About This Class

Hello and welcome to “3 Minute French - Course 7” The aim of this course is to make French accessible to anybody regardless of age, educational background or "aptitude" for learning. This course leads on from "3 Minute French – Courses 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 and 6" and new language structures are introduced to enable you to communicate in more situations when on holiday abroad.

My method for teaching French is simple but effective. It works for anybody, no matter what your requirements. I have been teaching foreign languages for over ten years and I’ve taught a wide range of students of all ages and backgrounds, including students with learning difficulties, so I know my method is accessible to absolutely anyone, with no exception.

With this course, it’s almost as if you have your very own language tutor at your beck and call. Take it with you wherever you are and have a quick listen to one of the lessons whenever you find yourself with three minutes to spare. You will be amazed at how much your language skills will develop after just a few minutes a day of study. You will start to learn the French language in a simple, logical and fun way.

You will learn a variety of words that you will learn to put together to form sentences that will be useful in any visit to France or any other French speaking country, and you'll learn how to put the words together to form sentences, saying exactly what you want.

PROGRESS TO THE NEXT COURSE

Once you have completed this course, if you would like to learn more French using the same method, you can wait for course 8 (coming soon!) or find my other French courses. Here are the links:

Additionally, I have a series of French courses called “Building Structures”. These courses use the same method found in the 3 Minute French courses, but they focus on building fluency by looking at the different structures of the French language. I recommend starting these courses once you’ve completed up to 3 Minute French – Course 3, and then you can work through both series simultaneously. Here are the links for the Building Structures in French courses on SkillShare:

Finally, if you want to explore the French language even further, I have some French grammar courses available. I’ve used the same method in these courses as I have in the other courses, so hopefully you’ll find them fun and interesting

French Grammar – Quick Guide – Verbs 1

Success in French Grammar – The Past Tense (aka the present perfect)

If you would like to learn a different language, I have the same courses above available in Spanish, German, Italian, Portuguese and Dutch. Just head to my SkillShare profile page to find them all: https://www.skillshare.com/user/3minutelanguages

1. Course 7 introduction: Boesel, a bienvenue Hello and welcome to three minute French course seven. By now you're more than familiar with a method that we've been using in courses 1 to 6 off three minute French on this course is no different. Remember to keep your learning such a short chunks in order to maintain enthusiasm, to make learning into a habit on toe. Happy to memorize things much more easily. This course, as always, contains nine lessons. Lessons 54 to 62 and we'll be learning lots of new vocabulary, different structures. Andi, some more grammar that we can add everything that we've learned so far in order to build more adventurous sentences that bring us closer to fluency in French, as always, will be recapping everything that we've learned in previous lessons on mixing it. With all this new information this way, you won't have to worry about forgetting things that we learned early on in the courses. So messy. Bokel. I hope you enjoy Onda happy learning. One appointed Taj 2. 3 Minute French Lesson 54a: Let's start this lesson with a quick recap off the words and phrases that we learned in the last lesson. How do you say in French? I couldn't. I wanted Julie. I didn't want I waas Is it a day? I wasn't Gina Taper. I had Javy. I didn't have Genevieve. Some or any money do last June, Not any money Paddles. Now here's your first phrase in French for this lesson. Even evil ver naval. It can mean either are you coming or do you come very evil. So how would you ask in French? When are you coming? Company Veneva, What time is coming? I can't Veneva. I can tell Vinnie View now that we're aware off the two different way to say you in French , the formal or plural on D the informal. I'll tell you that Vinny View is the formal floral version. The informal version is V onto Vnt. So the anti means are you coming or do come when you're speaking to one person? You know very well so what would be the informal way off saying When are you coming? Combi. Aren't you Vnt? What time you coming? I cannot be empty. Akello V into So what will be the two ways the formal and the informal off saying, Are you coming to the beach? The informal would be V into a lap lodge the onto Elop Lodge or the formal or floral way would be Vinnie Vuvuzela, PLASCHKE Vinnie Vuvuzela plunge. 3. 3 Minute French Lesson 54b: What would be the two ways to ask in French? Are you coming tomorrow? Viene chadema the aunt you demand or Veneva Duma? Are you coming with me? To the supermarket? Viene to Or Vinnie Vujovic, More supermarket. She are you coming to Marie's house later? V onto Shemari. Pluta. Oh, Oshima! Hippolyta, Are you coming here? V entry, See? Oh, beneath the sea. Are you coming to Paris today or tomorrow? Vnt, Why do you come to friends? Poor quality and human forms. What forms the weird from is a type of word called a proposition on in French. You should never end a sentence with the proposition. So if you want to ask somebody where do you come from? We have to rearrange it a little. First you would have to put the proposition at the very start of the question on ask from where do you come instead? So in the informal, you would say Do vnt do V anti means Where do you come from? Literally. From where do you come? Or the formal plural version would be. Do Veneva Duvernay view literally from where do you come? But in English, we asked Where do you come from So the French word for From is due spelt d e on the word for Where is when these two words come together? They form from where? Which is due d apostrophe ou So do V anti on Duvernay view both mean Where do you come from ? 4. 3 Minute French Lesson 54c: So we've just seen that the word boo means from where And it's made up off the words do spelt d e on do which means where and when you put them together and you get d apostrophe. Oh, you do? From where? And you use it in French when in English we have the word from at the end of a sentence on the word wear at the start. So, for example, how would you say in French, Where do you come from Nuvi onto or do Veneva so literally. It means from where do you come? How would you ask? Excuse me, where do you come from? Excuse more Do V into Oh, excuse me more do Veneva. So you'll notice that in the first phrase I said excuse more and so excuse more Is the informal way off saying Excuse me so excuse memoir is the former way on Excuse more is the informally. Here's your next phrase in French and it leader nicely from Duvernay is your Viana do is your beyond to it means I come from your beyond do so How would you say I come from friends ? Joviane deforms Joviane deforms. I come from England. Joviane Jovian. Normally, I come from here juvie in D c joviane D c. So you'll notice that the word do Which means from shortens two d apostrophe when it's in front of a vow like we had with Joviane Bomblet there Juvie in D. C. How would you ask, Do you come from here? VM to D C oh, anybody see? 5. 3 Minute French Lesson 54d: How would you say in French? I come from Paris. Juvie on the body is your younger Kathy. I don't come from Marseilles. I come from Exxon problems. Genovian Dixon Problems, June problems. So did you remember how to make something negative in French? Using report New Any in front of the verb on part P. A s after it. So you have young means I come Your VM pop means I don't. Come on. It tends to be pronounced June So just reiterate on daughter because it could mean two things in English is the negative off Jovian June. So June vamper can mean Either I don't come or I'm not coming. Similarly, the phrase Jovian could mean two things in English to it could mean I come or I'm coming. So how would you say in French? I don't come from here. June via Odyssey, Jillian C. I don't come from England, Junior Jinyan. Pat, don't let there. Well, how would you say I'm not coming tomorrow? Junior Madam Junior Fatima. So June Vienne back mean I don't come or I'm not coming. How would you say I'm not coming today? I'm coming tomorrow. You should be so junior, And that could mean I don't come or I'm not coming. Similarly, Juve Young could mean I come or I'm coming on. That's quite a useful thing to note that in French, when you have a conjugated verb. So juvie in, for example, or June grandpa generally it could mean two things in English. 6. 3 Minute French Lesson 54e: in this course, I've included a vocabulary expansion section full off the French words for different countries. I've tried to think of as many countries as I possibly could, but if you find anything missing, then let me know and I'll add it in. As always, there are lots of words in the vocabulary expansion section, but you shouldn't try and learn them all. You should definitely in your own country, But you could also try learning the names of countries that you tend to go on holiday. You'll find that a lot of the countries are very similar in French and English, so they shouldn't be too hard to then Now talking about holidays. Here's your next phrase in English Do let hungy the let hungy It means from abroad. Do let hungy So how would you say I come from abroad? Juvie? In the letter G. Joviane Delaet How would you ask? Do you come from abroad? V onto over Neveu Delight hungy so V and do Onda Vinnie Voo both mean Do you come well, remembering that you make things negative by putting a new Onda part around it. Here are two more negative phrases Nuvi on Cuba. Oh, I live in a bouba and they both mean don't you come. Oh, aren't you coming, Nuvi onto Pa? Never naval power. So Nuvi Entrepot is the informal way off saying Don't you come or aren't you coming on? Duvernay Bouba is the formal Andi PLO away. How would you ask? Aren't you coming to the beach? Nuvi onto Palop Lodge living in Juba Jalape Lage So the s on the end of power. You can liaise with the meaning to so basil a flash or pat Jalape Lage, It's optional. Nuvi onto Plaza Laplanche New Veneva, but a plunge! How would you ask? Aren't you coming tomorrow? Navy on cheap abdomen. Oh, Naval Fatima, aren't you coming with me to the supermarket? Nuvi onto Patrick More marshy, uh, new Naval Pacific coast of Marshy. 7. 3 Minute French Lesson 54f: How would you ask in French? Aren't you going to Marie's house later? Nuvi On Tupac Shemari Puta Nova Naval Passion Maria! Rita, Aren't you coming here? Navy on to possess e never naval policy. Don't you come from Paris Nuvi Onto Padded Barry Noven Evil Pat Deputy, Why don't you come to friends? Aqua Nuvi onto peasant farms. What? Never naval pattern forms. It's not from here. It's from abroad. Sony Dadc say the letter energy Cindy Paigc say they let orgy. Is it from abroad? Excuse Italy 20 s Chrissy Dilettante G that isn't from abroad is French SAS Tony Padilla 20 say francais assassinate badly 20. See, Francie Pierre is from a ruled Pierre. A technology Pierre, eh? The technology Marie isn't from Paris. She's from abroad. Marry Kneepads. L A G marry in a padded Barry led Let Hungy 8. 3 Minute French Lesson 54g: How would you say in French? I'm not from Marseilles. I come from abroad. Junior suite bottom FC Jovian Let energy June sweet batter Maxie Joviane DeLaet Org. Now, if you change the first word in the phrase do let Angie we can get another phrase a little gene A let haji simply means abroad. But literally it means to abroad or at abroad. So if you want to say something like I'm going abroad well, literally in French, you would have to say I'm going to abroad. So how would you say I'm going abroad? Is yours a elect Hungy Juve's Olatunji So literally When you're saying I'm going abroad, you have the same French going to abroad. Similarly, if you want to say Pierre is abroad well, you would have to say Pierre is at abroad. So how would you say Pierre is abroad? Pierre, eh? Electron energy Pierre, It'll atanzi. How would you say I am abroad? Just be a little edgy. Did you Sweet electron Gee so literally I am at abroad. How would you say I like to go abroad? Jim away Let hungy Jim Ali let hungy so literally It means I like to go to a broad. And also I just point out that Jim Ali literally it means I like to go. But in English You're here. I like going so Jim Ali Al it on G could mean I like to go abroad or I like going abroad. How would you ask? Why don't you come abroad with me? Nuvi on to pass a little more? Oh, Bakwa New Veneva Rupa Electron Djorovic More 9. 3 Minute French Lesson 54h: How would you ask him? French. Are you abroad or are you in England? A two electron gee, who ate your longer there? So in this sentence, I've said Jame O J toll. I ate too much. But you could say Jay Toll, Margie. And it means the same thing in French. In fact, more often than not, they will put the toll in between the auxiliary verb on the past participle. So it sounds more French to say Jay Thomas J G 10. 3 Minute French Lesson 54i: just be careful on. Remember that. Do let hungy means from abroad. Whereas at let Angie just means abroad. Leave Akron's Lee vacuums. It means the holidays or the vacation leave Akram's. How would you say in French? I like holidays on literally. You would have to say, I like the holidays. Jim, leave Akron's Jim Lee vacuums. How would you say I don't like holidays abroad and again, literally would have to say, I don't like the holidays abroad. Can I infringe preacher passe in so many see or say in so many See now using the rules for forming the past tense that we learned a few lessons ago. See if you can work out how to say this infringe. I spent two days here with Charles J passe du jour. He see election J passe D joi sey avec shall so passe with an e. R. On the end means to spend on to form the past tense or have to do is take the auxiliary verb J meaning I have. And then you change the where Passy to pass a with an e on an accent. How would you ask in the past, Where did you spend the holidays? Who actually bacilli? Bracken's So in a question in the past tense, you simply invert the auxiliary verb. So after means, have you or did you? Or of evil is the formal or plural version? And then you put the past participle Pass E on the end at two. Pasi means. Did you spend or have you spent? How would you ask? How much is it to spend three nights at this hotel? Say, come beyond the past 20 ascent Hotel se cumbia in the past 20 aside hotel. So the phrase sitcom young means how much is it? And if you want to put a verb on the end, don't forget. You just need a little word. Do say Cumbia de Passy. How much is it to spend 20 Asset Hotel on? We use the word set for this in this sentence because the word or 10 is a masculine noun that starts with a hate. You see a body just Reza Patty Now in French. The words on Onda are can both mean to and they can both mean in. But when do you use which well, it is quite simple. A rule of thumb is that you use the word on when you're talking about a country and you use the word if you're talking about a town, a city or anything else for example, juvie on farms Javaid Alphonse means I'm going to France on France is a country. So we use the word on. So the word all means to or in when you're speaking about a country on your hand, Juve a a party you made that body means I'm going to Paris and so Paris is a city. So whenever you're talking about a city or a town, then you use are too mean to or in Juve, a jalopy scene. So far we've had Jim meaning I like June MPA, which means I don't like and made room which is the formal or pull away off saying do you like and then m two is the informal way off asking Do you like now the good thing about any phrase in French that contains the word like is that you can put a verb on the end of it in English. If you want to use the verb after like you have to put in on the end, for example, I like speaking. Or do you like dancing in French? You can just use the whole bed. So if you want to say something like I like speaking French, we're literally What would have to say is I like to speak French, which is Jim Wylie. Francie Jim Bailly fancy. So after Jim, you could just use the whole verb badly. And you can do this after any form off the verb like in French. So if you want to ask, do you like doing that? But literally, you would just say, Do you like to do that? I m too fast and to Vesa. So there is no way to say ing in French. You just use the whole verb instead. And when I say the whole verb, I mean the infinitive or the that ends in the letters E r i R or R E like Palley ends and er or fair ends in our e. They're both examples off infinitives. So how would you say in French? I like speaking French. Jim Barley Fancy Jim Bali Fancy. Do you like eating French food? M two more Jay Leno Hydrophone says. Oh, Amy Vermont. Jay Leno. Each orphan says, Why do you like doing that? Boca MJ versa. No polka FSA. And don't forget that another way of saying that in French is Sula. So you could say Boca into fair Sola. Now the negative versions off do you like are easy to form or you have to do. Is port no in front of the whole phrase and power after it so far is the singular or informal way off saying Don't you like Andi name Mehbooba is the plural or formal way of saying Don't you like name Cooper and Namie Bouba? So how would you say? Don't you like that? No, Que pasa? Oh no pasa 27. 