Project Description

For the class project, your mission is to illustrate the animal of your choice using the techniques you've learned in this class.

  • Step 1: Choose your animal.  Be kind to yourself and choose something simple for your first attempt.  I always find it's easiest to apply new skills when I work on something less complex.  You can always choose a more complex animal for later attempts.
  • Step 2: Look at reference photos of your chosen animal and do a few sketch studies.  Do as many sketches as you need to feel comfortable drawing the animal, but try to do at least one page of sketches.
  • Step 3: Define your animal's unique characteristics and use those to complete your shape practice sheets.
  • Step 4: Now complete your final illustration from sketch to completed piece.  Post your final illustration to share with the class.

I can't wait to see what you create!
