Course Introduction: Hello and welcome to the course. My name is David Tyminski, and I got to tell you that this course is the one that I am most excited about. I was asked to do a advanced local design, of course, but I thought that for my students I should make it something special. So instead of just showing you the advanced Illustrated techniques, I thought that this course should also be about boosting your confidence in your design skills. And I thought that what better way to do that, if not by re creating logos off some of some of the biggest brands in the world and then redesigning them? So I thought that if you learn how to redesign logos off biggest companies, your confidence in your design skills will be on the highest level possible. So let's quickly take a look what we are actually going to be doing in this course, how this course is laid out and what you can expect. Each project is a combination off, recreating the logo and then redesigning it. And when I say redesigning, I mean some of the locals will get a modern lifting like getting rid of radiance and simplifying things, but some of them will be completely re created from scratch. Those are the especially poor ones, and along the way we're going to learn some fantastic illustrator tricks and techniques. I am not going to go through explaining how rotate all works or what an anchor point is, though in this course we will take a professional designers approach and use a lot of shortcuts. Sometimes I won't be even mentioning would shortcut I am using. But in that case, you'll always see a graphic on the left show. New Which key or a key combination I am using also, especially when transforming shapes a green circle will appear around an anchor point indicating reference point of a given transformation. But of course, if something is not clear, just post a discussion in our discussion board, and I will be happy to answer it. So thanks again for joining me in this course. I hope you had fun watching it as much fun as I had creating it. If you liked it, please leave an honest review. Join our discussion board where I am always happy to answer your questions, and I hope to see you in summer. Some of my other courses where I teach design weapons I logo design and flat design as well . So thanks again. My name is David Tyminski. 3. Customize the Workspace: if you want to follow along and I highly advise that you do, it would be great if your workspace looked like the one I will be using. And to tell you the truth, it's a slightly customized essentials workspace. I mean, we are going to remove a few tools and we're going to add a couple. So first thing I want to do is they want to make sure that my essentials workspace that we can check right here is set to default. So if yours not just select essentials workspace right here and click reset essentials just like that. And maybe let me just expand thes pounds right here so you can see which told I will be I will be removed. And I can tell you right off the bat that I am not going to be using the brushes, panels or the brushes tool. So I'm going to remove it. I'm not gonna be using symbols, but I am going to be using swatches a lot. And I think I will just move it up here. So it sits nicely along with the color and color guide like here. So I'm just gonna click on here Teoh close the brushes panel and the symbols just like that . So let's see what we got here. We got stroke grating transparency. We are going to be using these guys. You got the appearance we are going to be using as well, but we are not going to be using graphic style. So I'm just gonna bring it here and just close it like that. Well, we definitely are going to be using layers, and we are definitely going to be using art boards. But there's a few tools that are missing right here and that we are going to be using. So I'm just going to go to the window menu and in here I know that I'm definitely going to be using the align panel just like that. So I'm going to be so I'm gonna bring it over here and I'm just gonna docket somewhere here . And I am definitely going to be using the Pathfinder tool, so I'm gonna docket right here on maybe let's docket along along with the align panel. Why not? I don't think I ever using transform because usually all the transform functions will be displayed in the control panel. So if you wanna. If you wanna bring it over to your to your panels and docket a docket right there, you can do that. But I'm just going to simply close it. Close it like that. And basically, that's pretty much it. We're not going to be using any more. Any more tools If you want, you could use the type tools because sometimes they might come in handy. But again, usually when we are going to be using the funds. So I mean, we're going to we're gonna be creating text. All the necessary functions will be displayed in the control panel. So really all on, Lee, these tools are going to be used in the present, in the process, off recreating and then redesigning our logos. So now that we have all the tools we need, we can now save our workspace. And to do that, we simply need to go to the workspace switcher, choose new workspace, and you can give a day any name you want. I'm gonna I'm gonna call it advanced. That may be logo design, maybe design and sign. Why not? Advanced logo design sounds better. And I'm just gonna go okay as you can see I get my name right here. And this is my This is my workspace right now. So if I ever, accidentally or not accidentally, many different things happen. If I simply change the workspace right here, I can always go back to my workspace. And even if I accidentally remove some tool or maybe add some till I don't want, I could always go to reset and your workspace name right here. In my case, it's advanced logo design, so I'm simply gonna hit reset. And I have all my all my tools back in place. I think I'm gonna bring it, bring it to the right, and yet and we are ready to recreate. And a redesign 1st 1st logo. So hold on tight. Yeah, I know that was pretty late. So So let's just move to the next video. 4. Let's start the project: for first project. I've decided to go with this Chevron company logo and you don't know the company. It's a multinational energy corporation, and this local has been around for around 10 years, or maybe a bit less since 2000 and eight or 2000 and six. So I think it's high time to get redesigned, don't you think? But before, of course, we redesign it. We are going to recreate it and that things were gonna dio are going involve, of course, customizing a bit. This front right here, this text on then we are going to off course. Or maybe first we are going to create this Chevron sign, and that is the most prominent shape in this logo. It it actually makes the whole local look this cool. You have this cool and of course, we're gonna play play around with greatness, and I think we're gonna have ah, separate video just for the Grady INTs right here. And and would you believe that we are going to create this Chevron shaped that Chevron sign that would the pantaloon not with any any advance the facts or anything like that, but with a modest, humble rectangle tool. If you've seen my other courses or videos and you know that I am all about simplicity and practicality because I think that you really if you know the right techniques, you can achieve great effects with with a really simple steps. So after we are done with the real redesigning or re creating this logo, we're going to we're going to redesign it. And when? I mean, when I say redesign, I mean, we are going to simplify it. So first, we are going to simplify toe like this in this style. So we were going to strip this with these and Chevron's off radiance, and we're going to add these spaces in between and I don't know if, you know, and I don't know if you're interested, but I'm going to tell you that. Anyway, I'm a big fan of material designed. So, um, the the enter of this of this section we're going Teoh redesign on the Chevron logo in the material design Ah, style, which is basically adding this kind of shadowing effect here to to the chevrons. Okay, so, uh, let's actually take a look at what we are going. Teoh, What? We are going to achieve in this in this project. First of all, as I just mentioned, we are going to create this Chevron Chevron logo. And as you can see, we got two shapes actually here. There's one shape on the left and one ship on the right. But they are basically the shame at the same shapes that were going to achieve the final looks off them on Lee with simple point manipulation. Really, really simple transformations. And the Grady ants are a bit more laborious and bit trickier. So, as I said, we're going to spend a whole lecture on Lee on the Grady INTs. And as you can see this fund, well, it's slightly customized. I mean that originally the font used is called myriad pro, and you should have it installed on your system. It should be installed along with Illustrator. But if you don't have it on your system, I've attached a front called Noble Bold that which is very similar to to myriad pro, and it's a free fund. So if you don't have myriad pro in stolen your system, you can go for the free alternative and work along okay, so now that we know what we are going to? What we are going to do, what you want to achieve. Let's actually start designing. Right? But Lance, do that in the next video. 5. Let's start the recreation process: to redesign this local. We're actually going to need just a few collars. And I got them right here. So I got only two shades of blue and I got on Lee do shades off red. And I think it's a good practice to recreate this logo on a separate our boat and only separate a separate layer. So I'm simply gonna go to the art abort tool that sits right here. And I'm just gonna drag by holding down the shift and old keys together or option. If you're on a Mac shift, an option on a Mac and I'm gonna just drag it down to copy everything, everything like that. And of course, we can copy and everything that is on our art board. If we have this option, move copy artwork with aren't board selected. So remember to keep it selected when we are cloning any art boredom if we want to have on artwork cloned as well. So I'm simply gonna delete all these guys and I'm gonna cut them off of these colors. I'm gonna look the original layer and we're holding down the old or option in America. I'm gonna click, create new layer just like so And I'm gonna name it re cream Asian just like that And simply gonna base in front all my colors. And maybe I'm gonna move them right here and make them make them smaller. And I'm simply gonna love these guys just like that. I think we should start with the creating the Chevron sign and 11 ovary in very important thing right here. When you are creating this kind of a this kind of a sign, will this sign the shape In particular, we need to remember one thing and that is that the with off it and needs to be three times as as much as big as the height. So, for instance, if I'm if I want to create a rectangle, there is, say, 15 maybe 80 50 80 pixels high. I simply need to well, let illustrated do the calculations for me. So if I want Teoh Wonder with to be three times as much as my height some simply going to enter 18 times three and hit the tab, Key and illustrator counted the right dimensions for me. And this is important the this rule that the wit needs to be three times as much as the height is very important because we need to take care about to take care of the proportions . And for this shape, toe work, the proportions need to be that that the with is three times as much. US asked the height. So I'm simply gonna click. OK, let me zoom in a bit closer so you can see what I'm doing. Okay, Of course, What we need to do is we need to have this shape looking like a chevron, so it needs to have this kind of a V shape. So instead of just clicking with the pan tool or maybe with the Pathfinder, things like that, all we really need to do is to add anchor points to this shape. And the easiest way to do this is, of course, by going to the object menu path, add ankle points just like that. And what it does. Is it ants twice the amount of the anchor points already making the shape. So in our case, we had four anchor points making this rectangle, and now we added for more where we don't need the anchor point on the left and we don't don't need the anchor point on the on the right. So the direct selection till I'm simply gonna select them. And here in the control panel, there's the function called Remove selected anchor points. And that's important. We don't want to hit the delete key, because if I hit the delete key right now, I'm gonna delete We're not. Sankara points on. I want to remove them. So with the these are anchor points selected. I'm simply going to remove these anchor points so we can see that anchor points are gone, but the shape is still the same. Another important rule right now is for this V shaped to look nice and for it to behave properly later in the process of Via of recreating at this design where we need Teoh bear in mind that this middle anchor point and this middle anchor point well, especially this middle anchor point top middle ankle point that needs to sit right in the middle off the shape. Right? So this top anchor point in the middle of the shape eso knowing that my my rectangle is 80 pixels high. I am simply going Teoh, select this middle bottom middle top and middle bottom anchor points and double click on any of the selection tools to invoke on the move toe. And what I want to do is I don't want to move these guys horizontal, but I want to move them vertically. And as I said, if I want my well, I let my top middle anchor point to be exactly in the middle off my my rectangle. What I need to do is I need to move it by half off the height off the of the rectangle. So if my rectangle is 80 pixels high, all I need to do is to enter 80 and divided vie to because I have is usually to Can I say that? You know what I mean? So if I just divide 80 bye bye to of course I'm gonna have, I'm going to get 40. And as you can see, the Chabon looks pretty pretty pretty great, as Larry David would put it pretty cool. And, of course, if I had something or if you have something different if you have, say, like, 120 all you need do is too divided by two and let illustrate Do do the calculations for you . But all you need to remember is to enter the initial height of your rectangle and then simply divided by two. So in my case, is 80 divided by two. Not by four just like that. And I'm simply gonna hit. Okay, Of course, since I had to anchor points selected, they moved both right, So it's not that just my top middle anchor point moved. It also also my bottom anchor point moved it moved as well. And to finish the Chevron shape, all we need to do right now is to simply copy and based this guy in front. And maybe I will changed its color to something really arbitrary Can be live. Even this brave blue. Let's call the Brave Blue. And I wasn't gonna double click on it with the selection tool to answer isolation mode. And with the direct selection, I am going to mark or select this top left anchor point just like that and remove it again . So what we did right now, we can also remove this anchor point as well as we were not going to need it. So what we did right now is by removing this top anchor point. We simply told illustrated to connect the remaining anchor point, so to connect the remaining dots. And since we have no adult right here, no anchor point right here. Illustrator is gonna is gonna nicely connect these two anchor points like that so we don't have to worry about it. Of course, if we want to, we can remove these anchor points as well. If you're a kind of a purist, I am a bird. I got hit that. Admit that. And we also can even remove this bottom anchor point like that. So we got this shape, right? That and we already can see. We are starting to recreate this Chevron Chevron shape right here. So let me just quickly give these guys proper colors. So this one will be darker. But this one, this one would be lighter. This one will be darker, just like that. So we so, of course we're going and ingredients later on. But just so you have, so you get the sense of what we are actually doing here. Let's leave it like that. Okay, so now we have the main Chevron shaped created. I think it's high time We added, added the Grady's. We had fun with the greatness, but we are going to do that in the next video. 6. Let's add the gradients: Grady INTs. Some designers love them. Many designers don't love them, But at the time of creating the logo off this logo, designers loved Grady INTs. So we are going to recreate this local with with the radiance in this video. So I think that the easiest way to go and am great infill to an object is simply by pressing the period key on the keyboard. And just like that, we were by present appeared King. We are adding at the Grady into Phil to our object. And if we take a look, our our original Well, this Grady int is kind of simple. I mean, they're not not those many transitions, as in the in the bottom part, off the chevrons. So this one will be easier to recreate, Although it's gonna take, It's going Take some clicking and forgive me if I, from time to time, refer to to the original because when I was recreating it the first time, it took me literally hours to to get all the greedy INTs right. But I don't want oh, I don't want you to look at look at me and trying to figure out the greetings over and over again. So in order for me to and Grady INTs to my collars to migrating to stops right here, I need to double click on my on any slider, actually, on any radiant stop. And if I go to my swatches panel, I am able to choose the swatches and choose from my swatches and add colors. But as you can see, I don't have any swatches. Who, Right here. I mean, I don't have the Ryan swatches right here, which is actually a good thing, because we learn another another technique and illustrator. So I'm just going to select. Of course, they need to be unlocked. So I'm just going to select select these collars. Maybe I'll select the direct Selection tool club because they are a group. So when Onley the colors will the blue shades are selected in the swatches panel, I'm gonna click new collar group from the panel menu, and I'm gonna call these guys blue. Ooh, Chevron, Just like that. And the bottom guys will be cold red. Chevron. Why not? Let's go crazy rats forever. Okay, so now well, if I select my left part of the chevron and go to the Grady until and click on any Grady and stuff. I got my Chabon's and I got my I got my Chevron's right here on my colors are in my color swatches right from just gonna If I'm just going to click on any of these scholars, Of course I am going to get my going to get my Chevron going to get my collar. And if I just if you just want to duplicate or clone any color, stop in your great and slider simply click on it, press the old king and click just like that. So I'm just gonna click holding down the bulky and bring this guy to somewhere here And then I want to be precise. So I'm going to make this guy I'm gonna set this guy's location on 30 percent. This guy is going to be 17. And of course, these guys are gonna remain in their positions. So this is the This is my blue color. This is going to be starker caller, and it's going to the this darkest color like that and it kind of looks OK, but we're not too. We are not truly done yet. If we take a look at the original can see that this transition is is kind of like going from from top left to the bottom, right? So what we need to do is win just the angle. And the easiest way to do this is actually I think that it's not with the with the Grady into which, by the way, you construct the president that geeky and then just trying to gas which values going to be OK, I'm simply going to select this guy and hope by holding down the shift key. I'm simply gonna play around with just like that to see which value is the best. And I think I'm gonna go with minus minus 70. This should be fine. Okay, so minus 70. So all we needed Well, we need to do is to select the angle value here in the greater panel. And by pressing down or up here, we can see that we are actually changing the way and the Graydon is flowing like so. Okay, so I think minus 70 is fine. And now the bottom Grady in that one is going to be a trickier, I tell you. So I'm going to simply select it, and I'm going to add the great into it as well. Luckily, we already have. So when we click them, the formerly used to great in this hearing in the great and speaker grating speaker, we already have the previous grading applied. And when you go to our Goto original, you can see that these Grady INTs look a bit different. First of all, there's another grating stop grating toe stop right here in the metal that it's actually this this'll ladder reflection right here. And what's more, what's most important with these guys? It's not just the position of the grating stuffs, but also we need to adjust location off these these sliders as well. And what they do is they make any of the any of the radiant stops b'more distinct or to take more space, make the color more prominent or less prominent. So if we just slide it to the right or to the left, you can see that, actually, this this blue on the right is taken more off the Chevron or is taken last off the Chevron , I think it's gonna take a bit more of the Chevron. I think I'm gonna make it 66% just like that. So let's head onto Let's head onto our the recreation. And I am simply going to click on it. And I'm gonna move this lighter somewhere here, and I'm gonna move this darker slither just just like this, OK? So as we said, the position of the off these of these sliders is important. So this guy should go to 60% like that. And we need to add another greedy int in between these guys, these lighter guys right here. So I'm simply gonna collect anywhere Migrating slither will actually between these lighter blue co lighter blue stops and I'm just going to double click on it. And here in my my color sliders, I am simply going to choose from the from the panel menu ages viewers sense for hue, saturation, brightness, and I'm going to make it just a bit brighter, maybe. Yeah, this should be fine people. It's saturated a bit more and make it just a bit prior. Okay, this should be fine. And again, we need to play around with our angle value. And as you can see, we already are starting to see this reflection coming right here and some on the grating transitions will Looking nicely. Actually, we have this kind of a like a shading to the bottom, and then the reflection that that is going upwards. OK, of course, we are not done yet with these Grady in because the transition here is not not not that cool, actually. And what we can do is we can just thes these sliders. Who right here we can, of course, move these these lighters as well, just like that. And notice that every time we have we play with these guys. Of course, the great into the look and feel of the Gregan actually changes as well. Okay, so I think I'm going to make or move this guy to 25%. So the ads is a bit softer like that, and then move this guy bit to the left, The highlight to the left as well. And this right going to the left to the left as well. Okay, so far, so good. Of course, we could spend the whole afternoon playing with these grade. Ian's changing their position may be moving them, moving them just a bit to the right. Well, I will leave it up to you. If you want to be more precise about the position in off these grading sliders, just go ahead. I'll leave it up to you. I showed you the technique and I wanted to learn that technique. And I don't want you to see me clicking and moving, moving these great and sliders by one pixel to the left or to the right. But what I want to show you right now is to how to create the red slider, the red Chevron. But I think we're going to do that in the next video. 7. Let's add the red chevron: recreating the red Chevron is gonna be much easier because we already have the blue Chevron created. So really, all we need to do is to simply Kelowna to the bottom. And I'm doing that by holding down old and shift keys together. If you're on a Mac, you are holding on the command and shift keys together. I'm going to put it somewhere here. That should be fine. And only need to do is we need to go to the grading panel and simply are at our ingredient great into swatches, creating collars just like that. So these are the brighter ones. These are the darker ones, just like that. And now with the one on the right. So again, the dark one, the rider one we're going to take care of the brightest one in just a second. So now the brightest one, I'm simply gonna click on it. Go Teoh, my color sliders. And for the in the hue, saturation brightness. As you can see on the situation and the brightness values are almost maxed out. So I'm simply gonna decrease the saturation brightness to bring out to bring out some off their some of the reflection maybe a bit more. Maybe 95. I don't know if you concede well, so maybe 93. Okay, this should be fine. Of course, you can play play with the with these values to your liking. The trick here is to is to show you that that you were the purpose of it. Maybe not the tree back to trick you or anyone. The purpose of this is to show the techniques you can use to recreate the logos of the biggest brands in the world and to show you that actually is not that difficult. Now that we have our Chevron's created, all that's left to do to finish our recreation process is to add the front that's here on the top. And as I mentioned before, the font used in this in this logo design is most probably myriad pro and its bold version . So with the title selected, I'm simply going to type in a click and type of the Chevron, just like that would make it bigger and let me make it myriad, bro. And let's make this a bold version just like that. Of course, there's a couple of things we need to do with this fund with this taxed, but I think we are going to do that in the next video 8. Let's create the text: the first thing I'm gonna do it this phone because I think I I will simply you create outlines. So I'm just going to go to type the menu and Jews create our outlines because I want to change my life fund into Inter Pass. I don't think I'm gonna be adjusting or changing the text later because the company name won't change. I think that Okay, so thistle overtaxed. But when we take a look at the original, we can see that, especially with the letter age. And we need we got some things to do. We need Teoh make make it a bit smaller and to create this kind of in kind of on edge right here and what's in what's, of course, most important here. Well, most important, but important is that the age that the letter H is not bigger than the literacy. And if we take a look at the original well, I would recreation of the original. We can see that Well, the original found the original age is actually taller than the letter seat. So what I want to do right now is I want to make sure that the letter H is not taller than the letter C, but all I would all I really want to do. They want to bring this this top part of the letter h A bit down. So the first thing I'm gonna do is I'm gonna bring out my rulers, and I'm gonna do the by pressing the control are or command are if you're on a Mac on my keyboard to bring out the lure of the rulers and it's it's the same as going to the view menu and simply clicking rulers and hide and show rulers right here. Because what I want to do right now is I want to bring out one guide just like that. So it snaps with the top of my literacy just like that. It should be fine. Well, it doesn't snap right now, so let me just just a bit down just like that. And if I know select both of these and top anchor points, I can bring my Brendan this letter age down as well. And what I want to do right now is they want toe click on this anchor top left anchor point and simply bring this guy down just like that This should be fine. And there we go. We got our Let's maybe hide the rulers. Hype the guides and we got the Chevron Chevron tax created. Of course, it needs to be off proper proper color. Somebody's going to sample this color color right here. And there we go. We got the Chevron Chevron local created now. Wasn't that easy. I think it was was pretty pretty easy. You need to know the right techniques on how to create this. But once you know, then once you learn them than the processes is really easy. So in the next lecture, we're going to start to redesign our Chevron logo and we are going to start with them with this, uh, this simplified to the max. Let me put it like that. Simplify, Simplify to the Max Chevron Chevron logo to the left. Okay, so let's do that. And let's do that in the next video 9. Let's redesign the logo: in this video, we're going to start start a redesign with this left version off the Chevron logo. And what I want to dio first is I simply I think I'm simply gonna create a new artwork for my redesign. So with the with the art of war tool selected, I'm simply going to click this new art board button and create my art board down here and I'm gonna I'm gonna create a new layer, and I'm gonna call it redesign just like that And I will borrow my borrow my recreated retreated logo from from our previous document that I'm gonna paste it right here on my on my artwork somewhere Here, This should be fine. And the first thing you know, the first thing I want to do is I want to get rid of the Grady INTs, and that's really easy. We could simply sample the colors from from the top from the top document. But I think I'm just gonna show you a quick way off. Um, getting rid off the greedy int and refilling it or changing it with the proper simple plain fill color. And that is as easy as simply breast in the coma. Komaki like that. And now right now I have them the white feel. So now I'm simply gonna sample the top blue collar. And I'm gonna press the Komaki again to fill to fill the bottom part of my Chevron's Aziz. Well, and I think I'm gonna borrow simply this color just like that. So actually, the keys that correspond Teoh different fills right next to each other on the keyboard. If we're when you press the Komaki, you get the plane, fill color When you press the period key, as we already know, we got the we got the Grady infill. And if we press the slash key, we're going to get rid off the fill whatsoever. So, uh, again, Komaki, Phil period, radiant slash no color at all. So try that for yourself. I'm just gonna I'm just going to sit with the plain, plain blue collar like that. And, of course, what? What I've decided to do is have decided to divined this shape right here. So there is if we go to the outline mode, you can see that there is no path right here that there is no white collar. I I didn't take that shortcut and simply put some white here between these thes parts of the Chevron were actually going to cut it. We're going to create this gap right here. And the easiest way to do this is by simply pressing or well, I'm gonna double click this of bottom part of the Chevron to to make it isolated, because what I want to do right now is I want to just copy this top path right here. So I will select with the direct selection tool copy and paste it in front. And as you can see, I only have this line right here, right? So I only copy this line just like that. So let me get back a few times, so it's it's what it needs to be. So what I want to do right now is I simply want to just and put it or push it to the top. Maybe somewhere here, the higher this this path goes, the bigger the gap is going to be. So I'll leave it up to you. How big the gap you want. I think I'm just gonna be fine with with something like that. Okay, so with my path still selected. I am going to add to my selection the left part of the Chevron. And I'm going to do that by holding down the shift key and clicking on this left part in the Pathfinder tool. I am going to go