1. 1. Class Overview / Pixpa Welcome: Hello and welcome to this class here today on skill share, dealing with picks BA building your own website professionally and easily online at a pretty affordable rate. I've been using picks, but for about six months now. I was previously a squarespace user, paying a lot higher premiums and not getting all the features that I wanted. There's a lot of pros and cons the balance between both squarespace and picks, but but personally picks. But it's works best for me because of this automated print processing for my e commerce galleries, which is so awesome, and I don't dive super deep into this video about the e commerce side on the automated process. I do have a YouTube video for that, which I'll leave in the course description, but I do talk about e commerce galleries and how you can set those up here in picks. But in this course, this course was designed with beginners and intermediates involved. I don't cover every single small little detail here, but I guide you through each of the tabs in areas of picks ba. So that way you get your site up and running pretty easily and pretty fast. One thing that also captivated me about picks but was, you get 15 days for free and you don't have to put in your credit card information to sign up for that trial. Without further ado, let's dive into the picks But tutorials here today I've labeled each thing in pretty decent sections, so there's a section you don't feel like you really need. Feel free to skip that video and move on to another one, but I'll see you at the end of the course. 2. 2. Pixpa Dashboard Overview: Now, I'd like to welcome you to the first part of this tutorial. We're gonna take a look at the pics, but dashboard, your dashboard could look slightly different than mine, based on different types of setups that you did along the set up process where you chose to be a photographer, a designer, whether you did one type of e commerce gallery or another. Either way, we're gonna walk you through that process. Anything you pick during the set up can, of course, be changed as you go through all this. But this here is your main dashboard. This is where you're going to come to each time that you log in and you'll be able to access any part of your website from this area. Over here on the left hand side, you have the option to view your current web site. So let's go ahead and do that. This one I have here is just a stock one set up for the purpose of teaching this tutorial for you. So go ahead and view what that looks like in that tab. And then over here you have a website tab, which is the main area that you're going to go in to find the different sections. The build your content is where we'll be adding pages and editing pages as well. It will be getting to that in a later section. Next up, you have your client gallery section. Personally, this isn't a section I use because I don't shoot for specific clients anymore. However, if you are a portrait photographer and you do things like weddings or engagements, couples, photography, family photos, any type of portraiture, this is a great place toe. Add those albums in because you can add a new album, you can title out with the name of the person or put a date things like that. You can also password. Protect this and allow them to have a proof gallery to go and look at their images, as well as make purchases or download the digital files. However, you want to set that up, the next tab on the list is the e commerce tab, and this is one of my favorite tabs to play around with. Now, within the e commerce tab, you have two different options. You can either set up an online store where you would sell physical or digital products. Or you could set up e commerce galleries. That's personally the route that I go, but I'll be explaining more about that in the e commerce section of today's class. The next tab you have here is the gallery APs so you can create Mobile APS centric around your site. Personally, I've never used this, but it does seem like that's something that's very exciting that I would like to try out. So perhaps that's something I can look more into and add into an updated class later on, or even add it to my YouTube channel to search for Chad everyday on YouTube and you can find a few videos for picks. But over there, the design tab down here is also what we can reach from the dashboard hitting the customization. But the design tab is where you control all the designs of your website from your header information colors, branding your logo, you can even change. The theme here is well, if the one you're currently using just isn't working out right after that, you're gonna have the marketing tab. Now, this is a very important piece of information here. This is where you control search engine optimization for your entire site as well as go in and manage individual pages In case you forgot something along the way. This is also where you'll go in and add your social media, your called actions, announcement bars and a few other things. But I've got a whole section dedicated just to this tab, so we'll get into more of that later. Finally, is your settings here. So you have a different settings for your website. This is one of the last pieces that were actually going to be walking through as this is one of the last things that you need to really be worried about prior to making your website go live and just a reminder when you first sign up for pics. But you are gonna have 15 days for free before you have to start paying for a subscription . If you choose to do so, that gives you plenty of time to get your website up and running. Now going back to the home page here into our dashboard. Ah, lot of those links that we just clicked on on the left hand side are accessible here on your main dashboard, such as adding pages you can skip straight to that, creating your store, the site settings air. Here you have the option to start your subscription, and there's a nice little user guide down here that helps you even further if you have any questions or you get confused along the way. But that's pretty much it for the dashboard section. What we're going to go into next is the customization and design of the website and show you how you can mold this website to look and feel how you want to represent your brand. 3. 