3 Minute French Lesson 55e: How would you ask In French? Why don't you like Pierre Poke? What name? To Poppaea. Oh, okay. What name? Eboo. Poppaea. Don't you like the wine? No Taliban, no Taliban. Which one Don't you like? Kill? Name Juba. Kill Namie Bouba. So the word gem is I like is your name? Power is I don't like I m a boo Means do you like in the formal or plural? M two is the in form way of saying Do you like No, Mehbooba is the formal or pleura way of saying. Don't you like Andi name Cooper? Is the informal way off saying Don't you like? So how would you ask? Don't you like my car then to Obama What you name a group at my watch. Now if you add the letter l in front of em a boom we get lemon evil So l apostrophe is short for low on It means do you like it? Let me evil. Similarly, in the informal, you will get leme too. Let me to So let you is the informal way of saying do you like it? So how would you ask? Do you like it in Paris? Let me to a party. Let me give you a very do you like it Here? Lend to you. See? Let me brucie. To make those two phrases negative or you have to do is important. New at the very start and part on the end. So Newlin Juba Andi know Lemme bouba both mean Don't you like it? So, um tuba is the informal way Andi new levee bouba is the formal way or the floor away. So how would you say in French? Don't you like it in London? No. Let you pass alone? It means I went and usually you'll hear the s on the end of sweetie liaised with the A at the start of any. So Robert van just we away. You'll hear just easily And it means I went. So how would you say in French? I went to France just easily on France, just we I lay on farms. I went to Paris just recently a party you three. And so in this sentence, we say for two because it's followed by Patty, which is a city so just weaselly at body. Where is in the last sentence? We said on for two because it was followed by a country France. So just was at a conference. So don't forget that, uh means to in front of a town or a city on our means to in front of the country. How would you say I went to Marie's just easily. Shemari is your store easily she marry. I went yesterday just easily. Yeah, just three l a year. 33. 3 Minute French Lesson 56b: So we've just seen that the phrase just with any means I went. However, if you're a woman saying this phrase, then in writing, you need to add an extra E onto the end off Ali to make it feminine. So it becomes Ali spelt a l l e with an accent e. It's pronounced in exactly the same way, So it's only really in writing that you have to keep this rule in mind so just easily with an extra e means I went. If you're a woman speaking, Andi just weasel a means I went. If you're a man speaking, let's make this phrase negative now. Gin, sweet basil juicy. And this means I didn't go Jenna Sweet basil e. So the jury and the no in speaking tend to sound like Jin Jin. Sweet basil E on the S on the end off power tends to liaise with the A at the start of a way, you can say June sweep at Ali, but you will hear more often than not, agency basil e on. Don't forget that if you're a woman saying this phrase, you have to add an extra e to the end off Ali to make it feminine, But you can't hear this in speaking. So how would you say in French? I didn't go to France. Juicy Plaza Leon, France June CPAs Early on forms I didn't go to the beach yesterday. Agency Pozzuoli Jalape Lodge Year agency Puzzle applies year. So we've learned so far that the phrase just weaselly means I went Andi Gentry. Pozzuoli means I didn't go. So how would you say I didn't go to Marseille Regency Pozzuoli a. Massey Gin CPAs, Ali Ahmad We learned a couple of lessons ago that in French, the words on Andi are can both mean to and they can also both mean in. And then we learned a simple rule of thumb. You use arm when you're talking about a country, and you use are when you're talking about a town, a city or anything else. For example, Juve A in France, you're vaison France means I'm going to friends, which is a country. But you've a happily juvie that Barry means I'm going to Paris, which is a city now. If you have looked at the vocabulary expansion sheet for countries yet you might have noticed that most of the countries in French are feminine. However, there are a few which are masculine and a few which a plural. If a country is feminine, you can use arm in front of it to mean to or in as we've already learned. On the other hand, if a country is masculine or plural, you have to use our in front of it to mean to or in whenever years home. The word for the disappears from the start of the country. But when you use ah, the word for the remained in place. Just remember, the old rules are plus blue make Oh on our plus lay make oh Aux So the rule of thumb is you use arm with countries Andi are with towns or cities. But if you have a masculine or a plural country, you have to use up for two or in here are some examples you've a only 20 is your weighs only 20. This means I'm going to Lithuania. Andi Lithuania in French is a feminine country, so we use the word home for two. Similarly, you would use the word on for in. So if you say is just three Onley 20 that means I'm in Lithuania is your sweet only 20. So Lithuania is a feminine country, so we can use the word on you. They are no longer there is your days along with their means. I'm going to England and England is a feminine country. So we use the word on Is your stories on with their is your sweet along with their means? I'm in England and again England is a feminine country so we can use the word arm for in Let's have a look at a masculine country. Juvie Oh, make seek is your basil make seek. This means I'm going to Mexico and it just so happens that Mexico in French is a masculine country. So look, mix seek means Mexico literally the Mexico. And so we have to use the word, uh for to But because we have the word for that which is low the r and become oh au Juve Oh , make sick is your street so make seek just we go make seek This means I'm in Mexico So the word all is a contraction off are on low and it could mean to or in when it's used in front of masculine countries. You've a open. Who is your vase? Open home. I'm going to Peru. So Peru is another masculine country in French. Just be open. Who is your street? So pale? I'm in Peru, and so all can mean two. Or in when it's placed in front of a masculine country. Let's have a look at a plural country. The survey was a Kazerooni is your basil that that you need? This means I'm going to the United States. So Lazy 1000 me means the United States. Literally. It's the states united lazy that you need. And so it's lay, which means it's plural. And we have to use the word, uh, for two on a plus. Lay makes oh aux So you Veysel that does you need I'm going to the United States. Similarly, just we or the Tasman E is your street off the Tajani I'm in the United States, and so later does uni means the United States and all it as uni means to the United States or in the United States. So the word oh can mean two or in when it's followed by a plural country. Now, most of the countries in French off feminine, so you would tend to use home. But just be aware that there are a few masculine on a few plural countries with which you have to use as a general rule, though if you use on more often than not, you'll be right. 34. 3 Minute French Lesson 56c: For these next few translations, you might need to refer to the vocabulary expansion sheet for countries. How would you say in French? I wanted to go to Cape Bird. Julie Away woke up there. Julie's away or cap there. So look up. There is Cape Bird on DSO. It's masculine. So you have to say or cup there too mean to Kate. Good. How would you say I went to Kenya with my sister on Kenya? In French Is another masculine country just easily. Oh, Kenya Avik Massa Just easily Oh, Kenya Avik Massa I'm in Japan today, but I'm going to China tomorrow on Japan in French is masculine whereas China is feminine. Did you see O Japon three Major Vahan Sheen, The mom. If you switch off your phone should be Major Vahan Sheen demon. Now he's useful time freeze that you can use to talk about the past in French Line 18 year Lenny Dania. It means last year. Lanie. Dania, literally. It means the last year because you always have to use the word look in front of it in French. So, Lanny Dania last year. Lanie means the here on Danielle means last so How would you say in French? I went to France last year. Just recently on forms. Lanie. Dona, Did you see that? Leon? France. Lanie Dona. How would you say it was last year? Said they landed in year. Say they landed in year. I couldn't go. Last year, gin poopy Barzani landed on you. Pigeon poo People easily. 35. 3 Minute French Lesson 56d: How would you say in French last year I went to France with my family. Lanie. Dania. Just easily on four months of age for me, Lanie. Danielle. Just easily on phone Savic Math for me. I went on holiday abroad with my parents last year and it was fantastic. Just recently on back owns a let down Djorovic Me Homeland India near a city Fantastic. Just with the lay on back Owns Electron Djorovic, Maple Homeland Engineer A city Fantastic. So, Lanie Dania means last year. Well, we can change Lenny to blossom in on Get last men. Danielle, last amended in year means last week literally. It means the week last blasts men Dan year. So how would you say in French? I went abroad last week for two days just easily, just with a electrons landed near port. Did you? So in this lesson, so far we've had just three Ali or just recently? Meaning I went Agency pasani, which means I didn't go. Lanie. Nine year last year. Onda Last Mendon year means last week. So how would you say I spent three days last week in Paris j past 12. Your last Mendon year. J passe Twice. Your Last Mendon year. A party. I spoke with Pierre last week. J. Palais Avik Pierre Last Mendon Year J Palais Avik Pierre Last Mendon Year. 36. 3 Minute French Lesson 56e: How would you say in French? We didn't eat here last week. Noona. Bam bam O J c. Last Monday? No, I am a J. C. Last year he was here last week, but I don't know where he is today. The lady is Silas Mendon Year. May June is a pop. Well, l a TTC last Mendon year. May June is a pass. Well, I told you so. We've had Lanie Dona Meaning last year. Last Mendon year. Meaning last week. Now, in this next phrase, you'll notice how the word damn year changes slightly. Lumwana. Danny Lim. What, Danny? It means last month, Ramadhani and again, literally. It's the last month. Look wide any but you always have to use the word loan in this phrase in French. Damn. Yeah, Vis is Danny. We've now seen these three phrases landed in year meaning last year. Last men down year. Meaning last week on blue Mahdi Army. Meaning last month. The adjective down yer means last on The feminine version is Danielle, and they are pronounced slightly differently. You'll notice that to make it feminine. Not only do we add an e to the end off Danny, but we put a graph accent on the E in front of the are and what this does is it makes it an air sound rather than a sound. So the feminine down the air is pronounced with an air On the end, the masculine is down. Yay! So learn a down year last men down year. But Lim wa Danny on because the word down a on damn near our adjectives, meaning last they come after the noun. So the noun czar Lanny, meaning the year last men meaning the week Andi Limb wa meaning the month on. Then the adjective comes after them. So Lanny Danielle literally means the year last last Mendon year, the week last, the Mahdi Army, the month. So try to remember that the word month is masculine, whereas year on week are both feminine. So we say Lanie Dona Last Mendham Year put Lim Hwa Danny 37. 3 Minute French Lesson 56f: We've just seen the three phrases Lane Aidan Year, Meaning last year. Last amended in year. Meaning last week. Andi llamada me meaning last month. So how would you say in French? I saw her last month. Did you leave you the Mahdi Army? Did you leave you somewhat, Danny? And so don't forget when you put the word for her which is love in the past. In front of the auxiliary verb, the past participle gets an E on the end. So that's why view hasn't e because the word her is in front of the Oder River is your slave. You llamada me? How would you say? Last month I went to the cinema with my cousins on. We saw a fantastic film, Ramadhani, just easily. Oh, cinema avec Makuza a news avenue and feeling fantastic. Ramadhani Just Visalia Cinematic Makuza in loving you and feel fantastic. So in this lesson, so far, we've had just recently meaning I went. Did you see any? I didn't go Let me down here last year. Last Mendon year last week And Lamar Danny, Meaning last month. How would you say? Last month, Helen visited Pierre in France on they spent three days in neath llamada me Ellen, visit a pier on France A is on past 1200 Ramadhani Ellen, a videotape here in France a is on past 12 0 unece We finished everything last month News of on to Feeny News of onto for me Danny, remember that when you're using the past tense in French, the word to meaning everything tends to come after the auxiliary verb and in front, off the past participle. So literally rather than saying we have finished everything you say we have everything finished news of onto Feeney, the model me. 38. 3 Minute French Lesson 56g: How would you say in French they didn't order anyone when they ate here last month in common in non Paco Monday. Divine Condi's um Monge A See what? Any. So we use do Von rather than duvan for any wine in this sentence because its a negative sentence. They didn't order anyone. And don't forget when it's not any and it's just the word do. So you know, I'm back on Monday. Devon, how would you say last month I worked in Paris, and tomorrow I'm going to work in Marseille. Lumwana. Any Jake tapper gave a party edema Jovita on. Yeah, me too. Mom, if you want to say that you did something a certain amount of time ago in French, you use the phrase Delia for ago. You might recognize the phrase Delia. We learned that it means there is or there are. However, it also means ago. Andi, It's used in a slightly different way in French, in English. We put the word ago after the time phrase, for example, two days ago. But in French, you put Elia in front of the time phrase. So you would say Delia literally ago, Two days. So Ely at do samen Elliott. This min means two weeks ago or even at noon. Ilia Yoon means an hour ago. So just to reiterate Delia followed by a time is the same as saying a time, followed by a go in English. So if you just remember that Delia means ago and you place it in front of the time phrase in French, how would you say I went to London three days ago? Just easily along the A 12 just weaselly allowed under the act Wenzhou. So literally I went to London ago. Three days. Ilia 12 Jewel. 39. 3 Minute French Lesson 56h: How would you say in French? We ate here two weeks ago. News at J. C. Yeah. This men news Appelman J D C. Area I saw Pierre three weeks ago. JV Pierre Elliott Westman JV Pierre Elliott Twice women Marie called an hour ago. Marry happily Marie Appalachia une the word for minutes is the same in French as it is in English. You just pronounce it Min Ute instead. So how would you say in French, the film started five minutes ago. Le film A common say Ilia Cinque Minute the film a common say area san commute. How would you say everything finished four days ago to a Fini haircut for you, Tiffeny Cattle. So little You're saying everything finished ago. Four days toe Delfini Ilia. Katherine. So in this lesson, we've had just easily meaning I went on. If you're a woman, you put an extra e on the end. Although it doesn't change the pronunciation. So just to Danny Gin CPAs Ali means I didn't go Lonny down here means last year. So the word Lenny is a feminine known So Dan year is the feminine version off the adjective . Similarly last amended in year last men. Dania Means last week. Lumwana, Danny Ramadhani eight means last month So damn yea is the masculine version off the adjective for last? Then we learned that Delia means ago and you place it in front off the time in French, reasoning that we say the time first and then ago in French, you say Delia And then the amount of time so easy at this, um in for example, would be two weeks ago. 40. 