About This Class

In this class you'll learn how to make a one of a kind pet portrait using techniques from needle felt and embroidery.

We’ll start by creating a base layer of different colored felts then add dimension and detail in embroidery. Next, you’ll learn how to create 3D felt flowers as embellishments and finish off by embroidering your pets name. This class is designed with the beginner in mind so don’t worry if you know nothing about fiber arts, we’ll take this project step-by-step!

Required materials include:

An embroidery hoop (I use an 8”), embroidery floss, embroidery needle, felt squares for the base material (green) and flowers (white and yellow), wool roving in the colors of your pet, felting needle, sharp scissors, and hot glue gun or craft glue to finish the hoop edges.

I've attached a list of resources for your convenience if you can't find these supplies at your local big craft store!

I own and run two businesses as a solo-preneur. Creative Naturalist is where I write articles and illustrate various topics on nature. I also design fabrics using my nature illustrations through Spoonflow...