with Divide just like that. And now the result of this transformation is, ah, group like that. So if I just select the bottom power path with that with the direct selection tool, I can communicate it with with it directly, so I can simply delete it. And just like that, I got them. I got the I got the gap created just like that. So again, I'm going to double click on the red Chevron selected with select the top of path with a direct selection tool copy and paste it in front. Move it just a bit up. Just like that, you can see that this path is in line with our bottom edge of the this right blue chevron. I'm going to an exit. The three isolation amount, and I'm gonna shift. I'm gonna add to this election my left part of the Chevron divide and with the direct selection told, Select the bottom power path. Make sure that things bottom parties only selected and delete it just like that. And with these few simple steps, always wake created or redesigned the Chevron logo. And of course, we redesigned it according to them, to the minimalism trend that is the most prominent in logo designs today. And, of course, if we want to go with the material design material design redesigned right here, all you really need to do is meats to let me just let me just a couple of times now that we have our bottom path created to right here. So this is the step where we were simply select the top path right here, based in front and then divide with the Pathfinder tool. So now we can communicate with this with this bottom power part right here, and I don't want it deleted. I think I'm simply we could sample some cholera, borrows and color from the from the Material Design Handbook on They have some pretty nice colors there, but really only oh, I want to do right here is I just want to maybe make it a bit less bright. Maybe even I want to make a darker Yeah, that's what I want to die. Simply make a darker and 30% should do it. And just like that, I've created this this material design kind of kind of a, um shading shading effect. So again, I'm simply going to double click on this bottom bottom part path selected the top path with them. The red selection tool copy pasted in front. Move it just a bit up just like that. Divide these guys to the left and again select this bottom path and make this guy lighter as well. All the way to 30. Yeah, let's make it 33%. And there we go. This is how we can create so we can redesign the Chevron logo. So we got him material design version and we got the minimalism or minimal to the max kind of version, just like which one looks better. It's Well, you can decide. I think that Then the left one looks better because it's simpler on and yeah, that's how you That's how we did it. So I think it's high time we moved. Teoh moved onto of the next video. And if you're interested, keep watching 10. Let's start the project: in this project, we're going to recreate and redesign this logo on the company that has this logo is called M R, and it's a Dubai based property developer. It's not on the Fortune 500 list, but it is on the global 2000 list. So it's one of the biggest companies in the world, and lately this company, its logo, has seen some redesign, and they are using a more simplified version of their previous logo. And you can see the found here has been stripped off some Sarah ifs. But I think that this for design is so not enough it could use. Ah, really, really cool lifted. And we are gonna You're gonna redesign it first. Of course, we are going to recreate this logo and then we're going to redesign and eso it looks something like this. So we are going Teoh, remember, retain the race aspect. But I thought that since said this company prize itself to be from the United Emirates, United Arab Emirates, I thought that we could that I could use that I could use the colors of the of the United Arab Emirates flag. So this red and this black color, but also for the fund. I thought that we could go for this Google fund called Alice, as it not only has this kind of an and thanks to these funky serves a bit of an Arab character, it also looks quite modern. Besides, the font used in this original local design is called First Code Raanta and Paid Fund. So for the educational purposes, I think we should go something with a free fund, or at least easily available formed eso. I've decided to go with the freak wiggle fund that is called Alice, and of course I've attached it to them to the lecture. Okay, so let's let's take a quick look what we are actually going to do to be doing here. First, we're going to create these. Raise these 12345 race and we are not going to create them with the polygon tool. Then we are going to create these lines. These I don't know. I think there are waves or something like that. And of course we're going to add colors and we're going to end the text to the bottom and for the redesign, we're going to retain the race, but we're going to change the colors and Andre were going to change the front, as we just just mentioned. So without further do, let's actually start designing or recreating and then redesign redesigning this this logo. But let's start doing that in the next video. 11. Let's start the recreation process: this thing I want to do with this with this M R logo is to create the rays that are the most important part of the lug lie. Belief apart from the from the company name, of course. So what I think I will do first is I will just copy this this original little go and I'm going to create a new layer, and I'm gonna call it design just because I'm gonna base the this logo here in this later. And what I want to do is say, when I double click on the layer I've just created I want to check this option. Different images to 50%. So now the capacity of this off this logo that it still is just 100%. But as you can see, it kind of looks like it's ah, around 50% on the 50% off pay core or transparent, if you will. What? Of course I want to do is I will lock this. Ah, this object on this image. So I'm gonna go toe object locks election. I usually go with control or command to just like that. And as I said, I want to start with creating the race. And I'm not going to use the polygon tool that which is assuming a bit, maybe just like that. I am, however, going to use the rectangle tool. So I'm gonna grab it right here, and I'm going to create starting summer here. I'm just going to create a simple a simple rectangle. Just like that. I will go in tow, going to adjust it in a second until it kind of looks something like this. Maybe I'm gonna make it just a big, bigger just like that. And as I said, I need to have a triangle, right? So instead, off using the polygon to of created rectangle. And what I want to do right now is I want Teoh converted Teoh into a triangle. And this time I'm not gonna add anchor points or anything like that, and I'm gonna work with what I have. And what I want to do right now is I want to remove the stop path right here. That's I'm just gonna selected with the direct selection tool and delete it, and I want to join these two points. But if I just joined them, I'm gonna have my rectum Gold back again. So that's not what I want to do. I'm gonna undo that change. And with these guys selected, I'm simply gonna go. I'm simply gonna hit the control or command old or option on a Mac plus shift blasted J two not only join these guys, but also joined them in half way between them. And it's the same as going to the object menu path. Now let me just do that object. It's good object path and average. And here we got Teoh three options to choose from and what this option does it joins the joints points and actually calculates the distance between them to join them in the middle in the middle between them, so to speak. I know it sounds kind of complicated, and this actually is a bit complicated. So for the purpose of this video, let's just let's just choose both click, OK? And that's the same as just, um here in control, old and shift and J at the same time. So let me do that again. Maybe so I have a try. I have a rectangle I'm going to with the direct selection to remove the top path and press control. Old shift. Jay, I need to be sure that only these top points are selected. Controlled shift J just like that to create a try and go and just like that, maybe let it let it just it just a bit. That should be fine. Then maybe let's make put it a bit up just like that. Okay, so right now what I need to do is I need to rotate these guys. I mean, I need to have copies off them, and I need to rotate them. Right. So, uh, in this case, instead of figuring out the right angled to transform all these rates, all these race I'm going to go the easy way. So with the with the rotate too active and I and we can activated by President the R key on the keyboard, I am simply going to click somewhere down here and move my move, my ray, to left. This should be fine. And of course, I want a copy of its I. I'll add toe transformation out at the the bulky or option if you're on a Mac and simply let go just like that. And if I now just hit control D. I'm going to repeat the last transformation and create array just like that. So let me do that again. That we just back out a few times and I got this race elected. I'm going to activate the rotator. So click somewhere down here and we hold it down. The al Turkey, I am going to rotate and clone or duplicate. Maybe maybe one more time duplicated my Mireille to the left just like that. So there is one like that and the other one just like that. What I want to do right now is I wanna reflect and copy the set off race to the right. So what I will do right now is I'm gonna just select both these guys just like that. Maybe this guy as well and I'm gonna activate the reflected by pressing the okey And I will reflect this guy in accordance to or in a reference, to the center point of this medal array just like that. And I don't want to hit. I don't hit. Okay? I want to hit copy. Just like so. And of course, the result of this transformation is another set of race that is reflected to the right. But we have one more. Right? That is right here. And I don't need this guy, so I'm simply gonna delete it. Okay. So far, So good way we would do next is we would, um, unite all these race together and then create these lines down here. But that's something we're going to do in the next video. 12. Let's meet the Width Tool: in this video. We're going to continue creating our race, and we are, and these waves down here as well. So as I mentioned in the previous video, what I want to do right now is I want to unite all these guys together. So in the Pathfinder tool, that's what I'm gonna choose. I'm gonna choose, Unite, just like that, now that we have the race created, or at least this part off the race or this whole section right here. Well, we need to do right now is we need to recreate these waves down here. What I will recreate it with is this time the pentacle. So I'm just gonna select it from the tools panel and click and drag summer here to the bottom to create this kind of a spine s. So when I click and drag, I am dragging out the direction handles and I am clicks. I'm gonna click somewhere here, Let me just, you know, with the Pantelis, it's ah, it's hidden them as quite a quite a lot of time. So it will take take some time to readjust thes handles, So I'm just gonna I'm just gonna quickly do it like that. And what I want to do right now is I do is I want to go to the tool that is called the With Tool and it sits right here in the tool spell. And it has a very, very handy short cut off shift plus W. And the way it works is when I click on an anchor point and start dragging. You can see that I'm making my wave thicker, just like that may be, but more. And of course, we can do the same with our right right anchor point, just like just like so made. The does should be fine, and it's still an edible path. So if I just click on this anchor point, I'm going to maybe bring it a bit down. And if I click this handle, I'm going to bring it a bit up just like that, and with the with to weaken still added to with off the off the path. So if I just click on an anchor point right here, I'm going to make it. Why? They're just like that. And of course, again, we could spend the whole afternoon trying to get this right, trying to get the the exact with off this off this line. But I think I am going to leave it for you. If you want to play with that, be my guest. I wanted to show you how to how to create this path by using the with tool. What I want to do right now is they want to create this right wave right here. And that's as easy as simply reflecting and copying this guy to the right. So I'm just gonna go. I'm gonna hit him the okay on the keyboard and then enter to Rue invoked this reflect tool dialog box. And I'm simply gonna hit copy just like that. I'm gonna move it to the right and reflected again. But this time I will reflected her reflected horizontally and a click. OK, and now it's just a matter of rotating this guy a bit and maybe changing its size just just a bit. Maybe to summer he enters should be fine. And with the direct selection, till I'm gonna grab the right edge of my my wife and simply nodded a bit down just like that. Okay. Before we finish this whole shape off, there's one thing you need to remember. And that, then, is that these are old strokes that have an effect apply to it and what we want to do. What we want to achieve eventually is to create. This is to unite these guys with the race. And to do that, we need to, um, convert thes thes stroked paths and into into regular pass with fills. And that's as easy as going to the object menu and clicking, expand, appearance just like that. And now what we can do is we can unite all these guys into one shape. But before that, we can see that we have this This'll It'll triangle right here. This part of array that is Well, actually, we don't We don't want this guy. We don't need it. So with the all these shapes selected in the Pathfinder tool, I am going again. They choose their divide function just like that. And with the direct selection tool, I am going to select this path and simply hit delete just like that. And what I can do right now is I can say is I can see that this is a group, but I think that it will be safe for us, but simply hit the Unite key and as well to create thes race shape like that. So, really, all that's left to do to finish this logo is toe at the base of it and add the 13. Let's add the text: in this video, we're going to create the base of our logo, and then we're going Teoh, add the text to the bottom. And of course, we're going to finish finish it all off with the colors. So the first thing I'm gonna do is I'm gonna create a base using the rectangle tool I'm going to create simple square, just like so, just like that. And of course, I'm gonna give it to some other color. Maybe this blue collar and what I want to do right now is I want to move this rectangle down well below my race. Eso I can now cut these race from my from my background for my from my base of the local. So I'm going to select both these guys and in the Pathfinder tool. I'm going to go with the minus front command to have this some This, uh what this effect finished. Now, the result of this transformation is a group, as we can see right here, and I think it will on group these guys. So I'm gonna go with control shift g just like that. And now I will group this top part, so I'm going to select all these guys and group them. And in the original they are Well, the color they have is this yellow color like that. And the blue, of course, remains the same. So let me just let me just move this to the right. Let me unlock this this original logo. And as you can see, we almost we have almost recreated this'll ago. The last thing to do here is to create the text, and the phone I chose for this design is a free Google fund and that have attached to this to this lecture. And it's called Alice. And so I'm simply gonna click somewhere here and type the name of the company, and I'm going to make it significantly bigger. Since this phone come comes on Lee and in the regular in regular size that it doesn't have its bold version, we are going to have to make it a bit bolder. But before that, let's let's take care of the off the track and and the current. And if you don't know what tracking and Kernen is just to take a look at my illustrator fundamentals course and where I explained the track and current and letting in greater detail. Now what? I will simply do it just with the type to click between letter and the Larrys A and by pressing down the old or option on a Mackey and just press the right arrow key just like that, to move it a bit to the right and I can see that the letter M is a bit far too far away from the M. And just like that, we got them. We got the letters letters created. But as I said, I think that this phone should be a bit bolder. So first I'm going to go. I'm gonna move my font to to the right to somewhere here just like that. I'm think I'm gonna make it white so you can see it all better. Just like that. Okay. And the function that I was talking about is called off SAT path. So I'm gonna select my fund, go to the appearance panel, I'm going to choose this effect symbol. I'm gonna add the new effect, and I'm gonna go path offset path. And when I hit preview, you can see that we got a really bold version off our front and that's that what we want. I'm gonna go all the way down to one. And with illustrator, you can even and go. You can even go lower than one pixel. You can split the pixel if you want, or even And this is a nice little trick when you are change now, will any value actually in any dialogue box? If you hold down the control key or command on the Mac and then press the upward down a road, you can change the size in 1/10 increment. And I think I'm gonna go with just half pixel just like that and yeah, I think we are done. We can now create the outlines. So I'm gonna go type, create outlines just like that on a museum out And there we go. We got our logo created. Of course we consume. We could align all these guys as well. So this is a group. This is a group. This is another group, so we'll just aligned them proper league. So they are all in center and there we go regard our M R logo recreated 14. Let's start redesigning the logo: now that we got the local recreated, I think it's high time we redesigned it. And as you can see, it's got Teoh. We'll always simplified again, but I've also switched the colors. I've decided to go with the red and black because and the white as well, because these are almost all the colors of the United Arab Emirates flak. And since the company prize itself to be from Dubai, I thought it would be great idea. Teoh kind of implement that pride into the into the local. So as you can see, right them Theory Journal was based on a square, and my design is based on a rectangle, because I think that since the company is a developer, I mean a property developer, it would be a good idea to create A to create the logo based on a shape that resembles of building a bit more. Plus the race in combination with the rectangular shape of the logo show that represent the movement. Will the up movement because to buy has one of the tallest buildings in the world. So this kind of a base, this kind of a shape idea, I think, emphasizes the fact will the height of the buildings that are being built by the company in the in the bike. And of course, we got the same front as we used before. But this time is well, this time is smaller, much smaller. And I think that the additional of the white space here, especially to the left and the right, let's let's the text the company of the name the same time breathe a little bit on and be a bit more. Maybe it's a paradox, since it's smaller, but to be a bit more prominent at the same time, a bit more illegible. Okay, so the first thing, of course I'm gonna do is I'm gonna create another art board for myself to work on. So again, with the with the art aboard toll, I'm simply going to create an arbor here in the bottom and create another layer that I'm gonna called and them are just like that. And this time I am not going to start with the race. But I'm going to start with the base. And as I said I wanted to be, I wanted to be a wreck. Um, not not a square, but but a rectangle, but that's going to be the final effect. I am going to start with the rectangle and I'm gonna make it with square. And I think I'm gonna make it to 70 by 2 70 just like that. And now I want to add this bottom bottom rectangle that will hold the company name. And what I will do is I will copy and paste in front this thing, this car just like that. So I so I did it by pressing control C and control half. So now I have. Now I have two squares just like that at what I will do right now is I will go to object menu path. I'm gonna go split into grid and hit the preview. And what I want to do here is I want to add rows. So as you can see, I'm split in my my, uh, square into rectangles and I will add a bit more Ghadir to it. Third should be fine. And I'm going to get rid of these square, these rectangles and I'm going to move this guy down just like that. That's fine. And I think I will move because as we can check with the original. We got this little gap right here. That kind of acts like another Another, Ray. So I am going to move it then. And so, with the move tool, I am going to move it. Let's check the cover of value, which is 30 pixels. That might be a bit too much. So let's check 20 pixels. Yeah, that should be fine. Okay, We got our base, our base created. So the next thing to do is to add the rates and then at the at the text later. But I think we're going to start to doing that in the next video. So if you're interested, keep watching. 15. Let's create the rays: in visitor. We are going to create these the's big race right here. And we are going to do that the same way we did with the original. So I will start with the creating a simple rectangle. And one thing to remember here, the bigger this rectangle is the rays are gonna be be bigger as well. And this part and this in junction or this things part of the race, this kind of kind of a son shape, I guess we'll be bigger will be simply bigger. So if you wanna, if you want this part to be bigger than just to make the race bigger And if you want it to be smaller, just make of the race or, ah, the initial rectangle of smaller. So make sure that all these guys align nicely to the center just like that. And again, I am going to delete this top path with the direct selection tool. I mean, I will select it with the direct selection tool and then deleted and again and go with the old control shift and jade to join average. Just like so. And if I make this rector will triangle right now, White you can see what our initial Ray would look like. And to tell you the true of when I was redesigning this this logo, I thought that I would actually leave it like that and let me tell you why. Well, first of all, it's Ah, it's looking really cool because it's really simple, and it's got to like just two colors and a second of all, which is more important to me. This triangle right now looks like kind of a spike on aspire. And if you take a look at ah, Dubai's Panorama, you can see lots of toll and really futuristic buildings, and many of them have spikes and spires. And since the company we are redesigning the local for is dealing with the property and property development, I think that it would. It will really, really look great. All we would have to do right is Teoh. I mean, we would add the company name to the bottom and there we go and they would look really, really cool. But we're going to create the race as well. We are going to follow this pattern. Let's in the in the original logo and the pattern that I came up with for this redesign. So I'm simply going to select this guy and rotate it again. Eso I think I will go with the I'm goingto I'm going toe under 3 60 divided by 15. Or maybe 16 just like that. But I'm gonna hit copy. And I'm gonna copy this two more times, just like and already we can see that bigger or wider triangles are making our or some bigger and at the same time, because if you take a look at this little triangle right here, it's smaller than this one. It's not, not by much, but it is so remember that the wider the triangle dough either the the initial right and the bigger the sun or bigger than the final effect will be. So again, with these race selected, I am going to clone them or reflecting a condom at the same time to the right. So the reflect toe active and going to all to click on the center of this middle ray like that and simply hit copy. Now all these guys there is one. There will be 11 on the right that I don't need. So with all these guys select it. Let me select all of them and I will group them right now. What I want to do is I want Teoh subtract them from from the bottom from them from the base . So I will add that to the selection. And in the Pathfinder tool, I'm going to quit Ma click minus front, just like that. And we already have the main shape created. And really all that's left to do is to add the colors and at the font to the bottom. But I think we'll do that in the next video. 16. Let's add the colors and text: in this video, we are going to add colors. So we're going to add this red color to our background for the race and we are going to add the text to the bottom. So the first thing I'm gonna do is I'm going to select this top part and for select the proper color swatch from my swatches panel and activate the title by either pressing the T key on the keyboard. If you want to work like a real Perot, so just press the tiki on the keyboard. This I'm not going to be that real pros. I'm just going to click it here in the tools panel and click somewhere here and type in and mark just the name of the company. Of course I'm gonna make it bigger, and I'm gonna change the front two allies as we already know. Just like that. Make it white. Just like that. Maybe make it Ah, smaller. Just so it corresponds with the original. Better with the original redesign better let me just zoom in a bit there. And this time let me just create outlines right now. So I'm gonna go to type, create outlines. We could always use shift control plus O ah, shortcut and ah again, I'm going to add in a bit of an offset. I'm gonna offset the path a bit. So from the from the appearance panel, I'm gonna go with this, affect Spartan, go to path and go to Officer Bath. And again, I'm just going to go with for 0.5. Just had some some boldness to play front like that. And this time you find one to take care of the proper spacing between letters, and we already can see that. I mean, we already change the text, all the fonts to outline, so it's no longer eligible text, but it's a simple paths. And since it's a group, we need to first ungroomed all these guys, I'm gonna go control shift plus g just like that. And what I want to do right now is I want Teoh align these guys in relation to the key object, which is this e which I'm gonna make this eat ladder and then in the align panel, you can see that I got this option. Distribute spacing available to me, and I want to distribute them horizontally and let's check the amount Let's see. Three pixels. Yeah, three pixels should be fine. So again, if you want to align or distribute some objects in relation to some object to another object, you need to select all the objects and then select a click on it again. A. So as you can see, it kind of looks like it. Like Illustrator added, an extra amount off. Anchor points to it. So now is the anchor point. And in the align panel you can set the value of the distribute spacing options. So we set it to three pixels. We could set for pixels and then collect this horizontal distribute. And then we have all of our fund aligned properly and distributed properly, opening to direct ties to group these guys and then selected all and aligned them to the center. Just like that. Well, we could also be sure that our amount of our company name and is properly aligned in relation to its background by following the same technique as we did with distributing the letters of the company name. So I'm going to select both these guys and again click, but that shift click click on the background again and now my the company name will will be aligned in relation to the background. And I wanted to be exactly in the middle of my bedroom. So let me do it again. So all these guys are selected. Both these guys, I'm going to click on the background again and click vertical Align Center to make sure that the company name is in the middle the of its of its background. So there you go. We got this local redesigned. So we went from this this logo. We went to this logo right here, and I think it looks better. I think it represents represents the country that this company from a bit more as it uses the colors of the flag. Um of the end of Arab Emirates flag. The design is simplified. It breathes better to my taste at least. And I think it simply looks nice. Eso Yeah, I hope you like this design on. Did you are ready for some more cause there are still some redesigns and designs or recreations to come. So stay tuned 17. Let's start the project: in this project, we're going to recreate a redesign, a local for a company called Synnex Corporation, and it's a company and whose business is business services. But we are going to focus more on the logo itself. And to tell you the truth, the more I focus on the logo, the more problems I see with it. Well, first of all, I don't understand the fund. Chung's here. I mean, I don't know why. To Sarah funked it just is but to take a look at what's going on with this corporation text . I think it's the same fund, but it was brutally, really distorted. And this is simple to the left. To tell you the truth, it's simply a circle that was treated with a Pathfinder and then treated with a distort and transform technique. So it's really not difficult to retreat, but it's laborious. I'm gonna try to make it as short as possible, so forgive me if from time to time I don't I don't bore you with getting the right dimensions or getting the right angle values and things like that because it really want to show you that technique the way that it was really created, but we are going to have a lot more fun with the redesign process and we are going to redesign it to make it look like this. So we're going to dio really a lot of stuff. First of all, we're going to change the found. We are going to make it a serif and we are going to make it really, really, really bold. And the corporation text is gonna have proper tracking and no distortion. And for the for the symbol right here I thought that I should, since it's merely a redesign, although it's pretty heavy that I should respect the fact that this logo in its in its original version is using some sort of a room service, circular form and some wavy elements right here. So this is what we're going to do. We're going to create a circle, and yet it kind of looks it's, ah, material design. Well, I like material design. If you don't know that already, and we are going to play well, have some fun with some nice distortion distortion effects as well. So let me quickly break down what we are going to do with this logo before we actually start doing it. So first of all, we're going to take care of this off this symbol, the and the things we're going to do is we're going to create circles, then use the Pathfinder and use them and the transform effect. And you will see how much fun you can actually have with this with this technique. But of course we are going, Teoh, we're going to recreate this symbol, not go like, really, really crazy. Although I think this this symbol here is a bit crazy to tell you the truth. And then we're going Teoh, we're going to create the front bottom. I really don't want to distort it. In a way, Was this sort of here in the bottom? But I think for the re creation process, we're going to do that as well. Yeah, I guess it will be a way to show you what not to do rather than what to do. Okay, So let's start. Let's start with the re creation process. And let's do that in the next video 18. Let's start the recreation process: Of course, before we start the recreation process that we need some room to work with, right? So I'm going to create a new artwork, just like we usually do. So with er war till I'm simply going to click the create art board an option in the control panel and click somewhere here to create a new artwork. And of course, one agreed a new layer for this hardboard, some in their late layers. But this panel I'm just gonna quick click holding down the old or option key on the Mac. They create new layer, and I come and I'm simply gonna name it design just like that. So, as I said before, re creating this kind of a fact it takes, it's quite laborious. It takes a lot off tweaking and finding the right dimensions of a circle. And let me tell you what I mean. So first we are going to start with the initializing or making active the ellipse told some simply gonna press the l key on the keyboard. And maybe I don't want war you with the with finding the right circle dimension. So let me just simply try to find it. Try to find the right dimensions right here. So So it's it's weight quicker. So let me just quickly create a circle that corresponds to the size of this circle. Right here. I played This should be fine again. This is not about finding exactly the same the same dimensions of the circles, rather about the technique that I want to show you. So let me make it. Let me just make it different colors. So you concede better. So this is our first circle. And what we really need to do right now is to add another circle that would cap the cut a hole on. I would go. That'll go right here. So we really need to do is to simply copy and face in front of the circle that we just created and let me make get a different color. Might be on, maybe read just like that. And all we need to do is to just make it smaller, something like that, and then just nodded a bit to the right and the last part actually to do Let me just copied the circus. I'm gonna need it. I'm gonna need it later. The last thing to do is to simply will almost the house thing to do. Maybe first, let me let me show you what you make it make these circles look a bit more distinct. So I'm gonna simply fill them with a color instead of just a instead of just a stroke. So what we need to do is we need to in the Pathfinder tour, simply cut a hole just like that. And the last thing to do here is to create this kind of in this kind of a flat edge is that can add to be flat. This part right here. We need to cut kind of content this in crescent into two halves. So that's what I'm going to do. I'm going to simply create a line that would go something like that. This should be fine. And again in the Pathfinder tool. This I'm gonna hit the divide function just like that on group all these guys and simply get rid off this one just like that so we can see that this is just maybe three. Maybe it took me three or four steps to recreate this kind of a this kind of a sushi. So no I will actually move to my proper layer and to my proper artwork. I don't want to be working on just like I'm simply gonna pace that somewhere here, just like that. And maybe I'll just borrow the color, All right? That really what we need to do right now is to simply create another circle, but make it just a bit smaller. Maybe like so readjusted properly, maybe just a bit bigger, but not too much. That should be fine. And what we need to do now is we need to simply cologne this guy to the right Just like that. Some holding down the old and the shift keys together. And what we what we got a direct now is to simply miners use the function minus front. So cut it just like that, You know, it's really all all it takes. Tiu, recreate this thing kind of a shape. And what we need to do right now is we need Teoh, a Zaken see in the original, simply cloning to the right and rotated at the same time. And that's as easy a simply going to the effect menu distorting, transform and transform. Just like that and I did my math before, so I know that we need to send on the value the angle value to minus 45 degrees off course . We need two copies just like that. And all you really need to do is to move these guys to the right and a bit vertically, just like that. That's what it is. Really? Really? Is that simple? That that's all it takes to recreate this thing is kind of a this kind of thing. Kind of an effect. So definitely have fun with this function. See what it what it can do for you and we're going to finish this design, Otis this recreation with adding at the front, and I guess the tagline on and we will do that in the next video. 