This course is about improving your ability to taking the little bad things in your life and reverse engineering them to create a positive impact. By taking a hard reflection at their life, they will be able to see that life isn't a grand scheme of several big things, rather a compilation of many, many small things.

You'll learn how the small things in your life can really add up and make a significant difference.

The core of this Simplified Minimal Habits course involves 5 Sections:

How this new course will change your life and propel you to your goals:

This course teaches how to create good habits, destroy bad habits, and reflect on your life for the future of the habits. By implementing the concepts in this course, students will be able to change their lifestyle into the one they truly want.

The course will require 1 hour of watching, taking notes, and reflecting on the videos for the first week, and 2-3 weeks for the course exercise of jotting down the bad habit. It won't be easy - but if you put in the work, you are guaranteed to succeed.

1. Introduction : How's it going, everyone? My name is Austin Chin, and I'm going to be your instructor for it's the small things that really matter nothing about this entire course. What I'm going to do and what I'm going to give you is I am going to give you life scenarios and big life topics. For example, finance, productivity, health, just to name a few. And with these, I'm going to tell you why. It's the little things that truly matter and how you can get rid of them if you aren't in the goal, if you aren't in the place that you want to be. Now, if this is the only video that you watch from this entire course, that's completely OK because as long as you get the concept and as long as you understand it, you can use this concept for pretty much any aspect of your life as long as it's applicable . So the concept goes like this. It is the small things that matter. It is accumulation of the small little things each and every single day or each and every single time that you do an activity that really does matter because it's fair to say that our life isn't made up of big, massive things that our lives encounter every single day. It's made up of small changes. It's made up of small habits every single day. And how does that impact her life is pretty much the confounding variable that controls our lives. Let me give you an example, and I'm going to talk about it. Mawr after. But when it comes to have it change, small changes are. What everyone preaches is what everyone talks about those small things that matter every single day. And when you try to make a new habit change, it's not that when you change your habit, you're not going to make this one massive change in your life because it's not sustainable . What you do is a little by little by little by little, and it's like a calm, pounding effect every single day that you add something you increase, and it eventually makes this massive change. After a couple of weeks, I'm going to get more specific when it comes to the actual sections of the course. But that is the concept of the small things that matter every single day or every single time that you do an activity. It is the small things that add up. It's not these one big chunks of time that are big, and it happens every so often. But it's every single day, every single time that really matters and really adds up. So I'm going to go into specifics later in the other section. So if you want to skip to a separate video, go to that one. There really isn't a specific outline for the course. Just go and do whichever one feels and most applicable to you. But I do have a guiding question, Teoh, for all of you to ask yourselves before you start off with this course. In what aspect is my life applicable to this concept? Now think about this and Pond Ridge and maybe even write it down. And if you have something that's not specifically in this course section, then you can go on to the last couple of videos where I talk about either breaking bad habits or creating good habits. With this concept, this was the It's the small things that really matter introduction. I will see you guys in the next video 2. Finance - The Small Things: This is the finance section about. It's the small things that really matter. Let's get into it now if you somewhat understand the concept of the small things that really matter, this should be an easy video. But if not, here is exactly what I mean about. It's the small things that really matter in finance. Imagine, in one month either you have two choices. Either number one. You would buy one expensive bottle of wine for a let's, say, $30 or for every single day you would go and get coffee at Starbucks for $4. Now, at first, some of you may think that the one expensive bottle of wine is much more expensive than if I were to go every single day to Starbucks. Now some of you may think that the one bottle of wine is much more expensive than if I were to get Starbucks every single day. Just for the sake of the video, I have used lower numbers just to express my point, but when it comes to this in one month, let's say there's 30 days 30 times four equals $120 now $120 versus the one bottle of wine for $30 this four times the amount of what you're actually paying in a month, compared to every single day of getting Starbucks or going one time for an expensive bottle of wine. Now most of you get the concept now, but it is the small things that matter every single time in finance, every single day that you spend on a small thing that is minuscule. You like. You know what? It's okay if I buy this. It's okay if I buy this because it's so small. But if you have that mentality every single day, that's when