About This Class

  • In this class, the students will learn several basic bookbinding  techniques and produce three books using materials they have around the house. The first book is a simple snip and fold book that can also be used as a greeting card. The second and third books are small albums or journals. These books will be the foundation for more completed books that include flaps, hidden compartments, and books within books in future classes.

Projects

I've been crafting and sharing my love of crafts with children and adults for years. I have done spinning and weaving, felting and dying, sewing and quilting, knitting and crocheting, printmaking and paper-making.

But when I took my first class on bookbinding I knew I had found the one thing that really held my attention. There are so many types of books and so many different techniques that can be used to make them, that it will take me a lifetime to explore them all. I started making simple fold and cut books and I've progressed to my latest book, a hand stitched book, using an ancient binding technique.