19. Let's add the text: the phone to used in this logo design is called No fret. But to tell you the truth, you could go for almost any serif font because there's nothing too much distinct about this fund. And this front is free, and I have attached it to the lecture. Should you want work along with me. So we're going to simply type in the word cynics and then corporation give it, sometimes tracking and distorted. I'm afraid we're going to have to distort. That's a bad practice. But if that's what we have to do to recreate it, let's let let's sacrifice our dignity of it. Okay, so let me just move this guy a bit to the left and simply with the title selected, I'm simply gonna click somewhere here and type in the name of the name of the company that make it significantly bigger and type and no fret just like that. Maybe make it bit bigger. Let me check with the original. It's something like that. So let me just make it a bit smaller. Maybe a bit a bit bigger. Yeah, that should be fine. That should be fine. And you are going to change just a bit, but, you know, you know, you know, you know what we want to achieve in this Ah, with this recreation. So of course I'm going to have to make it the right color. And now let's take care of the of the corporation text. So we could We could simply clone this guy down by holding down the shift and the altar option for Mackey's together just like that and let me make it smaller. And right now I'm just holding down the control. Recommended a Mac plus shift plus shift, plus the less than symbol. That's about the common key. To make it smaller and to make it smaller. Significantly, just like that. Let me put it up. And what I will do right now is I will increase the tracking. So I'm gonna make the spaces between letters white Significant. Maybe. Let's let's go. That's gonna be too much. Maybe not. Yeah, but we need to change the changed or don't we should be core corporation, and the tracking is going to be significantly smaller right now, so let's see what we were going to actually need. Let's go with 1000 even less than that 8 90 should be fine and the last thing to do, But maybe not the last in the two before, before we distorted before it damaged the fund. A Zaken seeing the original this fund is a bit bolder, right? So again, what we could do is we could simply go to the appearance panel at the effect called Offset Path just like that, and let me sell much. It's gonna need Let's coaches just wanna maybe even less than that, maybe even half a pixel. That should be fine. And the last thing to do here is, of course, to distorted a bit. So I am just gonna need Teoh make it a bit, but smaller just like that. And as you can see, the corporation takes right here, looks pretty much the same. Maybe let's decrease the track in just a bit and move to the right. That should be fine. And before we move on to the redesign part, let me just give you one word of warning. Since this is a live effect, should you change your mind? I want to make it to and want to make this a symbol bigger or smaller. If you just go bigger. You can see that we are affecting the life effect applied to our first crescent. So if you need Teoh, make it smaller or make it bigger, you need to remember to expand this appearance. So to make it to make three paths, three crescents out of this one crescent. And that's as easy as going to the object menu and clicking, expand appearance. And now if we make it bigger, you can see that we are retaining all them off the spaces and the angle values a swell. So if you want to make it bigger, just just make it bigger, bigger like that. Okay, so we got that. We got the Synnex Corporation local recreated. And now we are going to have some really, really, really fun where? The redesign part that we can see right here. So if that's something you're interested, Well, then just keep watching 20. Let's start redesigning the logo: in this video, we are going to have a lot of fun worth recreating our design in the cynics logo and creating on especially this sphere to the left. And to tell you the truth may look complicated, but it's really easy. And everyone who sees who I show this technique to is usually all and can t believe how easy it is to create an effect like this one. And we are not going to. I mean, we are going to simply you need and modest, humble triangle rectangle and, of course, a circle to recreate this this kind of an effect. But before we dive into that, let's create a new artwork and you layer just less. We usually do so with the airport tool. I'm simply going to click, create the new artwork and click and created down here. And I'm going to create a new layer that I'm gonna call design just like that. Okay, so as I mentioned before, I'm second to go. I'm simply going to need a triangle and a rectangle and let me zoom in a bit. Some first. I'm going to create a triangle, and I'm going to create it with Iraq tangle because I want to create a kind of a special triangle s. So first, I'm going to create a rectangle just like that. And I'm going to select with the direct selection, told this bottom left anchor point and simply remove it with the remove selected anchor points function in the control panel. So I'm just simply going to click it. And what I need to do right now is a need to create a M rectangle out of this. Try and go. But not just a rectangle. It needs to be skewed a bit, just as we can see in the original. Well, no, we can get sitting original, but you got to trust me on this one. Maybe I'll just show you what I mean, instead of just talking what I mean. Okay, So what we need to do is we need to reflect this triangle, and I'm going to reflect it in relation to this anchor point. So make sure that the whole triangle is selected. Then activate the reflected by present the okey and with the bulky or option on the Mac. I'm gonna click on this anchor point and I want to reflect it horizontally and, of course, on a hit Copy. Now what I want to do is only reflect it again. That is gonna be a lot of reflecting right here, guys. I'm gonna reflect it again. But this time I'm going to reflect it. Vertical E just like that. And I'm gonna move it up to somewhere here. This will be fine. And this triangle I need to reflect again by this in relation to this anchor point. I'm gonna do that horizontally. This time and again, I'm gonna hit copy, and I'm going to reflect this guy vertically. And I'm not gonna hit copy. I'm simply gonna hit okay, just like that. So the purpose of this whole transformation marathon was to create a rectangle, but that it's kind of leaning to the right, I guess. Kind of a skewed rectangle. And I didn't want to create a rectangle on Ben. Try to skewered by maybe bringing down these two anchor points because I want to be sure that these lines are exactly parallel what I need to do. However, however right now is I need to combine these two triangles so they create so they create a rectangle together, and we could do that with the with the Pathfinder told. But I'm going to show you a different technique to do that. Maybe you will like it better. So what you need to do really to unite or subtract, actually, paths from each other All you need to do to do to unite paths, you need to select the path you want to unite. And you can do that with the shape older tool that you can access by pressing the shift em on your keyboard. And as you can see, this is this guy right here and the way it works. You simply need to click on the path that you need to add and drag, just like so you can see the line that is appearing right here. And that's really all you need to do. Illustrator is creating one united path out of this out of these two triangles. Okay, In the next video, we're going to continue building our our effect. So if you're interested in that, just keep watching 21. Let's learn the Envelope Distort effect: in this video, we're going to continue creating Thean develop, distort a fact. But first, before we do that, there's one thing that we need to do. When we take a look at the original, we can see that we have some kind of a shade in going on right here. Right. So the way we conducive that is we could simply double click on the triangle. And with the direct selection toe, I'm going to copy. Well, first, I'm going to select this thing's bottom path right here. I'm going to copy it into my clipboard, and I'm gonna pace that in back. So I'm gonna press control, be just like that. And I am going to give it a nice, nice stroke instead of Phil. I'm gonna make it black and make it a bit thicker. Three points should be enough. It shouldn't be too big, You know, we don't want to go too crazy with this, and I'm gonna do the same with our rectangle. So again, with the direct selection told, I'm going to select the bottom path. I'm going to copy it and paste it in back by pressing the controller Commander Maybe and then I'm gonna give it some nice some nice stroke and make it thicker, just like that. Don't worry that it's going out off. That actually looks like it's bigger than just Ament. That's bigger than our on our shape right here if you want. If you want, you can make it. You can make its, um well, smaller if you want. But I think that we quicken stick with the three three points value for the stroke, and we're going to take care of it just a bit later, so don't worry about it. But we need to do right now is we need to cologne this rectangle down. So I'm gonna do it just like that. I'm gonna do it one more time. So I'm simply gonna breast control de or command D on the Mac, just like just like that, too Toe clone To duplicate the last transformation. And the last thing to do here is to cologne this top triangle so we can finish the effect. So I'm gonna bring it down here, and I'm gonna reflect it again. Just like that, this time, horizontally and move it up to somewhere here. This should be fine. So Now we have all our main shapes created. Let me just make them maybe a bit smaller, just like that. And now all we need is to give them the right color. So let me just borrow this lighter color just like that. And now it's gonna beat this. It's darker color. And then the lighter again, the darker remains like that. And then liar goes to the bottom. Okay, so far, so good. Now that we have these shapes selected, all we need to do right now is to simply create on the lips. It doesn't have to be bigger than this. Then this This rectangle like as all hell, these elements are forming the rectangle. So now that I have a another heaven ellipse, just like I am going to copied into my clipboard And this the part where the magic happens so drums have dropped. Drumroll, please. I'm going to select all these guys and I'm going to go to the object envelope, distort, and I'm gonna choose make worth top object just like that. And as you can see, we created I mean, our our rectangle simply got distorted style. Except that worked into our top object, which was a circle in this case. But as soon as we can see these are these Ah, the shading is actually maybe just a bit too big. So if you want to go with something smaller, just be my guess. They might be my guest. But what we definitely can do right now is you can take care off these two on unnecessary lines right here. So remember that we have our remember that we have our circle carpet into my clip births are all we need to do right now is simply based back in front and make it significantly smaller to something like that. Maybe that's a bit Dubai. Too much to something like so. And if I select all these guys, I can still make it a clipping mask to have something like like this happening. And all I need to do right now is to simply select these guys and rotate them, rotate him, do the left a bit. So we have s So we have this fear created. So the thing to remember here is that we is that for the shading effect, we need to tweak the stroke value and that we need to have the object that we are distorting with on top. So the circling is to be well, it doesn't need to be created as last, but it needs to be on top off the other of our rectangles and are triangles in this in this scenario. So now that we have our spirit created, all we need to do is to create the font right now. And so that's where we gonna do. But we're going to do that in the next video. 22. Let's add the text: in this video, we are going to finish our redesign by creating the word cynics and the tagline corporation . So what I'm gonna do is I'm simply gonna grab the type tool and simply click somewhere here , type in the word Synnex I'm gonna make it significantly. I'm gonna make it. Come on. I want to make you bigger. Might want to make it bigger just like that. And the phone that I used for this for design is called Poppins. And it's a free Google found like so And it's a really, really good fun realize fund. The reason why I chose this fund is that it has really nice s and the letters in this thesis fund and the characters themselves are really like they stand out, they look powerful. They are big and bold, and they are saying we are good and we are proud of it. So this is why it chose this fund. Let me make it a proper color just like that. And now I'm gonna I'm gonna clothe them, calmed them down just like that type in Corporal Ray Shem, Just like so. And of course, I am gonna make them significantly smaller This should be fun. And I want I don't want to make a boat. I want to make it to regular, just like so he put it somewhere here. And then I'm gonna increase the tracking value quite a lot. Let's see, 600 even more than that. 800 even more than that. Okay, so there we go. We got the logo redesign. Of course, before you would submit it to decline for preview, we would take care. May be of some off some coronations here. Maybe tweak the tracking a bit again. Maybe took care of the shading effects right here. But the purpose of this redesigned the purpose of this video was to show you how easy it is to achieve certain effects with illustrator, if you know the right techniques. So at first glance, this thing's technique, this fact looks like it's ah, looks like it's really difficult to achieve. You might wanna think that maybe I should do some three D stuff with the with the sphere. Or maybe I should grab the pan tool and start clicking and click like, three nights in a row. And all you really need to do is simple the simplest shapes, even one simply shape, right? Because we started with the rectangle and we finished it in a Finished it off with a circle , right? So erecting in a circle. And this is what you can get once you know the right techniques. So I really hope you like this redesign. I know I had a lot of fun and a lot of hours spent trying to getting trying to figure around what actually can be done out of this out of this symbol. So I hope you like this redesign comment on and definitely post your discussions or your questions in our discussion board and I'll see you in the next design. 23. Let's start the project: in this project, we are going to recreate and then redesign this logo. It's a logo of a company called Tesoro, and it's a company. It's a petroleum company. And so first we are going to recreate this logo, and then we're going to redesign it. So we're going to take it from this version to this version right here. Let me just zoom out a bit. So first we're going to recreate these squares and these Grady INTs and these thes race. Of course, along with the front and for the redesign, I've decided to reduce the number off colors, get rid of the Grady INTs and reflections, any reflections. But I read them, but I decided to go with a with a similar similar shape. As you can see right here. Of course. I decided to go with the race to add some kind of a shading, maybe here, down here, and make the fund green in this case, which is the collar off the base of the local. So I got rid of this of this blue color and basically left just the yellow and the green color. Okay, so let's first take a look at how this logo is actually created. So you might think that this is just a square, that it was rotated. But when we get to the real recreation party will see that it's not just the square. It's actually a distorted square. Then we got these two parts with the Grady INTs, and these are two parts with the great. It's actually it's not a one like a square with a radiant, nor is it a gravy and mash. These are actually 22 parts and off a square that haven't greater than that, have a great and applied to it. And of course, we got these white race to the left and to the right. Of course, we got the got the name of the company down here, and the fund I really tried to find the father would be like the exact match off the font used, but the closest and the free front that I found. It's called It's called Amaranth, and it's a Google fund. And of course, well, you can download with freely from Google Fonso should you were so but off attached it to this lecture. If you want to follow along, so let's start with the recreation part, and we are going to start with with creating this, distorted the sort of square and then repeating it two times. But we are going to do that in the next video. 24. Let's start the recreation process: in this video, we're going to start recreating our to sorrow logo, and as usual, we're going to start with Creed in a blank, blank card or board. So I'm going to go to the art boards tool and click the create artwork clicks, and we're here and just create a new layer that I'm gonna call design just like that, just as we usually do. So, as I said, we are not. We are going to start with a with a simple square. But it's not just gonna be a square is gonna be distorted because, as you can see in the original, actually the left and the right anchor points arbiter spread out. So let's create a simple rectangle, just like so this should be fine. And I'm simply going to holding down the shift key rotated by 45 degrees. And of course, I'm using the selection tool for this transformation just like that, and now on to spread out the left and right anchor point and be sure that they are. They are equal distance to each other. What we could do is we could simply go to the control panel and maybe enter some values for for the axe access. But we're going to do that in a bit simpler way to my taste. I think it's a simpler way. So with the direct selection, till I'm going to select both these anchor points and I'm gonna activate the scale total tool by pressing the S and then enter or return on a Mac and for the scale of value, I'm simply going to enter maybe 1 15 something like that. So, as we already learned from the from the fundamentals, of course, if we if we have several points selected and then we try to scale them were actually going to move them. And this is this is actually quite handy in this scenario. And all we need to do right now is to simply click OK, because we have the shape selected blue created, believe it or not. And the last thing will not. Not the last name, but the next thing to Dio I already wanted to do last thing. No. The next thing to do is to simply not not repeat, but copy or clone. This and this shape there's distorted to erect a square, and we can do that easily again with scale tool, some simply going to activated. But this time I'm going toe old click on this anchor points of my transformation is taking place in relation to this ankle price on simply gonna old click ultimate right here that I'm gonna make it smaller. Around 80% should do it. And I'm gonna click copy instead of okay, just like that. Now we have, as we can see, two squares. And the last thing to do here is to clone it or do the same transformation to create a small, small square that's actually sitting down here. So this is what I'm gonna do. I'm going to select this smaller square and again with scale tool. I'm gonna collect somewhere down here on this bottom anchor point, and this time I'm going to make it significantly smaller. I'm gonna make it around 30% and I'm just going to click, OK, No, I'm gonna click. I'm gonna click up. Excuse me. I'm gonna go with 30% and I'm gonna click copy, Just like that. So now we have 12 and three scores just like that. And this one is going to be white, actually, so I'm gonna make it wide just like that at in the next video. We are going to take care off the grade Ian's. But we are not. If you're thinking, we're just going to simply add a grade into this square, well, we actually can do that. Well, you will see that we are not going to get a and the fact that we're looking for cause we might we might try and get it. We want to try adding Grady and sliders to somewhere. Here, make this guy maybe wind and check. If that works. Well, it won't work. Nor would mode radiant mash work. Actually, in this case, because what it is here is some 22 triangles that are touching each other. And we have to create two triangles out of this out of the square and then give Grady INTs two each two each triangle. But this is something we are going to do in the next video 25. Let's create the gradients: Now let's create the Grady INTs that I think are the Morriston, the most prominent part of this of this local design. And we are not going to do that by simply adding a grating to this square because that's just not gonna work. Nor would work adding the gravy and mash where we actually have to do is you have to create two separate pieces and then add Grady INTs to them. But that's that's really easy. All we need to do is to simply to select this square and then the square that it's that that's below it you make it may be a bit different color, so you concede better just like that. So now I'm going to select both these guys and in the Pathfinder tool again. I'm gonna go with their with the divide function just like that. So again, the result of this transformation is, of course, the group. So I will, um, group all these guys. And now I will enter isolation moat with this blue square. So I'm going to double click on it. And what I want to do right now is I want to remove this anchor point, and this anchor point as well. So I'm going to select them with the direct selection tool and simply go simply hit, remove selected anchor points like that. You might get this bottom anchor point as a result of our transformation, and it's just safe to delete it just like that. And all that's left to do right now is to simply reflect this guy to the left. So with the reflective active, I'm simply going to click on this anchor point to the left, and I'm gonna reflected vertically hit copy. And just like that, we get to parts created, and now we can start adding the radiant. So in the great and panel, I'm just gonna add this green collar I'm going to add make it 50% location, and I'm going to set this too yellow and all we need to do right now used to simply find the right the right angle. And I think, Yeah, I think 50 should be fine. And now all that's left to do is to simply pick up this grading from the left part and find the right angle for this guy as well. So let me see what will work 130. Yeah, 130 will work. So just like that, in a few simple transformations, we created the Grady int. So now let's create those reflections. As we can see all of these races, we can see them in the original. And creating the race is as easy as creating a simple rectangle. So this is what I'm gonna do now. So with the rectangle tool selected, I'm going to create a rectangle just like so. This should be fine. But of course I want to convert it into a triangle. So I'm gonna enter isolation with this mode with this guy. Some gonna simply double click on it. And now the direct selection tool. Select this bottom path of museum in this, select this bottom path and simply deleted just like that. Now I'm going to select both these anchor points and as we already know, and I want to join them and use the function called average at the same time. So I'm simply going toe press control Old shift J or Command Option J. If you're on a Mac to join them just like that in one point and moved them to the left And just like that, we got our we got our ray first Ray actually created. But of course, we need to rotate to the left and then reflect them. Reflect it to the right. So that's what I'm going to write. Do our do right now. I'm going to select the rotate Tool, click somewhere down here and try to find the right angle for my for my transformation. I think that 15 degrees would be 16. Now let's stick with 15 degrees should be fine. And I'm gonna click copy just like that, because right now what I want to do is I simply want to recreate the last transformation. And to do that, I'm simply going to click control or hit control D on my keyboard. And if I if I just went for the okay, not for the copy. All we would do is we would rotate this guy one more time, and we would not wrote it and copied at the same time. And this is actually what we wanted to achieve. You wanted to rotate and cope eat at the same time. Of course, we are not going to need this middle middle array, but we are gonna have to select both these guys and then with the reflect will reflect them to the right. So the reflective active I'm simply going toe old clicks summer down here on this anchor point and I'm going to reflect them vertically and again. I wanna copy them at the same time, So I want to reflect them. But I want to copy them just like that. And now we have our race created and tell me what was in that easy. I think it was super easy, but we are not done yet. As you can see, these race are actually too big, right? They need to be clipped. And that's the That's the cured here. They need to be clipped so they fit fit nicely. And to create this clipping mask, I'm gonna need an object. That is exactly this combination of this left, right and bottom bottom part. So I'm going to select all of these guys. I'm going to copy them. But now I am going to select Let's say this this ray right here and I'm simply going to select it just like that, nothing more. And now I am going to baste my previously copied part in front. So I'm gonna go control or command if you're on a Mac plus F just like that. And we have our parts, Grady in parts but paste pace it in in front before we create a clipping mask. Let's unite all these guys in the Pathfinder tool. So it's just a simple, a simple path that maybe make it at this black color. And now I can add to my selection all these race just like that and we can go to object clipping, mask make just like that. And this is how you get this? This symbol done off course. All we need to do is to simply type in and the name of the company. So I'm simply gonna go with Tesoro Row just like that. And as I mentioned before, the font is called Amaranth, and it's ah, free Google font. You can you can download from the from the Internet going to simply get it from from the supplemental materials to this lecture. Let me just reposition that. Give it the proper color just like that, and we got the logo recreated. He took some time. It was quite laborious. But all I know it wasn't He wasn't all that difficult, was it? And if it was just posted discussion in our discussion board, and I'll be happy to answer all your questions Now, in the next video, we're going to start with our redesign. So we're gonna take this design and turned into this design. So if you're interested, keep watching. 