In this Cinematic Micro-Learning Program you experience the art of coaching and learning through bite sized video stories spaced over time. Creating a mindset for change is a process that moves individuals from being unconscious and reactionary to being creative and intentional. This is the shift in mindset that is needed for people to focus on positive outcomes and change. This course will give you the tools you need to maintain a positive mindset and change behavior.

This is the second video course in the eight-part “Creating a Mindset for Change” series. In this second video course, you will learn about creating awareness and understanding. You will come to recognize unconscious focus and how it effects outcomes large and small.

All eight video courses are intended to be taken in sequence with a spaced learning approach. The idea is to take one part of the eight-part video course each week or every other week, allow for a period of time to pass, and then consider the concept again in a different way by taking the next part.

Dynamic change in business is exacerbating the natural tendency to focus on what we fear. This unconscious reaction is literally paralyzing people from being change adaptive. A global CEO survey indicated that 90% of CEOs believe their organizations are not change adaptive to maneuver the road ahead. When it comes to change, most organizations focus on structures, processes, and systems. Few even recognize that without an individual and collective Mindset for Change their best efforts will fail, especially now.

Creating a Mindset for Change includes a Road Map for Leaders, the Cinematic Micro-Learning which is a self-contained process that spaces the learning over time and a Digital Toolkit to chart the process. You start your learning when you access a lesson. Each lesson is a bite-sized lesson that is a video that can be completed in 3 to 8 minutes. After you complete the lesson you are prompted to answer a self-reflection questions to make the content personal to your work and life. Creating a Mindset for Change is designed to first lead you through the methodology and next to provide you with the needed tools for real change. This experience is as close to being personally coached by Laura Goodrich as you can get.

