About This Class

How To Use This Course

The goal of this course is to help you learn how to play basic rhythm patterns that you can use in the simplest of guitar songs. At the end of this course you should understand:

  • How to count quarter and eighth note rhythms
  • Play using both down and up strums
  • Understand the difference between 4/4 and 3/4 time
  • What a rest is
  • How to switch between different types of rhythm patterns

This course is broken up into a series of Levels 1-3 with a bonus ¾ time rhythm worksheet. I will outline how you should work through this course for the best results and success.

Step 1: INTRO MATERIALS

Review the Intro PDFs. They will serve as a good background information to the video materials. I would start in this order:

  1. Getting the Most Out of Your Guitar Practice
  2. How to Count Quarter and Eighth Note Rhythms
  3. What is a Time Signature

Hopefully you will have a good understanding, but if you are still a little confused, don’t worry. Follow-up the written materials with.

  1. Guitar Strumming Intro
  2. How to Get the Most Out of This Course
  3. Intro To Whole Half and Quarter Notes
  4. Intro to Time Signatures

After reviewing the materials, you can either stop there to let the information absorb of jump right into the Level 1 rhythm patterns.