3. Customizing your site: welcome to the customization section of today's course, so there's two different ways that you can start customizing your theme. From the moment that you sign in, you can go straight here from your dashboard, or you can click to Design Tab here at the bottom. But the first thing we're gonna do is update our site title and logo. So my personal branding and things that I typically go by is Chad every day. So I'm gonna update my site title to that, and I'm just gonna go ahead and find myself my logo. You can do that just by uploading it straight from your computer, and I'll show you some sizing things that you can do to make things a little bit better. Because I noticed the first time that I uploaded my logo upon a test. It was way too big, and I'll show you what I mean here in just a moment. So, depending on what size you've major logo and I typically make mine a little bigger for print purposes or for different areas that might need to use it. But you can see here that if I put the logo like that, it's entirely too big, in my opinion. So all you have to do, you can actually take your logo with here and just kind of move it down until you get to a size you feel like, works a little better. It goes ahead and changes and saves those things. And then we can just kind of look at it again, and I think that looks a lot better. But let me show you a quicker and easier way to work with that. So you either want to click on Customized style here or the design tab there's gonna click on customized style and is going to bring up a live editor of my current website. Now here we can also go in and change the theme if we want. But let's click on Header really quickly. You see my site title still chat every day, although it doesn't show up here because we've replaced it with a logo. But it's still great toe have that site title written in there for S e o purposes. Now, if you go to the logo section down here, you have your primary as well as an alternate logo. For my case, I'm just gonna be using the primary, but feel free to upload an alternate if you would like. But this is where it's really neat. You can actually change the logo size here and view a live update of what it's gonna look like. So that way you don't have to keep clicking on view website to see the changes. You can also click up here in this top left hand corner, where I'm kind of hovering the mouse around and change your website toe a mobile view to see how your websites gonna look on a mobile device. Now it may not look the greatest right now, but with the proper amount of changes and kind of moving everything around, we can get a nice little website that we like both on Mobile as well as computer. Now the header style section is a fun little layout to mess with. You can see the logo, how it's kind of over here, on to the left. But if you prefer something a little different, such as maybe your logo in the center with your links hovering all around it, I like that look right there as well, and that's kind of what I use on my personal Web site, except I believe that my logo has the navigation bar underneath. But I think it would be updating mind to include the navigation bar to be around the logo instead of underneath it. I think that looks really clean cut and very nice, so just know that you can make those types of changes. You can also set up your site title if you want it to scroll with the site as you scroll around or if you wanted to be fixed. If you want a sticky navigation or not, you can also change different types of fonts and sizes. Here, as with anything you do here, always make sure that you save your changes up in the top right hand corner so it applies to your live site and you don't lose those changes by accidentally exiting out or you know , your browser crashing or something like that. The other options through here are basically just ways for you to edit colors and spacing. I typically don't mess with your menu text and different things like that. So what I would recommend is just clicking in some of these different areas and changing things around. Overall, I'm pretty happy with the colors because white, black, gray and gold or kind of the branding colors that I typically use with my works. So everything looks good pretty much hear from stock as how I want to use it now. The last thing I want to talk about in the design section today is the gallery section. So, for example, this gallery here on the home page is a nice grid layout. But maybe on your home page, you want something more like a slider. While you can actually do that? If you click on your gallery layouts, it's gonna bring you up a whole bunch of different options, which are great. So you have full image layouts where you can do just a single image. You could do vertical scrolls or with text. You can also do a slider or a slider with a scroll. Let's go ahead and try that for our home page, but just to kind of show you there are some grid layouts, which are pretty neat. There's fixed grid layouts, which is what I typically use myself, and there's also blocked pattern layouts. So let's go ahead and save our changes here, and you can also work on your gallery if you wanted to be boxed site with or full with personally for me. I find that galleries, especially these slider galleries, work best when they're in a box style. So they're not expanding farther than the website, and it keeps everything nice and neat and uniforms. So now, if you wanna kind of see what this looks like, neither grabbed a slider and just move that over and look at your images. Or you can also be able to click on the images and that will slide it over as well. As you click on the next image, you have different display options. You can change this around if you want, so you could scale to fit with the images. You could do a full bleed. Whatever looks best for the images that you're using is kind of how you want to change that . And with these live previews, it makes it really easy. And once again you want to save the changes to apply that to your live website. Then we can go ahead and take a look at our website just to see how everything's coming along, and I think that looks great. Perfect. So that pretty much completes the design section that I want to talk about today. You can go in and play around these different areas and edit as you choose. But I'll see you in the next section. We're actually gonna start building our website, adding pages and making some changes so you can see how all that works. 