Project Description

Create and host a website to promote your business or strut your stuff!

You probably know that Amazon.com sells all kinds of stuff, but did you know that they are currently the leading provider of cloud-based computing technology on the planet?  Netflix, Airbnb, Yelp, Expedia and many more sites run on Amazon Web Services.

After completing this class, you'll create a host a simple website using the same technology, for a full year - FREE!

In this class, you'll learn to use one of the most popular services from AWS - Simple Storage Service also referred to as S3, to setup and host a simple, static website.  S3 gives you access to virtually unimited space for storing files and can be used to host static web pages.  This class will utilize the 'Free Tier', a program where Amazon gives you access to 5 gigabytes of this cloud technology for the first year, absolutely free.

After that, you can decide what you want to use.  Current pricing for S3 storage ranges from 1.25 cents per gigabyte a month, to 3 cents per gigabyte a month.  You can create a lot of web pages for a mere 3 cents!

Have a domain?  I'll show you how you can use 'subdomains' to create custom sites that are easy to setup and find using your primary domain.

Your assignment:

1.  Watch all the videos

2.  Open an account and create your website

3.  Post the URL in the Class Project section
