Emma Jane Shaw

Hobby Artist

Hi, my name is Emma Shaw and I’m from Australia. Currently I am living and working as a in in Canada with my boyfriend.

I’ve been drawing since I was little; art was always my favourite subject at school. Growing up I considered pursuing a career in the creative industries but fear, lack of confidence and competitiveness got in the way of that. So I pursued other things; I was a dance instructor for a time, did some travelling and volunteering, and went to university, all the while bringing out the old sketchbook every now and then to draw.

Since coming across Skillshare I have rediscovered my passion and joy for making art, developed the confidence to branch out and try new medium, and realised that art is an inseparable part of who I am. It’s also taught me that whether or not I am making art for myself or someone else, whether or not I earn money from my art, I must always love and enjoy making it. Now I am truly happy and excited to be learning not only as a student of Skillshare but as a teacher as well!
