After that, we will create six different miniature paintings to give you all the practical insights of creating miniature art, I will walk you through the whole process of creating each and every miniature painting. So once you are finished, Share your drawings in the project and Resources section and really excited to see all of them. 3. Tools & Materials: Let's get started with some tools and materials you will need to create a miniature painting. Miniature art covers all mediums and styles. And most popular mediums for miniature art are watercolors and pencils. Mostly because their very nature is perfect for small works of art that makes them ideal for creating, a detailed miniature drawing But as I mostly work with oil and oil pastels, I was really curious to use oils for my miniature paintings, and I must say I really loved the result. So in the demonstration part of this class, I will be using oils as well. What I also like about miniature art is that you can create a gorgeous painting that minimum medium and paper. You can use any medium you prefer. be that acrylics, watercolors on the pencils. I will be working with just a few brushes of different sizes. So I'm going to need one bigger synthetic brush of size 2. I will be using it mostly for the background. And I'll also need fine brushes for detailing of size 0 and the 000. As a surface for my paintings, I will be using these small round canvas you can purchase in the art supply store. Gets some pieces of cloth or paper tissues to clean your brushes from the paint and you're good to go. Now once you get all the materials you need, make sure you have a settled and organized space so you can concentrate and enjoy the process of creating miniature art. 4. Ideas & Inspiration: Finding inspiration for miniature painting is an issue that many of us struggle with, especially for beginners. So now that we have all the tools and materials prepared, we are almost good to go and start creating our miniature paintings. But before we start, let’s talk about how to get a good miniature painting idea In this lesson. I want to share with you some ideas for easy yet amazing miniature art. I had in mind something colorful and vibrant, something that would minimize the challenge of creating miniature art. and consist not too many small details. so that even if it's your first time creating miniature art, it will be easier for you to start. So I have prepared a few ideas, six, to be precise. And in the next lesson, I will guide you through the process of creating each and every one of them. So in this course, you'll have a chance to learn how to create miniature paintings of lighthouse by the sea, cityscape with the gorgeous sunset, mountains, fields of flowers, water lilies, and palm beach. As you can see, there are lots of ideas and space for you to start creating. I have also created an inspiration board with the reference photos so you can use them as well. 5. Premixing : In this course, we will create six different miniature paintings. It may be overwhelming at first, creating so many artworks. So in order to minimize the challenge, I suggest you set a palette before painting. I want all of the paintings will create through this course to have the same color palette so that the set of the miniature paintings will look harmonically together. So before you start, identify a few main colors you want to use for your paintings. For example, I'm going to use blue and pink paint as main colors. so when choosing the main colors for your paintings, Keep in mind how they will work and match together. I really like how they work together. And the more they create on the canvas. For mixing colors. Given just one, they'll save you time and effort because there'll be no need to remix those colors during the binding process. It also will be easier for you to maintain consistent colors throughout the entire course. So I have premixed blue and pink paint. I've added burnt sienna and dark green I might use as well. And I have also left some space for additional colors I might add in the process. 6. Miniature Floral Painting: Now that we have identified and premix a few colors, we can start creating our first miniature painting right away. In this lesson, we'll create miniature painting of flowers. I had in mind something easy yet powerful. And when I saw this photo and decided to create something similar to it, the beautiful sunset with the inventor, boom. So let's start by blocking in some background colors. Here you can use a bigger brush to create the ground. So I'm starting by layering some blue paint of the darker value. As you can see, I don't cover all the canvas with this. Um, then some space on touch for my Ping Fang Shi, How much easier and faster working with the pre-mixed paint. You just go from one color to another, saving time and effort. Now I'm switching to pin things. Before you do that, clean up your brush from the remaining paint to use before so that you get more clean and vibrant colors. So now I'm layering something less than it mix with the blue paint a bit. I want the sunsets guy to be even more colorful. So I'm going to add some yellow here as well. In the case like these, I left some space so that I can always add some additional Bain I want to use in my painting. So now I'm layering some yellow here to being on top of it. And this is my sentence guy, I was aiming for. As you can see so far, it's pretty easy and fun process even though we are working on such a small scale. So now that we are happy with this guy we created, let's proceed to the flavour area. Using my bigger brush on layering, burnt sienna or ground paid. These first layer for flower fields will represent some kinds of bushes or trees can ground for our, they'll enter. So I'm making it barely touching the canvas when the brush. So the ground is finished and transmission to the smaller brush of size 0. Because now comes more interesting part of the painting process Edin followers to the painting. I'm going to use black band. Four elements are flowers as will make the sent out. And it will also bring more contrast to the painting. So now I'm loading just a bit of