO TECHNIQUES (LAYERING AND WET-ON-WET) and apply them on the florals.
  4. Finally finishing your work.

Hello Everyone! I am Veda Murthy. I am an Artist, Teacher and Surface Pattern Designer. I love working with different mediums. I teach Acrylic painting and Watercolors to children and adults in my local area. Mixed Media is my favorite and I do customised art work for my clients in this medium.

Watercolors are my favorite medium too, as they are portable. You can have a few colors, brush and a watercolor journal and you can do wonders. Whatever medium I choose, one thing that you will ...