26. Let's start redesigning the logo: in this video, we're going to start our redesign process. And let me tell you that we that we are going to simplify a lot of things. First of all, we are simply going to create a rectangle, and we are not going to distort it. Then we are going to play around with this shading effect down here. We will create the race and we will, of course, and the text to the border. We're going to lose it. Less colors. We're not going to use Grady INTs whatsoever. And that the whole design will be will be much simpler. So again, let me start with creating a new art board. So I'm gonna go to the art aboard stool, click on the create artwork a button and simply creating you are bored down here and in the later spinal, I'm going to create a new layer and call it design just like that. Okay, so I mentioned before, I'm going to start with the rectangle, so I'm simply gonna grab it with a square. Actually, I'm gonna grab from the tools panel and simply create a square, maybe lying That, of course, we need to rotate it So the slack cental and holding down the shift key. I'm simply gonna rotate it just like that. I'm gonna write it rotated by 45 degrees. Maybe. Let's make it just a bit smaller. Maybe I went too big with it. Uh, 85 should be fine. And what I want to do right now is they want to cut this little piece right here, and we already know how to do that. It's a simple is going to selecting this square first go into the scale told by pressing the asking an old clicking or option clicking on this bottom anchor point, making this guy significantly smaller. Let's go with 35 this time, maybe. And I'm gonna hit copy just like that. And with both these guys selected in the Pathfinder tool, I am simply going to go with the miners front command just like that to get this shape done , let me quickly make it the right color. So it's going to be this this yellow color right here and what I will take care of right now is I'm going to do it. This this kind of a shading of fact. Let me just zoom in real quick. So as you can see, this brown color here is acting like it's like it's some kind of a shootings adding depth to our tour, a symbol. So that's what I'm gonna do right now. And that's actually also that's also quite easy. That's a surprise, right? So with the direct selection, till I'm going to select this bottom path just like that, and you if I just copy and paste it anywhere, you can see that I have Korean that I've just copied this this bottom set off anchor points and that's actually what I want. But let me do it again. So I'm gonna We're going to select the direct selection. Told these bottom three anchor points we're going to select. I'm gonna copy them with the controller command. See, option. And I'm gonna pace them in back. And I would go with the shortcut of control. Be. But let me show you where this command sits and it's right here. It's in Adit and pacing back just like that. And I don't want I don't want to have a Phil. I wanted to have a stroke and I want the stroke to be the dark brown color we are looking for and I'm going to make it just a bit bigger. I think this should do it just like that. And this is how we can easily create a a shaving at this kind of shading shading effect. So in the next video, we're going to take her off the race and the font. So if that's something you are interested, keep watching. 27. Let's create the rays and the text: in this video, we're going to finish our design, and we're going to start that process with creating the race. So again, with the with simple, simple rectangle let me make it white. I'm going to create first race. This guy can be a bit bigger, actually. Maybe this should do it. Let me just just make sure that they are all aligned to the center. And again, I'm gonna I'm gonna enter the isolation mode, remove the bottom path, select again both these anchor points and joined them just like that. So we got that. We've got the ray created. Let me maybe make it just a taller just like that. Okay? So again, what we have to do right now is we have to rotate it to the left. So I'm going to select the rotate told by present the R key and then simply rotating, maybe this time by 17%. Why not rotating the this rate just like that? And I'm gonna hit copy, and then I'm gonna hit control de to duplicate my last selection, which Waas rotating and coping at the same time. And what I will do right now is I will remove this rare right here and again reflect both these guys to the right. So with the reflective active double click on the bottom anchor point hit Copy. And just like that, we got the race created. But we are not actually done really yet. The previous previous video, we made a clipping mask and clipped all these guys. But what I want Teoh achieve with this with this redesign is I wanna, like, cut these thes race from the bottom shape. So I'm not going to create a clipping mask. But I am going to cut these rates from the bottom shape, and that's really easy. All we need to do is to select all these guys all these race make a group out of them. So I'm gonna just go control G. Then so will add to my selection this bottom, this yellow shape and in the control panel in them tools panel in the Pathfinder tool. Actually, I'm going to just select minus front just like that. And the last thing to do is to simply select our lock, the selection, select our shading and put it all the way in front just like that. And this is how easy we can we can achieve. We can achieve certain effects in illustrator. So we want We went from this this design to this simplified, simplified design. And if you wanna, if you wanna decrease maybe the amount of shading you can simply decrease the stroke with, and you are good to go. So the last thing to do here is to simply add the text. So I'm gonna just type in the sorrow again and in my version in my redesign that the fund is gonna have this green collar just like that. Okay? And we are done. It wasn't that easy. And so definitely comment on this design in our discussion board and ah, see you in the next design. 28. Let's start the project: for this project we're going to recreate and then redesigned this Occidental Petroleum Company logo or Oxy for short. If you don't know the company, it's a company that's businesses, oil and gas production and exploration. It's It's an American company based in Houston. When you look on the Web, you might find the version of this logo that has no Grady ENTs. That kinda looks just like this. It only has to fund. And it only has these waves right here. But on their website, they use this kind of a, well, this version of their local with the Grady INTs with all these kind of, like three D effects. So this is what this what we are going to recreate, and then we are going to redesign it. We're going to keep these ways. We're going to keep the found, but we're going to simplify the design, and we are going to play around with the waves to make them look like they are kind of three d. But without the Grady insist that they look really, really nice. And the final design looks like this. So, as you can see, we're going to keep the waves, keep the fund, but we're going to simply fight and make it look better. Okay, so let me just quickly break this logo down for you. Of course, The main There are three main three main elements of this logo. It's this wave that is repeated down here. And of course, we got this bold font in the center of this front is called Micro grammar. And I have attached to this lecture. Should you should You want to follow along. And I have you advise you do, because that's the best way to learn. And so the first thing we are going to do is we're going to create these waves eso the top one and the bottom one, and we're going to do them very simply with some simple transformations. And then we're going to end this middle middle part of these waves, Aziz Well, and that the last thing to do would be to at the font. So if that's something, you are looking for you. This is something you wanna learn. Just keep watching because we will start doing that in the next video 29. Let's start the recreation process: So we're going to start with the creating another art board for ourselves and another layer . So that's as easy as going to the art of war tool and simply clicking. This creates new art world button. And I'm gonna just career creating new art board down here and in the layers panel. I'm simply gonna create a new layer and call it, um, Ox, just like that. Okay, the first thing to do is to create these thes waves, right? These swishes maybe, and that's that's really easy. Trust me. You'll be surprised how easy it is. Although it looks kind of like complicated. And you might think that we're going to use the panel or maybe even the withdrawal. We're not even gonna use the wet with dew, although we could. But this thing I want to show you, I want to show you a different technique. So the first thing we're going we're going to do is we're going to select our Ellipse stool , and we can do that so very simply by pressing the Al key on the keyboard and I am simply going to create an ellipse just like that and I'm holding the old or option if you're on a Mac and shift keys together to start drawing it from the center point and, of course, to constrain the proportions. So what I get is a is a perfect circle. Uh, I think that should be fine. The next thing to do right now is to simply copied this circle. So I'm going to control sea or command, see if you're on a Mac and then control or command f just like that. So now we have two circles on top of each other. And what I want to do with this guy is I want to make it smaller. So I'm simply going to an initialize or make that the scale tool active by pressing the asking on the keyboard. And I'm simply going to hit enter just like that and I'm gonna play around with the size. But I think that's something around 70 to 75 maybe 67% should should be fine. So this is what I want to do. I want to scale it down uniform elite to around 75% and I'm just going to simply it okay, just like that. That was that easy and all we need to do right now to simply move this guy to the left until it goes a bit out off the bigger circle. So it's a slightly a bit more to the left, just like that. I think that should be fine. Okay. And all that's left to do here is to simply select both these guys just like that. Go to the Pathfinder tool and in the shape modes just choose minus front as we already know . So if I just click on it just like that, we have created this kind of like crescent crescent shape. But we are not done yet. But I think that you might you might start to guess where this is going and what we will do next. And if you thought that if you thought that we'd use the rectangle tool right now you were right. We are going to make it active, repressing the AM a key on the keyboard cause that's the shortcut for the rectangle tool. And I'm simply going to create one from this. This anchor point to this bottom anchor point like that and I'm gonna make it to just a bit bigger. Something like this should do. That's fine. At what I am going to do right now is I mean, I am simply going to select all these guys and again I am going to hit minus front in the Pathfinder tool just like that. And this is how easily we can create this kind of this kind off shapes this kind of waves or socials, if you will. Off course. The result of this transformation is a group, as we can see in our control panel. So I am going to group these guys by pressing the control shift G on the keyboard or command shift G. If you are on a Mac and I'm going to select the bottom one, enter the reflected by pressing the okay on the keyboard and then the enter. I don't I wanna reflect this guy vertically just like that. And simply gonna I'm simply gonna hit OK, and there we go. So it wasn't that easy. I think it was super easy. And we're going to Teoh, continue creating this this logo in the next video and in the next video, we're going to start at in Grady INTs and that we are going to do something with these swooshes that will allow us to achieve this kind of a like a three D effects. So if you're interested, keep watching. 30. Let's create the swooshes and the gradients: first thing I want to do with the swooshes is I want to make them smaller, but I want to make them not just smaller. I want a smaller version of it to be exactly in the middle off the original source. So as we can as we take a look at the original, we got a kind like a background sushi right here, and then we got a smaller one in the in the middle of it. But if we just went for for the scale tool, let me show you why this wouldn't work. Why this technique wouldn't work. So if we just went for this scale tool and just try to make it, make it smaller allergies get copying. You can see that we are actually making it smaller, but that's not really what you want, right. So even if we went for this scale tool again for the skeletal and try toe the click on this anchor port and then maybe try to squeeze it in something like that, adding the old or option keep on that's no no, that that's not thinking. Let's not thinking smart, and that's not the correct way to do this. the correct way to do this is to use the offset path command. So I'm going to select this top swish. I'm gonna goto object path and I'm gonna go with offset path just like that. And in here, I'm going Teoh mean more officer, do you add? So the higher the value of the offset, the bigger this next path is going to be. But since we wanted to be smaller, what we need to do is we need to enter a negative value. And I think that's something around minus, maybe, but more minus six, maybe minus five should do it. And as you can see, right now, we get to paths that are well, exactly what we needed. This the Sandra Path is exactly a smaller, but it's in the middle of the original, the bigger source. So let's do that again. I'm gonna select. I'm going to select this bottom bottom switch, bottom wave, and again, I'm going to go toe object path offset Bath. And since the transformation I want is exactly the same, the value of the transformation is exactly the same. I'm just gonna hit, okay, just like so. And this is how easily we can. We can achieve this. We can achieve this affected can create and we can create this effect with the officer Path Command. So the next thing to do is to add the Grady. It's so I'm going to select this bigger swish. I'm going to get rid of the stroke just like that, and I'm gonna enter. I'm gonna hit the period key to add a Grady and fill to my my source, and I'm going to start adding Grady int colors to my to my source. So first, I'm gonna add this blue one and then I'm gonna add the lighter one just like that. I think I'm gonna reverse. Let me just let me just check with the original. So what we need right now is we need toe is we need a Grady int that is going to be like a darker in in the bottom and the bit lighter on top. Because, as you can see, we get this lighter edge right here. So we got the darker one right here and get the lighter color stop right here. But we need to play around with the angle. So in the angle value I'm simply gonna select this value. And with holding down the shift and the arrow skip, I'm simply going to play around with it just to find just to find the right the right angle . But I think that we are also going to need to gonna need to play around with the Grady and slider. Let me just check. Yeah, as we can see, when we play around the grating slides we are adding mawr off this color of this doctor blue to our to our social Make it time make Maybe you conceive better. You will see the better like that And maybe let me just got this game for a second. So again, when I play around with the greedy in slider again and see that I am adding and subtracting more of a more off this darker blue blue color just like that and I think that we might even wanna make this guy a bit lighter just like so. And maybe men move this guy, but to the right, just like that, Let me just based back my smaller Swiss back in front. And what I will do right now is I mean, simply go into sample this, Grady from from the bigger swish, just like so. But in this case, where we need is we need a reflection going through the metal of our switch. So what we need to do is we need to add another Grady int stop to our to our Grady. And so I'm gonna do it by just simply dragging along this slider and adding in the altered pressing the old G at the same time or option key if you're on a Mac. So I'm duplicating this. This great didn't stop just like so. And I'm going to move it all the way to the right. And of course, it would be great if I had Swiss selected see. Even Aiken can make mistakes sometimes. So let me let me just do it again. So I am simply I'm simply going to select this grading slider and hold down the old key or option key on the Mac to move it to the right just like that. And as you can see, we already have have this, like, kind of a reflection going and going in the center. And if you want to make it a bit more like a more visible, more prominent. Just add a bit more of this dark color on the rights of move the grading slider to the left and maybe this guy to the right just a bit. So right now, the contrast between this slider blue and and the darker blue in the left and on the right is bigger. And our reflection is a bit more a bit more visible. So, yeah, we did it. We got this Grady into recreated. And in the next video, we are going to take care off the bottom swish. And we are going to do something a bit different with the one of the Grady INTs. So if you were interested, if you want to learn it, keep watching. 31. Let's add the gradient to the bottom swoosh: in this video, we are going to continue creating our Grady ants. But this time we are going to take care of the bottom sushi. So the first thing I'm gonna do is I'm gonna simply sample of this grading from from the smaller source just like that, because it's basically the same Grady int and I'm going to sample this thing's bigger ingredient as well. But But as we can check with the original, we can see that this this grading is kind of a different. I mean, it only has this is a lighter color right here, right, So kind of in on top. And we got all this dark blue going to left on the bottom and to the right, just like that. And if we just laughed it just like that. So if we just left the great and as is I mean, if we left it with these color stops and this type of greater because that's the most important thing right here, we wouldn't get this effect. We would be struggling with it like four hours like I did until I came up how to how to how to exactly recreate it. So the most important thing here is to change the type of the Grady into two radio just like that. Maybe let you may answer the isolation mode just like that. And now when I get the great in tool, you can play around with it. Maybe let me just reverse the great in just like so. And now if we just play around degraded, we can see that we are actually, we are actually making this lighter collar before visible on Lee on top, part of our of our sushi. So now it's just a matter of finding the right angle and playing around with this great in just a bit, just like so, maybe less just like that. So it's really a matter off getting off, getting this greedy int right? And I don't again, I really don't want to bore you with the watching me click and constantly clicking this Ah , the this Grady int filled. So I'm simply going to leave it up to your invention and up to your imagination on how did how this great and should look. I think it looks I think it looks all right. I think it looks fine. So really, the last thing to do here is to simply at the text. And the front tire that is used for this design is called micro Grammar. So I'm simply going Teoh initialize the textile by president. But this T symbol on our panel found simply going to click somewhere here and type in boxing just like that. And I'm going to move this guy to the center just like so. This should be fine and what we could do right now if we could simply create the outlines. So I'm gonna go to type create outlines, so I would just converted at life taxed to fonts two paths. So we've converted life, taxed two paths. But of course it's still a group, so I'm going toe on group it, and I'm gonna make it just a bit bigger. So I'm gonna initialize the skeletal by pressing the asking and then just play around with scale tool with with this value, this would be fine. And what I wanted to right now is I wanna have, like, equal distance between the O an ax and ax and Weicker's as we can see right now, the distance is not okay. The acts and why are way too close to each other. So what I'm gonna do is I'm gonna simply select all these guys make my acts letter the key object. So I'm simply clicking on it once more, but not shift. Click. And I'm simply click it on a clicking on it once more to make it the key object. And in my align till I am going to set the space in Let's see, five pixels I'm going to hit, hit a horizontal distribute space and as we can see, it starts to look. It starts to look good. I like the spaces in between between these letters, but they are all just a bit too big right now. So again, with the scale tool I am going to make these guys just but small are just like that. Okay, on The last thing to do is to simply make sure that of course, we need to add the color to our fund. I almost forgot about that. So I'm gonna add this red color. So the last thing today is to make sure that all these guys are aligned properly. So this tops, which is going to be a group these guys that's let these letters again are gonna be a group again. And the bottoms, who she's going going to be a group, Justin. And just like that, because what want to do right now is want to select all these guys. And in the align panel, I'm going to go with distribute objects, vertical distribute center, just like that to make sure that the space between the top switch and the tax in the bottom swish and the tax that is equal. So we got everything professionally done, nicely crafted and looking looking really nice. So this is how we This is how you can recreate this kind of a logo. And this is how we can recreate the ox logo and in particular. And in the next video, we're going to redesign until it looks until it looks like this. So if that's something that you're interested, keep watching 32. Let's start redesigning the logo: in this video, we're going to start redesigning our Oxy logo and we are going to start with the creating another art board and another layer. So I'm gonna go to the art board tool just like that, and I'm gonna click this new art board bottom just like so to creating art board and in the layers panel. I'm simply going to create a new layer and call it Oxy. Maybe this time to redesign just like that And again, the first thing we need to do is we need to create and the lips and create our swishes. Just we're just just like we did in the previous videos. So I'm going to create on the lips with, But I'm gonna initialize the Ellipse tool by pressing the l key on the keyboard. And by holding down the shift and the old keys together, I am going to create in the lips just like that, a perfect circle. And again, what we need to do is we need to simply make this guy will copy it, make it smaller, and move it to the left. So this time I am simply going to initialize thes kale toe. But by pressing the asking on the keyboard. Make this guy smaller again to something around 75 76%. And this time I'm simply gonna hit copy just like that and moved is going to the left to somewhere here. Now that these guys are created, I'm going to select both of them and in the Pathfinder tool. I'm going. I'm gonna go with the miners front command, just like so. And I'm going to create another creator first that the first rectangle just like that and again select both these guys and hit minus front in the Pathfinder toe. Just like so. Of course, the bigger the rectangle, the bigger the gap would be between the swishes and the smaller the second ellipse, the wider this wishes would be. So if you want to play around with the heart well, the scale off the of the ellipsis and off the rectangle Just go ahead. Go ahead, have fun with it. I want to show that the techniques on how to achieve certain certain effects. So what we need right now is we need Teoh is we need this wish to look like it's kind of a kind of like it's gonna bending in three D And trust me, that's really easy. But I think that you would see it better. You would understand what I'm what I'm about to do better if I just if I just replaced the filled with stroke, something just going to go shift acts on my keyboard to make these guys black. And I mean to make their Phil black and white give them white stroke, as we can see here in Hell's in our tools panel. And since they are a group, I wanna group them by pressing the country. I don't group them by pressing the control shift g on the keyboard just like that. What I need to do right now is I need to simply reflect this guy to the left, so I'm going to select it and I'm going to go to the reflect all and I do that by president of the okay on the keyboard. I'm simply gonna hit enter just like that, and I want this reflection to be vertical. And I wanted Teoh. I want this guy to reflect on top of itself and I'm simply gonna hit copy just like that, and I think that you can already see at the effect we are about to. We are about to achieve with simple, simple transformation. Right now we have to swooshes, as we can see. But since they are, they have white stroke that we can see that that there's kind of a gap going on right here . But but it's not a real gap is just a stroke. A white stroke against the white aren't board. And we wanted to be way. We want to have a gap right here. So I think that this is something we are going to do in the next video. 33. Let's create the swooshes: in this video, we're going to create the gap between thes swooshes. So the easiest way to do this is to simply select this guy. Maybe I'll enter isolation on by double clicking on it. Let me just grab the selection tool and double click on it. Let me zoom. It's where you can see what I'm doing better. What I want right now is I want to have they want to copy this bottom this bottom arc right here. So that's as easy as simply selecting this anchor point with the direct selection tool. And now, if I copy and paste it anywhere, you can see it have just that have just copied Onley. This arc is this bottom park off the swish. So let me just zoom back, just revert a few times so I get I'm simply gonna select this anchor point. And what I want to do right now is I want a copy and paste it in front just like that. And of course, I don't want to have a film. I wanted to have a stroke, and I will make the stroke significantly bigger. Something to four. Well, maybe 23 Maybe it's not gonna be that significant that it's gonna be It's gonna be bigger. So three points should do it. And what I wanted to write times I want to go toe object and I want to expand. I want turning this stroke into filled. So with the with the expand command, I'm simply gonna hit OK, And now, instead of a instead of a stroke tow path, I have a closed path with a proper filled Because what I can do right now with it is I can I can sleep well, but keeping the selected I can add to my selection this bottom sushi like that. So I'm shift clicking on it. And in the Pathfinder tool, I'm simply going to go with the minus front command, just like so. Of course, all these paths still have strokes, so I am going to get rid of them. Of course, I am not going to need this bottom on this top switch anymore, so I'm simply gonna delete that. But this guy, I wanted to have a stroke, so I'm going to get rid of it. Same goes for this guy, just like that. And now we can say we would have to two separate separate elements of our of our art. Just like that, if we go to the outline mode, we can see that we have one path right here and another path down here just like that. So, really, all that's left to do is to simply reflect this guy and move it to the bottom. So that's what I'm gonna do right now. I'm going to select both these guys initialize the reflected by pressing the okay on the keyboard. And of course, I want the reflection to be horizontal. So I'm gonna I'm gonna enter horizontal reflection right here and then I'm gonna hit copy just like that. And I'm simply going to move it till it to snaps with the bottom swoosh. Just like so course I'm going to cut this guy. So now I have access to my to my original source on Idol warrants. I'm gonna delete it, and I'm simply going to go control Commander, have on a Mac to paste this guy in front just like so. And the last thing to do here is to simply reflect this guy. And this time I'm going to reflect it Reflected vertical e and I'm gonna hit, okay, Just like that. And there we go. We got our sushi is created. Of course they need they they still need proper colors. And of course, we still need to add a front in the middle right here. But that's something we are going to do in the next video. 