About This Class

After requesting access 'beyond the vine' and getting access in a few weeks i decided to make a little course about my pipeline and process that i'm going through to publish longer form content on vine using this new beta feature.

in this course we. ..

  • what is 'beyond the vine' beta (spec etc)
  • making a 720 x 720 hd video clip at the start of your content
  • uploading and interface screencast
  • content and concept ideas - showreels, course promotion, short stories and documentaries

as a content creator we get through many platforms and each has a different approach and audience. in this course we look at how short content can bring attention to longer form content in vine. i see this almost like video landing pages in approach. initial vine video which you can share everywhere and when people head through to the vine you can watch the longer content on both mobile and desktop.

the game now for social media platforms is attention. the longer they can keep you and your eyeballs in one place allows for time to upsell or keep your attention on that brand/platform.

as usual, any questions. just drop me a message!

1. 1.0 - introduction: this course is around 20 minutes. All right, For this course, this is beyond the vine. We're looking at the new beat, a feature that's come out from Vine that allows you to put on additional videos of two minutes, 20 seconds. So what is beyond the vine beater? We're gonna be making a 7 20 by 7 20 hasty video clip on the start of your content, which then goes on to play the additional content as watch. Let's watch Mawr. We're also gonna be uploading on. I'm going to show you the interface that you get from the website. When you log in, you get additional button when you're actually part of the beater, which enables you to upload this longer form content on de So what kind of content should be would be making for beyond the vital Got few suggestions and ideas for that 2. 1.1 - spec and features: it's a request only featured a minute to allow partners toe upload two minutes and 20 seconds more longer. Video, As you know Vine, is a six second video clip that loops around. This is an additional feature, I think, for partners originally that have longer form content, maybe a YouTube channel. And it's a way of getting you in the audience over to their longer form content to make you look at their YouTube channel on, obviously, to engage with their longer form content past the six seconds. So the maximum file size is 600 meg and its haste to 64 It's full 10 80 at 30 frames a second. It's possible to upload via the Web on the APP, but you need content in the right format on your phone. So so far I've only been doing this from the desktop on the website and on the app that uses hits a watch more button, which is in the bottom right hand corner. So you gotta be careful of that one. You're making your videos to watch the long tail version of up to two minutes 20. There is some basic kind of engagement in there in a minute with the Harting section, so there's a basic, halting capture. When people like what they're watching, they can tap the heart button and it does this series of hearts, but I think it's a really weak kind of installation. Off captured. The moment doesn't really seem to do that much. I don't see any stats on the back end, so I'm hoping they're going to improve that in future version. 3. 1.2 - make a 720p vine: so the vine current Hey, HD sizing is not 12 80 by 7 27 20 by 7 20 because, obviously, it's a four by three formats. But Vine still called this hasty, even though it's a little bit misleading. So all your content for the preview bit on your video has to be in four by three for it to fit in the middle of the screen. You can still do 69 video, but bear in mind that all the content needs to be square and in the middle. So I made my four by three content. Inside of keynote, I made a 7 20 by 7 20 pixel keynote stage on Bolted Everything Into the middle of Off that video. And then when I do my export into my movie or whatever video package that use, I just bring in that 7 20 by 7 20 clip into the front end of that video, and then the rest of it is 69. So you select the six seconds part, which, if you put that at the beginning of the video, will just automatically play that on loop brown and then you attach the full version so you . So you press on the plus button, which you'll see in the screen cast. Andi attaches the full version. Ideally, you want everything to fit inside of that four by three clip on not have anything clipped out on the outside edges. The current beater is very sparse. I have no idea if they're gonna release analytics out. Presume that would do, because I don't understand why they would give this to partners without some, you know, special analytics and give them an idea off the region. Who's talking to them, who's interested in there. Longer form content. Because there they're the people that you want to talk to, maybe to even get them to engage over on your YouTube channel. Surprise Vine hasn't put in some of those features yet, even just a feature to go to your Twitter account, which is directly linked with fine, obviously 4. 