I have been photographing since 2007. That's when I decided to move to the UK and explore. Photography has always been my love, however, at the very beginning, I wasn't great. I was trying to learn how to become a professional photographer and develop my own style. After a few years of self-teaching, I've graduated from The New York Institute of Photography course in Professional Photography and Business. My focus is on portrait photography because I think you can tell so much by looking into someone's eyes.

1. Intro: Hi, everyone. My name is Kasha and I'm a professional photographer have been photography in for over 10 years, and I have graduated from the New York Institute Off Photography. In today's lesson, we are going to learn how to pose the model in a studio. I'm also going to talk about how to set up the light on what sort of props to use and techniques to make your pictures more interesting and more dynamic, so don't hesitate and enroll to my class. 2. LESSON 1 LIGHT : I'm going to start from explaining the lights set up abused in the spotter Shoot if this particular occasion amusing the backlight, which is a spotlight I have directed on the model's hair. The beauty dish as a main light, which is facing the model in 45 degrees angle with a soft box on top on the reflector, which is opposite side off the backlight, just two bows, the light back on the model on soft and up the shadows. LESSON 2 Posing model: you are not probably wondering how to pose your model, what I always do. I don't exactly direct them. I don't exactly pose them. I tell them to change poses to a few comfortable. And if there's anything wrong with a posing, I would tell them so we can correct it. You can get really nice effects. If you ask your model to turn back to the camera and then turn around again, it will give the hair some movement and make your picture more dynamic, also with the face expression. If the person is sort off, not expected it. It's a more natural rather than she would just be waiting for you to take a picture than the face goes stiff. A natural person gets a little bit stressed that there waiting for you to take that picture . So, in my opinion, important is not to direct your model. 100%. Many people ask me what they supposed to do, the asking to direct them, but I always tell them Just be yourself. You might think, Oh, she's the photographer. She's not supposed to be stressed in front of the camera, but it takes time to get used to. So I always lead them to be more creative free and do what they think it's best. And I just correct those things. They need to be changed. 4. Lesson 3 Sepecial Effects: I would like to show you a few tricks you can use during the photo shoot in a studio. For example, if you want your model skin to look wet, you're supposed to ask her to put some baby oil or olive oil in sort of oil, which will make the skin greasy first and then spray with water. Otherwise, the jobs off the water will not be visible. They will dry off. They will be absorbed by the skin. So always make sure to put some oil first and applies even to still life photography. If you want your fruits look more juicy. If you wanted the jobs off the water to be visible, puts up on olive or you first. There is another thing you can use to make your pictures look more dynamic, which works really, really well. You can use a fun, but be careful. LESSON 4 The devil is in the detail: now I would like to talk about importance off the backlight. Why would you even want to use the backlight? The backlight will separate your subject from the background the same time, showing this is a free dimensional object. Another thing that you can use to make your pictures more interesting is a child. Ask your mother to sit on a chair. There's plenty possibilities for the model to pose on a chair. As you can see, she can lean backwards. She can lean forward. She can sit on a chair facing the camera. She can sit on a chair in a normal way. There's a plenty possibilities. How you can use the chair in your photo shoot. Just make sure the chair you've used is photogenic enough, and it much is the theme of your photo shoot. You can definitely combine your probes. In this case, I'm using a fun. I'm using a chair and I also asked the model to pose different ways. So I have variety to images to choose from. Another really important thing about posing this. Ask you model two point have feet downwards as if she was wearing hills. It does make a lot of a difference in a way, the legs opposed in a way the Lexx look. It definitely does make a difference. You might be wondering why in this picture she's looking like she's dirty in an engine oil and as if she's just finished work as a mechanical engineer. This is exactly what I wanted to achieve. I have thought about it on why not to make your pictures a little bit different. Sometimes the thing I've used to act as an engine oil waas literally makeup to country your face. You know how you got those sets with a brighter foundation or brighter makeup and dark and make up to come to your face. So I've used the darkest possible one toe, make that effect off the grease on her body and face. In this case, I have also used the baby oil first, and then I painted the grease on her with a contra makeup. The light in this case is also the beautiful ish from above and 45 degrees angle in the back light. However, the backlight this time Scott a soft light on top. I don't know if you can tell the difference, but if you observe carefully with a spotlight, there is like a small part off the hair, really bright with a soft box back. However, if you play the right kind of music, it helps a lot. And you were exactly know what I mean. I've had request from one of the students on skill share to talk about how to pose your model so they don't look stressed in a picture. So I'm going to talk about it now on. There is no simple answer for it. It actually comes down toe whole experience from the start to finish. They should be able to trust you. First of all, how to make the model to trust you. First of all, prepare yourself to the photo shoot. There's nothing worst than the photographer who doesn't know what they are talking about. I understand you might be a beginner, but always tried to appear as a professional in a way meaning that, for example, explain your model What the father should will be about, even if you don't have a specific idea, say that you would like to do some tests, shows you would like to get to know each other. So how she works, how you work. So you've got better ideas for themes in the future. Also, the attitude is really, really important. You've probably heard that before that you receive what you give on. If you are not excited about the photo shoot, if you can't be bothered to be there or if you are stressed, what my happen at the beginning, for example, you are really, really excited. You are agitated on you want to do your best, but you don't know exactly what you're doing because you are beginning, it often appears as a stress, so make yourself more relaxed. You can hear from just the common people. But then you need to assure them that you will tell them what to do. And that might contradict with what I said at the beginning that I don't really tell them what to do. But it's important to mention that. So the way it would work for me, I would tell them, Oh, don't worry. I'm a professional or have been taking pictures for a while or have been working with people like you, and I will direct you. I will tell you what to do. Then you might say, Hold on a minute. Is it not that I wasn't supposed to tell them what to do? Is it not that I supposed to let them to be themselves and let them to be creative and off course it iss? What usually happens to me is I tell them like, don't worry, I will direct you. I'm a professional and I've had this kind of experience before with people like you with people who think they are not photogenic. And believe me, everything worked out well. So they're automatically more relaxed and then you think Oh, yes. So when it comes to the posing, So what am I supposed to do? So am I supposed to direct them or not? So what I do when they go Oh, what am I supposed to do? I don't know what to do. Tell me what to do. I go like, just be yourself. Change opposes. Put your hand to your face or touch your hair. Try to change poses Ordina all the time to be more dynamic if they don't quite get it when they try to Paul's all the time in the same way. I just asked them, like tried to change something so I do direct them. But the way it doesn't feel like they're being directed, if it makes sense, 6. LESSON 5 Summary and a class project: So just to quickly recap what I said about Posen, it really comes down to the whole experience. First of all, prepare yourself to the photo shoot so you appear more professional and more into the photo shoot. If you are sort of a person who is not a people person, make sure you put the music on. And it comes not only to the fact that the pictures were really good. I'm really happy with results, and he's really happy.