34. Let's add colors and text: in this video, we're going to finish our Oxy local redesign and we're going to start with the colors. So first, I'm going to select the directs the with the direct selects until this top part of our arc . And I am going to give the this darker blue collar this bottom guy, the smaller one will have this lighter color. And here in the bottom of this guy's gonna have this darker color. And this guy is gonna have the lighter color just like that. If you want to revert these collars, if you want this guy to be lighter and this guy to be darker just like so be my guest, it's It's up to you. It will just make this wash, make the ark look like it's bending in different directions. So it's really up to you which way you want to go. But to tell you the truth, I could even go with just a simple with simple colors just like that and leave it as a leave it like this. But if we want, if you want to make it look like it's banding in three D space and we wanted to be, we want this fact to be but parent way. Want to leave no room for speculations here. We're simply going to make these guys different color and lighter color in this case. So last thing to do is to simply add the font. So I'm gonna click with the text with a title selected, I'm going to click on my art board, type in oxygen just like that. Of course I'm gonna let me just make it bigger. And of course I'm gonna change the front toe. Micro grammar, just like that. Boot it somewhere. Here, make it smaller, make it smaller. That should be fine. I'm going to change the color of to read. And again, I want to make sure that everything is aligned properly. That that the spaces between this letter these letters are are right are equal. So I'm going to go to type. I'm gonna create outlines and I'm gonna un group all these guys. And right now I'm simply going to select all these guys. So I'm gonna go select the old letter that just maybe put it right here. So I'm going to select the older of the X letter and the UAE letter as well, and I'm going Teoh make this time my oh letter my key objects. With all these guys selected, I'm going to again click on the O to make it Mikey objects. As you can see, it kind of looks like the amount off ankle points was doubled or maybe even tripled. That's I'm gonna go to the align Ah, align panel and in the distribute spacing option, I'm going to set the space. Let's check four pixels. That's gonna be too much for about two. Uh, this should be fine. Off course. Where we need to do right now is we need to make it just a bit smaller. Let's see, 95%. That might be a bit too much. So maybe let me make just a bit bigger to something like that. Okay, this should be fine. Of course, the last thing to do is to make sure that all the spaces between between our taxed and an hour so she's are equal and that everything simply aligns properly. But to do that, we need to make sure that this guy is a group that the bottom sushi is a group and that the letters are a group as well. And what we can do right now is we can simply select all these guys and make sure that they are aligned to the center just like that and that they are distributed properly, vertically, just like that. And there we go. We got our local recreated. Of course, if you want to play a play around with this local, that would be great. If you showed your versions of this logo in our discussion board, that would be even better. But I think that we'll learn to quite a few nights tricks on how to create this kind of swoosh of fact. That is, uh, that is a nice effect. I think it looks, I think looks really nice. So I hope you learned a thing or two. And if you are craving for some more local designed and redesigns will stay tuned cause there are still some more to come 35. Let's start the project: this project we're going to recreate and then redesign this capital One logo and its logo of a Fortune 500 companies. That's a financial institution. And I gotta tell that this logo is one of the locals that I really think need a redesign, and they really, really needs a redesign. I mean, the more I look at this logo, the more I think that someone who designed it and I mean no disrespect, but someone could design into probably just learned Microsoft paint and have some fun with it, because I mean, like a swish with Grady int and one son, Serif and Serif font. That's something that's not good design, you know, I don't think it's a good design. I don't think I'm not sure if you agree, but I think that that this company will This local really needs a redesign. And the redesign that I came up with looks kind of like this. So I retained the colors. I get rid of the swoosh and the Grady int, and I thought that we could play around with the fund custom. This phone was slightly customized and I thought that it would be it would be kind of cool to simply take this and letter and incorporate a letter and a number one here in the word one. So this is what we are going to do? It This is this is a redesigned. So let me first break this original logo down for you. So as we can see here, at the most important, I think the most important, most distinct part of this local is this swish right here. So we are going to recreate it. But we are not going to use the pen tal. That would be too much trouble. Too much, too much work. And trust me, I've tried it. And it took me too much time to to recreate it. We are going to use another tool for this and we, of course, we are going to have to add the Grady int end This I think like a shading effect down here . Now, the font used here is a font. I don't know which which found believing. I tried to search for probably some distorted and and customized fund, but we're going to we're going to use a phone that is for every close to it. And would you believe that it's good Old Ariel, that's that. That's the closest match I found for this. For this fund at the Serra fund, I found a fund that is like completely, completely the same. And it's a free farmed. It's called Fiji, and of course I will. I will add it attached to to the lecture. So of course we're going to add the colors we're going to We're going to make it look ask close. Except for this for this capital front right here as close as possible. So if that is something that you're interested, that's something you want to learn. So stay tuned and see you in the next video. 36. Let's start the recreation process: So in this video, we're going to recreate this local first. We are going to start with this wish and the Grady int, and then we're going to re create recreate the tax down here. Of course, we're going to add this the this gap that the letter always creating as well. So as usual. Let's start with creating a new art board for ourselves. So I'm going to go to the art of war tool in my tool panel just like that. Let me just move it, move it up. I'm gonna hit this, create new artwork, but on and I'm gonna create an artwork just like so And in the in. Ah, my right panel. I'm going to create a new layer. So by holding down the altar key or option, if you're on a Mac, I'm just going to click, create new layer and simply gonna call it reedy. Maybe maybe Capital One just like that. Okay, I'm gonna I'm gonna maybe I'm gonna lock the original layer. So, as I said, we are going to start with creating this swish, and we're not gonna use the pen tool. We are going to use the ark toe and it's gonna be so simple that it's almost frightening. I'm gonna go to the Ark Tool, which sits under the line segment. We'll hear on in our in our tools panel, and I am simply going to click somewhere here, and I'm going to start creating an arc just like so, some clicking and dragon just like that. But of course, this Archies leaning towards well, the left side and I wanted to be lean toward the right side. So that's easy. Opening to do is we need to press the letter F on our keyboard to make the Ark flip just like that. And what's great about it is that these two anchor points or the top and the bottom anchor point maybe let me just change the color of this ark very quickly. Maybe let's go here and change it to something really, really visible, this yellow color. So what's what's really great about these anchor points of the top? And the bottom anchor point is that they are smooth anchor points, so if I just drag around each of them, you can see that I am getting these direction handles and they are quite handy because All we need to do is we need to simply drag a handle just like that. So one handle and now the other handle to make to make this make this swoosh happen. Yeah, So dry. Let me drag this guy like that. And he does handle a bit to the top and maybe just a bottom. Okay, that should be fine. You can play around with it as much as you want. So as you can see with the arc till we just created it with two simple clicks and simple drags when the Panta we would have to click and drag and try to find the red right curvature. And trust me, we wouldn't get it just by clicking here and here and then trying to play around with the with the handles. So just to just as a repetition, let's do that again. So again, I'm going to go to the Ark tool. Maybe I'll change the color from blue to maybe this magnificent this yellow to this magnificent blue like that. And I'm going to click somewhere here and sugar drag my drug menarche just like that. That should be fine. And now again, I'm gonna Teoh, I'm gonna move this handle to the right so quite significantly. And then I'm gonna drag this handle to the right just like it. Of course, this one is gonna need a bit more. A bit more. A bigger swish, maybe, but this guy, but down case all that small disco up. Okay, this should be fine. And we'll also move this gunned down just a bit like so. And as you can see, it's quite a lot of quite a love clicking. But trust me, this this technique proved to be the quickest. So this is why I'm showing you this. Okay? So that all all we really need to do right now is to simply join on these anchor points down here, and we'll top here and down here. And so all we need to do is to select both these both these arcs and simply go control or command J. If you're on a Mac and I'm gonna go twice because I have the micro points that I need, Teoh, join right here, and I propose that I need to join right here. And that's and that's the same as going to the object menu Bath and join right here. But I usually just go for control or command. Well, I usually go for control J so as you can see right now, there we go. We got our swish together, swish ready? So I can just simply move it down here, and I will make it, and I will make it the proper color. So I'm gonna make it this red. But of course, we still need this kind of a this kind of a shading effect down here, so that's real easy. All we need to do is to simply with the with the selection tool selected. So I'm using the Black Arrow two. Let's call it like that right now, so I'm simply going to bring it, bring it just a bit up. But I'm also gonna add the altar or option. If you're on a Mac key to it, I'm gonna hold down Onda the shift key. So my transformation is constrained. I'm going straight up with this or this transformation. So I am cologne in my my swish up, Just like just like so. Okay. So as we can see, if I make it black, we could see that we got to swishes right now. So all we really need to do is we need to select both these guys, go to the Pathfinder tool and choose my favorite function Divide just like so. And if you if you don't want it to be, if it don't want it to be a group anymore, taken simply, ungh, group it all. We could simply get rid off the parts off the bits we don't need. It's simply by pressing by by selecting them with the direct selection tool. So I'm not going to eat this top parts on simply gonna select it and delete it. Then I am not going to need this black part right here, So I'm gonna select it and deleted and thes Bo both these guys. So this black part and this red part need to be united. So we can simply go to our Pathfinder tool and choose Unite just like that. So now we got this. This part, this is black part and this red part down here. And of course, in the original, we gotta Grady int, right. So we need toe a add the grating to our well, this right now it's right now it's black. So to this black part. So that's as easy as simply going to the radiant Grady and tool. And I'm simply going to start adding my my color, something I'm gonna have read and I'm gonna add Well, I'm gonna I'm gonna leave it white. Of course I need to. I need to reverse the direction of the radiant, and I'm gonna move the slider all the way to the right. And if you want, you could You could even add another read Stop right here. So I'm just clicking and a dragon. And by holding while holding down the ult or option Chiana Matt. So right now I can move it all the way to the right. And as you can see, we are We are subtracting the white from our from our radiant If we wish so. But if you don't want to do that, we can simply just leave it as is and move the slider to the right just like that. Okay? And this is how we can create this swoosh right here on the in the next video. We are going, Teoh, we're going to add the farmed and we're going to create this gap right here. So if that's something you're interested as usual, keep watching 37. Let's start adding the text: So now that we have our swish created, remember we created it in our previous video. This is the this guy right here. All we need to do right now is to create the text one. And of course, we're going to need to take care of this gap right here to that. That's cotton Onda. This this solution so that's really easy on we need to do is we need to simply go to the type toll right here, and I'm simply gonna click anywhere on my art board and type in one. And the phone that I'll be using is called fija. And that's them. It's Ah, it's a free Google found. And of course, it's attached to this lecture. So let me just make it smaller. But as you can see the original font right here, just zoom in a bit. The original phone right here has apparently no gaps between between the letters. So when we need to do to anything, just the track, right? So let's go to with the text selected. Let's go to the character setting. Let's just it's just the tracking. Maybe just a bit more to something like that. This should be fine. But of course what we have to do, Maybe let me just make them a bit bigger. Okay? That should be fine. So of course, what we have to do is we mean in order to create this gap because we will want Teoh cut this swish with our with our old letter. So what we have to do is you have to create paths out off out of my out of my taxed. So I'm simply just gonna cut it, and I'm simply gonna move it here just like that. So what I need to do right now is I need to create her the past regular paths out of this out of this life fund because I want to. I want to have an object that I could cut cut my sushi with, and that object will be the old ladder. So what I need to do right now is I need to simply go to type two type menu and go create outlines. But we could always use the control shift, plus all shortcut. Or if you don't even want to use that, we could simply with this tax selected right click on it or command, clicking on a Mac and simply choose create outlines just like that. So now that I have all these guys turned into inter pass, I need to have something an object, an object that would cut my there were cut my switch. So of course, this object is going to be my old ladder. So I'm simply gonna unde group all these guys. I'm going to select the letter o command, control or command. If you're in a maxi plus commando core control F to place it in front, and I'm simply going to make it better, Something like so this should be fine. Okay, so now what I want to do is I want to keep it handy in my in my in my clipboard. So I'm gonna go control C command, see on a Mac So it's carpet into my clipboard. So before actually cutting my switch, it needs to be done grouped. So I'm gonna just select it and go control shift G or command ship Jonah Maxwell. Now I have to separate paths just like that. And with my letter all selected, I'm going to add this bottom path path and that this a shading effect to my selection. So I'm holding down the shift key and clicking on it just like that. And I'm simply going to go minus front just like that. And remember that we still have our carpet in Tora clipboard. So now I can simply go control or a commander on a Mac plus f just like that, and I'm gonna add to my selection. This wash is great in part of the switch and again, un simply gonna go minus front, just like so. And of course, we don't need but both these guys right here. So with the direct selection tool, I'm simply going to select these guys because I don't need one group anything right now I'm gonna just delete these guys. And now we can select this guys, these guys. And as you can see, we got a We got a group. We got a group right here, just like that. So in this video, we created the text one. We reduced the tracking and then we converted in tow, converted it into outlines, and then we cut our cover switch. So it looks so it looks like that, I guess if I was if I wanted Teoh retain this kind of a swish effect. I guess I would go with the with the clicking a mask and just made a maybe reflection. I going through this Oh, as well. But it's not the case in the original, so we are not going to do that. We are gonna However, we are going to create this capital front right here, and we're going to at colors to our fund to finish the logo. So that's something that you're interested. Just keep watching. 38. Let's finish the recreation process: in this video. We are going, Teoh, finish the whole design and we're gonna do that by creating this capital text and then adding proper colors to our text. So we're gonna add the blue color. So what we need to do is we need to start with the type tool, right? And that's that's pretty out. This sounds simply with the title selected. Click anywhere here on the art of boards and simply type in capital. And as I mentioned before, I simply couldn't find the original the original fund. And if you know what is the original fund us, please do let me know. But what? I found out that the closest and matched to the phone is good old Ariel, and it's a bold and italics version. But of course, this front needs to be significantly smaller. So I'm gonna make it smaller just like so and move it somewhere here. Okay, that's fine. And, uh, we need to reduce the tracking so the letters are a bit closer. I think minus 60 should be fine. So now let's move this guy again somewhere somewhere here. Of course, you can adjust it to your liking if you wish with your redesign or recreation. And of course, since that these letters are are alive tax. So I'm going to simply go go ahead and click right click on it and just create outlines just like that. And now I want to be sure that all the spaces between the letters are equal. So again, I'm simply gonna un group all these guys. And since all these letters are still selected, I'm simply gonna collect on the letter C again. Just like that, to make the key object. I'm gonna go to the align panel. I'm gonna go show options and in the distribute spacing, I'm gonna enter. Let's see four pixels. That's going to be way too much. How about two? That's not even gonna be good. Zero maybe minus two. Let's see. Minus toe. Okay, this should be fine. Okay, so now that we have our text selected, created, now we can select it, and we can add a proper color to it. Which would be this blue color just like that. Okay. And there we go. We got our our logo recreated. So in this in the process, we created this wish. We added the Grady int on Remember that we created this which with the arc tool that with the pan tal, we, of course, used the Pathfinder to create this path. That kind of looks like a shading of fact. Then we took the one tax. Well, of course, we we typed in one, then created outlines. And then we created this gap with the Pathfinder tool. And then we created the capital capital text. And we, of course, set the tracking and, of course, the right space in the after we we've converted of the letters into into regular paths. So this is how you can you can achieve certain effects in illustrator and how you can recreate the Capital One logo. And but, of course, we are going Teoh the redesign it in the next video. So in the next year, we are going Teoh, turn this thing. This design into this design and the fund who were going we're going to use is gonna be totally different. And yet we are going to customize it a bit. And of course, we're going to create this thing. This one right here we come to creates ah number Well number Yes, A number out of a letter. We're going to create this number one out off the letter. And so if that's something that you're interested, keep watching. 39. Let's explore the redesign process: in this project, we are going to redesign the capital one logo. So before we start, let me quickly break this logo down for you. So as I mentioned before, the fund we're going to be using is completely different. It's a fund called Clear Sense. I just I just thought that this fund would look really nice and it's a free phone made by Intel, and it's, ah, freely available. So the thing that we're going to do with the font is we're going to customize it a bit. We're going to change a bit this dot about the letter I and we're going to do some things with the letter T as well. So things are diff them on the first things we are going to dio. And of course, they were going to take care of this of this one Number one in that letter, and I've decided to go with the same colors that are used in them in the recoil in the original local, in the recreation we used in the recreation. But of course we don't have any great days with them. We don't have any shadings were simply laying around with the fund and we are making it look fun. And we are. I'm hiding some meaning here in the letter and yes, the letter and is hiding meanings hiding alone number one. But it because, of course, I bet that this financial institution wants to be number number one. So, Ok, now that we know what we have to do, let's actually start doing it. But let's do that in the next video. 40. Let's customize the font: So in this video, we are going to start redesigning our logo. But of course, before we start doing anything to our to know to our artwork, before we start creating anything, we need to create a new artwork. This is this is the way I usually work. I just want to I just want to have a separate our board for my for my new artwork. So, in the with the art portal selected, I'm simply going to click this creating artwork bottom and click somewhere here, Just like that. Again, I'm gonna create in your layer in my layer spell I'm gonna name it may be redesigned this time, just like that. And as I mentioned in the previous video, the font we are going to use is called Clear Sons. So how much is first? I'm just simply the type it'll selected. Click anywhere and type in Capital, Capital One like that. Off course. I'm gonna make it bigger. Don't worry. It's got bigger. Maybe even as biggest this guy. So the phone is called clear, sons. That's the one that I'm gonna go with the bold version of it, just like that. But if we take a look at what? My redesign. We can see that there's something done with the letter I and the letter T. So if we go to there to the original fund right here, we can see that we have that this daughter above the letter eyes is a bit Well, it's not a perfect circle. And we are going to make this t letter a bit. Um, we're gonna make it like it like it has an edge right here. So before we start doing any of that, of course, we need tohave simple, simple paths created. So again, I'm simply gonna with this with this text Selected life text selected I'm going to right click Or you can command click on it if you're on a Mac and simply go Creed outlines just like so. And I think I will ungroomed all these guys just so it's easier for me to work work on them . And when we click on the letter, I you can see that in the in the top left corner of the control panel, we get the word come compound path displayed because this is what it is. It's a compound path and a compound path. It's something like, Well, it's a it's a regular path, but bet some consistent off separate other path. So like in this case we got in, we got a rectangle and a well, almost a circle that are making our letter I And if you wanted to select, select and this, like Onley this this circle, will we actually cannot do that Even with the direct selection tool, consider that I am selecting the whole compound path. But we can actually select Onley pieces on off compound paths and without releasing the compound path simply by with the direct selection toe clicking and dragging around a part of the path that we that we want, just like so. But before we actually take care of this guy, let me simply bring up my rulers. I'm gonna go with control are like that because I want to just establish, at which point I want. I want my letters to be be reaching. So I have ah, have a guide like that. And as we can see, the literacy and the letter Oh, well, are the off the same hide. So there's a couple of things we're gonna have to do with the eye of the tea and the ladders. So first, let's take care off the off the letter off the letter by I'm gonna lock my guides. So I'm gonna right click on my art board and simply gonna go lock guides just like that. So, as I mentioned, if you want to get rid of a part of a compound path, we need to drag around it with a direct selection toe. But before I actually do it, let me simply create a dot above for the letter above this rectangle. So So we have the letter letter, I So I'm simply gonna with the with the seller of the Ellipse, still simply going to create an ellipse that would be somewhere somewhere here, and it's gonna be something like this, and I'm gonna bring it up. Of course I wanted to be. I wanted to be black, and I don't want to have any stroke, just like so, and I'm simply gonna lock it. So I'm gonna go to object lock selection and again with the direct selection, till I'm going to drag around to this this guy and simply get rid of it, just like so Now let's take care of the letter. L So I'm going to simply select both these anchor points and bring them down, just like so to my so it. So it alliance nicely with my guide. And the last thing to do here is to simply bring this these two anchor points off. So I'm making this letter t a bit taller, just like so. And what I want to do right now is I wanna have, like, an edge going, going here, going on here. So I'm simply going to select this anchor point this anchor point and this anchor port. So I am dragging around them by holding down the shift key and dragging around them with that direct selection tool. And in my control panel, I'm going to go to remove selected anchor points just like so. And this is how easily we can we can have this kind of an effect with our with our type. So in this video, we customized our our fund. So we crew created customized Olara. I customized the letter T and the letter l we made them esto as that The letter c and also our capital letters right here So I think it's high time we started playing around with the letter and creating a number one right here. So that's something that you're interested. Keep watching. 41. Let's create number 1: in this video. We're going to take care off that letter. And so we're going to create a gap between the left racked angle and the right rectangle with this arc. And I don't know any type technical terms for these guys. So forgive me. And then, of course, we're going Teoh. Add the this part that there will actually make this left rectangle look like it's a number A number one. So that's fairly easy. Really Only need to do is we need to select the rectangle told, because we want to create a rectangle just like that and a little a little piece of advice here that whenever you are trying to figure out the with or the height of the gap, really just create any path that would would eventually give you this gap or make the gap and simply make it the same color as as the background. So in my case, I am simply going to sample the white background. And just like that, I can see how big the gap is going to be. And if I if I decided I don't want to have a bigger gap, I could I could simply do it like that to see what it looks like. Or we could simply just make it smaller to something like so. And I think it's gonna look fine. So really, all I have to do right now is I need to select both these guys. So my rectangle and my letter and and in the gun in the bad finder told simply go with the miners front command, just like so. So really, all I have to do right now is they need to simply create a rectangle that would be something like this, maybe just a bit bigger, just like something that maybe move it to the left. And all I really need to do is with the direct selection will select both ease left anchor points and simply notch them down just a bit, just like so and move this guy to the right. Like so. Of course we could play around with the with our with our well, this rectangle to make it to make it look the way we really want. So we could spend the whole afternoon just trying to figure out how big this or how rescued this rectangle should be. But I think I'm gonna just leave it like that. This looks almost good. I think I think I'm gonna really just of it down. Maybe something like that. Okay. I don't want to spend too much time on it. I want I want you to spend much more time on it than I do because I want Oh, I want to learn and simply grasped the detecting that we are using. So, yeah, this is our This is this the base off our redesign off course. Before we finish the whole design way are going to have to take care of the space and go, We are going to have to take care of the of the colors. And before we do that as actually, so it's actually select both all these guys and simply, let's maybe unite them in the Pathfinder to also there one path just like that. Okay, so in this video we created at this gap between between these parts of the letter and right here and then we created a number one out of this left rectangle with the Pathfinder tool. And in the next video, we're going to finish our design. And so we're going. We're gonna take care off the spaces between our ladders and we are going to take care off the colors as well. So if that's something that you're interested, keep watching. 42. Let's distribute the letters and add colors: in this video, we're going to finish our design and we're going to take care off the spaces, the gaps between of the letters and we're going to add the colors to finish the design. But before we do that, we must not forget that we still have one thing to take care off. Remember that when we created to this ellipse right here, It's not actually a part of this off this path that they are not together. So we could just simply group them all. We could make a compound path out of them. And that's as simple as simply going to the object menu compound path down here and simply going simply hidden. Make all we could always go with the shortcut of control eight or command eight on a Mac just like that. And now we can actually take care off off the space in between between the ladders. So I'm simply going to select all these guys like that. I'm gonna click on this capital on this. See a letter just like this capital. See, exactly this capitalist, he just like that. So I'm gonna make it a key object and again in the Align panel in the the distribute spacing option. I'm simply going to find the right right value May before or maybe even five. Just like that. Now, that should be fine. And now what I want to do is I wanna group this Look, This word well, these letters that make the word capitalist, I'm going to group them just like that. And I'm gonna group these letters just like Aziz. Well, so I'm gonna control G on them because of what I want to do right now is I want to make sure that I have the right the right space between these guys between these two words. So this time the whole world capital is going to be is going to be well, Mikey object. And maybe I'll just make this guy just a bit smaller. Bigger, maybe 10 pixels. I don't think I have these gold these guys selected. So again, group these guys select and make of the capital of capital word my key object. And let's see, Ton. Yeah, that should be fine. So, really, all that's left to do east to add that colors. So I'm simply going to select the letter of the word capital and I'm gonna make it this blue collar and this guy is going to be this red color just like that. So there we go. We got the capital war. One local redesigned, we customized to the front. Quite significantly, we learned what's what's a compound path. So we created a compound path here with this letter I And then we created a gap here in the the letter and created Number one out of this out of this left rectangle in the letter. Just like that, of course, we took care off the off the space in between all the letters and yeah, and there we go. We are done. I hope you really like this redesign because I think it's a cool one. It's a nice one. It shows you how in really simple tricks and techniques can make a local look a really interesting. It's a good idea to find ideas. It's a good idea to fight ideas for logos or local redesigns in the letters themselves. Ah, like with this with this letter letter. So I really hope you like this design and you are craving for more cause there are still some more to come 43. Let's start the project: in this project. We're going to recreate and then redesigned this spear bank logo and it's a Russian bank. And obviously it's not on a Fortune 500 list, but it's on a global 2000 list, and it's one of the biggest companies in the world. So I thought that it would be a good thing to redesign this local recruit and then redesigned this this logo cause I think very it needs a redesign. It could use some redesign, at least. So this is what we what we are going to do. We are going, Teoh, take this logo recreated and then we are going to redesign it. So it looks like this. And there is a story behind this redesign, and I'm going to share it with you when we get to the part onto the redesign part. So as you can see, we are going to redesign a lot about the original logo. First of all, what we are going. Teoh maintain. We're going to keep these that this Shabba Northeast spikes idea, but we are not going to use a user any. Any elliptical shapes were going to use Gump more like a triangle triangle shape. And as you can see, I went with a completely different a completely different fund for this. For this redesign, I decided to keep the green collars because I guess they went for the green color because green is the color of money, at least in the song parts of the world. So yet that's what we are going to do. So let me just break this original or go down for you real quick. So first we are going to take care off this off this symbol. So this is this fear. It's got some will spice going on right here on these rocks, have a drop shadow applied. And this thing's Grady and down here is actually I think it's a Grady into MASH. We are goingto anyway and recreated with a great and mash using the gravy and mash. But these top spikes are are gonna have the great in a plight with simple radial grade int . And of course, we're going to create the this farm. Well, this text, we're going to create this text, and the front used in this logo is most probably a paid found, a commercial fund, cold Pompeii pro and off course, we're not going to be using the commercial commercially available phone. Of course, if you got it and then go ahead, just just that fund, it's going Pompeii pro. Now we're going to use a free alternative instead of which is a very similar and it's called deliberation Serif. So, yeah, we are going to use that phone. So you're without further ado. Let's actually start recreating this logo and we are going to start doing that as usual in the next video. 