Project Description

Draw a Geometric Pattern

ASSIGNMENT

Create a geometric pattern by first drawing your pattern, and then vectorizing your design. This assignment will teach you how to make artistic decisions in your initial pattern design, like what elements to begin with, which elements to repeat, techniques for drawing symmetrically, and tips for taking your sketch into the digital world and vectorizing your drawing.

Be sure to download the Project Guide, which will help you navigate the project with step-by-step Adobe Illustrator processes, images from the videos, and pattern elements to help jumpstart your design.

DELIVERABLE

Post your final geometric design, and any process work you’d like to show in the Project Gallery to share with your fellow students and receive feedback! A complete project will include:

  • geometric pencil sketch
  • final vector design
