About This Class

Interested in hand lettering, but not sure how or where to start? Join letterer Charlotte Hill in using a surprisingly simple tool--Crayola markers--to create beautiful script lettering.

Keeping it light and simple, Charlotte will lead you through several basical principles of lettering, as well as a breakdown of how she letters, from sketch to completion, using addressing an envelope as an example.

Once you’ve completed the class, you’ll not only have begun your journey of hand lettering, but you’ll have a beautifully lettered envelope ready to hand out to your current favorite person!

Supplies needed:

  • Paper / Sketchbook

A very good class on learning hand lettering or a good refresher for any one that already has handlettered. I’m going to make my mom take this class the next time she says she can’t handletter!
Inspiring and looks easy but the proof will be in the pudding. will I be able to develop this skill. I think I will if I practice. Practice makes perfect here.
I'm already a letterer, but this class really helped me get back to basics and remind myself of the basic principals of lettering that are so important. Charlotte does a great job of breaking things down and it was a short and simple course! Highly recommend for any beginners or letterers who need a refresher like me. Plus, I got to buy new cheap markers and get familiar with a new medium! Bonus!

Charlotte Hill Vandenburg

Letterer & Illustrator

Born & raised in the puddles of Portland, Oregon, Charlotte works there now as an illustrator, letterer, and designer. She's had the privilege of working with clients like Nike, Zoom+, and Uniqlo, but the greatest honor she's had so far was when an 8-year old sent her a drawing inspired by her work. When not working or stressing about work, Charlotte can be found drinking stupid amounts of tea, having too-long conversations with friends, or cooking comfort food.