44. Let's start the recreation process: in this video, we are going toe start our project. We're going to start with recreating this. This symbol right here, that is that the most difficult and the most laborious to recreate? Obviously. So as usual, we are going to start with creating a new art board. So I'm gonna go to the to the art aboard, Tool, and I'm going to click this creek Art Board the bottom, and I'm gonna simply create an arbor down here in the layers panel. I'm going to create a new layer. So I'm gonna old click on this, create new layer bottom, and I'm gonna call it Spare Bank just like that. And I'm gonna go. I'm gonna hit. Okay, Okay. So now we can start our our real recreation on. We are going to start with a simple ellipse, So just grab the Ellipse tool and I don't have any stroke. And I wanted to have a nice film and is gonna beat this dark green Phil right here. So I'm gonna create a simple, simple ellipse just like that, just remaining back so you can see it all better. And what what we need to do right now is we need to create these gaps eso that they create these spikes. Okay, so? Well, that's actually really easy. And this time I know it's I know it's uncommon, but I'm gonna use the pen tool. So I'm just gonna grab it from from my tools panel, and I'm gonna make sure that it has white stroke just like that. And not simply going to collect somewhere here and create the spot. The spikes, Just like so. And they were This guy was supposed to have the right stroke just like that. And I think I'm gonna make the stroke batter bigger than that. Bigger the batter. Okay, eight points. Should be fine. Maybe just a bit. She asked. Um, this should be okay. Okay. And what I wouldn't do right now is I want a duplicated cologne. This guy, this spike to the top. So let me just grab it with the selection tool, hold down the shift key and add the ultimate to my transformation. And I think I'm gonna This should be fine. So what I want to do right now is I want to simply select this guy. There's a cloned this cloned spike, and I'm just gonna go control or command dif If you're on a Mac just like that, I'm gonna do it twice to create thes thes spikes in a matter of just a few few seconds. Now what? I want to do that one too. Subtract these spikes from the from the circle, and in order to do that, I need to have, well, paths that have and have filled. And they don't necessarily need to have a stroke because I want to subtract them, not divide the whole shape. So what I need to do is I'm gonna is they gotta have a gotta go to the object menu, go to expand and just click OK like that. Now it's a group, as we can see in our in our control panel. And all we really need to do is to add to myself at to the selection that this this lips, I'm just going to simply click on it just like that. And now I'm going to go to the Pathfinder tool and with shape, Moz, I'm gonna go with minus front like that. Of course, I don't need the top part right here, so I could simply select it with a direct selection tool and then just hit delete to get rid of it. But actually, womb, we are going Teoh have to separate all these guys ultimately. So I'm just going to select all these guys on group them by using the command commander control shift plus G on my keyboard. And now I can simply select this guy and deleted just like that. And if you look around the web, you can actually find some subsidiary subsidiary companies off. This of this spear bank company had actually used this kind of a simplified, simplified logo. But we are going to actually recreate the original the main logo. Eso we are going Teoh, add Grady. And so we are going to add ingredients to these spikes and we are going to add the gray didn't match to this, that this cut half circle in the bottom. But actually, I think that this is something that we should do in the next video. So this video was simply created with a panto, some some spikes. Then we expand them and then subtracted those shapes from from them, from the lips in the background. So in the next video, you're going to start adding and start at ingredients. So if that's something that you're interested in, just keep watching 45. Let's start adding gradients: in this video, we're going to start adding a the Grady INTs and we're going to start with these spikes right here. So I'm simply selected all of them with holding down the shift key. And, of course, I got my selection to active right here, So Well, we could do is we could simply go to the great and Tool, apply any Grady int. And now I'm just gonna select the collar. So I'm gonna go with this dark green color, and then I'm gonna go with a lighter Greek collar. But of course I knew what I want to have you. They wanna have this, um, have dark color of the great and applied to the edges on both sides so we could simply add another Grady and stop and make it make it the dark green. But I'm just going to go with the radio grating, afford this guy. And now I'm simply gone with the great until active And I did that by present. I make I made it actively present the geeky. I'm simply gonna play around with this Grady int just like that. It could also we could always player on the grid in slider to add or subtract a certain a certain color. So maybe maybe I'm gonna leave it as a 50% of what I'm gonna maybe moved this guy a bit to the right just like that. Okay, If we wanted Teoh that simply add ah Grady and stopped to our to our radiant well, just reverted to linear. All would have to do is to simply click anywhere in the great in the panel, move this guy to the center, move this guy to the left, make sure that it's got the proper dark, dark green collar and maybe play around these sliders just like so maybe move this guy to the center that you make, maybe enter 50%. And then we could just play around with these sliders just like that, Maybe make this guy at 33% and maybe this guy at 66% just like so, Okay. And this is how we can easily create this kind of effect for for these for these spikes. So he simply selected all these guys and first editor Grady into them, and we could go with the radio Grady int or with with linear grading, but we just need to with the linear ingredient, We just need to add another color stop. And we need to play around with the radiant sliders. So either way works and which way you go, Which were you choose is up to you. I guess I would go with the linear linear ingredient, but I would really like it. Teoh experiment both of these options. Just so you know, you'll get better added by experimented with them. So in the next video, we're going to create the gravy and mash here in the bottom. And we are going to dio do that in a separate video because it takes a lot of clicking to get this to get this shape right. And I don't want to bore you with too much clicking, you know, you do much plaguing the one. A video is is never good. So in the next year, we are going to start our start, start creating our ingredient match 46. Let's add the gradient mesh: in this video, we're going to create a greedy int match. And for for those of you who don't know what a great and match is, a great and MASH is simply kind of a group off. Multiple anchor points added to a to a shape which can actually receive different colors. And the more the anchor points we add that the more colors we can add. So let me get just go to the object menu and this is how you can create a great into mash. So in the object, Manu, I'm gonna go with create radiant match and in here we got different options. So the more rows we add, you can see that we are actually adding mawr more Inc reports from ERM or horizontal lines . I think fine should be fine. I think five should be fine. Fine is always fine. And for the come account, I am simply gonna enter. I guess five should be okay as well. Now it's 40 appearance at this time. I'm just gonna go with with flat. But if you want to experiment with this with the great match, you could go with two center, so you can see that we got this huge reflection in the center, and it's kind of fading into this dark green to the edges. And if you go to ads, you can see that we got a huge reflection on the edges and we got this darks, but here in the center. So I'm gonna just going to go with Flat and in my swatches panel. I already have three swatches that I want to create the Grady int mash with. So if we take a look at the original, we can see that we have some sort of a some sort of a reflection, like maybe Cem elliptical, maybe reflection down here. And to tell you the truth, getting this thing kind of reflection takes quite a lot of time. I mean, it's not that difficult, but you would have to spend the whole afternoon maybe adding some mash points or playing around with the right with the right color. Values may be at a a bit darker green or a bit lighter green eso I just want to show you the technique off, fusing the Grady int mash, and later you can decide if you want to add a match points or maybe just play around with the cars. I'm going to show you all all that. So what we have to do right now is that I think it's I think it's best to simply select the mash points. And I'm doing that by oppressing I'm clicking on them with the direct selection tool. And now that I have all these guys selected, I am simply gonna go to my swatches panel and click this green color just like that. Maybe if I just selected this guy, it would be great. Some adding this green color to this guy as well. And these guys, all these guys, are gonna have this lightest green color just like that. Maybe this guy as well. Let's see what? Maybe, maybe no. As you can see, it's going to take quite. I look quite a lot of clicking to to to get it right. So these guys are gonna have this green collar, and I think that I'm gonna add this the same green collar to these guys as well as well, let me just quickly collect all of these guys and simply at this green color this guy's gonna have this lighter because It's simply supposed to go something like this, and I think if you want to create a smoother transitions, what you could do is you could simply select some of the anchor point that you want. Teoh change the color and simply with the with the eyedropper tool that I said Activate. By pressing the I key, I can simply select some of the colors to make them to make them. Let's E. I don't know if you can see it properly, but I am making thes collars a bit darker, or just a shade shade lighter or a shade darker just like that. So it's a technique you could use you. You could try for yourself to make them the transitions even smoother. And if you think that you would like Teoh, add some match points to to your mash, um, your radiant match. What you could goes. You could go to the Grady int to the mash tool, and simply when you when you click on any off the edges, you can see that we are adding another set. Another set off mash points, and you can do that off course with the rose just like that. So No, not now that I have more match points toe work with. I can simply even make the transition even even smoother if I want to. If I wanted to be, like, extremely, extremely Smoove. So this is how you can work with the Mashtal and how it can recreate this kind of a this kind of a effect or this kind of a symbol. So definitely have fun with it. Definitely play around with it before we create the name of the company. Before we create the text. There's just one little thing we need to do. Remember that when we were breaking down the logo when I was when I was telling you what we would be doing to recreate this logo and we need to add a bit of a good drop shadow to these spikes, So that's that's really easy. I bet you know how to do it. And if you don't? Well, then just you just need to go to the effect menu. Of course I have all these guys selectors. I'm gonna go to the effect menu. I'm going to go to style eyes and I'm gonna go with Brooke Shadow. So the way this works is if you want to move your your shadow horizontally, you would enter the x offset value right here. So we've answered something, something crazy, like 40 pixels. You can see that we are moving our our girl Grady int our drop shadow to the right. But I don't want I don't want to move it to the right. So I'm just gonna go with zero here and a four d y offset. I think I'm gonna go with something really small, maybe even two. And I don't think I want any Blair just like that. Maybe even why would be okay. Yeah, I think I'm gonna I'm just gonna go with him with the one pixel for the White Office. It's by moving my drop shadow and vertically by one picks and I don't want any blur. So the drop shadow looks like this, and all we really need to do is to simply click OK, just like that To finish this and this symbol like so And the really last part to do here is to simply create the taxed. So the title selected I'm simply gonna type in spear bank just like that and the fun that I'm using is called liberations there. If, as we already mentioned and I'm using the bold version of it, it's not exactly the same phone, but it's it's very similar and it's free, and that's that's a huge bless for our educational purposes. So of course, when we could do right now and what we would do to to finalize the design is we could create the outline. So we want to convert this life tax into into path. So this time I'm simply going to use this shortcut of control plus shift plus O or command shift Plus, Oh, if you're on a Mac just like that And of course, the result of this transformation is a group, and what I want to do is I want to make sure that the gaps between these these letters are equal. So again, I'm simply gonna algroup all these guys make the this as letter my key objects. So I'm going to simply click on it again so you can see this an extra set of ankle points that kind of glowing on this letter s and in the align panel. Let's see, I'm I want to distribute these guys horizontally. So let's see. 10. That maybe a bit too much. What if I go with zero? That's gonna be too little. So I'm gonna go with maybe, maybe with far. I've just like so Okay, I'm just gonna leave it like that. Okay, So, uh, almost almost. I just notice that I like to say the last thing to do, But what we are going to do right now is not the last thing. It's almost the last thing. So I'm gonna just grab my rectangle tool, and I'm going to create an underline going on going on here. Maybe something like so. And now the last thing to do is to add at the proper color to my to my taxed. So maybe this dark green or maybe light or a green. Maybe Just sample some on some color in between. Something like that. This should be fine. Okay, there we go. We got our We've got our logo. Got our logo. Recreate it. It took some time. It took some more advanced things to do. Like especially the Grady and mash we could, which we could play around, play around with for four long hours long winter or autumn hours are afternoons. But the purpose of this local recreation was to show you how we can use the great and match how we can create this kind of this kind of spikes of very, very quickly and effortlessly. And also we learn how we can manipulate that drop shadow effect. And in the next video, we are going to start our redesign. So we are going Teoh, turn this logo into this logo. So we are going to do quite a lot off quite a lot to it. And I am going to tell you a story, a story which I why I chose this symbol for the logo. So if you like stories and if you're interested in this redesign, just keep watching. 47. Let's explore the redesign process: in this video. We are going Teoh, redesign the spear bank logo and we're going to make it look like this. So we're going to create this this polygon right here with these spikes, and we're going to create that we're going to change the fund from that liberal from the serif font to this sound serif court chanting fund. To tell you the truth and I promised you a story. Why it shows this way chose this. This is symbol. So here it is. Um, maybe it's my ignorance, but when I feel when I first saw the name of this off this bank, I thought that this bank came from Siberia. I have probably probably because it's beer, so it kind of sounds like Siberia. But then when I did a little research, it actually turned out that it's not a Siberian blanket's the oldest bank in Russia. And it was. It was created in 18 41 and I think it's main had his headquarters is in Moscow, so it's definitely not not Siberia. But when I thought it was Siberia, I thought it would be cool to turn this that these spikes, all this shape and take these colors and maybe turned into something it would resemble like a nice and nice tree, Maybe something like that. And when I was creating that this and this this simple I thought it actually might look like a tree. But it also when I changed the colors Andi some angles. And it started to look kind of like a maybe a top of a huge building, like a toll building a skyscraper also like a pyramid. I mean, I don't want Teoh. I don't want to look like this Companies doing some pyramid schemes or something like that . That's just a It's just a accident. But I think that this logo looks looks really cool. And to meet shows that the growth, the potential But it also conveys like stability. Because even if we even if we say that this is a pyramid, I think that the pyramid is something convey stability, power and human abilities. You know something? Something really powerful. And I think that this, um there's something important for for a huge financial institution. So this is why that is why I thought that it would be a good idea to redesign it this way to create it like that. So now you know the story. And now you will learn how I how to actually build this this symbol. But you will start learning it in the next video. 48. Let's create the 'pyramid tree': in this video. We're going, Teoh, start recreating this. This symbol, Let's let's call it the tree symbol or the pyramid traceable. Yeah, that's gonna be a pyramid pyramid tree. Okay, so we're going to start recreating the pyramids tree. And we were with, of course, of course. We need toe. Create them some room for us to work. S. I'm gonna grab the our board. Still again. I'm going to collect the creed you are towards option right here and simply creating your artwork just like that. And in the layers panel, I'm going to create a new layer and call it and called Redesign, as we usually do. Okay, We're going to create this symbol on by simply creating a rectangle and then transforming it a few times. And that's gonna be simple. As you already know, I am all about simplicity. So I'm going to create a simple, a simple record. Actually, I'm going to create a square, so I'm just gonna click and drag holding down the shift key till I have something. Something like this. No. Maybe let's make it equal size. So let's make it 200 pixels just like so. And what I want to do right now is I want to rotate this guy. So I'm simply rotating it with that. With the selection with the selection tool, I'm going to rotate it by rotated by 45 degrees, just like so. And what I want to do right now is I want to have seven copies off this square, and I want want them to be cologne up. And I want them to be on to the equal distance to each other. So first, I'm just gonna grab this guy, and I'm holding down the shift key and the old key together on a Mac. You told the option key to create another square somewhere here. And what I will do right now is I'm going to simply hit to control or command. If you're on a Mac plus D six times. So +123456 So I have seven copies in total. Let me just get rid of the fill right now. So as you can see, I mean, you may already start to see that we are going to create these bikes right here. We're gonna We're gonna have these spikes right here. Thanks to all these squares and to get all these all these spikes, I'm gonna go to the Pathfinder till and simply gonna hit divide. And that's I think that's my favorite. I think that's the function that I used the most in the Pathfinder too. So I'm gonna hate divide. And of course, it's a group. So I'm gonna ungroomed pit and I don't need all these unnecessary paths right here. So I'm simply going to select all these all these squares just like that. Maybe. Let's select select them with the with the lasso tool that maybe just a bit quicker. So I'm simply going to select these guys and delete all all those. Okay, so now what? What we need, Teoh, What we need to do is we need to select every other every other this spike, what's called that's selecting every other off them. I'm gonna delete these guys and I'm going to select on this is square on the top. And this is the smallest Chevron or a spike right here. And I'm simply gonna unite them just like so and now, in orderto achieve the final effect we are looking for, we need to kind of like calypso this shape or to crop? Andi, I think that's a bad word to describe what we are, what we are about to do as we were going to use a function in the Pathfinder that we don't think we will use it before. So what I want to do right now is I want to create a polygon. So the polygon, till I'm going to create a polygon that's gonna be actually a triangle. So if you're polygon looks something like that, if it has more sides, all you really need to do is to simply select Well, select is to simply hit the down arrow, keep to decrease the number of science, and I'm gonna create a triangle just like that. But I want the triangle to be off the same hides just as a as my as thes shapes are right here. So I'm gonna start all these guys check Heather hide and they're hiding is quite funky. I'm gonna I'm gonna make it. Even so, I'm gonna go with 2 80 pixels just like that, and that's what I will do with my triangle. So I'm gonna make it to a T in a height and I want to make sure that it's it's aligned properly with these guys, that sitting somewhere here, let me just check a check. If it's if it's if it's aligned properly, Okay, that should be fine. So what I want to do right now is I want to crop these underlying Chevron's. But in order for this technique to work properly, what we have to do is we have to make sure that these guys have Phil and the stroke is not really necessary. So what? I wanted to write Nice. I want to simply give this guy's Phil and I don't really need the stroke. So now I can select all these guys, go to the bath finder tool and simply hit a crab just like that. And the result of this transformation, as usual, is a group. So I'm gonna one group all these guys, I'm going to select these black paths, and I'm going to simply cut them by pressing the control or command X on a Mac to cut them . And we still have some paths right here. So these guys are the result of our transformation as well. So I'm going to simply remove these guys and paste that these guys back in front. So we have the shape ready and waiting for us. So now we're starting to see what our final symbol are finer and final effect is going to is going to look like so use the song Some pretty nice transformations In this video, we used a new function in the Pathfinder called Crop. We created these chevrons with the rack tangle tool I simply clone and moving into vertically eso. Now our shape is ready to be taken to the next level. And in the next video, we're going to continue building it, so stay tuned. 49. Let's add the colors to it: in this video, we're going to continue creating our pyramid tree, and we're going to start with creating a gap between the left side and the right side of our symbol. And that's as easy as creating a simple rectangle. And it really doesn't have to be big. It can be even that small. This should be fine. I don't want to have any stroke. And what I wanted to do is I want to align all these guys to the center just like that. And what I want to do right now is I want to create the get is I wanna get rid of this of this rectangle, but I want to keep the gap, so to speak. And in order to achieve that, what I gotta do, they got to create a calm, calm path off all these black elements, and that's as easy as simply selecting them and then go into the object menu compound path . And then I'm just gonna hit make force. I usually go with control plus eight Batam. I just wanted to show you where you can find this this function, so I'm just gonna go hit make just like that and Now I can select all these guys and in the Pathfinder tool, I'm simply gonna select minus front, just like so and bear in mind that the result of this transformation as usual, is a group. So we could either ungroomed all these guys or we could simply select and these elements that are inside a group with the direct selection toe and this is what I want to do. I want to select all these guys from shift clicking on them because I want to start adding colors. So in the swatches panel, I'm gonna make this thesis edge this site this darker green and this left side, he's gonna be this lighter green, just like so. Okay, Our pyramid tree is starting to look really nice. I'm just gonna make smaller zoom in right here. And the next thing to do is to create a that taxed Andi, this is something what we're going to do in the next video 50. Let's add the text: in this video, they're going to creator the taxed. We're going to add the company name. And that's as easy, of course, has just selecting the type tool and simply clicking anywhere on the artwork and typing in spare bank just like that. And the fun that I use for this redesign is called access. And, of course, the free found off attached to the to the lecture. It comes only bold, but that's actually a good thing in this case. And the reason that I went for this phone is not only that it has, like nice curvature to the ass and be looks, looks really and powerful and trustworthy. Also, if you take a look at this letter, are it kind of It kind of looks like a reversed letter Russian letter, and that letter is pronounced yacht. And you learned something your summer Russian here as well. So I thought that that's that's a real nice That's a really nice addition to this to this redesign. So again, I'm simply going to create outlines off this off the stacks. I'm gonna go right click on it, or command click if you're on a Mac and just gonna create outlines. I'm gonna add this darker green color to my my logo. And of course, want to take care off the of the gaps between between the loudest one. Take care of the space. So again, what I want to do is I want a un global these guys because you can see that these guys are a group. So I'm gonna un group them. I'm gonna make this guy key object, so I'm going to simply call it, click on it to make it a key object. Don't shift, click, click on it just shows. Just click on it and let's check her five pixels. The five pixels should be fine, but there is something we're not strange, but there's something peculiar, something significant at the same time that is happening right here between the letter B and the letter A When I tell when when we zoom on it, you can see that the gap between them is, um, mathematically five pixels. But visually it looks like it's bigger, right? And that's because we have this thing edge of the letter A. And we have this thing arc of the letter B right here that this whole space here is making them look for further report. So what we could do right here is we could simply move the letter a all the way to the letter b away to the left. So I'm simply going to select both these letters and I'm gonna make my letter B the key object. And this time I'm gonna go as low as zero pickers pixels to move this guy. So it visually, it simply looks better. But of course, right now I need to take care of these guys. I'm going to select a and K letters, make my letter a Mikey object, and again go with five pixels just like that. Okay? And we are done with our redesign, just like so. So I hope you learned a thing or two. I hope you like this redesign. I hope you like the techniques that we use. The process of free designing this fund way used quite a lot of pathfinder. Quite a lot of transformations on some aligning, but of course. But I think that it all was were actually quite easy. And it all is really easy. Once you know the right techniques and wants to approach this kind of designs and redesigns in the right way. Once you want Teoh, think what easiest ways and techniques you could you could used to recreate or re designer . Well, any artwork for that matter and it all becomes so much clear and so much easier. So I hope you like Teoh, help you like this project engine that you are eager for more across there is still some more to come. 51. Let's start the project: in this project, we're going to recreate and then redesign this logo on the local of a company called Agrium . And what they do is they produce fertilizer for agricultural and industrial markets. At least that's what that's what it says on their website. So I know that there is not much going on with this logo. I mean, there's just this is Sarah found and this like a paintbrush stain right here. We're not going to do a lot with this with this logo, but I wanted to show you how we could redesign that using the negatives space in local design. So our redesign is going to look like this. So, as you can see, we are going to redesign quite a lot. Eso First of all, we are going, Teoh, use this very bold front. I don't know. I think I'm like I'm some kind of a phase to use bold and big funds lately. So, of course, the Sensory fund. And as you can see, I've used this negative space effect here to create the letter A and the shape right here looks like a tree that that's, um, cutting a this with this letter eight Of course, I just used to colors. I usually would go for just one color in a design like this, but I wanted to kind of emphasize this letter A and this negative space affect. And since this shape right here is a tree, trees are usually green. At least the leaves are a green. So I wanted to emphasize the agricultural, part or side of the company. And of course, the rest of the text is another earth. Don't. Is this nice this nice brown color? So, uh, let's start with that with the recreation part of our of our project. And the fund that I use for for this recreation part is a free alternative to this fund. It's called operas, Gina. It's a very, very, very close match, but not the closest. So we are have to go. We are going to do a few things, and with that with the font. And But I think that we are going to do that. We're going to start a re creation process in the next video 52. Let's start the recreation process: in this video, we're going to start the recreation process off this acronym logo. And usually what I would do is I would start with creating a new art board for myself to work on, but in in the case off this logo. In the case of recreating this local, I would have to refer to the original quite a lot quite often, because what we are going to do is we're going to create it will type in and the name of the company. But then we're gonna have to customize the fund quite a lot. So I don't want do I don't want to look at me going back and forth on my art boards just to make sure that I am having that I'm recreating or customizing the fountain in the right way . So I'm just going to simply this time I'm simply gonna move this phone just a bit up. Although I am going to create a new layer for myself to work on. So I'm simply gonna old click on the create your layer bottom. You guys who are on a mattress click option create you layer, and I'm gonna call it agri. Um, just like that. And the first thing I want to is, of course, I want to type in the name of the company. So with the title selected, I'm simply going to click somewhere here. And remember, the front is called APA Raja, and I'm gonna type in the name of the name of the company just like that. And we can see right now that this fund is well, looks almost identical to the original. But of course, there's a few things we will have to take care off in order to make it look well, almost like 99% identical. So, of course we were gonna have We're going to have to customize the letter A so we can incorporate this green. This green thing here I am gonna have to customize the letter G a bit. The letter R Laura, I let you and the letter M as well. Basically, I'm gonna have to customize all the letters what we could do. You are You could be tempted to simply go for the bold version of the fund. But as you can see, if you went for the full version of the phone, you would have to customize quite quite a lot. So what I'm gonna do is I'm going to simply leave it as a regular and after the customization process, I am simply going to offset the path a bet to make it look her to make this front look a bit that boulder. So the first thing we have to do here is of course, we have to create the outlines. So we want Teoh exchange or convert the life tax two on two paths. So what I'm gonna do is I'm simply going to with this tax selected, I'm going to, right Click somewhere on it and just go with create outlines. If you're on a Mac, you could You could simply select this text and then just command click on it to get this dialog box. So I'm simply gonna go create outlines, and what I'm gonna do right now is I think I'm gonna UN group all these guys, as you can see in the control panel, these guys are a group, so I'm gonna just group them and the two I'm gonna be using right now is is the direct selection toe and we are going to use it quite a lot, so I'm simply gonna activate it in my in my control in my tools panel. And the first thing I want to do is I want to get rid of this of this bar off the letter A . So you have only this space right here. So I'm simply going to select this bar. Some simply mark een around it just like that. And what I want to do right now is they simply want to delete these guys just like that. We can see that there is still this bar right here. I wouldn't go toe when we go to the outline mode, you can see that it's actually gone. And what you want to do is you want to join these anchor points, I'm going to simply click one of them. I'm gonna click the 2nd 1 by holding down the shift key. And I'm simply gonna go control or command J if you're on a Mac to join these guys like that and I'm gonna do the same with these guys. So click on the 1st 1 shift click on the 2nd 1 and just joined them like that. No, we really don't actually need these ankle points anymore. So if you want, you can simply drag around them and in the control panel, simply remove them. Just like that goes that these two anchor points or this guy and this guy are when they are joined, they suffice to get the look that we are looking for. So again, I'm gonna just marquis around these two anchor points and simply going to get rid of them just like that. So now when we are back in the preview mode, we can see that we got our letter a created just like that. So now let's take care of the letter G. And when we compare these two guys, we can see that this bar there's some I don't know how you call it. This thing that comes out of the the letter G. This serif is, ah bit bigger, and it's it's kind of flat right here, and our guy here is a bit rounded, so that's what you want to take care of right now. So what we could simply do is it could simply select around these anchor points, delete them and join these two anchor points just like that. So with just a few simple clicks and transformations. We way are mimicking the original original serif in this fund right here. Now, the next letter to day care off would be the letter R, but I think that we're going to start doing that in the next video. 