black paint, smaller brush, and I'm creating some small event of flowers. Try not to overload the brush with too much paint because it can get matching. You can always add more strokes of paint if you want to. Mentor is great. Object for miniature art. They don't require too much detail work. They still look really nice on such a small scale. Now, I want to add some random grass to make it more natural and wild ass mission to another smaller brush size triple 0. Once again, just to be friendly, touching the paintings. I didn't put too much pressure. Then I'm doing that so that the stems and graphs will be really fine not to vote. So now you can add more grass here and there for more natural MOOC. To first miniature painting is ready. And you can see just a few fine brushes and right, Mehta, create miniature art is really simple and fun. Next lesson we'll create another miniature painting. These time we'll pay SET scape. I will also show you what to do if you don't have a really fine brush or size. But you want to add, find miniature art. 7. Miniature Cityscape: In the second lesson of this course, we'll create miniature painting of a cityscape. For these bending. I was inspired by this quarter. I realized it could be a great miniature Banting, so I have decided to use it for this course. We will use it more as inspiration then as a reference for auto, which means we will modify it a bit. So once again, let's start by blocking in some background colors and start with this guy. Here, you can use a bigger brush to create the ground. So I'm starting by layering just some paint. This time I want this guy to be Muslim, as I'm aiming for more romantic and magical local this city. This time, I suggest you to layer the whole canvas with the background color. You can modify our sky as you wish. In my experience, this guy is always different and only in nature, but also on the gans. It depends on your mood and atmosphere you want to create for your painting. Once you have finished working on Skype, you can switch to the smaller brush. It's a bit of dark brown or black Bantu and start working on buildings. For buildings, you can use a reference photo or your imagination and create it all and as different buildings as you want. I want my buildings to be different. Well, I buildings to be of different shapes and sizes is more interesting. Once you are happy with the buildings, you can add, you find details with this smaller brush size triple 0. Using the smallest branch, we will add to just a few simple details to make the bending complete. So now I'm painting goes and Venice, you can usually see in the big cities. Do you see how even the smallest details transforms the entire painting? And the last thing I want to add to this painting is Sunlight's of yellow tuna buildings. In case if you don't find brush, but you want to add those fine details such as those antennas and guides. You can use a needle. Let me demonstrate to you how you can do it. Of course, it's not as comfortable in comparison to the brush, but it has its pros as well. You can load the strokes you create building more texture and colorful. So our second miniature painting is finished. 8. Miniature Lighthouse: Now come to the third lesson of this course. In this lesson, we will learn how to create more complicated and challenging miniature painting of a light house by the sea. Integrate with the two previous classes. And I believe you are renting over there to start, right? Yes. We're going to start with this guy. As you can see, practice makes everything so much easier. The more vain miniature paintings you'll create, the more confident you will feel working on small-scale. As you can see, practice makes everything so much easier. And more miniature paintings you will create, the more confident you will feel working on such small-scale. This guy for this painting will be mostly Bugens yellow because I want these painting to be full of colours and energy. So once again, I'm using my bigger brush size two to layer things on my Skype. Now, I'm going to add a bit of hello to the sky to create that sunset by that, always looks so amazing. Yellow and pink next perfectly together. And you can always add more drama you by using darker and lighter values of the color. Now let's add some blue here to the ocean. It below grade. If you will add some pink and yellow reflections to the water. We want our sky to work when the ocean as one. Now let's add some clips and lend to the painting. After we, after all, we need a place to put our lighthouse somewhere. But don't worry, we will be there pretty soon. Let's use burnt sienna and browned pane. You can switch to the final branch. Now, created a miniature painting of a lighthouse is a great practice as it's simply beautiful. And what's also really helps here is that there are tons of amazing photos of houses. You can find that for inspiration and reference. I just couldn't resist to add a light house painting tutorial to this course. So inspiring the pictures are reference to be easier for you to create a lighthouse painting with all of these details and colors. So once you have added a land, you can finally procedural lighthouse itself. Here's my fine brush size. I'm starting on layering paint to establish the shapes over the lighthouse. Notice that there are actually two buildings for us to paint. Don't forget to clean up your brush so that the colors you apply will be nice and clean. Once you have established the shapes for lighthouse, you against which to even find them brush size triples Euro. And now you can add more details like roof, windows and all of the details and Lighthouse. I'm using red cadmium for those details. But you can also use Brown or any colour you perform. Okay. Why the miniature painting on a lighthouse has finished? As you can see, it turn out to be much more simple. Miniature painting of a house is finished. As you can see, it turned out to be much more simple as it seems. 