it starts really mattering. Now why does it matter? Because when you have this mentality, when you have this mentality of buying every single day of Hey, it's not that much every single day that you have this mentality you are feeding into your brain of Hey, it's not that much. I can afford it. And when you do that every single day, that's when it really starts to compound into something really big. Just like that example of Starbucks versus buying that wine every single day you buy Starbucks. You don't think that It's a really big purchase. It's really, really small every single day and every single day it adds up. Ultimately, after you know why this matters and why having a mindset like this is bad for you. I'm going to tell you how it affects you, other than realizing that you are spending a lot more money than you are supposed to you when you realize that every single day that you may be spending on something minuscule. Or let's say you buy Amazon Prime and you buy a couple small things here and there, maybe once every two weeks you buy something small that starts to add up, and you are actually losing a lot more money than if you bought some big thing. I know what happened for me was when it came to buying headphones. I would buy multiple multiple low quality headphones because I didn't think that this one big investment was worth it. So what happened was I would buy 5 to 10 headphones that weren't that good quality and eventually I decided, You know what? I'm going to buy this one big purchase of really good headphones, and I've been using them for a year now, and I have not gone back to the low quality headphones. So instead of spending $50 per head phone every single time and spending it a couple times , I have bought it once, and now I have forgotten about it. That's all I spent my money on and the quality so high. I don't need to worry about spending any extra money. So if you have fallen trapped to buying small things here and there, here is exactly what you can do about it. It may seem a little tiresome, but here's what I want you to do by a notebook, and it doesn't even matter how good quality the notebook is. Just by one notebook that you can carry around everywhere and every single time that you buy something, write it down. I want you to do is I want you to write down the date, the item and also how much it costs, depending on how much of an avid spender that you are, Whether it would be one week, two weeks, one month, six months, I want you to review how much in bought and really look at the frequency of how many times you bought small things by a small notebook, something that you can carry around easily and go right down the thing you bought, the date you bought it and also the price in which you bought it for every single time that you buy something and that will remind you of how much it really matters for these small things. Let's say you don't fall into this trap yet. Here's how to avoid it. Before you buy something, ask yourselves two questions. Number one is Do I really need this? And number two is. Will this last meet in the future? After reflecting on those two questions and saying maybe yes to both of them, that you do need it and it will help you in the future than that is really a smart decision to buy. So think about those things when it comes to the small things in your life. This was all about finance. Apply the rules and move on to the next video. I'll see you guys in the next lectures 3. Productivity - The Small Things: this is going to be the It's the small things that really matter in product if he and time management. So what is it? It's those small distractions, those little small distractions every single day. That is what distract you from getting a full, very productive work day done now as an example for me, what I used to do was I would boast about having a 12 to 15 hour day work day in the summer , and it was true I was working that amount of time. It was until I realized what I was spending those hours on because when I checked my phone and it has this new feature of seeing how long used your phone for, and I saw that I was using it for 34 hours a day and other than sleep, eating and breaking. Sometimes I had roughly 14 hours a day to actually go and work. Now I check my phone and it said 3 to 4 hours. So in reality, I was working maybe like 9 10 hours every single day. That's not even to say that those were fully productive work hours that could say that it was distracted work hours. Maybe I was on my phone for half the time and once I put down my phone are still thinking about it. But really, those hours were wasted because I had the small notifications, small distractions that were distracting me. So why does this matter? This matters because every single day that you have these small things that distract you, it will take 10 2030 30 minutes to an hour for your brain to go back to the its optimal state of you in deep work, for example, you start working for 30 minutes and you are completely in the zone. You're ready. You're doing the thing that you absolutely love working on. And you're absolutely in the zone. You got your headphones in, you're ready to work. And you are getting so much work done. Only a notification comes up, you go to check it, and it's a text from your best friend. And they say, Do you wanna hang out? And just from that you are out of the zone, your brain goes completely somewhere else. You start making decisions in your mind like hey, where should we eat? Where should we go? And really, it's that one notification that is thrown off what could have been 2 to 3 or even more hours of fully productive work. This isn't to say it's just for social media. It's for any distraction that you