53. Let's start customizing the font: in this video, we're going to take care off the letter are Well, we're going to start with the letter R to make it look more like the original fun. So again, we're going to have to make this serif a bit more flat. So let's let's actually start doing that. So let me just zoom in on the letter R, and as we consume, we also have some, some ANC replies that we are not gonna need here. So with the direct selection, till I am going to Marquis around this anchor point right here and I'm simply gonna delete this guy. And when I saw let this anchor point and this inter point, I can simply join them to create this kind of a close path and this kind of a flat Saref just like that. Now, the letter I when we take a look at the original, we can see that it has the smaller serve. In our case, it's a bit a bit bigger, but there's one thing winning Teoh we need to note. We notice this serif ism is the same as this serif with the letter M. So when when I want to what I want to do right now is I want to make sure that this this serif is the same as the Sarah for with the letter M in the letter M. So what I want to do right now is they want to simply create a rack tangle. So I'm doing it with the rectangle tool and create a rectangle. Something like this. This should do it and what I want to do right times I want to move it all the way to the right to make sure that my letter and is gonna have the same the same Sarah of So what I will do right now is I'm gonna simply select this thesis rectangle. Then select the letter. I just like that. And in the Pathfinder tool, I'm going to use the function called Minus front, just like so. And I'm gonna do this same with my letter. I am so again, I'm going to select my my wrecked and go right here. Then select the letter M and go minus front in the Pathfinder to just like so. So really, the last thing to do is to take care off that off these serious and letter you, as you can see, that they are a bit leaning toward toward left and to the bottom. So I am going to simply marquee with the direct selection tool around somewhere here, this part of the on this part of the anchor points I'm going to shift drag around thes anchor points as well. And I'm simply nonce them a bit down with the with the down arrow key just like that. So now we got to. Now we get our font customized. Maybe we could may bring this thing dot above the I just a bit too, just a bit down. And before we offset the path cause this is the next thing we are going to do, we are going to have to take care of the letter A in terms of its height, because, as we can see in the original, the letter A is a bit bigger. So that's what I'm simply gonna do. I'm simply gonna make it bigger with the selection tool just like that. And I think that this should be fine. Okay, so now what we can do and what I would do is I would simply offset the path to make this front. Look, Boulder s So I'm simply gonna select all these guys with the selection toe, Go to the object command object menu than path. And I'm gonna go offset path and the office of the Value is gonna be really, really smart. Let me check two pixels. I think that maybe even a want a pixel. It should be fine. And there we go. We got our fund recreated. Now we did some. We did a lot of actually customizing, so we took care of the letter g. We took care of the letter R, we made a service with the letter I and Emma, but smaller and the same. And we took care of the series of Larry you and we brought we brought brought the dot above the I bit down. So in the next video, we're going to take care of this green green swoosh right here and we're going Teoh, align or distribute all the letters properly. So they are. They are in the right distance from each other. So let's do that in the next video 54. Let's distribute the letters and create the swoosh: in this video, we're going to finish our recreation process and we're going to start with distributing their letters so the space between them are equal. So before we actually start doing that, there's one thing we need. Teoh bear in mind. When we offset the bath, we are actually added another path right here. So what we have to do right now in order to properly distribute all these guys who is we need to select each letter separately to select, actually two paths and group them some selecting each letter like that with direct select with the selection tool. And I'm simply grouping all these guys just like that. So now we can see that each ladder. You can see that in the control panel. Now each letter is actually a group because it's ah, it's the original path and on the officer path, a fact that we applied teach ladder. So now we can select all these guys some doing that with the selection tool. And I'm simply gonna make the letter a Mikey object. So I'm gonna click on it once more so you can see this set off angry borns like glowing around our letter And now we can go to the align panel and check what distribute space and value would actually work the best. Let's see the ring. Let's see what it looks like. That might be a bit too much. So let me just make this guy Mikey after again. Let's actually go with zero. Let's see. Uh, yeah, that should be fine. Let's leave it like that. We could play around with it a whole afternoon, making sure that all these spaces are are optically and meth or mathematically, if you will, even But we're just gonna leave it like that. It's more about showing you that technique rather than watching whether than you watching me clicking a whole afternoon. So the next thing I'm gonna dio Well, actually, the next on the last thing I'm gonna do is I'm gonna create this swish right here. Let me just lock this guy. And then all you panel lovers will be will be delighted, because we are going to use the panto to recreate this wish. So I'm simply gonna zoom on it just like that. I'm gonna make the panto active. We're gonna make sure that that I have a stroke collar and I'm gonna make it. Maybe this yellow. So just just so we can see everything, everything better. So I'm simply gonna click and drag around these guys. I'm simply gonna click somewhere here and then just click once more here, to to create. So when you are clicking and dragging with the panto, each will next anchor point is actually a smooth point. It's not a corner point, but to smooth point. So if you want to be sure that you are making all your lines and corner points smooth, just remember to click, click and drag something light. And of course, when you click and drag, all your paths are actually still Aditya Bubble when you have the direction handled so we can simply click on one. Or maybe this chronic Let me just zoom in quite a bit so I can click on this guy and maybe membrane it just a bit just a bit down, just like that. Maybe do the same with this guy. So we so we can be sure that our our swish is properly properly recreated. Okay, so this basically but basically this this looks like the original Social Ginetta when I don't want you to watch me clicking, clicking this guy all day long. So the last thing to do is to simply sample the color of the original just like that. And, of course, bring this guy down. Bring this guy down here and a bit to the left. I believe somewhere here, and I think that this guy should go all the way all the way. And it wasn't created on the proper layers and let me just cut it, base it on the proper layer just like that, and simply based it back in front, just like so. So there we go. We got our logo recreated. So we customize the front quite a bit. We use the direct selection told to customize the phone. We use some joining Onda. And of course, we use some distribute spacing to align all these or distribute all these letters. We offset the path to make it look bolder. And as last, we created this green switch to finish the whole recreation effect. So, in the next video, what we are going to do is we are going to read the redesign, this logo. So we're gonna use another front of different fund called Morro, and we are going to customize the front just a bit, just a little bit. And of course we're going to create this negative space effect right here. So if that's something that you're interested, just keep watching. 55. Let's customize the font: in this video. We are going to redesign the Agron logo and we're going to make it look like this. So the fountain, as I just mentioned, we're going to use the school tomorrow. And it's a free found turn available freely on the Internet. But of course I have attached to this lecture. Should you want to follow along? What we're going to do is we're going to first type in the word and then we're going to customize the letters, especially the letter G and the letter R. But of course, we're going to have to take care of the letter A as well. So we could in corporate this this negative space effect right here. Okay, So first thing this time I'm gonna dio is I'm going to create a new art board for me to work with. So I'm going to simply go to the art abort tool and then I'm gonna click this new our board bottom right here to create on our starboard just like that and in the layer spent all I'm simply gonna create in your layer and I'm gonna call it redesign just like that, and I'm gonna go to the type tool right now because I want type in the name of the company . So I'm simply gonna type in angry. Um, just like that. Let me just make it, make it make it bigger so you can see it all better. And for the fund again, it's called Morro. And let me just show you what are the things that I want to customize about the phone that you just make it bigger. So the first of all, I want to get rid of this This hell that the letter G is standing on. I don't like I don't like hell this, like, with letters. Got heels? Yeah. Wow. And then I want Oh, simplify the letter. The letter R right here. So we are going to get rid off these waves right here off. Let me just make it off these waves right here. And of course, we're going to have to get rid of the bar here with the letter A so we can incorporate our our negative space negatives trip negative space treat. Okay, so let's start with the letter G and the letter R and off course to do all that we need to convert our and live tax in tow outlines. So I'm simply gonna click. I'm going to select it. Of course I'm gonna click right click on it to get access to this dialog box. And I'm simply gonna go create outlines just like that. Of course, this is These guys are group, so I'm gonna un group over all of them. So let's start with our G and the letter R. So with the direct selection tool, all we have to do is to simply grab this anchor point and simply move it to the left to somewhere Here. We could always hold down the shift key to make sure that our transformation is constrained . Maybe that's just the 2 march. Let's bring it to the to the right. Just like that. And with the letter R, where we want to do is you want to drag around this laughed path just like that, and you can see that we got a direction. Handle it right here. So what I'm gonna do is I'm simply gonna click on it and bring it to the right. Just like so. This should be fine. And with this guy with this thesis curve, what I want to do. They want to select this anchor, but and I want to move it slightly to the left to somewhere here. And then again, I want o move this direction handled to the ride. So if you if you hold on and hold down the shift key, you will constrain this transformation to 45 degrees. In this case, well, 2 to 45 degree increments. I'm simply gonna let go. Just like that. And there we go. We got our letter are customized. And the next thing to do would be to take care of the letter A and then create our negative space tree. But that is something we're going to do in the next video. 56. Let's create the negative space effect: now that we have our letter G and the letter R customized that where we have to do right now is to take care off the letter A. So I'm gonna simply zoom on it. And what we really want to do is we want to have this kind of a tray a triangle effect right here. So I'm going to simply select this anchor point this anchor point. And this anchor points on simply selecting the ankle points that make this a triangle right here. And then I'm going to select this anchor point, this one, this one and this one. So now I have select. So now I have selected these three anchor points right here and these anchor points that make this kind of a, um, kind of a polygon down here, and what I want to do is I wanna remove them from the shape. So in the control panel, I'm simply gonna go remove selected anchor points just like that. And now what we want to do because we want to create our our tree Negative, negative, negative space tree effect. Let's call it like that. So we take a look at the original. We can see that the shape off this tree kind of looks like a leaf at the same time. And it's pretty easy to do once you know the right technique. And we are not going to use the Chantel. So all you panta lovers are gonna be disappointed this time. But I hope you will love detecting that I'm about to show you. And it's a really, really easy one. And it's a great one. So let me just go back to my redesign, Okay? So what I want to do right now is they simply want to create in the lips. And I'm gonna make sure that it's simple white, and I'm gonna create it somewhere here, some holding down the shift and the old keys together on a Mac. You'd hold the option of the shift keys together to make it something like that. Now, on something gonna move it down to somewhere here. This would be fine. And what I want to do right now is I want to convert this top anchor point. This anchor point is top one here that I want to convert it from smooth version. I want to convert it to a corner point. So again, in my beloved control panel, I'm simply going to select this option that says converts a locket anchor points to corner . So if you just click on it, you can see that we just Well, we almost got our shape created. If you want to go with this, one will be my guest. But what I want to do right now, that one is simply again collect this anchor point and simply drag it up, Holding down the shift key somewhere here. This should be fine. If you want, you can make this tree smaller. Bigger. You can play around this anchor point and make it go a bit up. Oh, are a bit down. But I'm gonna leave that up to you. What I want to show you. I want to show you that technique to convert the anchor point and then simply move it, move it straight up to to achieve this kind of a lethal or treat effect. So, really, the last thing to do here is to simply select the rectangle tool and simply create a rectangle just like so maybe maybe something like that. This should be fine. And what I want to do right now is I want to make sure that that my tree is actually cutting my bottom, my underlying shape. So it's not just white being put against the black background, but it's actually cutting my shape to to form the treat. And so for that, we're going to use the ship. This time. We're not going, going to use the Pathfinder told this, and I'm gonna show with the shape builder tool, but that's something we're going to do in the next video. 57. Let's add colors and finish the design: in this video, we're going to finish our negative space design using the shape builder tool and to access the shape builder tool. All we need to do is to simply hit a shift and on our keyboard. And this is this tool right here. We can see it in our tools panel. And what we have to do is we have to tell ill Strayer which shapes we want to be working with. So I'm simply going to drag around these guys. So I'm gonna tell illustrate toe work with these shapes. And as you can see, wherever I hover my Shelby a shape builder tool I can see these of bars or checkers appearing and underneath underneath my arrow. And of course, I got this little plus symbol appearing next to the arrow. So now wherever I click and drag, I'm gonna tell illustrated to join these shapes just like that. So now Illustrated, just joined. Just joined this shape. Well, united it so it now looks like like a tree. But that's not actually well the finished effect, because what you want to do right now is you want to subtract this shape from our from our underlying shape. So where we simply need to do is we need toe hold down the altar key or option if you're on a Mac and as you can see, the plus symbol turned into the minus symbol. So now we're going to subtract this shape from the underlying shape. And really, all we need to do is we simply need to click on it. And there we go. We got our negative space effect created. Now the next thing to do is to make sure that all these guys are distributed properly so that the spaces between them are are equal. So that's actually what we're going to do right now. So again, I'm simply going to select all these guys. Make sure that my my letter A is my key object. And in the align panel, I'm simply gonna find the right value for it. Let's see. 44 should be fine, of course. Mathematically the space between the letter A and the letter G R. Four pixels, but optically well, they are not optically, it's not for four pixels. It's It looks like it's way bigger, right? So what we could do to make it look like we wanted to look, we could make him on a group out of this girl Huma letters. So I'm just simply gonna go control or command. Gee, if you're on a Mac group, these guys, I'm gonna add to my selection my negative space. A I'm gonna make this guy Mikey object again. And this time I'm simply going to go with zero picks list. Let's let's see, that's maybe even too much. Zero pixels is to march. Yeah, let's see. Minus two, maybe even just a bit more. Maybe minus three. Okay, that should be fine. And not really the last thing to do used to simply add the proper color. So this guy will be, will be brown. And this guy will be green just like that. And there we go. We got the logo redesign. So what we did with our redesign was we customized the font, so it customized the letter g. We customize the letter R, Then we customized the letter A because we wanted to add this negative space effect right here. So we achieved this effect simply by using the Ellipse stool and some simple transformations. We converted the top anchor put and then moved it up. We created the tree with the shape builder tool. And then we subtracted it from the underlying a letter. A and, of course, to finish the whole effect. We took care of the spacing and the colors as well. So I hope you like the design. I hope you like toe the shape builder tool. And I hope that you will experiment with it as an alternative to the Pathfinder tool. And as usual, I see you in the next design. 58. Let's start the project: in this project, we're going to recreate and then redesign this granted bank logo. And if you don't know the company, it's a Turkish bank, one of the one of the biggest banks in Turkey. And actually it's a bank listed on the global 2000 Forbes list, so it's one of the biggest companies in the world as well. So for this project, first we're going Teoh, recreate this. Logan's the original logo, and then we are going to redesign it to make it look like this. Let me just quickly explain what we are going to be doing in this project. Well, first of all, we're going to recreate this simple to the laughed, and it's a good good incentives, a good example to show you and how you can utilize how you can use the three D rotate. A fact should you want Teoh create a three D logo without or be rotated logo without the need of using the perspective griddle, which is but clumsy and not as flexible as the three D rotate toe. So we are going to definitely learn how to do that, and, of course, we're going to add to the great in. We're going to add the gaps on and then in the redesign part, we're going to create create this symbol. We are going to keep the shape idea, but we are going to will take it on the next level, so to speak. Well, one of the one of the purposes of the this project is not only to show you the three d effect, but also to show you two ways of creating a heart shape. And in this case, in the redesign part, we're going to learn how to create a heart shape. Well, actually, this whole mosaic with just two shapes, of course, we're going to learn some nice transformation, So we're going to use the shape, older tool, but the base off this off, this whole structure of this whole mosaic is just two shapes. And when I say most sake, I mean, when I was thinking about the redesign apart, I kind of got inspired by the by the mosques Mosaic. I mean, I was always amazed by the symmetry by the precision. The mosaics in the mosque so are were created, and I thought that would be great. A great idea to incorporate it in this redesign part. So of course, first we're going to start with the recreation part. We're going to create these hearts as well. We're going to rotate them and them in the three D space, and we're going to divide them at the grading. And, of course, we're going to add the text now. The closest free alternative to this phone that I found is called Oxygen. And of course you got it. You can download it freely on the on the Web or from from the link that I've provided you with and in the redesign part, we are also going to go the oxygen of fun. But we are going to make all the letters capital, because that's something that have been that I like lately just to use the capital kind of a standing out funds. So yet that's why I chose that. Okay, so without further ado, let's let's move on to the recreation part. Let's let's start with the with the heart shape with one of the ways to create a heart shape. But let's actually do that in the next video 59. Let's start creating the heart shape: So in this project we're going to start the recreation process, and we're going to start with the creating this main heart shape. And of course, before we start doing that, I will create a new art board. So I'm gonna go to the art of war Tool click on the creating artwork. But unlike so Angie's creating you are bored like that. And in the layers panel, I'm simply gonna old or option. If you want click click on the Greek you layer button and simply call it. Um, let's call it Garanti Just like that. Okay, So, as just as I just mentioned, we're going to start with creating a simple, simple heart so that zoom and maybe a bit and this way uses the then and the Ellipse Tal and the Ark Tool. So first we're going to create in the lips. Then we are going to create 1/2 a half a lips half circle out of it and then create the ark to So let me just grab the Ellipse tool right here from our tools panel. Not something gonna hold down the shift key to create in the lips. So it looks something like that is just plain black ellipse. Now what I want to do is I wanna with the direct selection tool simply delete this bottom anchor points. So it looks like this, right? So I just selected the bottom anchor Point deleted. And if we go to the outline when you consider that we gap this half circle just like that created now when I gonna when I'll grab the Ark tool. What I want to do is I simply want to click on this left anchor point and drag Joe somewhere here. This should be fine. Okay, Of course. Now I need to join both these. Both these shapes are simply going to select both of them. And I'm just gonna go control J on my keyboard. I think I'm gonna make it black. Just so you concede better just like that. Of course, if you want, you can always play around with this direction handle. So if we marquis around this this path with them with the direct selection tool, we can simply move this handle just a bit up to make the heart shape look a bit smoother. Or you can, of course, play to play around with it to your liking. So the next thing to do is to simply reflect this this half half, half heart shape to the right. But not only reflected, we also want to copy it at the same time. So that's as easy as initializing the reflected by pressing the Oakey on the keyboard. And I'm simply gonna holding down the bulky click on this bottom anchor point. Of course you'd you'd hold down the option key on a Mac, and I'm gonna click on this bottom anchor point. Let me just preview this guy. Of course, I want my reflection to be vertical just like that, and I'm gonna go copy, just like so. And if you want to go with this kind of a heart shape, well, feel free to do that on What I want to do with it is I want to make it just a bit different . Just so two looks a bit more like the original. So if that's something that you are interested in, a just keep fortune 60. Let's finish the heart: in this video, we're going to change the looks of this heart a little bit. And remember that in the previous video we created this heart using the Ellipse Tal and the Ark tool. And then we reflected this half to the left half to the right. And now what I want to do let me just quickly zoom and just like that, what I want to do is I want to move one of the house. Well, actually, the right half to the left. If you want to go with the left half and move it to the right, just just just be my guest. So I'm just gonna move this guy to the laughed. And what I want to do right now is I'm simply going to select all these guys with the selection tool and in the Pathfinder told I am simply going to go with the divide function just like that. And of course, I don't need these bottom paths right here. So with a direct selection tool on him simply going to shift, click on them to select both of them and simply delete them just like that. And of course, I would eventually unite all these, all these shapes. So I'm simply gonna go. I'm going to select them with the direct selection toe innocently gonna go with the United function in the Pathfinder tool just like that. And there we go. This is one of the ways we could. Well, actually, we learn to ways of creating a hard right. We simply reflected the left part to the to the right, And then we move. So that was the first way. And then we moved the right part to the left and then just played around with the with the divide function to make the heart look like that. Of course, if you wanna you wanna play around with it, you could to simply move this bottom part 22 the bottom, or maybe a bit up a leave it up to you. I think I'm gonna go with this with this kind of a heart shape. But of course I am not done yet. What I want to do right now is they want to divide this this heart in half, and then I want to rotate it on and create three copies. So that's what I'm gonna do. I'm simply going to go with the with the rectangle tool. And I'm simply going to create a Iraq tango. So it looks something like that and there's another nice little tricked it to check how how big of the gap is going to be simply by making this and this a rectangle white just like that. And when I align all these guys in relation to each other, I mean a lot on these guys to the center. I could not see how big eventually this gap is going to be, and I think I'm going to go with this with this kind of a gap. So I'm going to select both these guys and then I am going Teoh, choose the minus front command in the Pathfinder tool just like that. So there we go. We altered toe the heart shape with just just a few simple transformations. So we moved the right part to the left, divided and then united it her with the Pathfinder tool. And lastly, we created this gap right here again with the Pathfinder tool with a little bit of help from the from the rectangle tool. So in the next video, we are going to rotate and create copies out of this off this heart. So we're gonna we're gonna create a three copies to make it look like the original. And then we are going to play around with that with the three D rotate effect. And I am pretty sure that this is something that you are all wearing for, so you are going to get it in the next video. 