About This Class

In this class, we are going to learn how to create a map of your hometown using Adobe Illustrator.  This class does assume that you have some very basic knowledge of Illustrator, such as how to open a new document and select objects.  Feel free to use my list of commonly used key commands that I have provided in the project section for some help.  Here's an overview of how this class will work:

  1. We'll learn how and where to gather source photos for your sketches
  2. I'll show you how to create a base map the easy way using Google Maps as a guide, and you'll learn how to use a few tools in Illustrator along the way
  3. I'll show you a few of my favorite sketching techniques and how to digitize and color your artwork using a custom color palette that you will create
  4. Finally we will combine everything to create a truly unique and meaningful map of your hometown
