1. Introduction: Hello there and I'm happy to welcome you to our fourth course, dedicated toe leather crafting In the previous courses, we learn how to make that the breast lit wallet and sandals. In this course, my dad and I are going to show you how to make a fabulous letter back. What is good about this course is that he will need very few materials and tools which can be bought online or in your local shop. And that exciting point is that we're going to teach the back by hand so you will not need to use any suing machine. This is our fourth course on uni dedicated toe leather crafting and how to make leather goods join our leather musters community by interlinking to the scores. 2. Choosing Proper Leather Type.: the most important material in leather crafting is, of course, the letter itself for different purposes. You only different types of weather to make a leatherback. We need cow leather from the cellar, part of the fitness of approximately 2.5 millimeters. Actually, any thickness from 2 to 2.5 millimeters will do. You can choose whatever color you like. As for us, we will use the slight brown leather off 2.6 millimeters thickness. It is not chemically tend, quite flexible and nice looking. It has some distant patterns off its own, which I think will look beautiful when the back is completed. We're not going to diet or apply any additional finishing Claytor. The inside surface is also quite smooth. It has some freezer Poile, as you call it, but it is quite pleasant to touch. Do not use an additional cover from inside. To make our back will need approximately 50 square desk matters, which is equal to 5.5 square feet. It is preferable that you will have a long piece leather because we need to make long belts and laces and stripes from the same leather 3. Patterns. : our back will consist of three main parts, two straps and several smaller parts. As you can see, the main parts have small holes who put laces into them to fix all parts. First, we'll start with the main part in front part. They will be connected by side slash bottom part, and they will be hand stitched with leather laces. Then we will insert the smallholder into the hole inside the front part. It will hold this trip, which will be used to close the back. The stripper also, they fixed with the use of where the laces. And here are some holders that will be fixed to the side part of the back, and they will have a metal ring to hold the main strap of the bag. All these patterns are in the resource is section of this episode. You can download them and print them on the thick court on paper. 4. Sharpen the Knife.: since the letter we're going to use is quite thick. 2.6 millimeters. Don't forget to sharpen your knife. Every time before you cut the leather, you can use special equipment for sharpening or special kind of reason like we use here. 5. Cutting main parts - 1: Let's start with cutting the main part. - Choose the proper place in the leather piece, the one that doesn't have any defects and looks nice. Put something heavy on the pattern so that it doesn't move when you cut the leather. Start slowly but press strongly on the knife when cutting. But now let's come the front part of the back so the part looks pretty good. 6. Cutting main parts - 2: Now let's go out the side slash bottom part of the back. Choose the proper place in your brother and start cutting. Remember to hold the better and tied to the leather. Do not my It seems that we didn't sharpen our knives sharp enough. We'll need to cut this line once again. 7. Cutting straps and laces: Now we need to cut the strips and places for our back. This trip will consist of two parts. The longer part will be approximately 105 centimeters or free feet. The shorter 1 45 centimeters were one in the health food long. But of course, you can make it shorter or longer. If you want. Do not the week off. This trip will be 2.4 centimeters, slightly less than one inch. You can cook your letter piecing diagonal way so that you get the longer line. - Now we will need to cut the races, which we're going to use for fixing the parts of the back. They should be approximately two millimeters wide so that the knife moves even better. You can apply it on the soap or any piece off walks before starting cutting. We will need about six long races. This should be more than enough. - You ? - No , it's called the short of part of this trip. The length should be about 45 centimeters. I got no All right. - Just one more thing. We will need short leather rings to hold two straps together. The week should be about your 0.8 or one centimeter, the length will figure out right now. So then this rink around two straps and cut unnecessary length way we teach them with a friendly. 8. Cutting small parts of bag: Now it's got the remaining parts of the back first really to strap holders on two sides of the back. But now it's got this trip for closing the back and , of course, the part which will hold the stretch for closing. So congratulations. We are done with the first important part, which is cutting the necessary parts of the back. In the next, lectures were going to teach all parts together. 