About This Class

You might think that making your own candles at home is difficult, but it’s easier than you think! Candlemaking lets you completely customize your product, and it’s inexpensive compared to buying candles in a store. In this class, you’ll learn the types of soy wax you can use, what wicks work best with your container, and how to get the most out of your scent. We’ll then show you how to put it all together to create a candle that reminds you of your dream vacation!

This is a great course. I have dabbled in the past but it was useful to understand where i've been going wrong. Getting the correct wick for the diameter of your container, the ratio of scent to wax and also using a thermometer! I hadn't realised the importance of controlling the temperature. For some reason in a previous attempt I managed to create a candle flame thrower. I lit my wick and the entire surface of my candle went on fire. I'd be interested to know how I caused that, I concluded at the time it was either the wrong type of oil or I had used way too much of it. The only slight improvement that I could suggest on this course would be to add a recommendation for an alternative retailer for supplies that ships internationally so that it is more useful to your expanding audience. The site referenced on this course looks amazeballs but unfortunately only ship USA.

My name's John Norman, and I am the founder of Classy Smashed Co. candles. I started the company after graduating from college as a way to learn branding and marketing through a hands-on experience. I chose candle-making because it's a great craft for beginners, and tons of fun to make and come up with new ideas!

Besides crafting candles, I work as a graphic designer at a home shopping network, DJ at a K-pop themed club event in Austin, TX, and vlog about all things K-pop.