1.4 - what kind of content to make: so some ideas off how you can use this extra watch mawr feature this beyond the vine Show reels for actors, I think would be really good or footage from something you were in recently being out to just do a six second clip saying, Hi, guys, guess what? I've been on stage at such a such and then a two minute clip or a two minute 22nd clip off you onstage or some footage from the event. I think we really good for an up to date version two. If you like off actors content because most actors websites are very basic, very poor haven't been updated in four or five years, and I think this will make a riel inroads for people exposing you to different audiences online. So also course promotions pretty obvious, really share a section or introduction of your video of your course, maybe do a show reel of the whole course and just condense it together into a two minute block. Short stories could work great here. I've seen some great accounts that do a two minute short story or documentary and have a dedicated invite account for it. Documentaries in two minute chunks that time. Maybe you could slow release these for suspense over a week or a number of weeks on Finally cross platform trans media across platforms. Maybe you could do some kind of adventure clues where somebody post something on instagram . It's a serious is a clue that you have to decipher on. Maybe you play back this two minute clip in the halfway through the two minute clip. You can have people jumping around from one different platform to another to chase around the clues. It just opens up so much more avenues when you're asking the person who's watched something for six seconds, that then watch something more additional, says a different level of engagement going on them because they're interested, even Maurin what you're doing. 5. 1.3 - vine hd editing & upload screencast: So, as you can see, I have made a 7 20 by 7 28 de sized image or video showed to say I can change them out to different backgrounds. Something to use. This one actually just created a video here, which is 7 20 7 20 by 7 20 And then what I'm gonna do is I'm gonna drop it into keynote into my bumper, which is a 7 20 by 7 20 So I've made one for the beginning Star of the video. And then I can just drag this across as a movie which will then import it inside off key note. And then I could just position it size it up to 7 27 20 which is why I recorded it at She's there. Said it is back. Send it to the back. So the effort, it appears above it gonna make sure that I put that at the start. Andi automatically transition to it, automatically play it when it transitions, so I should be able to play this. You won't see some on your screen, but it's playing on my other screen so I can save that, going to save this out so exports is a quick time. Self playing 7 20 p format custom. I want it is 7 20 some 27. 20 on, uh, all those parades, we get high resolution as possible. I'm gonna save it is the bumper. And now I've got this additional file. I can take out those big, long pauses in the middle because it's exporting them as five seconds between each slide. I could tell that video chap on. Then it's gonna put a thing at the end and that's 11 seconds. So if I take out this sugar time, that should be about six seconds. This clip will go in the beginning, off my clip that I record for for vine, for the new beyond the vine. So now I've imported that 7 20 by 7 20 You can see that video at the beginning. Here you can see that the former the video 16 by nine. But I'm centering ultimately centers a 7 20 bison 20 movie in the middle on which is gonna be the star of the video. So this is six seconds of the front of video which allows me on beyond the vine to select that as the looping part of the video. And then all I've done is put my introduction which in my first fire that I upload onto skill share after it so that when people play on the watch more to watch introduction, they get that in 16 by nine. Alright, so I've rented it out. You can see it's 50 seconds long. Here it is in the file browser. It's 20. Makes it quite small. I've uploaded already to show you what it looks like. You can set the looping period, but actually I've pretty much nailed it on the first go, which is awesome. So it just grabs the 1st 6 seconds of the video. You can sort of school left and right, and you can see that you can select whereabouts. You want that six seconds to be captured from, which is kind of nice. So I just want to do that. I could have probably made a better video in the background. I turn the music up. By the way, this sounds like normally your parents grabbed my free Pokemon go calls today. I could have probably, uh you I made myself a little bit better there. But if you click on the right. Inside. It says, attach full videos. We're gonna add the extra 51 seconds. Um, that was the whole file exported that I'm just gonna put in here. Um, grab my free pokey, Mom. Go course for parents over on skill share. Follow the you are out in the video to get it for free and then put that into channel gaming. And I'm just going to click on Let's Go, which actually says yards on it you find is ready. 6. 1.5 - the roundup: So finally then the roundup I gave you an overview how you could utilise the beyond the vine beater. We used a 7 20 p HD clip on the max that which is the maximum that vine can except for the six seconds inside of the 69 video under two minutes and 20 seconds on. We had a look around the interface and give you a few concept ideas you could use to get started on creating your vine channel. As usual, police share review really keeps my spirits up. And I love making these courses to do. Share it out. I will catch up with you in my next course. Thanks.