have inside a day, anything that keeps you from being and having a full length of productive work. This matters because all you need to do is remove some distractions in your life, and suddenly you could be working towards your goal. You could start that new company. You could start anything that you want, all because you had removed a couple small distractions. In this case, it really is the small things that truly matter. It's the small things that you eliminate in your life that really make the biggest difference. And as I said before, how does this affect you after you are working for an optimal stage of, Let's say, two hours and suddenly a notification comes up, your friend goes to talk to you. You get distracted somehow. It's a really small distraction, but after that distraction for the next 2030 minutes, your brain is still focused on that activity. It takes a long time for you to actually re focus in on what you are actually doing. Because even if you go to check your email for, let's say, two minutes just to check your email, what happens is your brain needs to go to a different state to go to that email state like Okay, there are different rules for okay when it comes to opening emails, this is how the layout of the page goes, and your brain is pretty much deciphering all that. In the two minutes that you had gone to check it, it could take 10 1 hour to reset your brain to what you're actually doing pro for This is the action plan. What can you do about this and every single time that you have Distractions number One thing is, I want you to go and install a activity tracker on both your computer and also your phone. No, if you don't like the tracker, use it for at least a week. But this is what the plan is installed. Activity tracker for your computer and also your phone or a tablet, any electron ICS that you actually have or you spend a significant amount of time on first . That's the first thing you should do in the week. Next off, grab a journal or grab a notebook, and you need to document every single minute of your life for the next week. You went to go eat. If you went to go down to the kitchen for two minutes, I want you to write that down. I want you to write down what the active iwas and how long you spend doing it. So this may take a lot of no but space, but it is extremely helpful. And after the entire week of noting down everything that you did inside your week also checking your activity tracker, I want you to reflect on these things that you have reflect on where you're spending all of your time and start making a change. Now, this goes into my last point, and my last point here is if you want to avoid getting into this track or if you want to get out of this trap, you need to be able to get rid of yours because ultimately it is these small distractions, little ones every single day that break up a 12 hour complete work day that is extremely productive into being a six hour, semi productive day where you use your phone because of all these distractions. So think about every single distraction in your life. Write it down. Make sure you know every single distraction that occurs on a daily basis. Write them all down when they happen. And what can you do to avoid each and every single one of them? This was essentially the product to be why the small things really matter. Write everything down. You do not know how crucial this is because time isn't something you get back. This was the small things that really matter. I will see you guys in the next video. 4. Health - The Small Things: this is going to be the health section of the small things that really matter. No. Inside this context, I'm going to be talking about gaining weight and inside your diet. If you are gaining unexpected weight that you don't want to, this is going to be the video about it inside health. I think it is really the small things that truly matter, and for everything else I've talked about, it is really the small things now in health. Let me explain exactly why, because I don't think for most of us we have this one week inside entire year where we eat junk food every single day and where we just completely fill ourselves with bad foods and to the point where we're eating. This is a little extreme, like 1 to 2 to 3 to £5 of food, every single for this one week. I don't think all of us are doing that. I think it's more of a okay, Maybe I'll have a cookie on this day and then I'll have the cookie again. And then again and again again every single day of the week. Those air small things. Those are small changes. It's not this one week. Inside a year where you eat complete garbage, we eat bad foods, and the rest of the year you eat healthy. I don't think it's like that. I think it's small changes, small things, small things that you eat every single day that really make the difference. But why does this matter? You need to be able to find these habits. That am I eating something unhealthy every single day. And it may not even be the crave for hunger or the crave for something sweet. It may just be boredom now. An example. Inside the book The Power of Habit by Charles Do It. He talks about going to the cafeteria every single day to grab a cookie. What happens here is his craving is not for something sweet. His craving is because he's bored, and ultimately he wants some social interaction. Now you need to realize, why are you going out to eat and why are you going to eat this specific thing every single day now for me? I had this unhealthy period in my time where I would every single day out by a small bag of chips, and it was small It was like those lays super small bags of chips and you'd buy a pack of 50 of them for, like, $10 I would eat one every single day. And