4. 4. Editing a Page: so welcome to the first half of building a website. What we're gonna look in on this first section is simply the pre existing pages and how to go in and edit different things about them. So what you want to do, we're going to start here on our dashboard and we're going to click over here on the left hand column where it says website to the first area we're going to focus on is our home page. And this is just kind of let you learn how to edit pre existing pages and to make changes. What I'm gonna show you here applies to any of the other pages and even galleries as you edit them. So it's going and click on the home page and we'll get that pulled up. So now you can see from the home page. We do actually have a slider gallery on here that with some stock images for the time being , and yours will probably look very similar. So if you want to get rid of those, if you click this unchecked check box up here and it will highlight all of those, you can hit the little dumpster and it'll delete all the images out for the sake of the editorial, I am gonna leave those here just because it makes things a little bit easier to understand . But when you empty this out one add your own images in there. All you have to do is click in this top right hand corner of ad media, and then you can choose images, video or HTML slides, and you would just click images or video whatever you want to do. And then you would just browsing, upload. Or you could just drag and drop into here, and it's gonna load in all your images. You can rearrange these, however you like faras just dragging and dropping them around. You can also go into your settings here, and the settings is gonna be the same for every single page. As far as the layout of how to change things so you can change the titles, you could make it visible, hidden or unpublished. So unpublished would be great if you're still working on a brand new page and you don't want to showcase something that's incomplete. You can also do hidden pages if you don't want it to be shown on your main site that way, maybe like a client gallery or something like that, they'd have to have a special link to get to it. And you might even consider password protecting those pages in case the client hasn't paid you for access yet. Or you don't want other people being able to view a certain clients photos, maybe a little bit more intimate or private. So that's a good option you have there as well. Now this thumbnail image, I believe we might have talked about this in the design section, but basically what you want to do here is make sure you upload an image that is going to represent your website. So when people share your website to social media, there's gonna be an image that shows up and not just text or just a white blink placeholder . You could have a beautiful image to help drive traffic to your site. You also want to have a headline. So a temporary one that I put in here was just chat everyday print sale now, so something to grab people's attention and bring them there. But you could put like an actual title, the official works of chat every day. Whatever you want to add for the particular page you're working on and a short description of May about 2 to 3 sentences explaining what the page or website is about and some tags. And then you want to work on S CEO on every single page you create because you want your pages to show up in Google search and look nice and neat. The Webcrawler loves that, and the better you do, it s CEO, the better. You're going to show up in results when people are looking for you. So what I did here is I just added in Chad every day photography, education, and that's how that's gonna look on Google. And then I put in a short little description here. It's not the greatest one, but it's just a place holder. And then once we go live with picks fa and by our domain, this will update here, of course, as well. So if you actually look me up on Google, this will say chat every day dot com. So that's just a few little things to change in the settings area of a website, and you'll design every single page exactly the same. Now, the design section. You can choose different things. So if you are doing like a gallery layout, as you could see here we have it set as a slider because that's how we decided we want our home page to be, because in our galleries, we're gonna do a grid format. But maybe yours is gonna be different. Maybe you want to be uniform across the entire site. Maybe you want to use just grids or just sliders that's totally up to you. But when you are editing individual galleries and things like that, you can use site wide options, or you can style a particular gallery a certain way. That choice is totally up to you, and you can also do different things, like display options. So show image with thumbnail image on Lee with captions, and I'll show you what that does here in just a second. But you do have a lot of different controls over how your galleries and slide shows actually work. So let's go ahead and view that gallery really quickly, and I chose to see the image with thumbnail. So if we click on it here and we zoom in, you're going to see the full size image here. But you also have the thumbnails to click on, or you can click the side arrows and filter through that way as well. So that's just a few little things to do as far as editing a page. Now I want to break these videos up. So that way, if you already know about something, you don't have to learn about something else. But the next video, what we're going to take a look into is actually creating a contact page. So I'm gonna go ahead and delete mine really quickly because that wasn't there to begin with. And I'm gonna show you how to create a contact page as well as how to edit one of these other pages. So the about page and then the video after that will be discussing the galleries themselves . But I'll see you on the next part of creating a page 5. 