Hi everyone, 


Welcome to my Skillshare class. On this Class, I will be sharing my process of designing a 3d Isometric Poster using Adobe Illustrator, Cinema 4d Lite and Photoshop.

I will take you through designing the initial typography on Illustrator and then export it and import it into cinema 4d. In cinema 4d we will extrude the font's we designed in Illustrator and texture and light them. After we are going to finish the last touches in photoshop.

The class can be taken by any skill level as I take you throw every step of the process and tools

1. Intro: Hello everyone and welcome to my new skill share class. My name is Marcus and of emotion designer based in London on this class, LB. Thank You. Trauma process of designing these treaties. Isometric poster will be using Adobe Illustrator Cinema 4D light, and Adobe Photoshop. This class is for any skill level, as I will be taking you step-by-step in every tool. The class project will be creating a poster using this technique and share with you in the project section on the class and in your social media channels. I can't wait to see your designers. I see you in class. 2. Lesson 01 Starting the Design in Illustrator: We need to do is to prepare a little straighter document. For this exercise. You can use any resolution in Illustrator because we're going to later to be importing splines we create here into Cinema 4D. So it doesn't really matter much now. So I'm gonna use this recent I use A4 and breast creates. So that singleness postulates. I used a word that I found on the internet. You can use any other words you want to. For example, can you use your name or your hometown? Or if you are not really inspired? I made a list of Fourier transforms and I posted them on the project description. Just choose a routinized forward and use it for this exercise. So after you decide which one are you going to use, we're going to click on the Type tool. I'm going to use this water for the internet and are really think is really beautiful. And we'll design really well. Epoch. After deciding which word you want to use, the next thing you need to find these arenas phone to go with it. I'm really obsessed with this font right now are found on the internet. Then m is Penn grandma gonna use it for this exercise. So it's looking really nice already. So the next thing we need to do is to select our font and expanded to splines. If you press shift and ours up-and-down 20K increments in ten. So this is very cool. Selected again, object and expand it again. Fill and stroke. Perfect. Nice. So the next one I'm going to do, it's a circle. So you're going to Ellipse tool on the toolbar. Pressing Alton shifts are going draw circle. I will switch the stroke. And I will use the same struggles on the rectangle before. Thirdly, I'm going to delete this con, is points here. Maybe I was just like this one here. And I will to objects and expert. Philanthropic. Perfect. So this is mostly what we need to do in Illustrator. I also like here to explore a little bit how I long to the distribution of the letters already. So you need to more or less imagine how it is going to be in 3D. So play around a little bit here already. So when we import it, they are really a little bit modified. And when you import them on Cinema 4D, the ARAF, some kind of layout previously out so you can start from there. You can explore the positions. Maybe edit a little bit more the phone pushing down some elements using is pushing, push a little bit more of this h as well. So feel free to edit the font as much as you want as well. Maybe this, maybe will it be like that? And these elements, you can just distribute them around the layout as well, just like this. So this is 18 illustrated. Now we need to do is save this file. For that, we need to go to File, Save, Save As and select the folder where we want to isometric poster. Cool, I will name this spline. So here, there is a very important step. We need to save this as illustrated eight. If you don't set this as illustrated when we display to after D2 Cinema 4D, you actually want to work. I know I don't know the specific reason why, but every time you need to import something to cinema 14 from illustrated and you want to use a spline. You need to save a nice formats. You're gonna give alarm here, but you press OK. 3. Lesson 02 Bringing our Design into Cinema 4d: Now we're going to start in cinema 4D. First, we're going to set up our document for our pulsar. I'm gonna click here on this project settings. And I'm going to use the resolution of 2480 by Thirty-five zero. This is the pixels revolution for a, for bolster. The next thing we need to do is to import our splines that we made in Illustrator to senior for the, for that we go into File Merge objects and we find our splines at I name mine epoch splines, and click open. Here you're gonna see a window showing you the scale of the spines you want. You can use any size you want. I will lose 100. Splines, press OK. And your spline should appear somewhere in the screen. If not, you can press the key on your keyboard and you directly focused on there. So I will just push it a little bit up on the screen to zoom in a little bit. Perfect. And I'm going to rotate this horizontally