I knew some people who were eating big bags of chips every single day and they would do it maybe, like, once or twice a month. And really, I thought they were worse than I was, but I was essentially doing the same thing. Small bag of chips every single day. And how it and how it can affect me was I felt bad every single day that I was eating unhealthy. And how it can infect you is you may not realize, but you grabbing a cookie, you grabbing something sweet, you grabbing something unhealthy every single day is a lot worse than actually eating something bad for one day and eating healthy for the rest. Something like this. Something small every day actually compounds. So we get onto the section off the action plan. What can you do about you possibly eating something every single day to gain weight? I've talked about this every single video, but please buy a notebook and think and write about every single thing that you eat every single day. Now, this one, I would recommend that you do for a longer period. Two weeks or more would be ideal. But really, this is what you need to do. Grab your notebook every single time. You eat something every single time, some sort of food goes into your mouth. Put it down. Now here's what I want you do. Also Number one is I want you to write down what food you ate and be specific if you ate four raisins right down four raisins next, right down the calorie count. Now I know for some foods that may be a little harder. For example, for raisins. That's a little That's a lot of math, depending on the calorie count. But really try your best to have the calorie count down also. And lastly, the thing you should have is the time that you aided at By the end of the two weeks, you should have a full schedule of every single thing that you've put inside your mouth inside those two weeks and just take a reflection off that. And when you realize that every single day or every two days, you might have eaten something that was unhealthy, and these are the things that really add up. It's the small things that really, truly matter. Let's say that you haven't fallen into this trap and you don't eat unhealthy every day or you don't have a habit of doing that. Here's how. Do not get into the habit of that eyes that eating something unhealthy every day or the habit of doing so is much worse than maybe one whole month of eating unhealthy and having one cheat day. Eating something on a regular basis that is unhealthy is worse than eating one thing out of the blue. That may be unhealthy once in a month, compared to many small times in one month. Last tip would be to be conscious of what you eat every single day. And if you see ah habit going on off, okay, you go to the cafeteria every single day to buy something, realize what you're eating and use that to your advantage and apply the rules that I've talked about previously in this video. These were the small things that truly matter inside health. Please apply these rules and move on to the other sections for good habits and bad habits and the rest off the course. I will see you guys in those lectures. 5. Bad Habits: you're pretty much got into the action portion of the course. If none of these other rules have applied to you, any of these sections finance, health or product of me if these don't apply to you, this is where you can start impacting your life and start reflecting on your life itself. So if none of those other sections had applied to you, that's completely all right. You can start using this as a reflection to really think about where your life is and where do you want to take it? So this is just going to be an activity. What I want you to do. Grab out a piece of paper and think about the bad habits in your life. Now in one section, I want you to write down all the bad habits in your life. Just one column. Write it down after you completed. So have another section and column and just write down the things and goals that you have but have not been able to achieve just yet. Now, this can include goals that you may feel that you are achieving, but at the same time you're you feel like you're being put even farther away from these goals, you might feel that you're not advancing in this goal or you're even moving backwards. But whatever those goals, maybe write it down now add up the to list together and put them side by side and go through each and every single bad habit or gold that you may have and think about it. Think true and deep. Is this something that small things accumulation? Is this affecting me this way? That sounded a little confusing, I understand. But here's what I really mean are small things holding me back from breaking this bad habit , or are small things holding me back from achieving this goal? Do you have a bad habit because of the small things every single day that you do to it, encourage this behavior or when it comes to the goals? Are you not able to retrieve these goals because of the small things that you fail to do or you do and you're not able to go and achieve the goal because of it? By the end of it, you should have a list of things that you might not be able to accomplish just yet, or you have a list of bad habits, or you might have a mix of both. Now here's what I want you to do. I want you to be self aware about these habits. Whatever may happen throughout the next couple of weeks if you have a goal, if you have a bad habit. And if you want to get rid of that bad habit or if you want to achieve that goal, you need to be self conscious, and you need to be conscious of what's happening in these actions to getting so. Just like I mentioned inside the past three videos the past three sections about productivity, money and health. You need to buy a notebook and you need to record every single time that this small item happens, you can realize how much it impacts you. That's when you can start using this to your advantage and start making some changes in your life. Now this video was extremely unstructured. This was mainly for you to be able to make some changes in your life, so please go and do that. Please go and write down every single thing that I've told you. Start applying these rules and see if you can find something else that the small things really make up an impact in your life. Video was for any small bad habits. I will see you guys in the next lectures. 