9. Miniature Palm Trees: Now let's create another miniature painting. In this lesson, I invite you to create a venting of phone trees. This is another great idea for miniature art for so many reasons. It's easy to create, so it will be perfect for beginners. There are lots of photos to draw inspiration from. It. Simply looks beautiful. So let's create it together in this class. First, let's create a background for our boundaries, which is nice sunsets guy and the ocean. I want this guy to be more dramatic and colorful. So I'm gonna make something with glue for satyrs. This will help us to create that played evenings died just a few moments before the darkness. Then let's layer something here as well. Going to use various values of being to make this guy more complex and to add more depth to the sky. This guy you have created, we can finish the background for our boundaries by adding here some land and ocean color here. And I want to make it special and magical. Pink and yellow as well. Reflection on really vibrant and colorful sounds. Since guy, using my brush size, I just want to add a horizon line to be some faraway islands. So the background for our painting is finished. We can proceed to the final stage of this painting. But I'm going to start by using my brush size to 0. And the first thing I want to do is to add to the tree trunk. For my boundaries, I will be using mostly dark brown and black paint as I want to get more contrast. And Doug bombs for look amazing with such a colorful the ground we've created. I will start by creating the biggest boundary. Then I will move forward to the smaller one to make it more complex and interesting. To try to make your palm trees of different sizes in different directions. So don't try to make it perfect. Incense making it, as in real life. Is the finance brush size triple 0 to create nice and fluffy palm trees. Oh, okay. Okay. As you can see, grades and miniature Banting on the bomb twins is really seen as a result is selling. So it's a perfect idea, especially for beginners. 10. Miniature Waterlilies: In this class, I invite you to join me as I create another miniature painting. This time, let's paint what alleles water lilies are great objects to create as miniature painting, mood, the beautiful and really easy to create. And that have too much details. So it will be a great idea for beginners to create. And people love it for paintings or fortunately this, there is something magical and calm about them. So I believe you will love in this painting today. What I also like about painting the water lilies is that there's so much space to be creative. You are free to choose the colors and shapes, and it still will look amazing. So let's start by layering some green and blue paint to represent the water and reflections on the water. I'm leaving some space for my future water lilies and leaves. I want to make the water lilies and expanding more free and expressing. Some gonna use more vivid colors like Bugens, yellow. So now that I have blocked in the color for my water, let's proceed to the water lilies and leaves. As I have already mentioned this lesson, you'll be really simple and fast because greater than inventing, unfortunately, this doesn't require too much details. So now I'm going to add colors to beliefs. Here you can switch to a final brush of size 0. To create more complex and interesting MOOC, I'm going to layer some greenish yellow on top of it. By using different color values, you can add more shadows to the leaves. Us darker values of green to add more depth to the painting and greed various unique leaves. And the result, you can finally, you can use any color you want for yellow or you can even combine them altogether. I'm going to use mostly for my bending. So now I will create just a few really small. What's the big one? I will add more jab right on top of it. And now it looks really good. So now I will switch to my finance brush size to add few shadows to the painting. To do so, I will be using dark brown paint and I will just add shadows here and there to create more depth, to separate some news from each other. And simply to make it look even better. Okay. See how easy it is to create a miniature by integral fortunately list and it turned out to be. 11. Miniature Mountain: Welcome to the last lesson of this course. We have already created for different miniature paintings. And by this time, you already know ideas for miniature paintings. You can use there to start and how and when to add small details to them. In this last lesson, I want to share with you another great idea for miniature painting that I really wanted to add to this course. So in this lesson, we will create a miniature painting on the mountain. Is will be the easiest painting in this course. So you can relax and have fun while creating. So once again, let's start by creating some Skype for this painting. As I want to make my mountain mostly grey. I will compensate it by making the sky colorful and pink. And so I would layer a few values of being given a space for the monitoring. This painting is really simple conversation. So now I will make some grey band on blocking in the color for the mountain. Using my brush of size two, I will establish a simple shape for the mountain. I will add more value to n mode shape to it. And once you like the result, you can add some forests in front of the mountain to make things more interesting. Well, the forests are switching to my funding brush. Mixin, some dark green for it. Okay. You can add even more depth to the mountain by layering more darker gray. And you can also add some white paint to the mountain that will represent this null. So here you can be as creative as you want and use your imagination. I want to add tiny small River to the forests to make this bending more eye-catching and interesting. So I'm switching to my finest brush size tuples. Using light blue or white color, you can create simple and nice River to the forest. These last paintings of our course is finished. I hope you really like the result. As you can see, like I promised, these easiest painting of wall in this course. And through the salt is really beautiful. So even with the efforts, you can create two really great painting that will really amaze you. 12. Final Thoughts: You have now learned how to create simple miniature art.
