About This Class

Collage making has been around since the 20th century and first made popular by Pablo Picasso and Georges Braque in 1912, The word Collage is derived from the french word for "glue". Collage was a major turning point in the emergence of modernist art that changed the scope of the visual art world. This 100 year old form of art has gained in popularity for young and old alike, bringing enjoyment and fulfillment to all who embark upon this activity!

In this class I will guide you through the steps it takes to create a mixed media collage using fabric, magazine pictures that you will cut out. This will be a class that you can utilize your wildest and most daring imagination to create something humerous, strange, colorful, fascinating or just memories from your own life. Feel free to let your spirit guide you as to what your theme will be. This is your collage!

Each video will give you more insight as I guide you through how I am doing my own collage. I will show you what I've done so that you can get an idea of the possibilities. You can start by doing a step at a time and return to the video as many times as you need to until you have successfully created a beautiful collage that you can be proud of.

The class is not intended to be a step-by-step blueprint for you, unless you desire it to be. It is intended merely to function as a guide that you may use to create something that reflects your personality. Beginners and experienced collage makers alike will feel a sense of accomplishment when they are finished their work of art. You do not have to feel rushed or meet any imposing deadlines. Just relax and create!

At the end there's a class assignment in the Class Project section that is simply to upload four pictures showing your progress. I will explain it in the Project section.

I hope you enjoy this class and have fun!
