About This Class

On this class you will learn some simple techniques to create a Displacement 3D Text Artwork using Photoshop and Cinema4D.

You will create a TEXT on Photoshop and export it on cinema4D to turn into a 3D object .Then you will work with the material , lights and camera to get the final Text object.

After that, you will come back on photoshop and experiment with colors and background.

During the following of the class you can experiment with different options or levels as the process is more experimental and it gives you the freedom to explore and get different results.

So I would really love to see what you create after you learn these techniques. I will review every project and upload them on my instagram page.

1. Intro: My name is Clarence on this glass. You are going to learn how to create this exact buster. You are going to learn how to export the text from Father Shop to cinema four D on turn it into a three D object and work more with it until you create your artwork. I hope this video inspire you to create something unique on learn more about cinema four D and follow up so unrolled to see the whole class. 2. Finding Textures and Explaining the Process: Hey, guys, welcome back. So on this part, I'm going to teach you more about the process and the textures you are going to need to create the artwork. I have an example here on my instagram page. So this one is Ah, is an example off what we're going to do. So the process ah, is about the some steps. First we're going toe open for the shop toe. Create the text. You need to think about something. Ah, like a quote or something with Turow's or three rows with, ah, the same number off letters like this one on each row you have three letters. Anyway, you can just or read some letters without any meaning. Ah, it's ah, it's your choice. Then you're going to export the path off the text were going toe create on father shop. You need to export it on cinema. For the one we are going toe work with the texture on DA make a three D text shape and then come back to a photo shop. Toe had more elements to work with colors and stuff like that. So one important, really important thing off this glass or this tutorial is about the texture. You need to find a good texture to get. Ah, a nice result. So let's goto Google images you need to search. Ah, I have already searched nebula and you're going to get ah, these results here on Google images on advice I would give to is ah, toe, get an image with ah, really good highlights. Like a con like good contrast like this one. This is a good, really good example or this one like here, But ah, this one is is better. I think I'm going to work with this one Crab nebula. So just save this image and we're going to use it on the on another part of the tutorial and we go on cinema four D. So this is for this parts you on the next video 3. CreatingText and Exporting: Hey, guys. So now we are on photo shop. We're going to create a new document. Let's said the size Ah, 2000 pixels to thousands said the resolution 300 color mode RGB and click OK, you can set your own size. I was just thinking, this is good size because I was thinking about the text. I'm going to create a text with two rows. As I said the we need Ah, 1/4 text. Ah, on both rose with the same number off letters don't going to create this tax new way. I'm changing the the fund toe lemon milk. I like this fund. Now select this and go toe some text settings. I'm changing the size. And now Ah, I'm making them closer. I think this looks OK. Yeah, let's move it to the center and see Now we're going to create a path from this text so we can export it on cinema four D and turn it into a three D text. So to do that, just goto Beth. And now Ah, no, Sorry. First you need to select it. So just goto the layer on da right. Click on this T right here. and go toe select pixels. Now go toe paths on. Go right right here and click on it. Now we have created a path. So if you want select this you can see the path right here and now we're going to export this path. So go to file Export path to illustrator Click OK and save it. Click, Save and ah, that's it. Now we're going toe move on cinema for the soc on the next video. 4. Creating 3D Text Displacement: Hey guys, Welcome back. So now we are on cinema for D on da. Let's open the path we created on photo shop. Click file Open Onda, open the file you created. Okay, so here is the path we created on photo shop. Ah, Now what we need to do is turn this path in tow. Ah, three d object. So if you click this plus bottom right here, you can see there are six paths which represent the letters which are six. So to turn them into a three D object, you just need to go to this. Ah, subdivisions surface right here. Hold quick and ah goto extrude Click on it. Um, as you can see let's let's move, Move these extrude layer right here and get this path Ah, below the extrude And as you can see it turning two or three d object. So what we can do is ah great Ah, five other extrude the layers Let's say because there are five letters left, so is the same process. So let's ah, let's plays them like that and ah yeah, let's do the same process again. So this way, this way We created ah three d object with the text. What we can do is ah, change the the height, the depth Ah, on this movement right here. Let's set it like 30. I would see let's do the same thing for the