3 Minute French Lesson 56i: It's time now to practice what we've been learning in this lesson. How do you say in French? I went to the cinema yesterday just easily. Or cinema? Yeah, just easily. Or senior year. We're going to Mexico tomorrow. Lose alone will make sick demand. New Zealand Don't make sick, Mom. I didn't go to the restaurant, but I went to the cinema with Marie and Sophie Regency Bazaar. Or has the home major Swiss away Oh cinema avec marry a Sophie Gentry Plaza Leo esta home Major Swiss Aleo cinema Like Marie Sophie I couldn't go last year because I had no money. Gin prove a puzzle landed in the past I wanted to buy it last week, but I couldn't find my card. Julie last a last Monday near major movie Pat Javelinas Teles Mandan Near major input A pact I spoke with Marie a week ago. GPA Talovic Murray Iliac winsome in J. Pavlovic Marie Ilia Insulin. I saw the film four days ago, but it was terrible. J Villa Film May l A data Ebola. I gave you a film. A category may elect a terry. So in this sentence, we say aleady, which literally means he waas. That's because life in in French is a masculine noun And so we have to refer to it as he so a late date Their regular in English was a It was terrible. But in French you have to say he was terrible. Last year I went to Canada for two weeks with my family on I spoke lots of French. If you just heard the sentence, then you would be hard to tell whether the look in front off Les Les View was a masculine or feminine look. So it could mean I saw her yesterday. I saw him yesterday or even I saw it yesterday. But in writing because you can see there is an e On the end of vu Julie View, you can see that the alert stands for a feminine HLA, which means it means her So Julie Vu when as an e on the end of the view means I saw her Julie View. Yeah, I saw her yesterday in Paris se communion Petite watcher Stay calm. Yeah, une petite. What? You How much is a small car? Jay has a vast stolen on this myth. Jay has a vast Jones stolen on this myth. I have a reservation in the name of Smith. 44. 3 Minute French Lesson 57a: Let's start this lesson with a quick recap of the words and phrases that we learned in the last lesson. How do you say in French? I went we just recently I didn't go. Is unity Battle E Last year. Lanie Dania Last week. Lesser men down here last month. Um what Danny ago? Ilia. And don't forget that in French you put Delia in front of the time phrase, whereas in English, the word ago comes after the time freeze. Now, in the last lesson, we learned the phrase Lanie Danielle, which meant last year. Well, here's the opposite line. A portion Lenny portion means next year. Lenny Portion. So how would you say in French next year? I'm going to Paris. Lanie Portion Juve Apart, Lenny Portion. Visa fee. Last year I went to friends on Holiday. Next year, I'm going to Spain. Lanny DeMya just easily on forms on Vacco's Lenny portion is your raison Espana Lanigan year just easily. Influence of Macron's Lenny portion. Juve on a spaniel. Do you want to visit Paris next year we leave you visit. They buy Lonny Portion. Do visit a parallel. Any portion. Michelle is going to stay at my house next year. Michelle. Various station. What? Lenny portion. Michelle. Various. Stay. Shame. What portion? I'm going to spend the holidays abroad next year. Juvie Passe livre Cons. A little Jay Leno portion Juvie. Pastel evac owns electron Jailani portion. 45. 3 Minute French Lesson 57b: So now we know that Lanny portion means next year. And so you can probably guess what this next phrase means. Less samen portion blossom in portion. It means next week last men portion. So how would you say in French? I'm going to see Marie next week. Juve Bois Marie Less Men portion Did you have were married last men portion? Or how would you say next week I'm going to France. Lastman Portion Juve in France Last minute portion Judaism forms Are you coming to England Tomorrow or next week? My nephew, along with their on the mound will a cement portion v onto On on Latrell Doma will ask men portion I'm in Spain tomorrow and then next week I'm in France is your sweet and a Spaniard imam A pre Lastman portion is your sweet on farms. Did you see on a Spaniard amount? April estimating portion Industry conference. Sophie and Charles are going abroad next week. Sophie A shall want Olatunji. Last men portion. Sophie A shall von Saletan J Lastman Portion. Now the word portion with an E on the end means next in the feminine version off the adjective. Now let's look at what it looks like when it's used with a masculine known Lumwana portion . Lew Moir Pasha means next month. So Moi means month, and it's a masculine known, So we use the masculine version off the adjective portion, so we've now seen the phrases land a portion. Last Men portion. Andi Lamar Portion Lenny. Caution means next year. Last Men portion means next week on no more. Portia means next month. Now the adjective portion means next in the masculine, and the feminine version is portion on there, pronounced as you can hear slightly differently. So poor Sean Portion Portia push in in English. We get the word approaching from the word push on, and you can sort of see if you look in the middle of the word approaching that the word push appears. If you think Lhasa Men portion means the approaching week, then it might help me to remember that Glassman portion means next week Orlando portion, the approaching year or next year. Lu Moi portion the approaching month or next month, so portion is the masculine portion is the feminine 46. 3 Minute French Lesson 57c: How would you say in French? Where you going next month? Over to Lima Portion. Well, if you love potion, are they going on holiday next month? 20 years on the council And what portion? Volunteers on Macron's next month. I would like to visit my family in Germany. Lamar, Portia Juve Dry visiting my fami on Alleman you Lamar portion June visit for me. So in this lesson, we've had Lenny portion meaning next year Last men portion next week. Andi Lamar Portion next month. How would you say we're not going to Portugal this month? We're going next month. Noona. Lampa Oh, Portugal, Someone news alone. Look more potion Nunan pass apart. You got someone New Zealand lamb a potion. Now we've already learned how to say this quite a while ago. Remember that the masculine word is soup Spelled ce on. The feminine word is set spelt c e t t e. Well, now we can use these words to say this week This month Andi this year said samen means this week someone means this month and set any means this year. So because samen on Danny are both feminine in French, then we have to use the word set in front of them, whereas because more is masculine we use the word, sir. So said samen someone and said Honey, Tsunami, know the words for last this and next. This is to a quick recap. Last amended in year means last week said Samen This week. Onda Last Men portion Next week. Um what down the last month? Someone this month. Lim Hwa Portion Next month. Lanny Damn Year Last year. Sit on me means this year Andi Lanny Portion means next year. So now I can use these time wears talk about the past, present and future in French. 47. 3 Minute French Lesson 57d: How would you say in French? They spent the holidays in Germany last year. They're going to Spain this year and they're going to France. Next year is on passe Livre Consul Nahla Manu Lanie Dania You want on a span, your Sidani? I'm coming to France this month. You have young on from someone juvie ins on phone someone. Now here's a useful phrase that you can use to talk about where you live is your beat was your beat. They both mean I live in Andi. You use when you're talking about a town or a city and on when you're talking about a country. So you beat huh? And jab it home. So how would you say in French? I live in England? J beat along with their jab it along with I live in Nottingham. Jab Nottingham. Jab it are Nottingham. 48. 3 Minute French Lesson 57e: remember when I spoke about the difference between on and, uh I said that they both mean to Andi in, but you use arm in front of countries on a in front of towns or cities on then I went on to say that most countries in French are feminine, but a few countries are masculine. The feminine countries are the ones that you can use on with, whereas the mass killing or plural countries need to use Oh spelt a you or all spelt aux Well, when you use the phrase jab it, the same rules apply. For example, jab it on France means I live in France because France is a feminine country. Whereas jab it makes sick J b to make seek means. I live in Mexico because Mexico is a masculine country in French. So we use all au to mean in. So how would you say in French? I live in Canada? Yeah. Pete o Canada. De Vito, Canada. For this next sentence, you'll need to work out how to make the phrase Is your beat negative. So how do you think you'll say I don't live in Spain? Did you not beat Pat on the Spaniard is your not be passed on a span You So you wanna be pop means I don't live So you put the end apostrophe in front of a beat on pat after it So you're Naveed. I don't live. How would you say I don't live in London? I live in Birmingham. Gina beat Barcelona Birmingham. Gina beat Barcelona habitable Mangham. How would you say I live near Paris? Jap eat, Pray the body. Jab it. Prayed the patty. And so in this sentence we don't need to use the word, uh or on. Oh, because we don't say in in English, So jab, it means I live. J beat ah means I live in. But because in this center to say I live near we don't need the word Uh, we need the word for near which is pray So I live near Paris. Jab it Prader Bali Jab paid a Patty 49. 3 Minute French Lesson 57f: How would you say in French? I don't live far from Marcy. Gina beat Juan de Marci. Gina beat Pat Luanda Mcfc. So again, in this sentence, we're not saying the word in. So we don't need to say, uh but instead we're saying, far from so we say Luanda, I don't live far from Marseille Una vita wander Marseille. How would you say I'm living here? J b e c j B c. So, actually, the word jab. It can mean I live or I'm living same in French. So how would you say I'm living in Paris with my family? Now? Jab it. Apari avec my fami mental JB tapa avec moi For me mentally, I'm not living with Sophie. I'm living with Marie. Do not be Pacific Sophie job et avec Marie Gina Bean paddock. So she jab it. Avik Marie. So, Jeb, it means I live. Let's make it into a question and change it slightly every day. View Abbey debut means do you live or are you living everyday view? So how would you ask? Where do you live? Who? Abby table. Whoever debut? Do you live in France? I'd be Dave one phones Abbey Davidoff wants. So Abby, Dave do is used when you're speaking formally or in the plural. If you're speaking informally, you would say instead I've eat too. I beat it too. So I beat it to means Do you live or are you living when you're speaking informally? So how would you ask? Informally? Where do you live? Who are you to do who have it too? Well, How would you ask? Do you live in France? I beat you on phones I beat you to on France. So because I beat the sound and in the letter t a beat on the word to starts with a t. Some people you're here pronounce it as one words. They rather saying I beat too. You're here. I beat too. But most of the time you're here. A little gap in the middle. I beat too. Say I beat it. You're in France, or I did too. In France. 50. 3 Minute French Lesson 57g: How would you say in French? I live in England. Where do you live? Jab it on longer. We will be two to JB Tongeren who will be saved. So in this lesson, we've now had Lanie portion meaning next year Lastman portion next week in what next month landed in year last year. Last amended in year last week In what? The army last month Sidani this year said samen this week Simla this month. Jab it a bit. I live in jab. It can mean I live or I'm living. I beat it too. Do you live? Or are you living in the informal? Andi! Abby Debut. Do you live? Are you living in the formal or plural? See if you can work out. How to ask. Don't you live here? Nobita to Patty. See Narrative Bhupati. See, I live here with my parents. J btc take me home. Jeb Btc avec made a home. I come from Paris but I live in London now. Juvie and Aparri Major Beat alone Momentum, Juvie and Aparri. Major Beat alone Tormenting them. Do you leave me here? I beat the two pi D. C every day. Vou pregnancy. I don't live here. I'm here on holiday. Regina Beef Patty, See, just really see on Bracken's Gina beat apostasy, just PTC on Bracken's. 51. 3 Minute French Lesson 57h: How would you ask in French? Are you here on holiday or do you live here? A t e c o Macron's Who would be too juicy? It was easy on back. Owns do a bit a voici. Now this next word might not seem very useful on first glance bought that Explain why it's very useful in a moment. The word is Dupri, the pre on it means since the pre And you might be wondering why I've given you the word deeply meeting since, but actually in French, it's quite a useful word and we can use it in a very useful way. If you want to say something like I've been living here for three months in French, you make the whole sentence a lot simpler. What you actually say is, I live here since three months. Yeah, BTC The pre memoir J btc, Dupri, Tom Watt. The reason for this is because the English structure I have bean ing doesn't exist in French. So instead of saying I have bean living here, you just say I live here. Jab it. Is he so Yeah, BTC the pre 12 more literally. I live here since three months but it's absolutely English. That makes it a bit more complicated. I have been living here for three months, and in actual fact, when you hear French people speak English, if they're not very fluent, you might hear them say things like, I live here since three months rather than I've been living here for three months because that's how you say it in French. So they might assume that's how you say in English in a similar way. If you want to say something like, How long have you been living here? Well, you say instead, since when do you live here? The pre cum Abby Dave. We see the economy, Dave. We see so literally. It means since when do you live here? But in English, we do make it a bit more complicated on the question becomes, How long have you been living here? I think that it's a much simpler way of saying things in French, but this in itself can cause problems. Very often, your brain will think that you haven't said enough words in French, or it might try and make the French sentence as complicated as it is in English. But don't worry because all that is normal when you learn something new in a foreign language. In some later lessons, I'll introduce you to some very good techniques that you can use to stop your brain from making everything over complicated. However, for now, just learn two or three sentences using this structure, and then you'll start to get to grips with it so you could write these next two sentences down J btc deep reduce. Um, in jab it is. See decree, Dustin men. It means I've been living here for two weeks, although literally it means I live here since two weeks. The next one is a question. The pre call me Dave one forms the prick on Abby debuts on farms. It means, How long have you been living in France? But literally it means since when do you live in France? And obviously you can change the country into a different country or a town or a city on change sentence. So this week, on a bt vewy see, how long have you been living here? Or the African objetivo? Aparri? How long have you been living in Paris? 52. 