5. Building Content & Pages: welcome to the next topic where we are going to create a new page before we do create a new page. I want to show you how to go in and edit content on another type of page that doesn't have a gallery. So what we're going into is our about page here. And obviously I am not Sarah fashion designer. So I need to change a few things here. What we want to do is, first of all, change the image. So you want to click into this box here to get the content pulled up, and then you click on the image and then you click on this little image icon here and now I could just simply upload a photo of myself to replace that. Then I would also want to go over here and change the text. And then if I want to keep a button, I can do that. But I'm probably not going to keep one's. We're actually gonna just delete that away and make a nice, clean selection there. Now, you can also add content to your current pages that are already existing or new pages that you decided to create. And there's actually a lot of content to choose from. So one about page. I think it would be nice to have some content where we talk about ourselves just a little bit and then maybe have a section here. We showcase some of our work. So let's say we create a small slider and we could have, like, a slide with different things like that, or we could do images. So maybe something like this would be good. Have about four images going across, and we could just change these to be whatever we want. So if you pull up the slider here, for example, click on its little settings and pull up the images and replace those. So you have some your works down there, and then maybe I would like to add in some some testimonials. That would be nice so we could pull in some client testimonials. Looks like you can do that with some pictures of them. That might be pretty nice to do, and it's going to get that pulled up. So then you could put your client name a little bit information about them and then the actual photos, so that looks pretty good. So Let's go ahead and just save that page really quickly and after get saved, what's view it and see our changes that we made. So now we have our picture who we are. A little bit of information about us. Scroll down and see some works. Now, you could add some text in here explaining this stuff. You could take this away. If you don't want it, Scroll on down. You have some different testimonials here, and then you have your instagram feed at the bottom, which we're gonna talk about how to add that in a little bit later. But that's pretty much it as faras adding content. There's a lot of different stuff that you can add here. And if you're not happy with the spacing, you can actually go into the settings and move these things around so you can actually see here. Look, let's make this boxed and let's make the height a little bit smaller, so the other we gives. Now we're pulling things a little bit closer together, and that looks a lot better. So let's go ahead and save that in view. These changes. I'll be honest. That spacing was bothering me quite a bit. Things need to be a little bit closer together. Yeah, and that I think that did a perfect job of giving us some spacing. We could probably make that a little bit tighter if we wanted Teoh. But that's how easy it is to add new content to a particular page. So now that we've learned how to add content to an existing page, let's learn how toe ad a brand new page. So all you want to do is go back to your website editor here and we're just gonna click Add a page. Now, you have a lot of different options here, so you could see that there are some spacers in the the navigation bar. Currently, you can, ADM. Or those If you'd like, you can actually just kind of change that around. And you can actually change this around however you want. So if you don't want to do, say, a period like they've currently been doing, you could do some other type of symbol like say, you want to do two slash is there and let's go ahead and save that. So now we have two slashes on our menu bar, but now Let's say we want to add an actual page in this case, we need a contact page. We need a way for people to talk to us. So it's going to click on page and noticed this all of my current titles air in all caps. So we're gonna put our contact here also in all caps and we're gonna hit next. And now you have a bunch of different page options to choose from. You can start with a completely blank page and build it from the ground up yourself where you can go with a pre made template. You have different options from in your about page galleries, portfolios, landing pages. But in this case, we're making a contact page. And let's say your business has a physical location that you want to put in like a map for people to find you easier than you could use one of these pre existing map implemented templates here and use that. But for me, I don't actually have a physical location people can come to. So I'm just gonna click this one right here, and we're just gonna kind of edit this around just a little bit. So we have this get in touch here and like this spacer, I don't want that there. So there's ever something built in. You don't want to simply click on it, click the little red trash icon and that is now gone so that I like this look already a lot better. And then you just go into the different areas and just change around these different parts to customize it to your needs. We could change this image if we wanted to. We could also change the text. We can manage the fields here and ADM or to our contact bore, and this is very crucial. You want to be sure to go in and change this email address to whatever your email is, because if you don't, you're not going to receive the emails from your clients and your practical Miller reply back. And it's not very good business, so make sure you make this simple little change to make things better. Now what we want to do is go into the add new field here and you can add new. You can add new pieces to your contact form, so if you need like a name, a number and email whatever you want to do. Typically for me, I just do name, email and message. Sometimes I might ask for some more details. Like, if I'm gonna be doing a client shoot and they're wanting to book me for something, I might ask the location that they're wanting to do this at. So That way I can try to calculate travel and distance and things, and then you might ask for, like, their phone number so you can call them personally. And then as far as the