1. Introduction: welcome to creating a mindset for change. A cinematic micro learning Siris in part to fear based thinking. You'll understand how fear based thinking is creating obstacles in work and life and what you can do to create positive outcomes. This is the next step in creating a positive future for you and your team. 2. Fear Based Thinking: Our natural, unconscious tendency is to focus on what we fear or what we're trying to avoid. It's been happening throughout our lives, and it's so hard to change. Why? Because when we aren't thinking intentionally, our thoughts default toe worry and fear. It's an unconscious reaction. It takes conscious, intentional thoughts and actions to focus on what we want and to maintain that focus. It's hard. It takes work in a great awareness, but it's well worth the effort. Start by deciding what you want, both personally and professionally. Then write it down. Think about throughout the day. Make up your mind. You will focus on the outcomes you want in your life. When change occurs where you're confronted with a stressful event, you need toe immediately. Ask yourself what I want and what can I control? Things daily Mantra will serve you well. Focus on what I want. Control what I can say this. When you're confronted with a stressful event, catch yourself before your emotions get the best of you. Thes air The times when the natural tendency to focus on what you don't want typically bubbles up to the surface and consumes you practice using this new thought pattern that focuses on positive outcomes. This mind trigger will better prepare you to recognize that are perceived. Fear in a situation often hinders us from getting what we want. As you'll see in the following video, Laura explains this rationale for fear based thinking. 3. Fear Based Thinking continued: so look at the world that we live in work in. Now let's face it. It is dynamic and disruptive change, and that's not changing any time too soon. I always say to people, You get more of whatever you focus on. This isn't another positive attitude program. It's a program focusing on the unconscious focus of fear and what we're trying to avoid. I believe that you recognize this happening in your organization, and you're ready to do something about it. Focusing on what we don't want has a reach far greater than we realize. It seems to be our natural tendency, and it's been going on a long time. Let's begin where we left off. Remember third grade reading class? Most people I talked to say they remember the same thing Sitting with your group at reading table. Everyone has to read out loud, and pretty soon it's your turn. Chances are we'll your classmates were reading. You weren't even listening. You were mentally counting. How many more students before it's your turn. You know your fear builds, your fingers tremble, and you can't stop thinking how hard it iss. Finally, it's your turn. What father? One agonizing word at a time. You somehow get through the paragraph A and you make it through the day and you make it through third grade, and it doesn't ever really go away. Now you've moved in the classroom to the conference room. They're not your classmates there, your colleagues, your all supposed to give your reports. You're doing it again, wondering which direction they're going to start counting down until it's your turn. Your still focused on not wanting to make a mistake. I'm not wanting to look foolish and your heart pounds. Why does this happen? Why do we spend time and energy dealing with fear and and obstacles? Is that a taking action to move in the right direction? It's human nature, but you can make a detour around that natural and unconscious focus. Make a commitment to focus on the positive outcomes you want and picture success in your mind. Say you have a report to get a team meeting. Visualize the project. The small details. Imagine yourself in front of the group commanding your presentation, answering difficult questions and then redirecting the conversation and satisfying the team . Your project is a success because you've already experienced this positive outcome in your mind. Now you are being creative in the moment rather than reactive 4. Fear Based Thinking Self Reflection: Oh! 5. Why We Fear What We Do : before our mindset can shift. It's important to understand what causes us to focus on what we fear that are trying to avoid. All of these lessons are designed to help you develop an awareness to ensure that early social conditioning and real life experiences do not continue to negatively impact your work in your life. This mind trigger will better prepare you to recognize that social conditioning and real life experiences are rooted in fear based thinking. So where does all this fear come from? Watch and see. 6. Why We Fear What We Do continued: you get more of whatever you focus on. But how do you create a neural network in your brain to move to a positive future? A neuro network that will allow you to be agile, Kreda, innovative and collaborative? Yes, your brain plays a vital role in making all of these things possible. Let's talk about what causes us to focus on what we don't want to have happen because it really doesn't make sense, does it? I mean, think of it like this. What are race car drivers thinking? Clearly they focus on the track. They want to stay on, not the railing. They don't want to hit. What are emergency professionals thinking? They're focusing on the positive outcomes that they want. So what causes us to focus on what we don't want to have happen? I wanted to get to the bottom of that. So I went to the neuroscience community, and I asked Dr Ellen Weber what causes this to happen. She began to explain how of course we're going to run from a saber to Tiger, but I said, Dr Webber, I'm not interested in that. I want to know what causes us to focus on fear in things that are clearly not going to cause real danger, she said. Well, that's where we come in. Well intentioned parents now, Bobby, don't leave your hat on the bus now. Don't put your hand on the stove now. Don't run when you get outside. And don't let Julie mess up your project. It happens to the best of us. We really want to guard our Children from getting hurt, and we begin the process of causing them to focus on what they fear and what they're hoping to avoid. So it begins with social conditioning, and it's been going on for a very long time. Then there's real life experiences, like if you had a horrible boss or if you've had conflict with a patient or client, those air real life experiences that can cause you to unconsciously focus on what you fear 7. Why We Fear What We Do Self Reflection: Oh! 8. Recognizing Your Fears: way. All have fears, and the most important thing we can do is to acknowledge them. Fear is kind of like a virus on a computer. You can't really see it, and you often don't know what's causing it. But it's problematic. It's important to recognize what makes you fearful, so you could take action to move in a more positive direction. After viewing this mind trigger, you'll be better prepared to describe the importance of developing dense neural pathways that can lead to positive thinking and ultimately positive outcomes. So let's learn the different ways the unconscious focus affects the brain. 9. Recognizing Your Fears continued: let me give you a sense of what happens with his unconscious, fear based thinking. When our brain is going to that place of fear, it stirs Thea Magdala, which causes the release of cortisol. Cortisol is a hormone that makes it nearly impossible for us to be creative and resourceful all the things that we desperately need. Now you're So now we've got social conditioning, real life experiences that causes the unconscious focus of fear, and our brain releases cortisone. Here's where the challenge comes into play way. Have a tendency to repeat our thoughts and our actions and our behaviours. In fact, it's estimated that 70% of our thoughts unconsciously are focused on what we fear and it gets worse. They're repetitive. We're actually forging deep neural pathways in our brain. Think of it kind of like a rut. You'll recognize it's a lot easier to stay in a rut than it is to get out of it. Imagine that you're in a small town and you're asked to leave. You have to leave on a roadway. There's really only two major thoroughfares into and out of the community. See, there are not many options. That's really what are neuro network is like now we have a highly repetitive thinking, and it's very difficult to get out of it. Now imagine yourself in a major metropolitan area you're asked to leave by road, you have lots of options. So what we want is essentially an inner city road map. In other words, a dense neural network of pathways in our brain, which will lend a positive outcomes in situations small the large to create a dense neural network, identify a project, then write down all of the elements that constitute that project. Then, right, the outcome that you do want with each element of the project. This is what we call and I want statement a declaration of all the outcomes that you want for the project. Wait for the next week. Your job is to ensure that your thoughts, actions and behaviors are aligned with your I want statements. I want statement helps you create this dense neuro network 10.