3 Minute French Lesson 57i: How would you say in French? I've been living here in Paris for two months. Btc, Aparri, The Prix de moire. Jeb UTC Aparri The pre dm one. How long have you been living abroad? The become a beating to electro energy. Do become a bit of well, a Twinkie. I've been here for two hours. Just really see the pre dessert. You see. You see the pre deserve so literally. This means I am here since two hours just we see the pre deserve. But in English let's say I have been here for two hours. How would you ask? How long have you been here? The African HTC Oh, the African at Voisey. So again, literally mistress means since when are you here? The pre car 80 BC. How would you say in French? I've been living in France for four months now. J B conference Different cat. What month? Jeff Burton phones different cat woman's no salutary. It just means I live in France since for months now. So in this lesson, so far we've had Lenny portion meaning next year last men portion, which means next week Lumwana portion next month. Lanigan Yeah, means last year last Mendon year last week. Llamada me last month. Sit on me means this year, said Samen this week. Sim wa means this month J. R. And jab it on. I mean, I live in jab. It can mean either I live or I'm living. I need to is Do you live or are you living in the informal version on every table? Is the formal or plural version off? Do you live? Or are you living the preet means Since on then the sentence Jeff Beatty See, the previous men means I've been living here for two weeks, but literally in front. You just say I live here since two weeks. So whenever you say in French, I've bean doing something you just say I do. So you just use the present tense. So I've bean living here. You just say I live here. Is your btc the pre dustman? I've been living here for two weeks 53. 3 Minute French Lesson 57j: So we've seen that the word Dupri means since. But you can use it to say how long you've been doing something. However, don't forget that. It can also just mean since So how would you say in French? I've been here since last week. Just three e c d. Poulos Mendon year. Just really see the pre last men, Daniel. So literally in French, you say I am here since last week. Just three e. C means I am here the pre last Monday near since last week so really could think Whenever you see the phrase I've bean If you're still there, then you the same French. Just three, which means I am. So if you say I've bean here since last week well, you're insinuating that you're still there. So you'll say just we we see the pre less Mendon year. I've bean here or literally. I am here since last week. How would you say we've bean a brewer since last week? New storms Olatunji, Duplass, Mendon Year. Newsom's Electron Jay The protests mundane here so literally it means we are abroad since last week. Now a useful thing that we can learn in this lesson are the days off the week in French. We can use them with the word Dupri to make some new sentences on. They'll go nicely with another phrase that we learn later in this lesson. So let's have a quick look at the days of the week in French. Landy. Landi can mean either Monday or on Monday, so you haven't got to use an extra word in French to say Landy. If you want to say on Monday, Maggie Maddie means Tuesday or on Tuesday. Maddie Mecha G Math Cookie Means Wednesday or on Wednesday. Mech Honey is your d means Thursday or on Thursday. Judy. See you notice. So far, they all ending letters. D I, Landy, Maddie, Method E Judy on the d. I is actually from the Latin word meaning day Vonta d Vonta d means Friday or on Friday. Sandy. Sandy is Saturday or on Saturday, Sandy and then the last one doesn't have the letters D i at the end, but it does have him at the start. Diminish game off means Sunday or on Sunday. Diminish. So remember that in French you don't have an extra word for on if you want to say on Monday . On Tuesday, you just say Monday or Tuesday. Landi, Maddie Mech Ready, Judy, Vonta OD, Sandy Diminish. And actually the days of the week do come from certain words. For example, Landy Landy comes from the French word loon, which means moon. So Landy is the day off the moon. Lune de Moon Day on in English. We call it Monday. Landy. Mandy. Well, Mark is actually the planet Mars. So Mahdi is the day off. Mars or Mars is day in English. We call it Tuesday, which comes from to Who was the God off war. But in French, it's Martyrsday. Landy was Moon Day, Maddy Mars Day. Macaroni is Mercury's Day, Mecca D in English. We call it Wednesday on That actually comes from a knoll Germanic word. War dinners, which means mercury. And so we do. Call it Mercury's Day in English as well is your D? Judy is Jupiter's day. So the day off Jupiter in English was a Thursday, which is actually the day off. Thought so. Thought was day. Von Hadi in French is the day off. Venus von caddies and Venus is day in English, we say Friday on the fry part comes from the Germanic word frig or Frager, who was the Germanic godless off love. And that's the equivalent of the Roman goddess Venus. So in English, Friday is the equivalent to Venus is day and in French Vonta. T, then some D Sandy in French is the Sabbath, Day 70 in English, Saturday actually means Saturn's day. So the day off Saturn and then finally diminish de monts means Dominica's. On dso de March is Dominica's Day, which is God's day in English, we say Sunday, and so we say the day off the sun. So Landy, Matadi, McCready, Judy Vonta, the sandy diminish are the days of the week in French. 54. 3 Minute French Lesson 57k: We've just seen the days off the week in French, Landy, Mandy, Mecca, de Genie, Vonta od Sandy on demand Onda. We also learned that the days of the week in French can be translated in two ways into English. For example, von body can mean either Friday or on Friday. Another thing to note about the days of the week in French is that they're all masculine. What that means is that we have to use the words down near to me last on Portia to me next in their masculine form. So, for example, Matadi, Danny Malady Donny means last Tuesday or Matadi portion Maddie Portion means next Tuesday the deep ocean. Now, if you put the word Lou in front of any of the days of the week or literally, we get the Monday or the Tuesday because look means the put. In actual fact, Landy is translated into English as on Mondays. So by putting low in front of the days of the week, we may hit on and then an s on the end. So on Mondays is Landy so meaning all Monday's every Monday. Lombardi on Tuesdays, Lameck Adi on Wednesdays, Leisure D on Thursdays. Live on candy on Fridays, bluestem D on Saturdays on Lady Marsh on Sundays and some friends you don't important s on the end. You just port Look in front in English, out to put an s on the end of the day of the week. So if you just say Dimanche, it could mean someday or on Sunday. But if you say le Dimanche, it means on Sundays. Finally, there's one more thing we should learn about the days of the week before we can start building some sentences. If you put the phrase to lay in front of any of the days of the week and you put an S on the end of the day, then it means every what? Every day you're talking about. For example, to lay Landy to lay Landy means every Monday, because to lay means all the and we have to make the Day of the week plural by putting an s on the end to lay Landy every Monday to lay Maddie every Tuesday to lay Makurdi every Wednesday to leisure D every Thursday to live on honey every Friday to lay sandy means every Saturday Andi to lady moments means every Sunday. So to lay literally means all the so to lady March literally means all the Sundays. But in English, we say every Sunday. 55. 3 Minute French Lesson 57l: We've just seen that you can put the phrase to lay in front off any day of the week and make it plural by putting an s on the end and then it means every in English. So Julie Landy means every Monday. Well, we can also, at the words matter, or swear to the end of these phrases toe add morning Andi evening, respectively. For example, to lay Sandy Matalon to lay Sandy, Madam means every Saturday morning to lay sandy matter Andi to lay sandy sua to lay sandy sua means every Saturday evening. So just noticed that the day of the weakest floral. But the word Mathon and swat are not parole. So let's just take the word MEChA g meaning Wednesday. Andi recap all the different things that we can do with it. So Mecca lead by itself could mean Wednesday on Wednesday. Mac, Daddy, Donny Last Wednesday. Make a deep ocean Next Wednesday, Lemack Candy means on Wednesdays to lay macready means every Wednesday to lay make sandy Mathon means every Wednesday morning and to lay make for the swat means every Wednesday evening. So the day the week by itself just means the day of the week in English or on the day of the week. We can add the words Danny or portion to mean last on next and we add them to the end. We can put the word look in front of the day of the week and that means on on then the plural. So Lameck Hadi on Wednesdays. But you don't at the s on the end, in French, you can put to lay in front of the day the week on, make the day, the week plural on it means every and then you can add the ways marathon or swat to the end , and it means morning and evening. I would write all those down on a cue card just so that it can start to get familiar with them. How would you say in French, we're going to Paris on Wednesday? News alone. A party Macready New Zealand Aparri Make honey Onda a natural fact in French. More often than not, you'll hear them use the day of the week at the start of the sentence. So you're probably here Mercante news along the body, which means on Wednesday we're going to Paris. How would you say Thursday is good for me. Is your d a bomb from one Judy haven from war? I'm sorry, but next Saturday is not possible for me is your street. There's only me, Sandy Portia. Naples Civil War. Just three days really make some deep ocean in a purpose even more. 56. 3 Minute French Lesson 57m: We've had quite a lot of words in this lesson so far. This has recap them. We've had Lenny portion next year. Last men portion Next week. Loom a portion next month. Let me down here last year. Last men, Dania last week. Ramadhani means last month. I said, Honey, This year said Samen this week Sin wah This month, Jovita or a bit on mean I live in jab. Eat it can either mean I live or I'm living. I need to is Do you live? Or are you living in the informal? Is Do you live? Are you living in the formal or plural? The pre means since Jeff Beatty see the previous min I've been living here for two weeks. Mecha d can mean Wednesday or on Wednesday. Mac, Lady Daphne. Last Wednesday. Make money Portion next Wednesday. Lima Candy on Wednesdays to lay Makani every Wednesday to lay McCready Matalon every Wednesday morning to a mechanic swat every Wednesday evening. How would you say last Tuesday? I went to Marie's house, but she wasn't there. Married at me, just with me married Anne. Just misery. Shemari may in the tip. Allah, I go to the cinema every Wednesday evening with my friends Jovito Cinema to lame. Actually, sua havoc made me Juve a cinema Tulane, actually. Swap me. I'm at home on Fridays is your sweet shame. What? LeBron Connie, you sweet shame. Well, I've already Are you going to Paris tomorrow or next Sunday? I leave you a path edema with the march portion about you about edema with the most pushem . Do you want to eat at my don't use the evening the Q Moon Jae Shin one malady swap. 57. 3 Minute French Lesson 57n: we've learned the days of the week in French. In this lesson on, we've looked a bit at what we can do with them. So I've included a vocabulary expansion sheet at the end of this course, which includes days of the week, months of the year seasons. Andi, also some important dates. Here's your next word in French. Juska you Scott. It means until Juska. So how would you say in French? Pierre is here until tomorrow. Pierre, eh? See? Juice Katima Pierre NTC GIs Katima. I am here until next week is your sweetie see? Juice callus. Men portion you sweetie. See juice callus Men portion. Now the 40 looking phrase Juska means until, and you can place it in front of any times. Andi also places, but because the phrase Juska ends with the letter A with an accent, which is a well, then it follows the same rules as any time you use a meaning to or at when you place it in front of the words Lou Andi Lay, Can you remember the two rules? Plus makes all and our plus lay makes oh spelled aux well. The same rules apply to Juska. If you put Juska with le it becomes is your school with an AU on the end. J. Scott Plus Lay makes juice co with an aux on the end. For example, just we we see just come. What? Portia just really see. Just go my portion. It means I'm here until next month. Because next month in French is Lumwana Pasha. And when you say you Scott, look, my portion. The juice Cotler part becomes is you school. Just really see Just go More potion. So how would you say we are not going to France until next month? Noone Alan, pass on forms. Just a portion. No, not on pattern phones. Just got my portion. I am here until tonight. Is your sweetie see? Just gas. A swap is your sweetie seizures gusta swahr. 58. 3 Minute French Lesson 57o: in French. The word until can't go at the end of a sentence. It's over this next sentence What you have to say is until when are you here? So how would you ask In French, When are you here? Until she's got going on A TC just got at UCC so literally. Until when are you here? How would you ask? When are they in Paris? Until just got gone. Santi's about? She's got going. Santi's that body so literally, you say, Until when are they in Paris? How would you say I worked here until the fifth off December? Well, to translate this sentence will need to know the months of the year in French. So in French we have John V, which is January February February Math march. I mean April May is May is you are is June three is July. What means August? Sit down, huh? Is September Dhaka is October. No bomb. Hood is November. Andi, This arm, huh is December. So jean via February. Math Green May is wrong. Three. Good September, October, November, December. It was one thing to point out, and that's that the month off August in French is put but you will hear people pronounce it without pronouncing the T on the end, so you'll hear both suit on. And if you want to give a date such as the fifth of March or the 19th of September or you have to do in French is right Luke L E followed by a number followed by the month. So the fifth of March in French, you say look sank mass loose. Thank mass. So you haven't got to put the t hate like we do in English. You just say loose. Thank math. The 19th off September would be DISN F set Tom Ladies Neff September So in English you say the 19th off September Although you don't always right the off in French You to say the 19 September ladies Neff said Tom, the second off April would be loader Kathleen Luda Half will, which is literally the 2 April. The only exception to this rule is when you want to say the first off the month in French. You have to use the phrase lapa me for the first. For example look remain Obama, let me know vom in number form per me is written as the number one, followed by E. R. It's sort of like the equivalent to the English one s t, but it's still pronounced Lupo me lip remain Obama the first of November. 59. 3 Minute French Lesson 57p: in French. When you're using dates, you don't ever have to say on the So if you want to say I'm going to France on the second of May, you simply say I'm going to France. The second of May Juve conference leader me, you may unconsciously do me, which literally means I'm going to France. The 2 may. So how would you say in French? I worked here until the fifth off December. Jay, you see, Just go sank The somber J J A. C juice Co sunk the somber. So we say, is you school Because the fifth of December is sunk. December Onda the A on the end of Juska links with the look for the and it becomes yusko. J J C Juice Co sank the samba. How would you say we're going to France on the eighth of April next year? New Zealand's on France Luisita friend Lenny Portion news alone on France Louis that friend Lenny Portion. We spent the holidays abroad from the 28th of June until the fifth of July Lose a passel Cons electron J do van withdrawn. Just go Sandri News of unpassable Consulate on J d. Even withdrawn disco Sandri. So in this instance we say Do van you eat for from the 28th Because the word for from in French is due on the 28th is Look, van, you eat And don't forget that dirt plus look becomes due So news even passe Livre Consulate Sanjay do value it drunk is you score Sank is really a The months of the year in French are masculine just like the days of the week where so if you want to say things like next January or last January, then you can use the masculine adjective portion on Danny. But there is one little extra thing to remember in French. If you want to say in a month, you have to use a little word on for in for example, on GE on Jeeva is in January on September on set down her means in September. But you also have to use the word on If you want to say last May or next February in English, we say things like last August I went to Paris. However, in French, you have to say in last August I went to Paris. So whenever you use the months of the year to say when you did something or when you're going to do something, you always have to say in whatever month. For example, on John Via Push on on June V, a portion means next January, but literally it means in next January on September, Tell me, on septum had any means last September or literally in last September. Now this might take a little getting used to, because it's different to how we say it in English. Here's an example sentence. Last May, we visited my family in France. You will say in French on May Daphne News, even visiting my family in France on May down a news, even visit a my for me in France. So we have to say on me, not just me. So on. May delineate means last May now, because we use arm in front of months of the year. It means we also have to change the phrase Juska slightly. So juice cap means until we can say things like, Gee Scott doma did you scatter man? And that means until tomorrow, However, if you want to say until with a month of the year, you have to say is use. Gone instead, for example, just on me. Just call me Means until May. So you replace the A in Juska with E n or on Just come. I hope that's clear, but don't worry about it too much if you forget it. For now. The more you practice, the more you'll remember it. Let's have a look at two example phrases just gone septum. Madani. Just concept on her. Danny means until last September or you've gone from pushing, Just going to run portion means until next June. 60. 