using the rotation tool right here. Pressing Shift, I will rotate using this axis here. So we have rotates by five degrees each time until I find the 90 degrees like this. Perfect. Now, the next thing I will do is using this class. As you see, they are reported as Pr F1, F2, F3, F4. And unlike to keep my project as clean, as easy as possible. So I'm going to just rename these to the specific letters. So this will be e, b, and I will never be pseudo elements, element one and element two. Perfect. And so now what we're going to do is extra 3D shapes out of disciplines. For that, we go to our toolbar here and choose this one and find extra. So I will press Command or Control, and you select X tilde here and you drag it down, it duplicated. So i will live always want here where I can just duplicate. So I don't need to go to this two where L time using this first extrude, I want to drop it down here on the spline group, are going to select this plane E and put it inside. As you can see, it's already created a 3D shape using that's what I'm going to zoom out. And I'm going to keep doing the same thing for the other letters and elements. Select extrude here, pressing command, push a little bit down, duplicating, and then dragging it to the letter. And putting the letter discipline either honored x, true. As you can see where, where they have are splines intruded. So the next thing we need to do to adjust this extra, selecting the extrude here, you click OK, and you'll see this offset here. And here you can adjust the height of the 3D. So you make our lattice a little bit more depth. Now I will use 604, the letter E. For the letter P, I will use maybe 500 to make some variations in our design. And for the O release for C. Let's try. And I will use 304 these elements, 400 by 400. Perfect. Now the next thing we're going to need to do is set up our camera. So on this project, I used the isometric Kraemer, which gives a really nice perspective. So for that we go to camera. Here. We select the camera, will press this little here. So you actually using our camera and our own projection here, we're going to select isometric. Don't worry, if you went out of your screen, you can just go here. And I tried to adjust and find where these are objects. Just like this. If your object like mine is in the wrong direction, you just slept here. Inflect the aluminum group and selecting xi if you rotate it until it's in the right direction. Well, it's looking nice now. So one thing you can also do here, if you see the elements are not working out so well. You can just adjust your design splines. And using the Move tool, we can just adjust a little bit more our layouts. So h, just little bit more here. Element one. To create a pedal composition. And even the IO push a little bit further, like P, o. And maybe I will zoom in, zoom out a little bit my camera. Nice. This is the treaty models ready? So now the next thing we need to do is create our materials. 4. Lesson 03 C4D Materials, Lighting, Render & Export: This is our 3D models ready. So the next thing we need to do is create our materials and our lights. To apply our materials, we need to convert our extroverts to editable shapes. For that, we're going to slide our extra here using command. I can select them all, 1234567. And we go to Mesh version and make editable. So we're going to see here all the extra desired cone, and now everything is a mesh. Let's just keep it clean. First, you can do is select this text here. You don't need them for now. Let's start creating art materials. For that. We go down here and the material step, and we click on create. New default material. We're going to use two materials. So let's create another one. New default material. If you click twice offer material, you'll want to see the material L editor will appear in front of you. And here you can select which color you want to use in your letters. So I'm going to use the realized. I will just try to find using the color bars here. Yes. And I'm gonna use a white material for the tops of the letters. So now we have our materials ready. You can select r objects and drag the materials over them. Like this was really quick, right? So because we are going to add another color in a top of the letters, we're going to use the other two. We can select our first letter here and use this editable 2d here. Zoom in into the main latter, which we want to change. Set the face, we want to wet the color and track all material like this. Perfect. Let's do the same for the next letter. Select using this tool, select the phase Jackson material. Perfect team for the next one. Select the phase Jacqueline material and keep doing it for the other elements in letters. Perfect or materials are done. So now the next thing we need to do is add some lines to our projects. For that we go appear slit glide. As you can see already, criticism willingness shadows can just move this until we actually are really happy with the result. We should try to find a really nice position for it. You can actually switched for view. So you can adjust better where the light is. Just try to find a really nice composition and shadow. Just like this. That works for your projects. Go back for a one view centered. Let's make a quick render. You can use this interactive runner region, which is really cool. You actually Irenaeus automatically on your screen all the time. And you can move your light to see always affecting in the letters. Maybe you don't again to four views and just keep playing with the lights here. Until I'm happy with the result. I think the Light is, is working really well here. I really like the shadow is making and the depth is creating the objects. So if you're happy, all your lights are working and your materials. Next we need to do is just say for projects. For that we go to File, Save Project as learning. And press. On the next lesson we're going to after-effects wearing. Want to port the cinema for the file and export a frame to Photoshop from there. 