61. Let's explore the 3D rotate function: in this video, we're going to create three copies out of this heart. We're going to rotate it to make it look like the original, and then we are going to rotate it, but this time in three D space. So let's start with selecting on this hardship this divided heart shape, and I'm gonna initialize the rotate told by pressing the R key on my keyboard. And I am simply going Teoh Men, click the old Click or option click if you're on a Mac Songer down here just like that, and we want to have eventually four copies off our heart, and we want them to be rotated in equal distance to each other. So that's as easier, simply type of in 3 60 then dividing it by the total amount of copies that we want to have and in my case is four. So I'm just gonna go 3 60 divided by four, and it's gonna be 90 because that's God's four times nineties 3 60 So I'm just gonna go. I'm gonna hit copy just like that. And as you can see right now, my heart is touching. My heart are touching each other. That's that's I don't know. It's kind of hard starting each other is just a title of a cheesy romantic comedy. Well, the Valentine's Day is on its way. It Zen less than a month. So I guess it would be a good a good movie title for it for a Valentine's Day for Valentine's Day. Yeah. Yeah. Okay, so but I don't want it to look like that. I don't want these hearts to be touching each other. I'm not that that romantic. So I'm simply gonna go. I'm gonna undo this change. And the way I mean, the reason those hearts were touching Where that the lower the transformation origen the rotate origen we place on, the bigger the gap we're going to create between the hearts. So again, if I go with the rotator, well, you can see my previous reference point right here, So I'm simply gonna go even down here. Maybe. And let's just see what it looks like. We already know that we need the 90 degree angle values. I'm just gonna go copy, and I'm going to go controlled the or command the honor, Mac to create copies just like so what? So the command d we are We are duplicating the last transformation. And in our case, it was It was, well, rotating and copying at the same time. So as we can see the lower we established the reference point of this transformation, the bigger the gap is going to be between our hearts. So the last thing to do here is to simply group all these guys, I'm going to select them and I'm simply going to group them maybe on make just a bit smaller, just like that, and I'm gonna group them. Okay, so now that we have our hearts created, the really last thing to do is to simply rotated by 45 degrees. I'm selecting it with the with the selection tool and I'm simply going to holding down the shift key rotated by 45 degrees, just like so, just so it looks like in the original. So now that we have our our base for for our local created way, we can now explore their three D function and the to apply in a three d effect to our to our shape, willing to go to the effect menu and go three d rotate this is this guy the last on the list right here? So I'm just gonna go because I'm just gonna hit, rotate, and let me just quickly explain how all these, all these values, these angle values a fact your your artwork, your shape in this room in this In this case, let me just quickly click the preview function right here. So whenever you hover over one of these functions, you can see a little tool tip that says that if we alter this this guy, we're going Teoh, we're going to change the rotation around the acts axis with this guy, we're going to rotate our shape around the why access and with this guy, we are going to rotate it around the Z axis. But if you're if you're not a fan of just simply clicking this and these values cause you actually don't know what it all means, that's asked. So you can simply go to this cube right here. And you can see that whenever you Khobar hover over one of these adjudges, you can see them being highlighted. So that means that whenever you hover over it and click and drag, you could actually rotate the Cube just like that. And you can see the corresponding access value changing in our in the panel right here. So when I over when I hover over some one of these bottom matches, I couldn't simply move this guy like that. And I can go crazy, crazy, crazy with it, just like so. So if you want to go that crazy to an explorer, this function in this way and just be my gas it's really a lot of fun to play around with it, But you can You can get kind of stuck with it once you just want toe play around and you are don't know actually what what you are doing. But I guess it za good way to explore this three d rotate function. But let me tell you that I think the option that really makes this kind of this kind of effect work is this perspective value right here. So remember, Well, maybe you are familiar with the Microsoft logo. It's ah, it's a flat logo, but it kind of looks like it's in three D space, right? And then the way to make it look like it's kind of a Microsoft logo is that is to actually play around with the with the perspective tool. But I think that this is something that we are going to in the next video cause I don't want stuff. Too much information in just one video. I want you Teoh. Today just off the in. Focus slowly. So in this video that we summarize it, we rotated the hearts, we could copy them and then rotated them. And we explored the basics off the three D rotation. But in the next video, when I show you the perspective value, you're actually going, Teoh, I hope you're going to have this. Ah ha! Moment. So you are going to really grasp what this whole function is about? 62. Let's adjust the perspective: So in this video, we're going Teoh, recreate or create the final effect that we are looking for. And we are going t o we're gonna need the perspective value for this. And if I just start to increase the perspective value, you can actually see that our hearts are starting to look like they really are in the three d space of the bigger the value I create here I enter here on the more rotation I am applying. But remember that 1 60 is the maximum value here at as a rule of thumb, usually 100 suffices. So I'm simply gonna just Theo the y axis rotation. And if I just bring it down just a bit more, maybe to minus 45 you can see that we are actually starting to make it look like we want. So any logo that you have, or any shape that you have and you wanted to you wanted to be flat also look like it's in a three d space. So this is the best way to do. You don't need to the perspective griddle, cause actually, it's It can be clumsy at times, and you would need you wouldn't get that much flexibility as you get with the three d rotator effect right here. So play around with this rotation with why Axis rotation right here. And it kind of looks like it's rotated horizontally, but it's actually rotating around the vertical access. So I'm simply gonna leave it at minus 45. And I'm going to leave the perspective at 100 just like that, and I'm gonna hit, okay. And of course, what's great about this feature is that it is that it's a still life effect. So if I go to the to the appearance panel, I can see my three d rotate effect applied right here, and I can still change it, change it toe until it looks really, really how I how I wanted to look. So I'm just gonna hit okay, just like that. And of course, it's sensitive. Still live effect. And if I don't want it to be alive effect. All I need to do is I need to go to the arm check. Manu and I need to go with expand appearance so it's no longer alive, a fact, but it zone the fact that eventually is going to be my well, it's gonna be my final effect. So in this video, we learn to the power of the of the three d rotate. The fact we learned how to rotate this, how rotate shapes So they look like they are kind of like a Microsoft Microsoft logo. So we learn toe the importance off the perspective value, and we'll learn that usually 100 100 degrees work best. And in the next video we're going Teoh, we're going t o do a few things with this with shape before we can apply the Grady int to it. So if that's something that you're interested in, just keep watching. 63. Let's add the gradients: in this video, we're going to finish our design. We're going to finish our recreation process and we are going to add the greatest. And we are going to add the tax before we can actually add Grady INTs. We got to do a few things. So we just show you what's what's gonna happen if we start at Ingredient right now. So if I just go to the Grady int a panel, I'm gonna apply the great and you can see that it's actually not what I am looking for adult and advance because, as we can see in the control panel, first of all, this is this is a group, and the three D rotate, in fact, applied a clipping mask to our to our shape. So this is why we are seeing this kind of a greater effect being applied to everything right right here, because it's being applied to our hearts, but also to the shape that it's a collecting our our hearts. So before we actually apply great into our hearts, we need to go to the object menu clipping mask, and I'm gonna go release just like that. And now I'm going toe on group. All these guys and we can see that we are can actually now get rid of this off this ship there was making our clipping method. There was clipping our shapes and now we got he got separate, separate group just like that. So it's just our hearts. And now when I add the Grady int, you can see that I'm just applying, applying great into to my heart's and the great int time that I'm looking for is a little radio radiant in this case, and I'm going to start adding colors. So I'm gonna add this well, this black or very, very, very dark green color and I'm gonna add this lighter green just like that. But of course, right now, illustrator is applying the same grade into each part off of our hearts separately, and this is not something that we want. So I'm just gonna grab the Grady int tool. So I'm just gonna hit G on my keyboard, and I'm just going to try to find the right the right value right here, so we can just Maybe that's that's not that's not it. So again, we could we could play around with it with the whole afternoon trying to find the right ingredient angle. And I'm gonna I'm gonna leave it up to you. I just want you to understand that in order for this technique toe work, we need to first unclip or release the clipping mask on group. All these guys released the shape. It's clipping our our hearts. And then we can freely add Grady INTs without warring that we are going to add a the Great into something that we actually didn't want. So the last thing to do here is to simply at the taxed some simply going to click somewhere here, type in the name of the off the bank, just like so I'm gonna make the phone bigger and the font name. As I mentioned before, I think in the first video it's called It's called Oxygen, and I'm gonna go with the Volt version of it. And again, this is the closest free alternative that I found Teoh the original phones. But I think that it kind of looks nice. We can leave it. We can leave it just like that. So there we go. We got our our logo recreated. Of course, we could play around with the shape of the heart whole afternoon with the Grady, it's maybe with the rotation. The whole purpose of this re tradition process man was to first show you how we can easily create a heart. It was actually we learn to ways to easy ways of creating their heart. And then we learned the power off the rotator effect in illustrators. So these two things I'd like to be your take weights takeaways from this project to ways of creating the heart and the way to make the shape or local like this guy, um, be rotated in three d space. So in the next video, we are going to start redesigning our logo and we're going to learn another way to create the heart effect. And then we're going to would trust me again. I know that I know that I tell this a lot, but I really believe that the things that we're learning are really easy. But the effects are really great and powerful, so we're going to learn an easy way to create a very symmetric very, very beautiful. I think hard that will allow us to create this kind of a fantastic most sake. That kind of looks like a clever like a four leaf clover, I think. Andi, we are going Teoh make it look like it's a It's a mosaic and we're going to, of course, at the text. But the text will be will be the same answer with without recreation port. But we're going to make all the funds, all the phones, capital or the letters capital. So if that is something that you're interested in, just keep watching. 64. Let's start the redesign process: in this video, we are going to start our redesign process. We are going to start with creating a heart. Then we're gonna transform it, give it colors. There's some really, really cool things about it to eventually make it look like a like a mosaic. But before we start doing it off course, we need to We need to create what we don't actually need to create the actual need to create it. But I'm kind of a purist, and of course I want you to be. I wanted all this all these videos to be easily digestible for you, so I'm just simply gonna gonna creating our boat eso with with the audible tool. I'm simply going to creating artwork just like that. And again, I'm going to create a new layer I'm gonna name at redesign. Maybe this time, just for the sake of variety, this thing's gonna be redesigned, and I'm gonna go to my to my article it just assuming like that. And the first and kind of important thing to do here is to create the first ellipse, but not just to create it, like, freely created. I want to be want to be precise about the size off it and you'll you will understand why in just a second. So I'm just gonna grab the Ellipse tool. I'm gonna click anywhere on my keyboard and my my aren't boards and I think I'm gonna make it 50 by 50. Let me see that. Maybe just a bit too much lead Still little Let me make it 75 by 75. Okay, this should be fine. Let's not go with that crazy with our lips that let me just make it Let me just zoom in just a bit. Now that we have our ellipse and it's 75 by 75 the next thing to do is to create a rectangle so again and my rectangle will actually a square and my square will be will have the same dimensions as my lips. So it's gonna be 75 by 75 just like so And maybe maybe let me make this ellipse Let me make it a different color just like so. I mean, let me bring it to the front. So now what I want to do is I want to make sure that both these guys are aligned properly. and that they kind of like I that they kind of like stacking on top of each other. So I'm gonna go to the align panel. I'm gonna make sure that the horizontally aligned to center, but then I want vertically aligned them to the center so they look something like this. Now what I want to do right now is I want to move my circle somewhere here. And if you want to just just leave it like that because you are relying on the smart guides stand and just be my guest. You can do that. But I want to show you a technique off precisely moving the circle so we can be absolutely sure that the left and the right ankle what are perfectly aligning with top left and top, right anchor point off our of our square on underlying square. So that's as easy as simply selecting. Well, I'm gonna just select a deal live so you could select the rectangle, but I think it would be easier if we just selected the deal lips. So what I want to do is I want to move it up. I want to move my lips up so I'm just simply going to double click my selection tool. And of course, I don't want my lips to move horizontally. I want I wanted to move vertically. So the way this works is that whenever I enter a positive value right here, I'm going to move it up. Negative value is gonna I'm gonna move it down negative value is gonna move it up just like that. And right now we can Well, we will understand why I'm entering equal or entering numbers. Will values for the height and width was so important. Remember that our that our ellipse and our square where 75 pixels high and told So I'm just gonna enter that value right here. So, as you can see, I am moving my lips mind by by the height of itself, let's put it like that. But of course I want to move it. I want to move it up something I'm gonna enter miners just like that. And the trick here is to move it not by the by the whole by them, but by the complete value off the height, but by half off it. So the anchor points the left and right ankle point are actually right on top of top and left anchor point off my square. So that's as easy. It's simply divide in this this value by two just like that. And we are no, absolutely 1 million% sure that these anchor points are actually on top off each other. And if your ellipse in your square and have some different values like, say, I don't know, you wanted to go a bit crazy and you wanted to go with 1 11 why not 1 to 111. So all you really would need to do is to simply answer then value and then just divided by two to make it to make it move and to make it move like that. But of course I wanted to I wanted to go up and I wanted to go. And by the half of them of value off the height values, I'm gonna go minus 75. I'm gonna divided by two and let illustrator do the do older have a lifting for me, and I'm just gonna go. Ok, Okay. So now that we created the Ellipse we created, we knew what the actual and height and worth values where we created the rack tangle. What we can do right now is we can play around with with shape, builder Tool, but that is something we're going to do in the next video. 65. Let's create the symmetrical heart: So what I want to do right now is I want to simply have this top part of the Ellipse separate and this rectangle separate as well. So that's as easier. Simply click on the stop part of the Ellipse with the shape builder tool just like that. And now we can see that we have simply three separate pieces just like that. So let me just cut this guy, delete this guy and simply based this black square in front. So the next thing to do would be to simply rotate both these shapes and then reflect them to complete our heart heart shape. So before I do that, let me just quickly make these guys group because I want to apply this transformation to both these guys. So the rotate tool active and I'm doing a making it actively person the R key on the keyboard. I am simply going to click on this anchor point. I'm gonna alter click on this anchor point and I want this rotation to happen on by 45 degree degree angle. And I'm simply gonna go OK, just like that. And now what I wanna do. They want to simply reflect this this shape this half hard, actually, Believe it or not, it's half heart to the right. But this time, if I just initialize the the reflect tool by pressing the okay on the keyboard, I want to reflect this guy by this ankle ports. I'm gonna old click on it just like that. And I wanna reflected vertically. And this time I am going to hit copy just like that. So with the scene, with the simple transformations, we created a heart that is in perfect symmetry. I think it looks I think it really looks nice. And it's a great base to start adding the gaps between the green parts and the black parts of between the green half circles and the black score. But this is something we're going to do in the next video. 66. Let's add the gaps: So in this video we're going to create the gaps between our between our half circles and our and our square. And we are going to do that, not with the Pathfinder tool. We are going to use the pat friends or told to divine to the Black Square later on. But right now we're going to create the gaps between these thes circles, have circles and the square, and we are going to do that with Seller with the scale tool. But before we do that, let me just make sure that all these guys are ungroomed and we have one square right here, so I'm just gonna delete it. So what I wanted to right now I want to simply select this square, activate the scale toe by president, the asking on the keyboard, and then I'm simply gonna go old. I'm gonna old click on this bottom anchor point like that. And if I just scale it down uniformly, I can simply make this guy just a bit smaller. So maybe 94% 94% should be fine. So I'm just gonna go OK? And what I want to do right times I want to make sure that these ellipses are perfectly aligned with my square. And we're not going to use the online toe again Are going to use this scale tool, some simply going to select this half circle like that. And I'm simply gonna alter click here on my thighs. Bottom anchor point and the transformation the scale in is gonna be uniform again. And the value is gonna be the same as as with our square. So I'm just gonna click, OK? And I'm gonna do the same with this This left half circle just like that. Now, these simple transformations we created a gap and we we made sure that they are all in perfect symmetry. So the next thing to do here would be to create a gap between I mean to create the gap Sort creates a will tour triangles actually did left and to the right. So before I do that, let me just bring out the guy. Ah, one vertical guy. So I'm gonna go control are on my keyboard. Teoh, bring out the rulers and I'm simply gonna drank a while. Roulette one A guide just like that. Now what I want to do, right now is I wanna make sure that the gap between these these two eventual triangles is gonna be the same as the gap between the square and the circles. So what? I could do it. I could simply measure the distance between this square and the circle. And we could do that in, well, two ways. We could simply create erecting that I would go from this path to this path. And I'm simply holding down the shift key to create a square, and we can see that it actually let let's not split Harris here. Let's just leave it at. Let's just assume that it's three pixels just like that. And the other way would be to simply go to the matter toe right here and by pressing the shift key on my keyboard. Simply measure measured the distance between these guys just like that. And you can see that in our panel that it actually is showing us different values, actually, a bit bigger right now. It needs a lot off a lot of tweaking to get it right, but let's say that it's actually 33 pixels just like that. So this is what I'm gonna do I'm gonna create erected on the grab it from my tools panel. I'm gonna click anywhere on my art aboard and give it three pixel with. And the Hyde would be still s a 1 50 Why not? So I'm gonna make it white. So I'm simply gonna sample this white color that with the eyedropper tool, and I'm gonna bring it over here just like so. And you can see that how How our guard is actually helping us t establish if our rectangle is actually right here in the middle, in the middle of our square. So right now that out that I have my rectangle position properly, I can actually create the gap between between my triangles. So it actually is a gap, not just white rectangle put against a black black score. But this is something we are going to do in the next video in the next video, we're going to, of course, and the colors and finish our finish, our design, we're going to transform the heart so it looks like a like a beautiful mosaic 67. Let's finish the mosaic: So in this video, we're going to create the gap to create. We're going to create triangles that that that have a gap between them. Then we're going to add the colors and then we are going. Teoh, rotate this well. These two halves of a of a beautiful heart. Beautiful, symmetrical, hot. So remember that what we have to do right now is we have to simply click this this rectangle and then add to my selection of this thistle rector, this square, this black square and in the Pathfinder tool what I simply need to do is I need to click minus front, commander. So I got a group right now as we can see the control panel panel because remember that the result of each path final transformation is a group. And what I want to do right now is I want to simply give these guys these guys proper colors. So what we could do is we could simply on group thes two triangles, and I'm gonna select both these bodies elements and in the swatches smile. I'm gonna give it this beautiful, dark green color. And these guys are gonna be this latter green color So right now, what I want to do is I wanna simply group all of them. So I'm just simply hitting control, Joan, my keyboard and the fact that we have our guide bar out brought out here is actually going to help us in creating the whole mosaic effect. And let me show you how so what I want to do right now is I want to rotate thes thes. Um, well, these shapes or this thing whole group three times. So I have four copies Interval. So I'm gonna grab the rotate tool and the lower we go on our guide, the bigger the gap is going to be between our hearts. But there's a There's another purpose off this guy right here. I mean, if we have the guide right now, and if we aligned it properly with our initial rectangle, we now can be sure that the transformation is going to be perfectly, perfectly symmetrical. So the lower we go on our guide, the bigger the gap is gonna be. I don't think I wanted to be too big, so I'm simply gonna go. Maybe somewhere here And the transformation that way are looking for is actually quite simple. All we need to do is we need Teoh enter 3 60 divided by four, cause that's done that that's the total amount of copies we wanna have. If I just hit the tab key, we can see that that we are rotating our heart by 90 degrees. So I'm just gonna hit copy just like that. And then I'm gonna go control or command D if you're on a Mac to create this kind of this kind of a mosaic. But again, if you want to go lower on the guide or higher on the guide, it will simply make make the distance between the parts off them of the four leaf clover, bigger or smaller. So, again, with the record with the rotator selected this time, I'm simply gonna go just a bit up. Maybe somewhere here and ago again, I'm gonna rotate my heart by 90 degrees it copy and then just go control controlled so you can see that with just a simple tweak. It was simple reposition in the reference point on our on our died, we can actually make the mosaic look a bit bigger, but still it is in perfect symmetry. So, really, all that's left to do now is to simply add of the tax. So let me make this guy just a bit smaller, and I'm gonna simply type in the name off this off this company just like that, I'm gonna make significantly bigger and the name of the fund. Of course, this oxy oxygen and we're gonna go with Well, I am gonna go with with the with only the capital letters just like that. Okay. And there we go. We got our our logo redesigned. I really hope you enjoyed the design. And if you have any questions about the design, if you have any doubts because I know that we covered a lot just post a discussion. Just just ask and I will be happy to answer it. But before we finish this thing this project let me quickly summarize what we learned. So first in the in the reader recreation in part two, we learn to the well, actually two ways. How to create a heart. Remember we created in the lips and then with the arc tool, we created the heart, Of course. Then we learned that the powerful three D rotate told weary. You learn that the importance of the perspective function. And then in the redesign part, we learned another way to create a symmetrical heart. Just with the ellipse tal the rectangle and the shape builder tool, of course. And then we created the gas with the scale tool rotated it everything to make it look like a beautiful, beautiful mosaic. So again, I really hope you like this design. I really hope you enjoyed learning learning from from this project. And again, if you have any questions, this feel free to ask and as usual, see you in the next design. 68. Let's sum what we've learnt: So you did it. You made it through the course. You should congratulate yourself on the occasion. I hope you had as much fun learning from it as I had from creating it. So let's just quickly see what we've learned in the course we re created and redesigned the Chevron logo. We learned how to quickly and effortlessly create the chevrons. We added ingredients to create the shadows and globe's. We redesigned it without the radiance. We added this kind of layer effect on Lee by creating a gap between parts off the chevrons we re created the M R logo. We learned how to quickly create a triangle out of a rectangle. We rotated it to make it to look like race, and we played a bit with the with tool. Then we redesigned it to keep in the race. Although we made them a just a bit bigger, we drastically changed the color scheme and made a font a bit smaller. Then we had lots of fun with Synnex logo will learn how to quickly create swooshes by transforming ellipses with the Pathfinder tool and the transform effect. Then we redesigned the logo in the material design style. We learned the powerful and found to play with envelope distorted fact to make the rectangle kind of weave around the lips. After that, we re created that Pissarro logo. We'll learn how we can manipulate the Grady INTs effect by dividing shapes first at ingredients to them and then visually unite them to get a different grading in the redesign apart. We got rid of the Grady Inst, retained the race and with a simple trick, which was adding a darker path in the bottom, we added, is shadowing the fact with the Oxy local. We learn how to create a weaving illusion simply by playing around with the humble ellipse off course. First we added Grady INTs. But in the redesign part, we added a simple a three D effect just by playing around with the colors with the capital one local. We learn how to create swishes now at the panto. But with the arc tool, we learn how to easily cut shapes so they perfectly match the shape we're cutting with and in the redesign apart, we'll learn how to look for effects actually waiting to be discovered in the latter's themselves. And after that we re created this beer bank logo, we'll learn how to use the Great and Mashtal, how toe ad match points and how to make the transitions even smoother with the eyedropper tool. And we went a little crazy with the redesign part. You remember the pyramid tree. Remember the Chabon's creating process and how we drop them with the Pathfinder tool. Now with a green logo, we primarily learned to the negative space effect. We created a tree with the simple lips transformations. We also customize the fund a little bit, which is a hallmark of a professional designer. And the Durant local recreation process allowed us to explore the three D effect called rotate. We played around with the rotation and with perspective to get the effect we were looking for. In the redesign part will learn toe one simple way to create a heart shape Onley by using the rectangle and the ellipse and we to that heart and created kind of a mosque mosaic. So thanks again for joining me in this course. I hope you had fun watching it as much fun as I had creating it. If you liked it, please leave an honest review. Join our discussion board where I am always happy to answer your questions. And I hope to see you in summer Some of my other courses where I teach design, Web design, logo design and flat design as well. So thanks again. My name is David Tyminski.