3 Minute French Lesson 57q: So just to reiterate what we learned in the last section the phrase juice gone plus a month means until a month. So we use juice gone rather than you school. How would you say then? I'm not coming until April. Jundi MPA is just gonna really Jean Valjean pot just gonna win. I'm not coming until Monday June Vamper Juice School Andy June Vamper Juice CO Landy So when it's days of the week we say is you school when it's months of the year, we say is you scum. But that's only when the month comes directly after until in this next sentence were here until the fifth of November. The word until is followed by the fifth. So that's what would come after. And so if it's not a month that comes straight after, until then we can still use you. School is only when you have until on then the month that you use just gone. So how would you say we here until the fifth of November? New some cc you score sank on Obama newsome cc Just go. Thank no bomb. Pierre is here until 10 o'clock. Pierre, 80 c j p s a C J Scott Diesel. So in this lesson, so far we've had Lenny portion next year. Last men pushin me next week in What? For Sam? Next month. Let me Down Here is last year Last Mendon Year last week. Lumwana on Me last month. Sidani means this year said Samen is this week Someone means this month. Yeah, beat on a job it on. I mean, I live in jab. It means I live or I'm living I mean to do you live or are you living in the informal abbey table? Means do you live or are you living in the formal or probable? The pre means since J btc Priddis um in I've been living here for two weeks. Literally. I live here since two weeks. Matadi means Wednesday or on Wednesday. Make Adidas me last Wednesday. Make a deep ocean next Wednesday. Lameck Fadi on Wednesdays to lay macready every Wednesday. Tulane academia every Wednesday morning to lay macready sua every Wednesday evening, Juska means, until the 20 samba could mean the third of December or on the third of December, permeate the samba means the first of December. On the first of December, I was wrong Mean is in June on Monday, Ami last June on Drum Portion next June and just Conde Stomper means until December. 61. 3 Minute French Lesson 57r: How would you say in French? I went to Italy last August, just recently in Italy, on route Danny just recently on it. Andy on you. Tell me, do you want to go to Spain with me next February? Virtually on a Spaniard, Marc on 15 a portion I believe, was away on a Spaniard more on 50 a portion. Now this has been a very long lesson, full of lots of little intricate things to remember. Let's make this our final phrase on Viacom's own backrooms. It means on holiday or on vacation on vacuums. So how would you say in French, When are you going on holiday? Come back to you in back rooms? Konta lives on Bracken's I'm on Holiday. Did you see on Bracken's is your three tackles? I'm going on holiday Juvie on raccoons is your raison Macron's. I'm not going on holiday this year. Jundiai pattern back on Sit on me June. They passed on by Constant Honey. Why don't you come on holiday with us to friends? Mokwa Navy onto pattern because at noon, Poke what? Living in a group at the concert, the canoe informs I've Bean on holiday for two weeks. Registries on Malcolm's The predestination just comes Dupri. This men 62. 3 Minute French Lesson 57s: How would you say in French, we're going on holiday abroad News. Alonso back Owns a little edgy New Zealand tobacco. Where are you going on holiday? Over to overcomes who live with Americans. Pierre is on holiday until next week. Pierre Macron's Juice Callused Men portion. Pierre Tom Back owns just callosum in portion. Pierre is on holiday until next Tuesday. Pierre, come back. Owns juice camera. Deep ocean Pierre Tobacco's is just come out of the potion. Pierre is on holiday until May. Pierre had gone back. Owns just on me. Yeah, I don't becomes Just got me. I was on holiday until two days ago. Macron's on back owns you so easy out means ago And so we can just use Delia after Juska you, Scott the ad usual until two days ago. Now this lesson has bean full off very persnickety information. So I thought I would just do a quick recap to make sure it's all clear. Let's start with the word decree. So the pre literally means since But you can use the word Dupri with Jeb eat to say how long you've bean living somewhere or with the phrase just sweet to say how long you have bean somewhere. For example, J beatem phones in the pre 12 more Jeff Burton phones to pre timewa means. I've been living in France for three months. Just really see debris. Sanka. Just really see the pre Sanka means I've been here for five hours. Literally. I am here since five hours. Just really see debris Suncor. So if for now you just learned the word Dupri with the phrases jab eat Andi is your sweet Then you won't go far wrong. 63. 3 Minute French Lesson 57t: leisure do last women the days of the week. So to go over the day's the week. I'll just use the day for Thursday, which is Judy to show you all the things that we can do with it. So Judy by itself can mean Thursday or on Thursday. Judy Portia Next Thursday. Judy. Danny means last Thursday so you can put portion on Daphne on the end of any off days of the week. Look, Judy Ligety means on Thursdays. So if you put look in front of the day of the week than it means on on then the plural day in English. So on Thursdays. Too late, Ginny. Two leisurely means every Thursday so you can put to lay in front of the day of the week in French and make it plural by putting an s on the end on. Then it means every sotu leisure d every Thursday. And then you can put mata and swab on the end. So we get to laser DeMatha, which is every Thursday morning on Day two, Leisure de sua every Thursday evening. And then let's look at Juska so most of the time we use juice cap to mean until, for example, juice. Katima is you Scatter Mom, which means until tomorrow or just commodity juice. Commodity until Tuesday. But when you have a month, then we change it to juice. Gone, for example. Just gone wrong. Jeez, guns run. Which means until June Lynn What? Dulany les model Any the months of the year when you want to say in with a month, you should say home, however, on is used much more frequently in French than in is used in English. For example, On Stepped on her on September Means in September is use concept on her just concept means until September on, said Tom. Proportion on septum Proportion means next September, literally in next September on September, definitely on September. Danny means last September or literally, it means in last September. 64. 3 Minute French Lesson 57u: It's time now to practice what we've been learning in this lesson. How do you say in French? No, I've done it now Set of Delhi puffy sido then a puffy. This hotel is perfect 68. 3 Minute French Lesson 58a: Let's start this lesson with a recap off all the words and phrases that we learned in the last lesson. How do you say in French next year? Lanny Portion I live or I'm living in Jab it? Or maybe it was a bit on this week. Sets, um in Do you live for? Are you living in the plural or formal? I'm Dave you Do you live? Or are you living in the informal? I beat, too. I've been living here for two weeks. J. Btc The criticism in since the pre this month. Similar next week. Let me down here Wednesday on Wednesday, Macungie next June or is wrong Pushed on last June on John Devaney until December. Just go on this somber the third of December on the third of December. The 20 songs last week Last two men down here last month, Ramadhani. This year, I said Honey last Wednesday. Make Adidas Me in June, Zhuang every Wednesday evening. Tulane actually swap next Wednesday. Make a deep ocean the first of December on the first of December. Look for me in the samba on Wednesdays lament funny every Wednesday to lend extra G Every Wednesday morning to Lay makes a DeMatha and let me just point out something that I forgot to mention in. The last lesson on that is that days of the week and month of the year in French don't have capital letters, so in English, report data the week in capital letters on months of the year in capital letters. But in French, they have lower case letters, and so, in this example, Wednesday has a capital W in English, but Mecca D has a lower case M. 69. 3 Minute French Lesson 58b: I wanted to start this lesson with an extra bit of information. Toe add to the last lesson in the last lesson. We saw the following three phrases I said, Honey, sit on me. Meaning this year, Lenny. Damn year, Lenny Done? Yeah, meaning last year. Onda, Lenny Portion Lanie. Push in meaning next year. So you might have worked out that the wood any means year. However, there is a second word. Oh oh, it's spelt a n, huh? So let's look at money versus home now. Usually you can just use any for year, as we've seen in the example phrases that we've been learning. However, when you want to say how many years, then you'll have to use on instead or the Pearl on Spelled A N s. For example, Ilia Design Elliott is, um, means two years ago, Delia Deism. So let's just reiterate that on means year when you're counting years or saying how many years? So how would you say in French? I've been living here for three years. Jab it. See, the Preet was, um, Jeff Beatty. See, the Preet was, um so literally. I live here since three years. How would you say, five years ago I was in Paris. Delia Sank Jetty Aparri Julius ankle jaded about last year was fantastic. Learn a damn year. It's a fantastic Lanie. Dona a a fantastic How much is it for two years? Si com? Yeah. Say come. Yeah. It was for one year. Say they put on said they know. 70. 3 Minute French Lesson 58c: hopefully now the difference between arm Andi any is clear. So you use home If you're saying how many years on Danny is used for pretty much anything else anyway his a useful phrase in French s Chrissy s Chrissy it means is it s Kasey. So how would you say in French? Is it good? It's conceivable. Excuse able. Is it here? Let's go State. You see, It's the city. See? Is it for me? Excuse people more Excuse it from one. Is it good for me? It's Cassie Bone from one. It's just a bunch. So s Kasey Means is it on its very strange but very useful phrase. If you dissect the phrase s Cassie, you won't like what you find is made up of four parts a e s t. Which means is sit ce which could mean it Or this cu q u e meaning that and then see, which is it Is essere Kirsi s Chrissy so literally? If you say excuse a bomb you're saying is it that it is good? However, it's best not to think of it like that simply Ellen s Kasey, as is it. You can use it in the same way as say, But just when you're asking a question instead when you see it written down, it looks quite complex. But when you pronounce it, it seems quite easy s Chrissy. So just think. Whenever you use C, you can use SPC to turn it into a question. For example, Simone means it's good. Excuse Ebow. Is it good? So how would you ask? Is it delicious or terrible? As you say this year with Ebola Excuse a D Lister Hotel able. 71. 3 Minute French Lesson 58d: How would you ask him? French? Is it too big? It's because they talk. It's just a talk on Is it more expensive in Paris or in Marseille? Isco See Lucia Excuse a plu share apathy. Is it good or bad? Excuse a bond movie. It's was able movie. So in this lesson, so far we've had the new word on which means years. And you can use that when you're saying how many years and then the phrase s Chrissy means is it now if the phrase s Chrissy means is it we can change the state part on the end on make it negative and we get s Chris nee Ba excuse Nipper means, isn't it? Excuse Naper? So how would you ask? Isn't it very good? Excuse in deeper trouble. Excuse me, Patrick, isn't it here now? Discussion a party. Semen. Excuse anybody. Seaman's No, isn't it? For me? Is good any more? It's Ghazni. Pepe more. Isn't it good for me? Excuse. Any problem? Excuse Any problem? Isn't it? At P s house. Excuse me, Pasha. Pierre Escorts Amoeba shape here. Isn't it too expensive? Excuse me, Patricia. It's good to meet Patricia 72. 3 Minute French Lesson 58e: So s Chrissy Means, is it excuse Naper means, isn't it? And now we can put the phrase s Chrissy in the past tense on we get s Chris City. Excuse It means Was it excuse City? So how would you ask? Was it good? It's the city ball. It's just a table. Was it there? Excuse It is Kasich. Ella, was it for me? It was a table. More excuse a tape or more. Was it very expensive? Excuse that they fresh air. It's good that they share. So far, we've had, um which means year when you're saying how many years Excuse e means is it Excuse Knippa, isn't it Onda Esseker city means Was it on this last phrase? Was it? Weaken turned negative and it becomes escorts in the paper. It's good in the deepa and it means wasn't it? Excuse in the deeper So how would you ask? Wasn't it very good? Exclusivity? Patrimony is Christianity Patrimony! Wasn't it there? Excuse in it. Escort sanity. Pyla, How would you ask? Wasn't it for you? Excuse in the tape. O s Chris Nitti, Papa. Now you might have noticed that the phrase Esseker appears in front off the last ball phrase that we've learned. All we've done is put some words on the end of it. We already knew the four phrases say so. Knippa said they Andi Sin Atiba on putting Esseker in front of them simply turned them into questions. So it's a means. It is s Chrissy, is it? It's simply made up off the phrase Esseker and then the word state on the end. Soon EPA means it isn't Esca Snipper, isn't it? And so you have esseker on DSA, Knippa said. They means it. Waas Esseker city means was it? And so again we have the phrase Esseker and then just the wood sitting on the end soon at a PTA means it wasn't on Eskelsen Atiba means, wasn't it? 73. 3 Minute French Lesson 58f: How would you say in French? Wasn't it expensive in Paris? It's good. Smitty Pasha Robbery Excuse Sanity Bashara wasn't it at Marie's house? Isgur Sanity Boschee Murray is Christianity Pash Memory wasn't it at four o'clock Excuse Unity Plaza Catto Exclusivity bother Qatar When was it con Esca city, Konteska City. Where was it? Who s your city? Who s scarcity? Now here's your next word for this lesson. I see. I see It means quite or enough. I see. Now you can put a stay in front of any adjective in the same way as you use the word time. While state means very I say means quite. Or we could also say rather in English, for example, say a stable See the Seebohm means it is quite good or it's rather good se I se share. See, that's a share. It is quite expensive. Oh, it's rather expensive. Say I say facile. See, that's a facile It's quite easy or it's rather easy in English. You can also use the word enough in the first on last of these phrases, so you could say it is good enough or it is easy enough. Secondly, you can use the word essay by itself to mean enough. For example, say a CPM were have a seat. This means it's enough for me. Or you can also use it with the past tense. If you use it with the past tense, it goes between the auxiliary verb on the past participle, for example, J s emoji J s a Moon jae means I have eaten enough. Literally. I have enough eaten. Even if the auxiliary verb is negative or a question, you still put Asi after the auxiliary verb on before the past participle, for example, Nunan possess a ashtray. Noona Pampa Assay Ashtray. We haven't bought enough Literally. We haven't enough bought. You can also use the word essay in front off now owns. Remember Milland told and say that it means too much on D. If you want to put toll in front of a noun, you have to change it too tall. Do well. You have to put a do after a say as well. If you want to use it with a noun, so you'll end up with a C do for example, Delia Say, do know it too. Yeah, I said annoyed Dio. This means there is enough food is your name. I don't have enough money. So that's the four ways that you can use A see. You can use it with an adjective to mean quiet. Or rather, you can use it by itself to mean enough. You can say J. C with a passport Izabal to mean I have something enough, or you can put us a do in front of a noun to say that you have enough off something. 