9. Drawing holes: before punching called holes, will need to draw planes to know where exactly we will need to punch. You can use an ink pen, which can be easily erased with the rubber. So put the president on to the letter and draw circles with a pen, make sure that the better and mentions perfectly with the leather part. My No, - it seems that we have done withdrawing the punch points. Now let's do the pungent itself. Do not. 10. Punching holes.: you will need the Hummer and the special punching tool, which has a whole on its nose. The diameter of the hole should be approximately 2 to 3 millimeters so that our lead the laces can go for these holes. The whole shouldn't be too large or too small, preferably a little bit wider than the laces. It is better to put some kind of thick resin under the leather so that you don't damage the two and the table. Let's start with making a hole for the holding strap on front part of the back. You will need to have two parallel lines of holes with the width of approximately five millimeters. You can start with making two holes on each end of the line. Now use the knife to connect these two holes together. That's the ends of the lines will be smooth for where is if he used only the knife. You may have had torn edges. Now let's make holes on the greater off the front part. Now let's punch holes on the main part of the back. Start with the whole switch will fix the strip for closing the back. Then you can move on to the perimeter off the front back now we will need to punch holes on the side, slash both part of the back. Not to make these class too boring. We'll skip showing you how we bunch all holes around the back. So he ago all the punching has been done. And this is how the parcel, like with the holes it took us about 45 minutes to make all holes. 11. Embossing leather bag (you may skip this section): before we start stitching cold parts together, let's make some kind of from both sink on the back part of the back. You need some ambushing tools they can devote at any leather crafting shop or even online We both these ones online in order for the imposing to be done easier, make the leather a little bit wet with the use of a sponge were water polarizer. Then choose the design you want and start stamping with the Hama heat the too strongly because he will not have the second chance to stamp. I suggest that you use the tools and try stamping on a simple piece off leather before you start stamping on your back. Actually, this in Boston is not necessary. It is just an additional feature to make the back look more beautiful. 12. Cutting the ends.: Let's finish with our strips now. One end of the longer strap should have around like end. You can use a large coin off the same diameter and cut the unnecessary piece off leather with a knife. The shorter strap should have straight and from both sides, so cut it according clean. 13. Punching holes on the straps.: Now we will need to draw holes on our two straps so that we can bunge them Later. On this picture, you can see the two straps and where we will need to punch holes. The longest trap should have one and punched with holes so that we will be able to put a metal rincon its end. The round end of the long strip should not be bunched. Instead, you need to make six rolls with about five centimeters decent from each other. They will be used to fix the tongue part of the buckle and to connect two straps together. The shorter strap should have two ends punched with holes one and will have a metal ring to connect it to the site bottom part of the back. The other end will have a buckle to fix with the longer strap. First, let's start with a shorter strap. Take the piece of pattern with holes and copy these holes onto the short strip of deliver. Do the same thing for the second end of the short strap. Now take the longer strap and drove holes only on the one and the one which has the right end. I think Now You should need to do the punching. Please do it on your own based on the design. So all our holes have been bunched. This is how our longest strap looks like after bunching. Now we need to make one more thing to make one rectangular hole for the dunk off our back. Oh, to make the edges of this whole sniffer rule first, make two holes and then connect them with a knife. In this way, the edges will be smoothed and we're not hearing future. Okay, Let us show you how it will look like. Take the back off in shortly. Stone came to these for General Hole and full the edge together. Okay. In the next episode, schools teach the ants of ours traps. 14. Stitching straps with leather laces.: so all the holes on the straps already, let's teach them of the holding straps. Let's start with the shorter's trip. It turned out that our metal rings are a little bit narrower than the width of this trap. So we made some small cuts so that the ring can easily be fixed with this trap. So take a leather lace, cut it to have approximately 30 centimeters and start inserting the late into the holes as we show here. - No , - do not Oh my. We will have a cross and one horizontal line on the front side of this trap. Your ends off the lace should exit from the back part of the strip from above. Now put them under the cross and tighten them strongly. - Do the same stitching of the second part of the shorter strap. And we have one end of the longer strap. And this is how the structured look like they look pretty nice. Don't pay 15. Stitching strap holders: remember, we can't shorter the pieces to call two straps together. Now we will need to teach them so. First of full, you need to know the exact length off these small pieces. So just put them around the two straps and joy line where you need to cut them. No need to have any tolerances. They should be very tight. Now. We need to make two small holes on each end of the piece to teach them. The host would be smaller than the holes in the back. Maybe one or 1.5 millimeters. Now take a one millimetre walks Fred, and start stitching each piece. You can use an old to handle the front. Yeah, this is how it should look like after his teaching. You can burn the ends of the Fred with a light fire if you like. You don't need to have two small pieces on the shorter strap of the back. - Not so again. This is how our scrubs clanking van. We will not need to do anything careless with the straps anymore. 