Project Description

The project for this class is two beautifully textured pairs of stud earrings - and if you already have the jewelry making tools and materials needed they should only take you 30 minutes to make!

The reason that the silver donuts end up as two differently shaped pairs of earrings is the shape of the hammer that I have used. Swiss-style hammers, or cross pein hammers, have a fairly thin straight head. When you hammer the metal moves at right angles to the hammer head. So, by hammering in different directions I can make each pair of earrings into a different shape as well as giving them a lovely texture.

By the way, my cross pein hammer is over 40 years old and I inherited it from a family friend. The head of the hammer has been filed, resulting in a thinner hammer head. Watch out for a video class on how to adapt your own cross pein hammer!
