About This Class

A peer review system will allow student submit a project and have the project reviewed by other students.  This is fantastic for courses or classes that are project based and have a large number of students.

Over the course of 3 classes we will build a peer review system that will automatically email student project to review and automatically calculate a score and email the project submitter their results of the review.  Once set up the entire process is automatic.

All that is required is a Google account so if you have Gmail, or a Google+ account then you can do this at no cost!

In the first class you learned how to set up a Google form to allow student submit a project for review.  We then looked at the formula required in the collection sheet that will allocate reviewers to projects.

In this class Create a Peer Review System for your Class or Course - 2 we will look at the Google apps required to auto email students the projects they must review and also setting up the second form for reviewers to submit their review

In the final class Create a Peer Review System for your Class or Course - 3 you will learn how to set up the rubric, the formula required to grade the project after the review has been submitted and how to automatically email the learner their review

By the end of the series of classes you will have a fully functional peer review system

1. Introduction: welcome to create a peer review system for your class or courses or projects to. This is the second class in the course. In the first class, we set up the Google form to collect the project. Submissions on We set up the Google sheaf a swell on the collections. So in this class we're going to look at the Google Apps that I require toe auto email, the students the projects that they most review on. We'll also set up the second form for the reviewers toe actually submit their review. 2. Setting up the Apps: we're gonna look now at the add ons that make this sheet actually work. Now, why would we need a copy down at on when somebody submits a form, what you want to happen is you want all of the's codes Are all of the's formulas here that you have entered into this sheet to copy down before any mount is actually sent. You can then check the formulas. If you updated, you compress rediscover formulas and then you save settings. So basically what happens is as soon as the form is submitted, these formulas automatically copy down before it moves on to step off sending the email. The second thing that you need to do in terms of Adams is turn on your auto responding email. You need this to be a czar. Automatic is possible because if you have a lot of students in your course and you're using a peer review system, you don't want to. The reason we were using the peer review system, Mr Cale, from other students in grating people's working in reviewing people's work. If you have to do all this manually, sure, you might as well be grading them yourself. So we want to send an also replying email. When somebody sends us their project, we want to send them details off the project that they have to review on. We need to remember that you can't give certain information. I like you can to give the other projects email address or their user names, so you have to keep certain things confidential. So let's set up Adam, so we're going to use for mule on. If you haven't got form, you'll you need to get form you'll so we will open our form you'll on. We want to send it on submission on them. We will select our template. And then here we consider criteria. And we've looked at four mule in some of our other tutorials in this course. So I'm not going to go true it in great detail. But we have only one template, so there's only one particular email on. We're going to send it for all rows. So we're going to save, and then we're going to add at the particular template. So whichever one of these is the email address, you need to put in a reply to sample peer review submission. Please review these projects. Hi. And then I have please enter your name to pull in the person's name. Thank you for taking part in our sample Peer review. Your project has been submitted for review. You have to projects now to review. Please use the rubric on the website so you would have the room bicker. You'd have whatever details you need to put in. And you can put in whatever you want in the body. I have also then put in. Please note the project code that you are reviewing, as you will need this when you are completing the review form and I then pull in the cells from over here. So please review the following and I pull in the cold. I pull in the name of the project. I'm a link. The project. I don't pull in personal information for who's made it the project on I do for the 2nd 1 and these are all down here. I then have a link to my review form which you will be able to get at the later stage. Send the particular emails pulling in the correct references when the email is sent. It will then put some details in here to say that the email is sent that this is also responding. We're going to look at the second form, and this is the form where somebody needs to review the actual project that's been submitted. 3. Setting up the form to collect reviews: So we create a new form from our Google drive the same way that we created the previous form. We go to Google forms and set up in your form and I already have a form set up and I'll talk you through it. So the first thing that you do is you give the former title. So we're calling this peer review review submission form. I think given the form of description, please use this form to submit your evaluation off the projects you are reviewing. Please submit a separate form for each project. We then need to collect some information on the first information that I'm going to ask them for is the code for the project that they're reviewing Now, If you remember on our first split, she the forms are completed. They submitted their project and then we use the role function to pull in a project number on. Then we allocated the project number in the email for the projects to be reviewed. So what you do now is you're actually collecting that project number in this question. Here on, we have it as a a text type. Andi. I also have some advanced settings here, So I have some data validation on I have number is greater than two because I started on with row two. Now you could start with growth housing so you would have equals row number on whatever would make up to start were with thousands. And you can put in some custom error text if you want to. After that, I've then also asked them to submit a link to the project. Ferial reviewing If for some reason the person that receives the review isn't happy with the review, they might want you to re review it. And you just need to be able to check back that the person is reviewing the correct projects. So you need to make sure if there's any sort of problem that these two time in, we will then ask your questions.