74. 3 Minute French Lesson 58g: We've just seen the four ways that we can use a C with an adjective to mean, quite or rather by itself, to mean enough in the past. It goes in between the auxiliary verb and the past participle. Or you can place it in front off a noun, as long as you put the word do in between them. So how would you say in French? It's quite beautiful here, say I say, Boise said. That's a Boise. I like this car, but it's quite expensive, Jim said. What you may Elias a share may any asi Sher. And so in this sentence, the word share, which means expensive, is in its feminine form. So it's spelt C H e r E with a graph accent over the first E. And that's because it's talking about you know what, your, which is a feminine noun, meaning a car. Secondly, we say Ellie as a share for it is quite expensive. And that's because again, we're talking about the car on because we're mentioning a feminine noun in French. We have to refer to it as she. So you would say literally, I like this car, but she is quite expensive. Jim said Watcher, May L It s a share. How would you say that's enough for me? Thank you. So I see a staple Mom. Elsie Susette the staple Mom! Elsie, how would you just say enough? I see. I see. So in this lesson so far, we've had on meaning here. When you're saying how many years s Chrissy means, is it Excuse Naper, isn't it? Esca city means Was it Esseker? Senate? Deepa means, wasn't it? I see. Can mean quite rather. Or enough, Andi, I say dough can be placed in front of a noun to mean enough off something. How would you ask? Have you eaten enough today at U S? A. More JoJo Review that same O j or should we? 75. 3 Minute French Lesson 58h: How would you say in French? I've seen off J R save you J a Savior. Do you have enough time at U. S? A. The time reviews. I stayed at home. I would like to buy it, but I don't have enough money. Djibouti My last day May Judy Eyelash t made you say that you have drunk enough wine. Do you have you a sedative on? It was a debut, I say divine. I didn't buy enough food for eight people. You need potash day. I said, you know a job or with person. Jeunet Potash. T I said no Interpol with their phone. Do you have enough time to help me at you? I see the condom. Eddie. Do I say that? Don't Du Midi Are there enough people here? Yeah, till I see the person. Yeah, until I say their son 60 The film was quite good. The film a acibadem refill Mehta Seebohm That is enough for me. Saleh said that a poem or so last eight? That's a poem One 76. 3 Minute French Lesson 58i: How would you ask in French? Is it enough for you s U C C patois? Excuse it as a problem. Now here's your next word for this lesson. A long time. A long time. It means a long time. A long time. How would you say in French? I have been here for a long time. Just really see the real upon. Just we see different downtown. Literally. You say I am here since a long time. Well, how would you ask? Have you been living here for a very long time? I beat a juicy in the pretrial anthem every day. Do you see the tweet? Highlandtown? It was a long time ago. Said they really a long time sedately along. Are you going to stay a long time? I leave. Who has a long time. But you have a long time. Did you wait a long time? And when you use the word long phone in the past tense, you have to place it in between the auxiliary verb on the past participle. Just like we did with the word asi at you. Don't own it on you Have a long time That on you? I went to Paris a very long time ago. Just recently. A party. Did you see easily? Apari Ilia 77. 3 Minute French Lesson 58j: addictive are words that describe something, although that is only really a general definition. More precisely, you can recognize that a word is an adjective. If you comport, it is in front of it. For example, it is good. It is green. It is possible. So good, green and possible are all examples off adjectives in French. If you want to say it is difficult for me to understand French, you have to use the little proposition do in front of the verb to understand. So it would be said. It is still upon what do compound whole infancy say that he still from what do component difference See, which means it's difficult for me to understand French. This happens whenever you use this structure. It is or say in French President adjective Plus in the plus evade. So whenever you say it is something to something you have to use the word do in front of the verb. Here's some examples safe. I still do Polly fancy See if I feel the California Sea means it's easy to speak French se difficile. The compound whole efficiency se difficile the compound. Whole infancy. It's difficult to understand French se Tosha J C se Torchia Puma Dome on J. C. It's too expensive for me to eat here, so the adjectives in these three sentences are facile, meaning easy dificil meaning difficult onda share meaning expensive. And so then, in front of the next verbs, we have to use the proposition. Do so in the first, since we have do Polly the next one. Do campana and the last one do Mogi. So how would you say in French? Is it difficult to speak French exclusive Difficile The palate for C Excuse it if he sealed the California Sea, Is it possible for me to leave now? Excuse it. Perceived mental excuse a possible upon what? The past year? Montana. So the structure is it is plus an adjective plus do plus a verb on it is absolutely see. It also works in the negative with sin EPA and in the past, with city and soon, a deeper 78. 3 Minute French Lesson 58k: so we've just seen the structure. It is pleasant adjective plus do plus a verb, which means in French. If you ever say, see with an adjective and you want to put available in the end, you need to put the word do in front of the VEB, and so it's probably a good idea that we learn some new adjectives now. Therefore, I've added a vocabulary expansion sheet at the end of this course with lots of useful adjectives. The adjectives will be useful not only for this new structure but for building any sentences in general, just like with all the other per capita expansion sheets. Learn a couple or three words at a time. Andi bill. Different sentences to help them stick in your brain. There are over 400 adjectives in the list, so I don't expect you to learn them all. If nothing else, just being able to recognize them is a huge benefit. I've split the adjectives up into 11 sections. Emotions, size, personality, shape, quantity, condition, sound, taste, time, appearance on touch. Some of these adjectives won't be very useful to you yet, but as you work through the rest of this course and following courses, we will learn lots of new ways to use them. Now, if you have the vocabulary expansion sheet a hand, then it will help you with these next few translations. How do you say in French? I'm glad. Did you speak on Tom? Is your three quantum or if you're a woman, you're say, Just be content with an E on the end. Just three content. How would you say this car is absolutely enormous? I said, What you it absolute mountain? No said about your eight absolute mountain norm. I'm sorry, but that was thoughtless. Just wait. There's only May sat city unconsidered just We definitely may said the unconsidered I Well , how would you say it's crowded in here tonight and literally to say It's crowded here tonight. So you haven't got to say in here in French saved one day a CSS far se bond a sec as well 79. 3 Minute French Lesson 58l: How would you say in French, everything is broken to a Cassie to take a c. Is it absolutely necessary? S Kasey Absolutely unnecessary. Excuse it. Absolute monitors there. The food here is always fresh on The word for fresh in French is free, which is spelt f r a. I s, however, because the word for food is feminine. Landau he to then we have to use the feminine version off the adjective on the feminine version. Off a is fresh which is spelt f r a. I on the eye has a circum flex accent on it. C h e fresh. So how would you say the food here is always fresh land? No hitter. I see a to your fresh Leno Italy c A to your fresh. It is very beautiful here. When a city is little se crime Boise call Avila till you mini se tie Boise Collonville a ignominy your wet to and we was that we the first time I heard this word was when me and my sister were visiting France on We were walking through the street and it was absolutely chucking it down with rain on we walked into a shop and the man inside said No, no one said we and he wouldn't let us in because we were all wet. So we a is wet. So in this lesson, we've had the word on meaning here. When you're counting, the years are saying how many years s Chrissy means, is it escorts? Knippa, Isn't it Esseker city? Was it excuse in a deepa, wasn't it? I see means quite rather or enough. I say the person down means enough off something long time means a long time, and then the phrase safe a sealed The Bali fancy means it's easy to speak French to remind you that if you have the word see plus an adjective and you want to put available in the end, you need to put the word do it in front of the verb. 80. 3 Minute French Lesson 58m: It's time now to practice what we've learned in this lesson. How would you say in French last year when I went to Spain it was fantastic. So how would you say in French it is in front off the restaurant se developed esta home se de volta hostile home. Is it in front of the restaurant? Skc Duvall let us Tom. It's consider Volodya Stone. It's in front of you Save development se de Vonta. It's in front of him. Se DiVall Louis saying the voluntary. The hotel is in front of the beach. La 10. A. Develop large lo. Tell a develop lodge. Now Here's your next word, and you might recognize it derriere derriere. It means behind de the air. So how would you say in French? It's behind the restaurant. Say there. Yeah, the home saying Dahlia lost a home. 85. 3 Minute French Lesson 59b: How would you say in French? It's behind Pierre seeing their here. Pierre say they re appear so we've had so far in this Essent Duvan, which means in front, off Andaya Meaning behind. So how would you say I'm behind him? Just three diary. Just read that, Henry. I live behind Marie. Jab it. Daley Emory! Jab it, Daria Marie, everything is behind the car to a Dariel about you to say they're here and I want you. Marie and Pierre are in the car behind me. Mahi a Pierre Sundown at watch Hill Derriere more Marry a Pierre sandal. A bachelor degree M one. Now we've had the word love, which means there. But we can add a little bit to the end of it and get Laba. Lava means over there. Lover. So how would you say is over there? See Laba See Lava. Was it over there? Excuse city Lava Excuse city Lava in English. You might hear people say hi there. Whereas in French they tend to say hi over there. So what would be the French equivalent of saying Hi there. Sell your lover. Sell you lava 86. 3 Minute French Lesson 59c: How would you say in French? The car isn't here. It's over there. Love. What? You're napisy a lava love. Watch on the Pozzi C l A lava. And so again this sentence because we're talking about the car, which is a feminine noun, we have to refer to it as she in French. And that's why we say l alaba, which literally means she is over there. But in English, we just say it's over there. How would you say everybody is over there behind the hotel to Lamont Alaba there? Yeah. Hotel tool among the lava there. Here. Hotel. The room is over there in front of the swimming pool. Lasha Alaba Develope Scene. LaShonda alaba develope Scene. Now here's a useful word that has a couple off different meanings. USTA used. It can mean just or fair. And it means just in any sense of the word, whether it be just a minute or a just cause youth. So how would you say in French? Just a moment, please. Juice. Thomas, if you play just a moment Civil plea. So we've had so far, Devon, meaning in front off Davia, which is behind lover, which means over there and we've just had used, which could mean just or fair. How would you say it isn't fair soon? A pas usta Soon they produced. It's just over there, says use lava SE is used. Dilemma. I would just like a coffee. Usually I just on coffee. Judy just on coffee. 87. 3 Minute French Lesson 59d: How would you say in French? Just a wine for me, please. Onda a Coke for him. We just don vamp emwazi will play a Coke apology just on vamp. Um, once if you play a Coca Cola, we It was just before three o'clock said they just avant wowser said they just have on Plaza Michelle is always very fair. Michelle A to your treasure chest Micheli to your craziest We're going to friends just for a week. New Zealand France is just part winsome in New Zealand's on France. Just pour in some in I would like a room just for one night, please. But given the hygiene, shamba just part in any recieve a plea jeopardizing sham produced part in unreasonably It's just me. Se is used to more It is used them one. This next phrase is a funny looking one at what they do. Like what they do, it means next to literally it means at side off a got a do so caught They means side act what they do. Service phrase ends in the word do which means you need to remember that Do joins together with blue Andi Lay Remember the two rules. Dough plus low makes do Andi Diplo Sleigh makes day. So if you put a masculine or plural noun after a quick video, you get a court, a do or equity day. For example, a Katee do esta home means next to the restaurant. Oh equity. The maximum means next to the shops. If the now is feminine, however, then you don't have to worry so accorded love what you means next to the car. 88. 3 Minute French Lesson 59e: How would you say in French? It's next to the restaurant. Say a quota. Do has the home I say that what they do have the home is it next to me? It's Cassie Accorded a more, no more. So we've had so far. Duvan meaning in front of dahlia, which is behind lava means over there just can mean just or fair. And the phrase accorded oh means next to or literally at side off. So how would you say the cinema is next to the hotel? The cinema? A potato hotel? Listen, Emma, it's a potato hotel. Is it next to her? Skc coated? L excuse it. The key is next to my passport. Likely a Taco Tatum on passport. Likely a accorded Amman passport. The room is next to the restaurant. LaShonda Do has the home La Shammar A equity do hasta home. The hotel is just next to the beach. Hotel is just a cootie dellape lodge. Look tell is used a coded lock large 89. 3 Minute French Lesson 59f: Here's your next phrase for this lesson, huh? Guillemette do Ah, Kilo metre Do it means a certain amount off kilometers from so where the three dots are. You can place any number. You can take their kilo part off the front. And you're just left with metta, which means meters. So I met her. Do would be a certain number off meters from so, uh, you know, met under and, uh, met her. Do this phrase can sometimes be confusing for English speakers. Well, I know it was for me when I first all right in French. If you want to say something like it's 10 kilometers from here, you have to say say at this killer meta deceive, say, at this killer mental d. C. The little our means nothing in this situation in English, but it can't be left out in French. So remember that when you're saying how far something is, don't forget the little. So another example would be, say, a song meta do mommies, um said that some metal humanism, which means it's 100 meters from my house. And so the little, uh, doesn't mean anything in English, But you have to say it in French. Also, I'll just point out that in French they rarely ever use miles. In fact, most people won't understand what they are so always use kilometers when your inference. In fact that's a handy tip to remember. No matter where you are in Europe, use kilometers rather than miles. So how would you say in French? The restaurant is 100 meters from the beach. LA has a home. A Assam Meta Dellape Lodge has the home. It also met with a lap lodge. It's two kilometers from here. Se do cheol a meta disy said that dark yellow metal disy How would you say the hotel is just 30 meters from the beach? Lo tell it has used taunt metal dellape lodge Lo tell it has used taunt metal. Dollop Lodge Marie is two kilometers from me. Marry a ado Kalamata Damar Marry, it added. A killer met for the more 90. 