1. Class introduction: power points is one of the most powerful Softwares in presentation making and is used by millions of people on one of the core features of the software is shapes. So in this class we will learn how to insert a shape, how to modify its properties like the size, the fill color and many others. We'll also learn how to create a customized shape by modifying its points. Then we will see how to handle multiple shapes by grouping and merging them. And finally, we will learn how to use shapes to create icons. Toe am bullish our slide At the end, you will have a final project to practice on what you're gonna learn all along this class. So open your software and see you in the first video. 2. Insert a shape: welcome to the first video of the class, where we will just learn what are the different available shapes and power point and how to insert a shape in our slide. But first know that you can see all the keys and clicks I'm doing. Have the left of the screen. Inserting a shape is really simple. You just have to click on insert in the ribbon. Then you click on shapes. This book's will appear where you can find the difference. Thunder chips available in Power Point I said standard, because we will be able to create customized ones to insert a shape. You just have to select the one you want. Then, in the slide, you click from the beginning point to the endpoint. Let's start with lines. You can insert a simple straight line like this. You just select it and you put it in the slide on. We also have other types of arrows, and we have also the basic shapes, like rectangles. Here we insert a rectangle like this. It's very easy. You have also rectangles with rounded corners with snippet corners. You also have cycles, triangles, politicians and so on. You also have block arrows, straight ones and curved ones. You have flow charts to make diagrams, and you have other shapes, like stars. Banners call out that are useful. Sometimes in the next video, we will learn how to modify a shape, properties, length height, fill color shadows and many other properties before moving to the next video. Just make sure to right, click on shapes in the ribbon, then click on as too quick access toolbar so you can insert shapes directly from the toolbar to gain time. You can also do it for any other power point properties you often use. See you in the next video. 3. Edit shape properties: Welcome to this video, where we will learn how to modify a shape properties. First, let's insert a basic shaped like a rectangle. We can modify its position by selecting it, and then you stay collect on it and you move your mouse to change position all you can. Move it using the four directional arrows on your keyboard. You can also change the shape fail. From here, you can select a color from thes ones. All you can click on more feel colors to choose a customized one. Oh, you can just put no feel if you want it transparent. There is other ways to fill a shape, like gradient or with an image. We'll see them in few minutes. Same thing For the outline. You can select the collar. You can modify the type of dashes on the with off the outline. If you want to. Thick or thin, you can also modify the size by staying collect on these points on the side or on the corners. If you want to avoid modifying the ratio between width and height, you can also stay pressed on shift key like this on if you want to change the side symmetrically stay pressed and control key like this, you can do both at the same time. If you stay pressed on control and shift simultaneously, we can also rotate the shape by saying Click on this and we just retained the shape. By moving the moths, you can also directly modify the height and the width. From here you can set in a medical value. For example, here will set the height at five Sunday matters, and you can set the with, for example, 10 centimeters. And we get this. You can also do rotations. Let's change the shape to better visualize the effective flirtation. You can rotate 90 degrees from the left from the right or mighty degrees from the left or flip vertically are horizontally. You can also write text on a shape. Let's first go back to the rectangle again. It's better to write on the rectangle. You just like the shape and start typing on. You can apply all text properties so you can change the found the font color the font size on many other things. Let's move now to the former shape. You just have to right click on the shape and select former cheap. This right bar will appear and here we can change all shape properties. Evan, the ones we've seen until now. So here you have three parts. 1st 1 is about filling the shape of the outline. 2nd 1 is for shapes, FX like the shadow. The glow of the three D rotation as the third part is for the shape size of the position on the textbooks. Let's start with the 1st 1 As we said earlier, there is multiple methods to fill a shape we can choose no feel. Here's it. So the inside will be transparent. We can choose so it feel by choosing the color here, we can also choose grad and feel picture Phil. Or you can put a texture like this. Or you can put a pattern like this, or you can truth the slide background field so it will follow the background for the outline. You can choose no line solid lion are a Grady int line. Second part. Now you can put a shadow to your shape. Just choose a press it on a collar, for example. Here we will choose green, and you can modify the properties. For example, the Blur the angle, the transparency, the size on the distance from the shape. Same thing for the reflection, the glow on the soft edges. You can also do three. The irritation like this. You can't mortify the three dimensions positions. Third part. Now we have to hide the with the rotation. You can also modify the position by setting a distance from the top left corner or the slide center. It's as you want. You can also do modification on the textbooks, for example, text direction, alignment on margins. So you've seen that there is a lot off properties, but we won't use them all. This video was kind of boring. I know it was just anima rating the different properties, but will side creating interesting things from the next video. So see you there. 