other letters. So you're now Ah, the most important thing is ah to create the material to get the the effect. Well, we would like. So go on this area right here. Double click and click on the material Editors Goto color. Make sure it is checked on goto texture, load, image and ah goto the image you downloaded. Ah, on the texture that I explained in the previous video, I chose this one click open on DA Now let's go to reflect intense Make sure to delete this default speculator perfect ins Goto ad Beckman And now we're going to use an effect goto texture effects and go to spectral. Now let's lower the reflection strength. So we we get to see the image more the texture. Let's set it 45. It's OK, I think on da now the most important effect Goto, displacement and ah, we need to load the image, the texture that nebula so texture, load, image again. Go to the image. You you download it open. Ah, make sure to check this sub polygon displacement. And now you can ah, play with the strength and the heart. But let's see, maybe 60. The strength and the height. Ah, I don't know. 53. Maybe we can see the result in experiment more if we we don't like the result would get So let's move this material on this layer right here. Then let's get a preview. Click on this right here. Render a preview. You don't really don't look really good because we need to add some more effects first, to get a beautiful effect from from the reflectiveness, we need to add light we can use Ah, a physical sky. Go to this area right here. Hold quick and go toe physical sky to get some light on the area. And another thing we can do to add more light So we get the better effect from from the reflective It's goto light area light and ah, here it is this square that represent on area light Move it. You have this. Ah, this tool right here So you can move the this square which represent the light you can go to scale and make it bigger. Onda, Here you have some ah options. Make sure to check this ambient illumination because, as you can see, it creates more light on Da Let's get the shadow off blue to get like a blue light and ah, let's see a preview first. Yeah, I don't It doesn't look really bad, but I think we need to change the intensity right here. Make it like 500. As you can see, the result is ah, it is Ah, a lot off light. Andi, I think we can get a better reflect INTs. But ah, we need to have a camera too. So go to camera and ah, set on this wife blasts right here on DA. We need to get ah like a fish eye effect. Ah, toe together the effect we we want And to do that we goto this focal length. Ah, from 36. Let's change it toe like nine. Click enter And now a zoom in on this bottle right here. Let's get ah view. Let's see what we have done. What we have created. Let's render view. So as you can see I think it looks much better. Ah, the texture that we have created this like look like ah, like highs. Also, the colors look Looks great. I think Anyway, we can change them on Photoshopped to Ah, no. Oh, I think we need to change the red and, um, render settings, but we need to export it. This as a PNG. So we don't need this. Ah, background the sky background. So to get rid of it, goto physical sky tax cinema four D tags and goto composing now just some checks is seem by camera and the it is okay, I think. Now let's go to render settings Let's change the width and height 2000 Let's make it on the same size as, Ah, we did the the photo shop document Change the former to PNG and make sure to check the Alfa Channel. So you get rid of the black background, you get a PNG image and ah said the in the folder where you would like to save the image said a name for it and the Yeah, let's get a final view of how it looks before the final render. Yeah, I think it looks great. Ah, and away after we rendered this Ah, we're going to create some three D shapes like cubes and stuff like that, so we can add them on father shop. But for the moment, let's just, ah, render this this object. 5. Creating 3D objects: Hey, guys, Welcome back. So now Ah, again on cinema four D, we're going to create some three D objects. Ah, just ah, in need toe What? Some small elements on full shop when we create the final artwork. So just go to this cube right here on DA click on this cube. Make it smaller. Yeah, Just just click on this scale right here. Now again. Ah, click on this pyramid gun on this scale tool right here. Make it smaller. Move it on DA rotate. Let's just place them in random random places create this platonic three d shape again. Make it smaller and Ah, yeah. Now, let's just copy this based and, ah, real Tate. Let's move them further So they get smaller. You're just creating some randomness. That's ah, group them in group object and, ah, just create a material. I think we just go with color ingredient. Click on that and ah, let's choose to colors something similar to the does a three d object. We created the displacement object. Yeah, Let's apply it. Let's see how it looks like. Let's see how it looks with the reflect intense. Let's see if it looks better I think it's the same anyway this I think it's OK because they were They would be small, so just surrender them again. Goto I'm not changing the size or something. Let's just go to save PNG off a channel and just ah, had a name save and just Ah, just surrender. Yes. So that's it. Ah, Now we will go on for the shop and ah, move on on creating the final elements and the final artwork, So see on the next video. 