button at the bottom, you can choose what you wanted to say. You can choose the size of the button, and if you want to invert or not, and then you have a post submit success message so you could put something a simple as your message was sent successfully or whatever you want to dio, you know well, be in contact with you soon, so that's pretty much it as faras adding a brand new page and making some changes to it. It's super easy to be able to add these pages, and, you know, I've already showed you that weaken, add and delete different things, so it's going get rid of this spacer here and say We want to add some more content. We could add literally anything we want. So some headlines we could add, um, again, we produce more testimonials. We do a frequently asked questions, which may be a great thing to add in on a contact page. So that way they could check these out before they send you a question, because maybe their question could be answered here. So a few different options you have there, but as faras making changes to you and adding content to a page or adding a page in general , that's really about all it Issa's faras building your website. So now that we've completed this section, what we're gonna jump into next is looking briefly at client galleries and jumping heavily into e commerce. But I'll see you on the next video 6. 6. Client Galleries Overview: originally, I was going to do client galleries and e commerce together, but I felt like that I was trying to rush through too quickly to get information out about both. So gonna break thes up into two separate videos? So for the client galleries, this is a great place for you to create galleries to specific clients. You can password protect the different galleries and also require ah name and email address to go in there. You can set him up to be monetized where people could buy straight from it, do digital downloads or actually order prints where you could just set it up where they can't do any of that, have e commerce cut off altogether and downloads just as more of like a proofing thing. So it's Go ahead and pull up this gallery, and you see, I have Client one gallery here and we're just going to click Enter now. It should prompt me for a password, which it did not. So let's go ahead and pull this back. Privacy. Here, we guess, what's going? Our privacy settings. We'll make this a password protected album 1234 and save it. So now that changes have been saved. Us. Go ahead and click view one more time, and now you have an album password. So let's do 1234 Click, Enter. And now Client one is able to get into you there. Galleries are going click. No, here. Now they can actually view the different images by clicking on them, but you'll notice that there's no way for them to, um, there's no way for them to download or Teoh actually purchase anything, but they can still right, click and save the image. So how do we change that? Let's go show you something really quickly that I did kind of failed to mention a little earlier, but we're gonna have to back up out of all this and actually go into our settings down here Now. I was saving this section for the end, but to kind of show you how this is gonna work. There's an option on your websites to do right click protection if you just click enable on that and go ahead and save it. Now let's go back to that client gallery and let's take a look at how everything is now, so we want to go into this gallery and we want to view the gallery. Now when you click on an image and you right click, nothing happens. So there's no way to pull this image off of the gallery or anything. So now you're images air totally safe. If you don't want them to be like, illegally downloaded or falsely download by your client, that doesn't mean they can't screenshot the gallery and still things. But at least they're not getting those high res files. But that's a few things that's great about the client galleries. I'm not gonna go into huge detail in it on this video. Ah, lot of it's pretty straightforward and and simple to do. It's not something that I use on my websites because I don't photograph for clients in this way anymore. I pretty much just go out and photograph landscapes and things and try to sell my artwork that way, Which is why I'm gonna focus more on the e commerce section. I just want to let you know that there are client galleries available and they're fairly simple to use. You literally just go through it. You can actually change the picture here, So if you want photographed a family, you could put their family photo up here. Good view comments on here and talk back and forth with your clients and let them know some information. There's a lot of customization things you can do. He actually can add in the e commerce options, which will be talking more about in the next video. So maybe after you watch that this will give you some more insight for how this section works. So few cool little things that you can do for client galleries, and hopefully that helps you out. 7. 7. E-Commerce Store vs. Galleries: we're on to one of my favorite sections and actually one of the main reasons that I came over to picks. But from over at Squarespace is the e commerce section, so there's two types of e commerce that you can actually do here. You can either do a store where you sell products, digital downloads or services from the website where you can do e commerce galleries, which is actually what I do. So if you want to do things like there's a lot of photographers out there that will sell light room presets and things like that, you know, the store side of things might be a little bit better. If you have digital downloads like sound files or courses that you want toe sale on your side or things like that, the store is probably better option for you. But for me, I like to use e commerce galleries, and many of the things we do in the galleries are similar to what you would do in the store really quickly in the store. You basically want to make sure the stores enable you want to make sure the stores enabled , and then you'll just simply start adding products. I'm just one way and take one of the current products that's already in here and kind of show you how that works. You basically just title this out. But in the price, you could put in a description about it. If you want