Project Description

Create a logo for a product, set 30 years into the future.

ASSIGNMENT

Your assignment is to create a logo for a product, set 30 years into the future.

Start by asking yourself: What will the world be like in 2045? If that feels too big, start with a single product: What will a specific object be like in 2045?

Think about the straightforward stuff around you: books, pencils, plants, shoes. What will they be like in 30 years? Why? Spin out your story, imagine your product, and then start designing. Use the attached creative prompts PDF to push your thinking. You may even find yourself conjuring a service or new kind of company.

This should take you between 30 minutes and a few days. I think the difference between a good project and a great one, in this context, is just how entertaining the story is and how well it sets up the work. If the story is great AND the work is beautiful and functional and NEW, then that’s the ideal!

DELIVERABLE

Your goal is to communicate the constraints of your world and the basics of your design. Tell me your reasons! You might share:

  • Logo design — sketches, hand drawings, or digital rendering
  • Story of your world — text, images, or video
  • Logo mock-ups