4. Edit shape points: welcome to this video where we will learn how to edit points off a shape to create a customized shape. We said that there is standard shapes in power born, but you can basically create any shape starting from standard one. Let's do it right now. First, let's pick a shape, for example, a basic rectangle. And then we're right. Click on it on. We select edit points. Now you can see that we have black dots in the corners. We can pick one and change its position. By consequence, it will modify the shape. You can also select these white dots to create curves, or you can create one from any side of the shape head. Is it quick example to see what we can do here? We're going to create a simple truth check, Mark. So first we insert a rectangle and now, by editing points will create a true check mark like this Onda. Now let's rotated a little bit on. We got our true check Mark. We can just change the failed color to green on Remove the outline. Damn, We got a true check Mark on by using this model on other ones will see that we can create pretty good icons. The nest technique we're gonna see is how to group and merge multiple shapes. See you in the next video. 5. Group and merge shapes: welcome to this video where we will learn how to group and merge shapes. OK. In previous video, we learned how to deal with one single shape. But what if we had multiple shapes? You have to know that we can make groups. So, for example, have these two shapes to select them. You can select an era and your slide like this are you? Stay pressed on shift key and clicking on the elements you want to include in your selection, and now we can group them by right clicking. Then we select group on. We click here. Now they can act as a single element. You still can modify one gentleman from the group by double clicking on it. But you can choose the whole group properties, for example, the size, all the position. And if you want to and group them, you just have to right click and select and group here. So here we have two single ships. You can basically make a group with any number off elements you want, so you can create new things by grouping. Two shapes are more. You can also merge shapes. For example, let's take two cycles to clone an element in power point. You have to state press on control key on your keyboard and you move the mouse by staying clicked. Let's just change the failed collar off the 2nd 1 Now we'll merge them. First we select them. The order is important. Then you go to format here on you select merch. Apes. So here we have five choices. We have the union. You will get the union off the selected shapes or you can combine them. It will remove the intersection or you can do a fragmentation. You will get the intersection as a new element here. Is it like this? Or you can intersect. You will have on Lee the intersection off them. And finally the subtraction. You will get the first selected shapes minus the others. This is why I told you that the selecting order is important. Because if we selected the yellow one first we would get this. We would get this obstruction. So now we've seen how to group and murder chips. In next video, we will learn how to create icons. See you there. Goodbye 6. Create icons using shapes: welcome to this video where we will learn how to create icons. Icons are really useful to represent a thing. Visually, they can be a nice visual element in your slide to avoid having Onley text. So let's start. We will use all what we learned about shapes to create them. The most important step to create an icon is to decompose what you want to represent two basic shapes that we can group together to form and I can. A simple example is a modifying glass. We can clearly see that a modifying glass is made off a cycle and a rectangle with 45 degrees rotation to the left. So let's talk first we take cycle and from here we said the same value to hide and with to get an lie circle, for example, four centimeters. Now we're for the cycle by a light blue. You can also put no feel if you want on for the outline. We put a strong brown outline by increasing the with. So we have our first element. Now we need the 2nd 1 which is the rectangle. We insert one. We feel it with brown and now we put a 45 degrees rotation to the left. Now we joined both and regroup them. And here we got a nice modifying glass that we can use in our slides. Second example will make a camera. If we're in the life, the camera will first need a rectangle with rounded corners and inside we have two cycles. Let's start with a small one. Let's make to center matters by two centimeters on we feel it with black aunt. We put it in the center off our rectangle. Let's clone it to make a bigger one, we will select three centimeters by three. Now we modify the collar. We make it light gray and used these two elements to bring forward a shape on sand backward . So we will put it here. Then we need the smaller tangle here. So here we have a smaller Tunggal. Then we have this kind of trap aside. We can take it from here and we put it in the center. We move the outline and we select great done and finally, to create this flash effect, we have to be creative. How can we get this shape? We will first great Four cycles off four centimeters of diameter. And inside we put the square off four centimeters side who insert four centimeters on. We put it in the middle like this. And now we selected first on with Step. Tried the cycles on. We got this flash so we can remove the outline and felt with gray on. We put it here and now we just group them all on. We got our camera here, is it? We got our camera. We can modify its size. We can put it anywhere. We want an hour slide. Third and Lex example. We will make a Howard Glass that we will use for our final project. If we decompose the Howard Glass, we get these elements first. We will make the bottom part. Let's first use this shape. Now let's do a rotation like this. Let's fill it with Gray. And now we need the two rectangles with brownfield and black outline like this, we can zoom like this. Now let's group the bottom part and clone it on. We just do a rotation. So we got the upper part Onda. We joined them. Now let's make the sand for the up part. Let's make a triangle let's do a rotation to flip vertically on. Then let's put it like this to fit the size. Let's just remove the outline on. We put this color that represents son on for the bottom part. We have a rectangle here. Let's insert a rectangle with the same color on Let's add this shape to represent the falling sand on. If we group everything we got our Howard glass that we can use in your next project on in your final project off this class. So he we made Onley three Aikens, but you can use your imagination to create a lot off customized icons on Now get ready for the final project where you will have to create this line. See you there. 7. Class conclusion: We're right, Theo. End of this little class about shapes. I hope you learn new things that you will be able to use in your future works. Don't forget to do the project and give me your review about the class. And if you want to see other ones like this, don't forget that you can create amazing things with basic things like this. Do have a stunning presentation at not just plan text have to see you soon. Goodbye.
