About This Class

Learn The Guitar - Learn The Blues

This course is dedicated to the legendary Bert Weeden and is a slant on his classic "Play In A Day" book. Rick Payne will get you playing blues in a day and gives you all the easy bits to really get you going. All you need is to master a few chords and give your thumb and fingers room on those strings. Ideal for beginners of both acoustic or electric guitar.

'Many of the legendary guitarist of the past 50 years have been qouted as saying that Bert Weeden gave them their first start on the guitar. Players like Eric Clapton and George Harrison benefited greatly from his guitar tutor which was unique at the time. Rick Payne pays a cheeky nod to Bert's, 'Play In A day' and has created 'Blues In A day'.'

1. Introduction: Hi, My name's Rick Pain and Fax Finding me on Welcome to my course blues in a Day Now. But get a grip on these basic shuffles and here's shuffle number one. - Okay , we're gonna try Shuffle number two, and this has a slight variation. As you move the third thing into the fifth box. Now don't forget there's lots of different variations to these shuffle. Single Note Blues Ex. 1 - 10: okay, now wants a single note. Blues. Ondas loads a video exercises here. It's a big part of the course. Really? What's going Remember, you can use the electric guitar acoustic guitar. Now here's that blue scale with a little bit more pace way, a little bit more flavor. We're gonna try bending up that first noted scare a lot. Single Note Blues Ex. 11 - 21: And here's those bends with little riff sounds like this. Now there's lots and lots of variation Tual these scale notes that we're learning on. I think this exercise we're gonna do some mending, but we're gonna bend the low strings down towards the floor. You can't really bend them up. Otherwise, self paying off the fretboard like So. So what's clear for the video? Here we go. Way, way bending the low notes. So watch out. Um, once again, this one introduces a little bit more pace. And with them with those triplets there you can see them bending up the first night of each trip. So here's our first effect, which is the pull off on. It looks and sounds like this. Pull that down towards the floor. There's up alone 12. Single Note Blues Ex. 22 - 27: now the opposite to a pull off is a hammer On on this is virtually as it sounds and looks. Another great effect is sliding into the note that we play on as you can see from your tab to simply slide into the third box on, then play the next note. There's a quick note about the right hand. If you're using the electric, just keep down strikes fairly even and smooth. If you're using your fingers trying to snuggle into the streams, they're very simple single night, so you shouldn't have any problems with this one way.