6. Finalizing the Artwork on Photoshop: Hey, guys, Welcome back. So now I want for shop and Ah, I just opened the file we created on cinema for dear Ah, Let's, uh, make a copy of it. Hold old key and Ah, drag it up, Onda Unchecked is below earlier Control Command t ah, and hold shift to keep the proportions right. And let's make it bigger and try to position it in the center. Ah, now we have to add a background. Ah, I think I can add like a staring night background with, ah, small dots. Like like stars. I have a background like that. Ah, you can get a background like that. Just ah type stary night background or something like that are stars background on Google images and you can get something like that. So let's paste it. Command control T hold shift to keep the proportions again on Let's make it bigger. Enter now. Ah, I need to add more contrast Toe, Get rid of this blue right here. So go to image adjustments level. Andi, let's changes changes. Um, yeah, it's OK. Ah, Now what I can do is I think this ah three d object needs more colors. So I'm going to play a little bit with adjustments, especially with consideration. Let's set the saturation higher, but not like mess like that. I think it's it's better like that. The call came maybe Oh, sorry, Maybe work with this cures right here. See what it does on photo shop. It's more like experimental, working with colors, finding finding a balance between all colors. So it's not like, Ah, a fixed thing and exacting. So let's just play with this effects that for the shop can do and see how it goes. Let's see the preview how it was. I think it's better like that anyway. Ah, besides that, let's create a new layer and position it below the male earlier, which is, Let's let's give a name to it your way on the other layer. Let's call it shapes because I'm going to add some shapes on it with this, uh, less O toole. I think it's called anyway. Let's go to radiant on DA set some colors because we're going to add some shapes with radiant. No, Maybe Let's make something more vivid. Yeah, let's just create some random shapes like that and goto this Grady int or just press G. Sorry. Radiant tool. Make sure it's on this The first box and to supply like that. Click. Ok, click click again on this tool right here on DA. Create this effect on another part again. - So , yeah, I just created these random shape is shapes. Ah, right here. So I think it looks better with them. Now we can add the three d objects we created on cinema four D. So let's open them Call pit phase. Let's move them above the mean lier. Let's greater coping by holding old Let's make them a little big, A little bit bigger holding shift to keep the proportions. Yeah, let's create some copies of it and just place, um, in random parts and see how it looks. Yeah, maybe. Let's ah, click on this first layer right here. Hold shift and the last layer on da right click Merge there so we can get them in one layer and maybe delete some of them. That said the hardness 200%. Okay, I think it's ah, a lot off objects. So we need to get rid of some of them. Yeah, I think it's OK. Maybe we can see how it looks on different colors. Maybe raise the saturation. Yeah, I think it looks much better in this darker way. Greek. Okay. And now Ah, I don't really like these green parts right here, So I'm creating a new layer and ah, go to brush, tool, lower the hardness. And just I'm just adding some blue on this. Ah, green parts, maybe. See how it looks on overlays off light. I don't know. Yeah, maybe go to this layer. Create clipping mask. I don't know. Maybe we can see I like this. This effect. I think it looks lose good. Maybe we can work more on this layer with image adjustments, levels. Let's work again with two situation. I don't know. Maybe we can make this bigger. Select the whole chief to select them both. And command control, t hold shift to keep the proportions. Maybe we can select even the shapes. So three layers and now we can make some final adjustments. Click on that right here. Goto curves. So just try to move them up and down until you find something you like. You can come up with your own colors. I chose this blue and purple Let's go to color balance. Maybe we can add some blue on this. Uh, from this background, let's see how it looks in different modes. Modes. Let's lower the capacity. Yeah, I think it looks better with this blue shade. So let's see again. Whose situation, if you can get a better result. I like this one more, I think. Anyway, this is totally experimental. You can choose your own colors. Another thing I can do is ah, copal This select allow and ah cope immersed paste and ah, maybe at some some noise he had just a little bit. So yeah, I think, uh, that's it. The you can experiment more with it and maybe come up with something you would love to see what you want to come with. You can share it on the project section. I'll make sure toe to leave a comment on the review and share it on my so Graham page two. So if it's something you don't understand on some or something else you would like to know , make sure toe leave a comment or send me Ah a d m on instagram will make sure to answer and help you. I hope you enjoy this class. And ah, you can check my works on Instagram and maybe suggests ah, about the next tutorial. So I see on the next class. Bye.
