Over the past years, I have personally tested all the focus and productivity techniques that you will be learning in this course. And I can tell you that each of them is a jewel in its own right!

What did we cover so far?

  • In class 1, we discussed the foundation for this series. All the productivity techniques were briefly introduced to you, and you learned the first awesome technique: The ping pong ball exercise!

  • In the 2nd and 3rd class, we went a bit more in-depth and asked the questions: What is focus, and why do you need it? You also learned three new techniques to increase your focus and boost your productivity.

  • In class 4, we went one level deeper again. We discussed how focus can be trained like a muscle. And you will learn 4 simple steps to developing a razor sharp focus! And you learned trataka, the technique Rasputin used to develop “shining steel-like” eyes.

  • Focus isn’t just a mental thing. In class 5 you learned how a healthy diet, regular exercise and enough sleep are really the foundation of focus. And then we started discussing meditation. Because this is a very important technique, we will spend class 5, 6 and 7 discussing it. In class 5 you learned what meditation is, and how it can help you boost your productivity. There are many scientific studies that have shown that a regular meditation practice improves focus, learning and memory, and also develops cognitive skills.

  • In this 6th class, we’re turning to the meditation practice. You will learn how to meditate: how to sit, what to do, how long to meditate and when to do it. And you will start with your very first (short) meditation! This way you can personally experience how meditation can sharpen your focus and boost your productivity!

In this six class, you will learn how to meditate, how to sit, what to do, how long to meditate and when to do it. And it goes seven. You're actually going to meditate? If this is your first time meditating, don't worry. I will guide you through every step and going to be really simple. I will personally talk you through the process. All you have to do is follow my lead. So let's get started. Shall we 3. Meditation - Introduction: So how do you meditate if you're a beginner? At the meditation practice, I recommend that you start with focusing on the breath. The breath is a bridge between the subconscious mind and unconscious mind between your mind and your body. Follow me. In the simple exercise, we're going to take one conscious breath, just one inhalation and want X elation. That's all. We don't control it. We just observe it. Ready? Go. If you've never meditated before, Congratulations. You just set your first step on a meditation path. 4. Meditation - How To Sit: So how should you sit in a meditation start? By finding a quiet, still space, It is important that you will not be disturbed or distracted. Sit in a comfortable position. You can choose to sit cross legged, with or without a cushion, but it is also perfectly fine if you sit on a chair in meditation. It is not about how you look, but about what's happening on the inside if you're sitting cross legged it, but you're experiencing discomfort from the very beginning. I don't meditate in that position. Just don't do it. You can always choose to work on your flexibility so you can sit cross like it in future meditations. But for now, accept the limitations off your body. Where do you sit cross legged or on a chair? In both cases is crucial that you sit up straight. Here's how you get into the right position. Place one hand on top of your head roughly at where baby's fontanel is located. Any other end at the lower end of your spine, push a lumber area a little bit to the front, roll your shoulders back and expand your chest. A little trick to help you finding the right position is to pull your chin in a little bit . Finally, imagine that someone is pulling you up a little from the top of your head as if you were a puppet on the string. Now place your hands in your lap or on your lacks threat to maintain his position during your meditation practice. 5. Meditation - How To Meditate: Now you know how to sit in a meditation practice. But how do you actually meditate? Let's go over a meditation where you focus on the breath, sit in a meditation position and close your eyes. Start with observing your breath, going in and out. You can count your breath, Francis, by counting to 10 them back. However, don't try to control or change your breath. Simply observed, the way to breath goes in and out. Naturally, I would not be unusual, as should begin to follow the breath for thoughts to enter the mind. That's okay. There are your friends simply allowed him to come and go like clouds passing through a vest sky. Should you notice that your attention becomes hijacked by Jane of narrative thought and you're not focus on your breath anymore. Congratulate yourself. This is actually a moment of mindfulness off, seeing what the mind is doing. Meditation is not interesting for your monkey mind. Meditation is not entertaining when you realize your mind is one that off gently bring your attention back to the breath. In this way, the breath helps us to Ankara Attention in the present moment. Think of the mind as a puppy you have a puppy in your kitchen is going to run around, is going to pee in a corner, but you wouldn't get upset. Instead, you would look at it, smile and think It's just a puppy. It doesn't know any better. I'm trained and unfocused. Mind is like that puppy. It will learn to meditate with practice. If it wonders, Don't get upset. Simply smile and notice. It is a puppy now, but it will learn in time. Keep your focus on the breath keeping, Observing the breath coming in, going out. Once you finish your meditation, don't immediately get up. Stay in the same position for a while. Allow yourself to come back by staying with your eyes closed and observing the effects of your meditation practice. 6. Meditation - When To Meditate: you could meditate anywhere and at any time, but some circumstances are better than others. It will be best meditate in the morning or in the evening before you go to bed. Those times is off, the more quiet, both outside and in your head. Also, don't eat a pizza right before your meditation practice. Meditation is much more challenging if you've just eaten a big meal. Or if you just finished your third espresso off the day, make meditation a habit. It is better to meditate for 10 minutes per day than for one hour every two weeks. If you've never meditated before, start with just a couple of minutes. Once you get the hang of it extended your final to meditation. Practice will get much more depth, and your focus will grow when you meditate longer. 7. Meditation - How Long Should You Meditate: if you want to meditate for a fixed amount of time, for instance, 30 minutes, I recommend that you use a timer with a gentle sound for bringing you back. Not this. Instead, something like this would be recommendable. 8. Meditation - Helpful Tools: If you're new to meditation practice, it might be challenging to concentrate. To help you get started. You can download a guided meditation in the next lecture. It's an MP three format, so you can use it whatever you want, wherever you want. Also, there are number of helpful tools that you can use to start practicing meditation. One of the most well known abscess called hat space but unethical to calm is also really good. Now you know the basics of meditation. I recommend to download a guided meditation and start breakfasting, and to wrap it up, you something to spin your head around. Spiritual master once said to me, Do the opposite of wherever I tell you, so I didn't. 9. Project Assignment: as an assignment. I want you to practice meditation for one minute. It doesn't have to be perfect. Don't expect to be a completely different person after just one minute of meditating. The one minute is a start. It's the first step in what could become a path. Your project for this class is really simple. Please share with me and your fellow students how you felt when your meditated for one minute was it easy? Where did you find it? Challenging.