at a video, you could make it active now or inactive. Coming soon. Structure, categories, tags how we wanted to your shipping, which you can set up over here on this side in the shipping tab. You could do inventory pretty much everything you need to do or are familiar with e commerce whatsoever. Then this is gonna be a pretty simple process for you. But once you get it up there, it's gonna have all your stuff ready to G. O. And you can start selling your products right away. Now, in the e commerce galleries, I am going to go through kind of these different sections. So if you do go the store route, just know that you will be doing basically the same thing in the shipping and tax and payment methods. So first of all, I'm gonna go ahead and enable e commerce galleries, and it's gonna give me a prompt here. That says, the store section of my website will be deactivated because in the plan that I use, at least you can't have a store and e commerce galleries. You have to choose one or the other. And I think that works fine because I don't really plan on selling other products. And if I do want to sell it to products, there are platforms out there available, right. It's sale digital products versus my e commerce gallery. So with an e commerce gallery, what's really neat is your basically dis creating galleries like we did a little bit ago. So it's viewer website here and let's click on galleries, and basically, this is what you're doing. You're just creating a cool little gallery of images. Except this time, when you click on the images, you're given your customers the option to purchase them. So if we want to create gallery number one and orders going to call this landscape prints and then you're going to choose a pricing sheet in this case, we're just going to choose the myself, fulfill option, and then I'll explain another process you can do, which is the ultimate reason that I came to picks, but in just a moment. So now we have our gallery set up and ready to go. All we have to do is add in our images and then determine our sizes and things like that go into our settings the same we would any other thing we do on the website. Make sure all this is set up how we want it. But let's go over to pricing sheets, because that's something very important here. And this is gonna help your galleries so much. So if you want to do self fulfillment, which basically just means you're going to make the prints at home or when you get in and order, you're going to send off in order to a printer, have it shipped to you. Package it up, send it to your client or do like some type of drop shipping, which I do an automated drop shipping through the print lab's here, which is through White House custom color, and we're going to get into that in just a moment. But if you're gonna do self fulfillment, you basically want to go through. Put in all the sizes that you're willing to sail, set up the prices for those and then determine what you want to charge for shipping or if you want to do free shipping. There is also a category for some digital downloads. Who say you want toe sale your images from your gallery as digital and like for desktop backgrounds and things like that, you have that option as well. But basically, once you get your pricing sheet, set up and figure out how you want to sell your images. Just go through these different sections and make sure everything is set up properly. So shipping you can have a free shipping rate, and you can actually choose where the country you're free shipping is. So if you want to be in the United States because it's pretty affordable, you can choose that. Or you can just go in and select country by country and have complete control over how you want your shipping set up. Tax rates is something also important to think about, especially in e commerce. Used to the rule of thumb was that if you have a business and say the state of Virginia like I do, I would only charge sales tax to other people in the state of Virginia if they're receiving a physical product from me. But online tax laws are changing around, and now you're supposed to collect tax based on wherever the item goes. It gets a little confusing, so make sure you read upon the tax laws before you start going crazy on this and getting behind on the taxes because you don't want to do that. But you could have different tax rates based on if it's going to this certain state or the country or to another country. And you can just add in these different tax rates and edit them however you need to do. And then you can also choose your payment methods. Here there's a few different options so you can use stripe payments. I personally use PayPal on my personal Web site, and then you can also accept offline payments where people conduce a ah, cash on delivery so you'll just meet up with them locally. They'll pay you cash your check or however you want to do that. And for Indian users, they have pay you money. Now the neat thing is, is thes print labs where you set up with White House custom color. I'm not actually going to be going over that in this skill share class because I have a dedicated video on YouTube talking about it, and I'm probably gonna need to do an updated tutorial explaining it a little bit better. It can be a little bit confusing, and it is a little bit time consuming because you have to wait a few days for White House custom color to get your account set up and send you in some marketing materials before you can use it. But it's well worth the wait, because the way this works is now. I have a print lab where I can still do self fulfillment if I want. But you also have the option for a fully automated print sailing process, which is what I do. Now let me show you how my website looks so you can see the full and gallery. So this is how my live current website is. It needs some updates itself, but I have a home page and it's just some images. But if you go to the shop page here, you'll see that I have e commerce galleries, landscapes. So now I have a bunch of different landscape photos that I'm currently sailing live on my website. So if someone was to click on one and say I want to purchase this, then they can hit the little by icon and it's going to show them every available option for this particular print. So this was an older photograph taken on a not so great