3 Minute French Lesson 59g: How would you say in French? I live five kilometers from the Eiffel Tower. Jab it, Assange Kill a meta data. He fell J beat a san kill a meta director He fell We are one kilometer from you New songs are on Kalamata do new song on kilometre do so Kilo metre Onda metre are both masculine loans in French And that's why we say Angulo Meta are not Eun Guillemette. So I've now had Devon meaning in front of Daria meaning behind Laba which is over there just meaning just or fair. How could they do? Which means next to Andi Ocular met under or our meta do meaning a certain amount off kilometers or meters from Here's your final phrase for this lesson. Oh fun! Oh, so far do it means at the back or at the back off. So the word fun means back or even bottom. And so all font do means at the back off the phrase Oh, from can be used with or without the do If you use it by itself, it just means at the back, for example, to a ofan to get off from which means everything is at the back. However, if you want to say at the back off something, then you have to use the word do for off. For example, to a fondue esta home to take a phone. Do has the home which means everything is at the back off the restaurant on again. The same dirt rules apply with this phrase Do followed by look makes do defaulted by Les is they do followed by love is just a doula Andi Similarly Dirk, followed by l Apostrophe is just dirt. So how would you say in French? Pierre is at the back. Pierre, eh ofan pierre eight So far So that t at the end of eight can be pronounced if you want to because the next word starts with a vowel. So you can say Pierre eight or fun. But you haven't got to say you can say Pierre a often 91. 3 Minute French Lesson 59h: How would you say in French, the toilets are at the back of the restaurant. Late toilet Santo phone do restaurant. They 20 it santo phone do esta home. The toilets are just out the back later on it. So it's just a phone. They 20 son, just go from what is there at the back of the hotel Kjetil or fondle hotel? He Attila off on the hotel. Was it at the back of the cinema? Excuse city or fondue? Cinema s crucitti or fondue Cinema. We're at the back off the train, new sums or phone do Tom. New storms are phone to time. Why are you at the back of the boss? Aqua eight. Your phone, you goose. It's true. Or found you, Booth. There's just a little thing I wanted to say about the phrase Often do. Literally. It means at the bottom off. So when you say at the back of the boss or at the back of the restaurant, it literally means at the bottom of the boss or at the bottom off the restaurant. It's talking about the inside at the back rather than at the back on the outside. If you want to say something is at the back on. Do you mean it's behind? Then you can use the word that we've already learned Davey Air. So no fonder means at the back off or at the bottom off. And it's talking about the inside of something. So because it could mean at the bottom off, here are a few nice phrases that you can learn as well. Oh, fun de moi. Oh, funding one Literally This means at the bottom, off me or inside myself. But you can use it to mean deep down. So when you're giving your honest opinion, you could say Oh Fonda, Moir, don't form them on sack. Don't the phone Damonte sack means in the bottom of my bag. Don't have found them on sack, do you? Fall day, Monica, Do you find the monk means from the bottom off my heart So girl means heart in French. So in this lesson, we've learned devaughn meaning in front of Davia, meaning behind lava, which is over there, just which means just or fair. How could they do means next to I met with the or a kilometre means a certain um of meters or kilometers from, and then oh phone do means at the back off or at the bottom off 92. 3 Minute French Lesson 59i: it's time now to practice what we've been learning in this lesson. How do you say in French? It's just here in front of me. Se is used to see Devon. Moira Se is UCC develop The bus stop isn't here. It's over there. LA had the boost capacity Alaba A lot of abuse. Nip Azizi. Alaba I am behind the boss. Just read the analogous. Just three Dariel abuse. Was it next to the hotel? Excuse it. They Kotido 10. Excuse it. They contain gelatin. The Children are next to the beach. Listen for some Chakotay Dellape Lodge, liaison from Santa caught a dollop lodge. It's 30 kilometers from the hotel. Say that one kilometre. Dotel said that 20 kilometer Dotel. The toilets are next to the bar late. Well, it Santa coated you bar late? Well, it Santagati Dubai. We ate at the back of the restaurant yesterday next to the toilets and it was terrible news of a moon. Jae ho fondue has don t a a copy the toilet! A city! Terrible news of a moon. Jae Ho Fonda has to hunt here are coated it. Well, it a set a terrible Was it next to her if you sit a coated l is a city. It isn't fair. So they produced. But I prefer walking J in Watch your major Professor L a p j and watch your major Professor Ali a plea so literally It means I have a car, but I prefer to go on foot. You Oh, what you it means by car on what you Oh, literally. It means in car on what you So how would you say it's an hour by car? Say you know on what you said you now on what you So, in this lesson, so far we've had a p, which means on foot the phrase away happy literally means to go on foot. But you can use it to mean toe walk as well, and then on what you means. Bicol illiterate means in car on what you 98. 3 Minute French Lesson 60c: How would you say in French? You I like walking, but I prefer to go by car. Jim L E A. P major Preferably on what you Jim away appear a major, preferably on what you. So don't forget that when you say I like walking or any verb that ends in ing in English, In friends, you have to say instead I like to walk or I like to do something so you use the whole verb . That's why in French, we say Jim Ali, R P. I like to go on foot. I like to walk. But in English, we could say I like walking. How would you say it's quicker by car? Say please. Happy on what you say, Please. Happy doing what? You It's less expensive by car. Same one share from what? You Same one share on what you sticking with the same transport theme. Here's your next phrase for this lesson. On tongue on time it means by train or literally on the train on Tom. So how would you say in French? I don't want to go by train. It's quicker if I go by car. Junior battery. Anton Say please copied Seizure of a on what you ginger battery on, Tom Say please repeat. Stephen. What? You So it means I don't want to go by train. Jarvela on tandem A It's too expensive to go by train se toshio belly on com se Torchia rebellion. Now, whenever you want to say how you're getting somewhere, you always use the word on, plus the method of transport we've already had on what you, which means by call. And then we had on tongue meaning by train. Let's just learn a few more on Batteaux on Batteaux means by boat um, battle on that the young on of young means by plane, your nephew and then on calf unca means by coach hunka There are only two exceptions to this a p a. A p A means on foot on a shovel means on horseback or by horse. So most of the time you use the word on plus the method of transport except for a P and at survival. So how would you say in French? Are you going to Spain by plane or by boat that you on Espana on of young. One battle I leave was on a spaniel on of young one Batteaux. I went to France by plane last year, but this year I'm going there by train just easily on forms on the viola. So in this lesson we've had a p meaning on foot. I lay appear literally means to go on foot. But you can use it to mean toe walk on what you is by car on Tom means by train or on the train. Formato is by boat on that young by plane on gaffe means by coach and ask you viola means on horseback or by horse. So how would you ask, Why are you walking to the supermarket? Wow Bakwa, Olivos, api or through marshy? So literally it means Why are you going on foot to the supermarket now? This next phrase is a two in one phrase. It's look dodgy. Do literally they do by itself literally means the journey on. Then the word do means, takes or lasts when it's used with a tragi, so it has a radio means the journey takes or the journey lasts. And so the word do you come from the same word as we get the word duration from, So the duration of something is how long it lasts or how long it takes. So, as I said, you can use blue Taji by itself to mean the journey. But you can be more specific about the journey by putting the Anton or on what year or on boosts phrases on the end. For example, liturgy on booths, Littlejohn abuse means the Bush journey so on beause means by boss. So let hygiene abuse literally the journey, Bibles or the Bush Cheney, literally on what you liturgy on Watcher is the car journey. Will it through the journey by car literacy on Tom Little J means the train journey or, literally, the journey by train. 101. 3 Minute French Lesson 60f: we've just seen the phrase liturgy do, which I said means the journey takes or the journey lasts. Onda, the word do which means lasts is related to the English word duration. And you can use it to say how long anything lasts. Really, in English. When we say how long a journey lasts, we sometimes also used the word takes instead. Say hi, Boise Me They do lump se que Boise military g d a lot from So in this lesson we've learned a p which means on foot the phrase away appear means literally to go on foot. But you can use it to mean toe walk on what you is by car on Tom means by train or on the train I'm Batteaux means by boat on the young is by plane on God means by coach on juice means by boasts on the boss Ask you viola means on horseback or by horse on then literally J means the journey and you can say little j do to mean the journey lasts or the journey takes. But you can use the word due to talk about how long anything lasts cause it's related to the English word duration. So you can talk about how long the film lasts, for example, with Do. 103. 3 Minute French Lesson 60h: It's time now to practice what we've learned in this lesson. How do you say in French? Do you have any butter 107. 3 Minute French Lesson 61a: Let's start this lesson with a quick recap off the words and phrases that we learned in the last lesson. How do you say in French on foot, happy to walk literally to go on foot Ali Api by car or in the car on what you by train on the train on time by boat, in battle on the boss or by boss on booth, by plane or nephew by coach Oh God on horseback or by horse Ashu via the journey lasts or the journey takes Blue Tagi do. In this lesson, we're going to learn a bit more grammar on. We're going to learn about the present tense. The present tense in French is fairly easy. Here's how you do it. Step one is pick any verb and remove the last two letters. Step two is put vou in front of it on join ease ed onto the end of it. Here's an example with the verb Moggie, which means to eat. So we start with Mongie and we take off the last two letters. So we're left with the letters M A N G. Then report view in front and an easier on the end and we get Vou McGee and that's it. Vermont Jay means you eat Margie search histories rate. There's two rules to form the present tense in French. There are two steps Step one, pick any verb and remove the last two letters. Step to put a vu in front of it and join Easy head to the end. See if you have a go at putting these five herbs into the present tense so we have more J meaning to eat. Battier. Meaning to leave Ali to go Vondra to sell on payday, which means to pay. So how would you put Ma ji into the present tense on? Get to mean you eat McGee. Former G means you eat. Pata is to leave. What would it be in the present tense? Bhupati Bhupathi, which means you leave away is to go. What would it be in the present tense moodily was away. Meaning you go. Vonda Vondra is to sell. What would this be? In the present tense Vondie one day, which means you sell bay a means to pay. So what would this be in the present tense rupee Ruby 108. 3 Minute French Lesson 61b: We've just seen the two steps to forming the present tense in French. Step one was to pick any vote and remove the last two letters. Step two was to put vou in front and then join easier to the end of it. Now, in English, there is more than one way to talk about the present tense. For example, you could say you eat or your eating, but in French, these are both the same vou Margie. So whenever you use the present tense in French, it can be translated in two different ways. In English, one within ing on one without anything. So, as we've seen Voumard, J can mean you eat or your eating Rupak Dey Cooper Day can mean you leave or you're leaving with early vu Ali, you go or you're going Move on. Day. Vondie, you sell or you're selling. Ruby would be means you pay or you're paying. So how would you say in French? You, by Vozza stay. You're buying. Was that stay? What would be you? Wait. I was up on the Was that on day? You're waiting with that on the visit. On day you go out was all day rue Soft day. You're going out Rose all day groups, are they? What will be the two ways to say in English food? Ali. Rosalie, you go or you're going. What would be the two ways to say with that body? Do about the you bring or your bringing vu posse passe you spend or your spending when you're talking about time It was up early. Who happily you call or your calling? 109. 3 Minute French Lesson 61c: what would be the two ways in English to say was s a G u S A. You try or you're trying Vu Louis of all the way you hire or your hiring Sharji bush. RJ, you change your changing Westie voice. They you stay or you're staying A photo of a I want to stay you find or your finding. Now although most off the verbs in French follow the normal rules performing the present tense there are a few that do their own thing. They're not too difficult to learn, So let's go through them now. These verbs don't follow the rule about taking off the last two letters on replacing them with an easy head and putting a bullet in front. So the first irregular verbs in French is of wire avoir, which means tohave. I have one and this becomes Mousavi was a V, which means you have Mousavi So really it changes the o i r into an easy it rather than just the last two letters it changed the last three letters Mousavi wife wah means to see Veuve Y t y de is you see, do a and so this verb really it takes up the last two letters the I and the are But you add a why is it to the end rather than just ease it on? This makes it a lot easier to say who he this next one's very irregular. It changes quite a bit. Why? Wah means to drink wa and it becomes Voo voo v Rubie v Meaning you drink pond huh means to take Pompa and it becomes Rupeni Rupeni Meaning you take Volponi upon her means to learn upon. And this becomes in the present tense. Vou A pony was that penny which means you learn my name. Compound er means to understand compound and this becomes vou company Vu company Meaning you understand, Finn ear means to finish Finn ear and this becomes route Finnessey We'll finish, say meaning you finish and then finally szwed easier. Schwab Zia is to choose shredded ear and this becomes do we say you say meaning you choose Andi in this verb? The first s is pronounced like a zed on the second double s is pronounced like an s. So Schwab zc bush Wezi, See 110. 