About This Class

15c1dbf4

Have you ever looked at a drawing of a strange alien world or futuristic city and wondered: How did someone come up with that crazy idea? Me too!

Concept art usually refers to world-building artwork used to inspire the development of a bigger project. It's an approach to drawing utilized by visual artists, authors, game designers, filmmakers and many creative storytellers. For me, it's a way to mix real-life and imagination and bring new depth to a drawing.

Here are the topics I'll be covering:

  • World Building
  • Utilizing Fantasy/Sci-Fi Tropes
  • Finding Inspiration
  • Gathering References
  • Planning a Composition
  • Illustrating Depth
  • Styling Line Art
  • Using Tonal Planes
  • Choosing Colors

All you'll need for this class is a pencil and paper but I'm working in Clip Studio Paint for visual clarity.

Awesome classes, all of them! By the way, awesome videos on your youtube channel. I feel inspired to stop watching so many classes and start just drawing.

Very good, thanks
This is an amazing class. The instructor gives incredible insight into creating imaginary worlds as well as drawing those worlds. I really appreciate that he shares with us his personal process and guides us into forming the best questions to ask to find the direction we need to follow. Much more than a class on drawing (though his technique is excellent and I learned so much following his step by step) This class is about creating and developing what has until now only lived in my imagination. I highly recommend this class. And BTW, his voice is a pleasure to listen as well.
