Project Description

The Class project will be to create an 8" hand drawn mandala.

I will walk you through the techniques that I use to create a basic symmetrical framework.  We will then add in hand drawn free form detail.  Finally we will ink our designs with felt tip pens.  You can use my suggestions or create some of your own as we work along.  You will end up with your own hand drawn mandala which you can use to colour, give to family and friends, or frame as one of a kind art on your wall.

I encourage everyone to upload their work in progress so we can encourage each other along the way. It is fun to see the many different ways people approach drawing.  Two people can have very different ways to draw the same type of shape or object.

On the project page upload the following

  1. your framework
  2. progress of your detailed drawing elements as you go
  3. progress of your inking
  4. your final mandala
  5. any supplies you find along the way that you like to use

Below is a picture of the finished Mandala I will be walking you through.  You are welcome to add in any of your own design ideas as you go.  You can do this one exactly as I have, for the first one, and then try something different for your next one.    There is no limit to the creative possibilities.