digital camera, so the final size isn't that huge, so therefore, the prints aren't quite as big now. I could re export this. Make it better, but I'm kind of getting off on a tangent. But this is kind of how the e commerce galleries work. You can create a many galleries as you want Right now, I just have landscapes, but I could do like events, or I could do it by places. So if I wanted to be my files to be from a certain state or just landscape specific or maybe trees macro photography, whatever type of e commerce gallery you want to set up is great, and I do highly recommend that you don't just put all of your images into one boat and try to sell that way. I do recommend creating multiple galleries based on the type of content so you can market it different ways to different people. Now a couple other things you have here in the e commerce or some discount coupons that you can set up there's a really cool if you want to run specials around holidays or for friends or family or anything like that. And that's pretty much it as far as how this all goes and how it's set up. Just want to create the gallery the same as you did before and in your pictures. Set up your pricing sheets and you're good to go. Now. Marketing Tab Overview: most complete with learning about picks by here today. We're on the marketing tab now, and you can see this from the main menus. Left hand sidebar. Just the little marketing tab. So this is where you're going to control your search engine optimization at in your social media pages and you could do some different things, like a call to action announcement bar and dis different little things you can do. So the first thing you wanna do is make sure that you fill out all your search engine optimization stuff. So you want to make sure you have your site title some of do Chad every day photographer and then a little description about myself. This is a website about me. So you want to write about two or three sentences there, and that just helps you to show up in the Google search results and make sure your pages showing up where it needs to be. There's a lot of competition out there, so you want to be sure you do this part And if you go into the s CEO manager in the S e o manager, you can see where we added into our home page earlier. A page title and description that's already done. But these other pages we've created and have don't have s CEOs we need to add in our titles and descriptions to those as well, and that's pretty much it as Faras S CEO goes, but Social Media, this is going to be another important one. So currently Instagram and Pinterest is here. I don't actually have a Pinterest page. We're going delete that, but instagram dot com slash chad every day. And then if we want to add more pages, so I have a YouTube channel. So one type in YouTube, youtube dot com ford slash chad every day, and then any other social media pages you have now, you can choose to show your social media icons on your header footer or both, or on widgets as well. Now here's the instagram parties tend about earlier. If you click authenticate instagram, it's gonna pull in your instagram feed and then on any page that you added an instagram slider such as right here it's gonna have Follow me on Instagram. It's gonna have your updated most recent photos and a way for people to click and go to your instagram toe actually follow you. So that's a cool little thing that you might want to add to your site as well. And this farce, social media sharing, same deal uploaded image here. So that way, if people are sharing away, it's gonna have an image there to show instead of just a blank placeholder. So you have a few other marketing items, such as a call to action button. You can put this in the menu, so actually put yester no here, and that leads people to a certain page. So if you're running a promo, a discount, a sale, if you got a new YouTube video out, you want to point people, Teoh. That's a great way to do that. And then you also have an announcement Bar. So announcement bars are great if you're running some type of sale. Ah, and to continue using this feature, you have to subscribe to grow plus store or plus images. So you do have to have a subscription to do this, but you can have this full with announcement bar show up on your website. So if you're running a print sale or you just want visitors to know something specific. Maybe your booking clients for next month. You can actually type that announcement bar, and when they get on, it'll pop up and let them know. So that's a pretty neat little feature as well. Have some mailing list options here. I personally don't use this one. I use mail Chimp if I'm doing any type of newsletter or email capture services, and if you go down to the partner deals, you'll actually see some different things here. Personally, I've not used any of these, but you do get some really good discount offers through some of pixels partners. If there is something in here that would help you out, so that's pretty much all there is to the marketing tab. There's not a whole lot in here, but the things that are in here are very powerful and very important to your website and getting your name out there. But I'll see you in the next video. We're going to jump into the final Tabin picks, but and that's our settings tab here at the bottom, some a lot of important information in here that we need to go over and talk about, but I'll see you on the next video 9. 