5. Lesson 04 Photoshop Post Production & Final Export: We are all used the after-effects to import our cinema for the project and export our Renner from here. Unfortunately, using senior for the light, you can export ranges from there. So the only way you can do it just important in After Effects. So for that, let's click, click twice on the project window. Here. Get our project open and waited for it to render. Ok, perfect. So here on the renderer in the scene where you can just select currents and to swayed. And we also have the white transparent background. Perfect, that's what we need. So the next thing we need to do is export a frame from here. So for that we're going to composition, say framers file. Here on file. You're going to select PNG Sequence. Press okay, and remember to select b, the output RGB and alpha. So we brings the transparent background and press OK, select where you are to save it. Walk, press OK, perfect. Click Render. And the next step is in Photoshop. So in Photoshop, we're going to import our winner from after-effects. For that, we go to File Open and find here and click Open. Perfect. So now is where the magic begins. The first thing I want to do is create a background layer. For Next we go here, select Solid Color and try to find a really nice correlate wound workout as a background. Track it down, click twice again to certain other color until you find something that works really well. Maybe kind of orange. Orange. Now click on the uses blow here, press okay. And we're going to also scale lipid. Don't pressing the layer here and comment. And scale it a little bit down. For the pollster tried to align to the centre using the smart guides for us. Okay, perfect. So the next thing we will do this is that some patterns, textures on our letters. So for that, we press command and over the layer. So it selects the layer. And we go down here and Photoshop and click pattern. Let's find the towards one, like here. Perfect. And press OK. So I'm going to use a multiply like this. So we can see some really nice textures. Because I don't want this to go over the top. I'm going to make a selection until it is patterns from the mask. So we are going back to our layer using the magic one here. We're going to make a selection of every top of the letters. Things shift. I want to select all of them. This perfect. Now, going back to our pattern field layer on the mask and we've gone to press out and backspace. So we actually deletes the mask using our selection. The next thing I'd like to do next is headed layer of green sweater, even more texture to our layout. The next thing I'd like to do, it's who had layer of noise. For that. I'm going to create a new layer. And using the paint bucket two, I'm going to fill it with the color black 00. Perfect. After we go to filter noise and add marks, Let's have as much as we feel like it's going to give our texture. The next thing I'd like to do is add a layer of noise for data, create a new layer using a pink bucket to fill it in black. Perfect. And then I go to filter noise. And here I will select a percentage of lines, maybe 20%. Perfect. And using the planning tools, I will go here and I will find Screen. Great. I really like the textual denoise gives us. So, so the next thing I like to do is add a little bit of more detail, these ingredients and little bit of pressures around the letters. The next thing I'd like to do is add a little bit more of detail. For that. We can select our layer here. Iniquity gradient. Gradient. Just like this, maybe you can rest rotated a little bit. Term is perfect. And again, using a penny modes and let's use a dissolve one. So he has only with a little bit more grain, even. Just like this. Here is a little bit too much. You can adjust the opacity so it doesn't really bother you. Perfect. And the last thing we need to do now is add a layer of levels. So we go to the adjustment layers here. Levels. Unmake her just a little bit of color correction in our values here until we are happy with the results. And this is how I made that closer. So the next thing I wanna do now is write a little bit of text here. I will change the typeface color to the same color as this one to another text. The meaning just fits nicely out. Just like this. Just this little bit to see what it looks like. Maybe up here. I'm going to put a little more detail. Just like this. Maybe we'll make it quite as well. And so I will duplicate this one.