16. Inserting main holder: Now we'll need to insert a small leather piece into the front part of the back. Just put two ends in the vertical hole lines. You don't need to steal or grew it. Yes, it may be a little bit challenging, but take your time. 17. Stitching side holders: Now we will need to fix the holders on two ends of the site. Bottom part of the back. In the middle of the two holdings traps, put a metal ring which will be fastened to the straps of the back. On this piece of paper, you can see the design off, how we want our laces to look like when the end of the site slash bottom part of the back. You see on the second line of holes, there are free holes, but the middle hole should have to raise us. So we will need to make the middle hole and little bit larger. Just will budget once again to make it white. There do not. So everything is fine now and we can put our laces inside the holders. Don't forget to put the metal rings inside the small straps. It may be difficult to insert. The lace is inside the holes so you can sharpen their ends a little bit. - Start inserting the lasers from the lower holes on the front side. Then when you got two ends of the lace on the riverside, put both ends into the wife middle hole like that Now put the ends off the laces to the side holes. - Believe some free space in these notes so that you can insert the lace is easier. And now put the lasers onto the upper holes so that they can come from the front side. I cannot. - Now you need to put the lace into the holes, which were left finally tightened the ends of the laces strongly. But be careful not to tear them apart, although delicious are two new meter think they can be during if you apply too much pressure, This is how the laces look like from the front and from the back. Now let's do the same procedure through the second end of the site. Part of the back proof us forward these a little bit. So this is how our recite bottom part of the back looks like 18. Stitching side/bottom and main part together: now the final part of our course. We need to assemble the main parts of the back, take the side part of the back in the main part, put them in parallel to each other, take the lace and start from the inner side of the side part. Leave approximately 7 to 10 centimeters off the lace on the inner side before inserting delays. You may want to sharpen its end so that it moves easier for the holes when you reach to the corner of the back. There might be some false but just tight in the lace a bit more and use your hands to smoke from them. We will also hammer them one staging keys completed, so don't worry too much about them. It's all right. - Do not so we have come to the last hole. The end of the late should remain from inside the back. We'll handle it in a second, So take the end of the lace and put it inside the previous teach. Before that, you may lose in the previous teacher a little bit, then tighten the end and caught the unnecessary part with the same procedure. With second end of the lease, you can also Hummer these places to make them smooth for 19. Stitching front part: Now let's teach the front part of the rest of the back. It's just sharpen the end of the lace leaves on 5 to 7 centimeters from inside the back and start putting the lace into the holes one by one. - Now that we have completed, we will put the ends of the laces into the previous teachers, and now we can move forward. 20. Stitching the cover strap: it seems that we still need to attach the closing strapped onto the front part of the back . The teachers will look similar to other stages we made earlier. So as you remember, we'll need to make our middle hole a little bit wider because two aces will go through it. So punched the middle whole again, both on the Strip and on the front part of the back. Here's what we have got. Now Insert the strap into the white gap so that the holes match each other. Take a lace. I think 60 centimeters will do. Actually, the lander depends on how long you'd like the latest to be on the front side of the back. But I think 60 centimeters is normal. Don't forget to sharpen the end of the ways so that it moves freely for the holes. Start from inserting the laces into the lower holes on the front part of the back. - Now insert the ends of lays into the white middle hole. You can use an old to ensure that holds. Match each other. Now, insert the ends into the side, holes in the middle role and now insert the lace is in the upper holes so that they go out from the front part of the back And finally insert the laces into this teachers that you made earlier and let them hang in the air. Use an old to tighten up all these teachers, starting from the lowest ones and going up. - You can also Hummer this teachers from both sides so that this area looks smooth. For congratulations, we're almost finished. 21. Showing finished Bag and a Challenge for You!: so the final part is the easiest. Just attach the straps to the back and we're done. There's nothing else we're going to do. This is how our back looks like. If you like, you can apply some varnish ink on the surface of the back, but it is not necessary for those of you who think that these leatherback looks rather simple. Here's a challenge for you. This is a photo off one off our backs. It is more colorful and has ancient Egyptian design on front, and it can also be fixed to your belt. You may want to try to make a similar one if you do share the photos off your creative leatherbacks, and we can make a voting for the best back with some presence. Of course, from me and my dad, I hope you enjoyed the scores and Florence wrote on your way to becoming led across professional. We would appreciate if you could leave your feet back on the course so that we know how to make it even better. I was also wondering what other leather goods you would like to see in our next courses. Please write us would love to hear from year. In the meantime, I wish your positive day and hope to see you in our next courses. Bye for now.
