About This Class

This class is all about justifying the purchase of a fancy chocolate bar in the name of art!

Just kidding (kind of!)

We're going to be taking gorgeous, studio-quality low-light images with beautiful diffused window light. No studio experience necessary!

Here's what we'll cover:

  1. Identifying the best light in your space and the best times of day to utilize it
  2. Shaping the existing light for a dramatic, high contrast image
  3. Styling a scene with items around the house to tell a compelling story
  4. Reading imagery to understand and replicate lighting and angle styles
  5. Composition basics and tons of miscellaneous tips
  6. Quick technical review about White Balance and Metering
  7. Workflow with a DSLR and iPhone
  8. Editing iPhone images with VSCO app for Instagram

I can't wait to see your photos!

Great class. Worth it for the lighting and iOS camera tricks alone.

I'm not even sure if I'm going to do moody photography, but I am a complete novice and found this so helpful and informative. I have an android phone but some of the features are on there as well and I never knew how to use them. You have such a great teaching manner and style, so relaxed but still thorough. Thanks for taking us through your thinking process and sharing all your tips!
Tabitha is fantastic. I'm a professional shooter and she's extremely adept at taking beautiful and stylized procedures and making them understandable and accessible to all levels of photographer. She's a wonderfully lit diamond in the rough.

Hi! I'm Tabitha and I teach photography classes. I'm a lifestyle portrait photographer for a living and I make that living in the gorgeous state of Utah! I love plants and I knit and I had my appendix removed in 2014 and sometimes I worry that I might need it later to talk to aliens. Other than that I'm pretty normal.
