Project Description

Edit a photo to stand out on social media.

Your assignment is to edit a photo to help you stand out on social media. Whether this for your personal brand or your business, you might create:

  • a profile picture
  • a header or "cover" photo for Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, or your blog
  • a quote and/or watermarked image for Pinterest

You're welcome to use any photo editing software or apps you'd like. If you'd like to use PicMonkey (available for free), see the links in the resources below.

Most importantly, think about what make sense for your brand, where your audience lives, and where they are most likely to see the images. What will drive impact? What will extend your style, look, and feel? And of course: have fun!

Use your project workspace as an ongoing place to document your progress, share your learnings, and post your work.

1. Introduce yourself!

  • Get started by sharing links and a short description of you and your brand.

2. Edited photos

  • Show the results of one of the projects listed above, or show a different way you've used photo editing to stand out on social media. Consider including before and after images from your project.

3. Screengrabs

  • Show how you're using your new photos on your site, blog, or other channels.

4. Learnings or surprises

  • Any tips or tricks you picked up? Share them with the class!
