About This Class

Database Architecture Design Chapter 3 - Designing Enterprise Class Distributed RDBMS Systems

Unless you have at a minimum a basic understanding as to how to design, construct and implement a relational database management system, don't even think about signing up for this class. It's not for you.  It will make your eyes glaze over - lol.

But if you do work in this world, this class can help to deepen your understanding of implementing RDBMS systems in corporations on a global scale.  There are some very good insights in this class that, combined with the other classes I am putting together in this series including Chapters 1 and 2 already published, will help you to become a more knowledgeable practitioner in this field and a more valuable resource to your corporation or to the corporations you consult to.

In the first lecture, I discuss referential integrity in RDBMS systems, it's importance and tips as to when and under what conditions you may consider suspending these rules in your physical implementation.

Secondly, I discuss the importance of implementing a meta data repository - otherwise termed an enterprise level data repository for your company as it grows and expands.  If your company sees regular change and modification to it's underlying systems, implementing an ELDR can be a very good idea - so be sure to watch this lecture as well.

So if this class is for you, I look forward to seeing you on the inside.

Best wishes,
Dan Grijzenhout - Class Creator