6. Good habits: How's it going? Everyone In this video, we're going to be talking about how you can use this whole concept of the little things that matter into creating your good habits. Because in this entire course, we've been talking about things that are bad. But inside this video, we're gonna be talking about how you can use this concept to create good. When you think of habit creation, do you think of creating a habit? And the next day it will immediately be implemented. Or do you think of a long term process of every single day in and out, showing up to do that habit and then making sure that you can sustain it each and every single day. Now I'm hoping that all of you have thought of the 2nd 1 because that is really how have it creation goes. It's not this one time thing. When you plan that you're gonna go and make a habit, and the next day it suddenly works. That's not how habits are created. How it really works is you showing up every single day doing it and making small, small, incremental changes every single day. So when it comes to this How can you create good habits when it comes to actually creating habits and how to actually sustain them? This is by making small, small, subtle changes every single day. Now, why does this matter? Why does it matter? That you need to make small changes instead of big ones? Is because the only way you want to make habits in the first place and the only way that you'll be able to keep them is through making small changes at a time. And I think, and I think this entire concept is going to be universal to whenever you want to create a habit or destroy a habit, it needs to be by small increments. I think that once you understand this concept, the use and creation of habits will be much, much easier as you know what it takes to create a habit and all you need to do it's day persistent at it. By realizing this, you'll be able to create habits for the long run. And sometimes I know in my other courses I talk about creating habits in 90 days, and yes, in those 90 days you should be making small improvements. The reason I give you a time frame is not because I expect you to create a habit in seven days and hope that it sticks. I give you the full 90 day plan inside my morning and night habits full 90 days to make sure that you get all the habits. No matter what happens, no matter what habit you're trying to establish, you need to start off with small, small steps. And one thing I would recommend that you look into is called the Kaizen method. All I want you to realize from this entire video the whole take away is that creating good habits will not take a single day. It won't even take a week. It will take a couple weeks until you can actually create this habit. And the only way you can create this good habit is by small little steps at a time. No one big step a couple times a week, but every single day going in, going out every single day, keeping at persistent small, small steps. This is how you can make good habits for the rest of your life. It is truly the small things that actually matter. I'll see you guys in the next lecture 7. Conclusion: congratulations. Now we get onto the part of actually applying this. What I want you to do is I want you to apply the action steps inside every single video that I gave you. Because here's exactly why there isn't any point in purchasing the course or even just enrolling, using your time to enroll in a course and not getting the benefit, because you only enrolling on the course will not help you change your lifestyle by actually applying some of these tips and actually applying it to your life. That's when you get your money's worth. That's when you get your time's worth back so number two would be to apply the things that I've talked about inside this course, apply it in your life. See which parts would apply to you and start using it in your life to really get your time's worth back. So number three is self reflection. What I want you to do before you start applying these rules to your life, here's what I want you to do right down, depending on what aspect of your life you're trying to change. What I want you to do here is write down where you are in your life right now. Well, if you're trying to change up your life in finance, write down how much is in your bank account currently. Now, why I want you to do this is I want you to see the progress in which you're going when you realize that it's the small things that really matter. And when you start eliminating some of those things, how much progress can you actually make in a span of time? When I started realizing that it was the small things that when I bought small things, it actually added up to a really big total and what I did was after one month I would first track how much I had. And then after I would track it again by the end of the month And in that span of time, I could actually see an increase in money instead of a decrease. Just to recap. Number one would be to review the course. Number two would be to apply the rules. And number three would be to do a self reflection. Thank you for taking the course.