9. Settings Tab Overview: So now we've made it to the final tab of our overview of picks. But here today and this is our site settings. This is going to control all the main kind of back in features of the website, but definitely some important things to look over and consider prior to launching your website. So, first of all website search, I'm gonna make that active. I think that that's a good help for a lot of things. We've already talked about the right click protection. I do recommend going ahead and enabling that because this next section I want to talk about , although that it's really neat. I don't recommend using the watermarks, but we're going to take a look in that here in just a moment. If you do want analytics, that's one thing picks but doesn't have built in automatically is no. There's no analytics showcasing how many people are visiting your site and things. So you do need to get the Google Analytics code from your own Google Analytics account at in there. So that's something you can very easily do if you need to do that. Ah, jpeg image size. What this is going to do is determine the quality of your images. Realistically, you're not going to see a massive difference between 90% quality, no compression and 75% it's probably even pretty safe to go down to 60%. What this is going to do is allow your website the load faster for people viewing your site for the first time, just so those images will load in. And it's also very friendly to Google because the faster your website is, the more that Google likes it, and they're gonna help promote it. It's kind of sort of a part of the S CEO, in a way, so that's just something to think about. You do have the option for discuss comments on blawg posts. So if you do set up a blogger on your site and you want to allow conversations and comments , you can actually sign up for discussed user name. And then that's how you do that. You can sail images using photo moto. I've never used photo moto before, but if it's something you feel like would be beneficial to you or you have used it, definitely at least check it out and see how that works for you, and you can also have some spam filter form submissions here. Type in any spam keyword you want, and it's gonna block out those words from actually going into your forms. Once you are ready to go live with your website, you want to connect your domain so you can check out Go Daddy Google named cheap or any other domain provider out there by your domain, and it will teach you how to set this up. It's fairly straightforward how this works. There's definitely some help articles out there available to guide you through the process . You have an inbox here, so if you get any orders or any messages sent to your contact form or anything like that, your messages will show up in here. So that way, when you log in, you have a great way to kind of keep track of things. Make sure you don't miss anything. There's the cookie consent. Boehner. There's just a lot of different back in options, so use the cookies for the experience. You can have that active so people can accept or not system labels and language. You can upload files, and the files could be stored. Obviously, with the trial account were not allowed to upload things, But you could just store like your images and things in here. That's actually what I do for my e commerce galleries, because I have to store larger files into, the website said. The automated process actually works, So this is something that's very important for me. Ah, and then watermark images. Watermarks is something that I'm kind of on the fence about, like I get why people do it. But personally, that's just not something for me now as faras on your client galleries. Maybe that isn't the worst thing in the world to do was square and cut it on and kind of see how this would actually look such at every day or position it right in the center. You can also use watermark images here other than text, but you can actually do watermarks here with inside of picks, but or you create your own watermarks. Personally, I never put watermarks on any of my images because a watermark is never going to fully protect your image from being stolen. It literally takes about three seconds to remove a watermark from any image on the planet I have a YouTube video showcasing that, and I just think that watermarks take away from the beauty because I'm sitting here looking this beautiful image, trying to bait, You know, if I want to buy it or something and there's a big giant watermark on here, that's pretty much all I'm going to focus on, and I get that there is in some ways it kind of helps the market and things. But the way that we have our website set up with right clicking, disabled, nobody's going to right click and get a nice resolution image from your site. It's just going to tell them no, they could take a screenshot into what they want, but they're never gonna have that full resolution image to really be able to sell it or anything like that. So personally for me, watermarks air out of the question. But if you do want to use them, you have that capability here. You also have some different calendar events that you can set up, so if you want to create an event that you're going to be doing, like a print sale, or if you want Teoh actually host like a time to set up and do many sessions or whatever it is you want to do. You have that option as well. And there's also a lot of third party integrations you can do here. We already talked about a few of these different ones, but you can add in like Google Maps, Google Calendar and they have learned more sections. Here you just click on the link and it tells you how to incorporate this stuff within your picks. But website. So, of course, here's our Google analytics Male chimps in here. So a lot of different third party options that you can add Facebook Messenger chat so you can actually add that to the website so people can message you through Facebook. So a lot of cool stuff here in the Settings tab. So, you know, don't forget to go through here and set a lot of this stuff up before you do go live. But overall, that's pretty much everything on picks, but I think we've covered every topic pretty well. Class wrap up: and that pretty much sums it up. I don't know about you, but I think it's a pretty simple process. We go through to set up a website on picks, but there's a lot of powerful features in there and a lot of customization options that you can do when the important things to remember is if you're still in your free trial, just keep playing around with stuff and get everything exactly how you want before you release your final website. I used to build websites and WordPress into a lot of my own coating and things, and I got tired of that and moved over the square space. And Squarespace was great. But it was costuming, more money than I wanted to spend, and it didn't have all the features that I wanted. So I found out about picks. Ba and I was hooked right away. I think I want to be sticking with picks, but for quite a while go. So far, they have all the features that I could ask for an easy process, and I'm overall very satisfied with their customers supporting things.
