About This Class

Utilizing the processing power of computers, bioinformatics strives to solve problems within the biology field. This course will focus on genetic applications of bioinformatics, but other topics such as ecological models and protein structure. Main topics include sequence alignment, phylogeny, use of databases, and gene expression. Reviews will cover the basics of the biological aspects and applications of this knowledge (such as phylogenetic terminology) as well as go into depth about the computational side of these topics.