3 Minute French Lesson 61d: So we've just looked at eight irregular verbs in the present tense in French was a meaning you have via a you see, you breathe a meaning you drink. Group Renee is you take with that money you learn vu company. You understand, Ruffini say means you finish Onda Bush was, he say means you choose. But you'll notice that even though these eight ribs are classed as irregular verbs, they all still end in the letters. Ease it. You might also start to notice little patterns. For example, there were three verbs that end in ponder on. We can call those the pond proverbs, socom ponder a Ponta and pond meaning to understand, to learn and to take. And it's almost like with these three verbs you have to take off the last three letters so the d. R and E before you add the e zed socom pond, her becomes vou company, meaning you understand a Ponta becomes with a pony, meaning you learn, Ponca becomes Rupeni, meaning you take. So that's the three poems of IBS. The next thing that you might have noticed is how the last two verbs, which were Shazier and Femenia, add the letters. I s s E zed to the end. Would you remove the last two letters so we can call these the east say verbs. So the to he say, verbs that we've seen include Shazia meaning to choose onda fee mere which means to finish , And in the present tense they become bourgeoisie, say and goofiness a So these little patterns become handy tools to help us to remember the irregular verbs. Any little quirks that we can latch onto helps the irregular verbs to stick in our minds better. So that's eight irregular verbs that weren't that irregular. They just have their little weird things that they do when they form the present tense. However, there are three more irregular verbs that I want to introduce you to, and these are a lot more irregular. Thes three verbs Are they recycle the three TV EBS. The three TV ribs are very, very owed in the present tense. Once you take in the last two letters off the end, you have to add T e s to the verb instead of ease it and they all have a T sound on the end when you pronounce them, and that's why I call them the three T verbs. So the three TV EVs are fair, which means to do or to make and fair becomes roof it. Roof it. Which means you do or you make So you can see how the r E on the end gets removed and you replace it with a T. E s vote fit dia dia means to say or to tell dear, and this becomes would it, would it? Meaning you say, or you tell some again the ari is removed on t es is added to the end than ETA. ETA means to be ETA because the editor already has a T in the middle. We can just add e s to the end. Want to re remove the R E rather than an extra t? Yes. So Etta means to be on a ruse. It views. It means you are visit. So, Rufete would it on visit other three T verbs in French? So there were three very irregular verbs in the present tense. So try and remember these three verbs as they're not only very odd, but they're also three of the most useful on regularly used verbs in French So you vet would it on visit? You do or you make you say or you tell and you are. 111. 3 Minute French Lesson 61e: How would you say in French you have a lot of food? Was a book who deny to was a Baku do no hitter. Remember how a few lessons ago we learned the following sorts off phrases J. B. Holmes the Preet was, um j b conference to pre Tewes um, which means I've been living in France for three years, and I said, literally, it means I live in France since three years or another example is your sweetie see the pre law Just really see the lump on. The present. So just to recap, then to form the present tense in French, there are two steps Step one, pick any verb. Andhra, move the last two letters. Step to put a full in front of it and join Easy read to the end, for example of a means to find and what away means you find or your finding. But then we saw eight slightly irregular verbs that do their own thing, which were Mousavi. Meaning you have all your having y de you see, or your seeing Rubie v. You drink or your drinking Rupeni, you take your taking. Was that Queenie you learn, or your learning full company, you understand or your understanding. Have you finished? Say you finish your finishing Onda Bush was easy, you choose or your choosing. And then we saw three very irregular verbs which we called the three TV EBS. These were visit which are you are or you're being Would it you say you'll tell or you're saying you're telling on the roof it you do will make what you're doing or you're making 114. 3 Minute French Lesson 61h: before we practice what we've learned in this lesson, what we should do is go through a list off 30 verbs that we can use to practice the present tense. So you would say literally, you pay always the Bill bouquet to Joe Latest. How would you say you always high recall when you go on hold? How do you say in French You do or you're doing roof it you are or you're being visit, you say, or you're saying, Would it you have or you're having with a B? You see all your seeing Y t you drink or your drinking Rubie v you take or you're taking Rupeni. You understand a company you learn on your learning? Was that me? You wait or you're waiting. Do that on the now. In this lesson, we're going to look at how to make the present tense Negative. I know we mentioned negatives before, but I just thought we should go over it again to make sure it's 100% career. To make something negative in French we have to do is put n e or no in front of the verb on DPA spell ps after it. For example, you Margie, Vermont Jay means you eat and in the negative we get vou no more cipa Vollmar Zepa means you don't eat. I'm going to give you five present tense verbs Vermont Jay, meaning you eat bath day you leave was away. You go one day you sell on vou pay a You pay now see if you can turn them into negative present tense verbs. So what's the negative off you, Margie? One more Zepa. No more meaning you don't eat bath is you leave. What would be the negative Vona bath? Deeper Meaning you don't leave was away Means you go. But will this be in the negative? You know, Meaning you don't go one day is you sell. What would it be in the negative? One of on paper? Meaning you don't sell. And finally, who pay a mean? Do you pay? What would it be in the negative vu newspaper? Meaning you don't pay. 120. 3 Minute French Lesson 62b: in English. There is more than one way to talk about the negative present tense. For example, in French, you could say vou more Jhapa on this can mean you don't eat or you're not eating Voumard Deepa. So whenever you use the negative present tense in French, it can mean two things in English Vunibaka paper can mean you don't leave or you're not leaving vinyl a pop. You don't go or you're not going. Do you know you don't sell or you're not selling vona paper? You don't pay or you're not paying. So how would you say in French? You don't by any vegetables vu nationally Pad legume. Do not stay paddle. You're not buying enough food. You wanna stay pat? I say the no hitter Vona shape. As I said, you know it too. You're not waiting here from not on. The Majesty do not on the apostasy. You're not going out until 8 p.m. Venus off day Pat Just gaven to Venus off day passes. Gavin, you're not going to France until next Wednesday. Finally pass on phones just can make for the portion. Vinoly pass on phones. Just complexity. Portia, you're not staying at the hotel. You're staying at mine. Una has a paddle hotel station. One June has a puzzle hotel voiced a shame or you don't have enough time to visit the Eiffel Tower. Today, people say that the visit Tony Fellows una vida se the tone, the visit a lavatory fellows. 121. 3 Minute French Lesson 62c: How would you say in French? You're not going to France by plane. You're taking the train. Vinoly. Rupeni finally passed on false vu Panetta. Tom, you don't understand One company PPA who knew company EPA You don't finish until nine o'clock tonight. Who is a passion? Vodafone is a pot just given day on here. You're not stupid, Vonette Pastor Peter Volynets past Jawid. So the two steps to forming the negative present tense in French is firstly put a note in front of the verb and Step two is put part after the verb. For example, vou birthday Vou path Day means either you leave or you're leaving and juniper paper Who knew path taper means you don't leave or you're not leaving. So now we've looked at how to form the present tense on how to turn it negative. The next thing we should look at is how to turn the present tense into a question. To make the present tense into a question we have to do is flip the two words around the two ways are actually the pronoun vu Onda a verb Then won't you flip them around? You also need support a little hyphen in the middle. For example, Emoji, Vermont Jay means you are eating. And in a question it becomes more gave you mon Shavoo. And that means are you eating? And that's what you do so again, Here are five present tense verbs Room RG Meaning you eat vou bath day. Meaning you leave. Usually you go for one day. Meaning you sell on vou Peggy. Meaning you pay. See if you can turn them into questions. So what would be room O. J as a question? Monju, which means Are you eating what would be vou path Day as a question bath? The view, Which means Are you leaving? What would be easily as a question? I believe you meaning Are you going, Von Day as a question would be one day vou, Which means are you selling bouquet as a question in French would be big evil? Which means Are you paying 122. 3 Minute French Lesson 62d: we've seen this next phenomenon quite a lot. Now, the fact that in English there is always more than one way to say the same thing in French . For example, Monju Machi view can mean either do you eat? Are you eating? Parlay voo? I believe you can mean either do you speak or are you speaking? So there's always one way with an ing on one way without inning. I leave you. I believe you means Do you go? Are you going believable, baby? Boom! Do you drink? What are you drinking? A. A brew Babel. I mean, do you pay or are you paying? Also? One thing that sometimes confuses English speakers who are learning French are the phrases Do you Andi, are you that appear when you ask questions in English, for example, the French phrase Malibu, Farsi, Malibu Francais in English can be translated either as do you speak French? Or are you speaking French in French? The phrases do you Andi, are you that appear to start? A question is in English just don't exist because of this. When you are asking a question in French, it might seem that there aren't enough words or you're missing something out. So if you do say something like, do you eat meat? Or are you speaking English? Don't think of the do you or the are you parts Just think. What's the verb? So do you eat meat? When in French you just say you eat meat, which is module avian Muj buh delivery. Well, you want to say, Are you speaking English? Well, your friends, you just say you speak English. I believe you. Only I believe was only so how would you ask In French. Do you buy much chocolate? A state? Are you buying something for Pierre Stave? Yukiko shows propia ask David Gilkey shows propia Why are you waiting here, Roqua at on the UCC at on the UCC. 123. 3 Minute French Lesson 62e: the Web at Honda in French means to wait. The last thing left to look at is how to make the present tense into a negative question. To make the present tense into a question or you had to do was flip the two words around and put a hyphen in the middle. So we already know that Vermont Jay means you are eating on more J vu means are you eating well to make this question negative? All you have to do is put new any at the very start on DPA at the end of it. So, Marge, evil means Are you eating? No more Juba means Aren't you eating no more Jajouka. So here are five present tense questions. More J vu. Meaning? Are you eating path? Dave? You Are you leaving? I leave you. Are you going rendezvous? Are you selling on Favell? Are you paying? See if you can turn them into negative questions. So, Margie, vote means are you eating? How would you turn this negative? No, Ma Jajouka. No more Juba means Aren't you eating? How would you turn Bath? Dave you Negative. Nobody. Juba. Nobody rupiah means Aren't you leaving? How would you change a level into a negative question? Now leave Lupu. What would this be in the negative? No, I haven power new believe Oppa. Meaning aren't you paying? So we have to do is put Newt APA stocked and path at the end. Now this is the last time we're going to see this English phenomenon where there is more than one way to say something in English for one way in French. So the question no more evil bar means Don't you eat in English? But it can also mean aren't you eating? So there are two ways to say the negative present tense in a question form in English again . One has ing on one. Doesn't nobody means Don't you speak or aren't you speaking? Now? Leave Aruba. This can mean don't you go or aren't you going? No, baby blue bar. Don't you drink or aren't you drinking? And new baby Bouba means Don't you pay or aren't you paying? So there are always two ways to say it in English on one way in French 131. 3 Minute French Lesson 62m: How would you ask in French? Aren't you buying any chocolate? Not stable. Not only who? Primary and that on the back Muddy. So don't forget that in English. We say to wait for whereas in French you don't use the word for you. Just say toe winked somebody or in English, we can say to await somebody. And so that's what the Aton is more related to. How would you ask? Why don't you go out with Pierre and Sophie tonight? A tablet. This will save you. So that's how you turn. Present tense questions. Negative. You put no in front of the verb in a present tense question. And then you put pot at the end. For example, Bath Dave, you means, Are you leaving or do you leave? No past able bar means Aren't you leaving or don't you leave? Let's just do a little recap off everything we've learned so far about the present tense basically, to form the present tense, you removed the last two letters from the verb and then add Ease it to the end. Won't you form the basic present tense? You can play around with it to say a variety of things, so the basic present tense Step one. Take any verb and remove the last two letters Step to put. He's dead on the end, and then the word vou at the start, for example, more J means to eat more J means you eat or your eating, then to form the negative present tense. Step one is put notes in front of the verb, and Step two is put power after the verb, so room Andrzej means you eat or your eating. And who knew more? J. Pop means you don't eat or you're not eating. Then to turn the present tense into a question, Step one is to flick the pronoun on the verb around. And Step two is to put a hyphen in the middle so you, Margie, means you eat or your eating more J. Vu means do you eat? Are you eating? And then to form negative questions in the present tense? Step one is to put a no in front of the Web in a present tense question. And Step two is to port pat after the room. So Monju means, Do you eat or are you eating in Amman? Juba means Don't you eat or aren't you eating? So that's the four things that weaken do with the present tense in French. But there is one more thing we should cover before ending this very long lesson. 135. 3 Minute French Lesson 62q: commands The proper grammatical term for commands is the imperative. But it doesn't really matter what you call it, as long as you know how to use it. Giving a command in French is easy. We have to do is use the present tense on take off the view. That's it. For example, Margie means you eat or your eating more j means eat telling somebody to do something and you don't have to use the exclamation mark whenever you give a command in French. I just added it here for emphasis. So here are five present tense verbs. Vu, Margie Meaning you eat bouba day, meaning you leave goes away, which means you go move one day meaning you sell on bouquet meaning you pay so see if you can turn them all into imperatives or commands. So what would be MRG as a command, McGee Margie meaning it would be Bhupati as a command bhakti. But the meaning leave what would be Vasarely as a command, Ali Ali, which means go and in fact, we learnt this verb back in course two or three when we were learning how to give directions in French. We said things like I lay boudoir which was go straight on. And so the Ali is the command or the imperative. Meaning go. What would be one day as a command Vondie one day, which just means sale. And finally, what would be vou Peggy as a command baby, baby with means pay. So we have to do is take the vou away from the present tense. So how would you say in French by everything now our state to mental? I stayed two months. Wait here upon day TC at on day 50. Now commands don't have to be forceful. They can be quite polite. The word command is just the name for the tents or imperative. So how would you be polite and say Wait here, please up on the basis of a plea up on the basis of a plea 136. 3 Minute French Lesson 62r: How would you say in French? Go to the shop for me. This cake is delicious. I said yes. A ghetto Ellendale issue. They say yes to ghetto in Dallas here, so you can see how this is a command. But it's not forceful. You was telling somebody what to do. You're saying, Try the cake, Andi. In the second part of the sentence, we say l a daily steer because the word cake in French capital is masculine on. When you refer to a masculine noun in French, you have to call it he rather than it. So in English, we say, Try this cake. It's delicious. In French. You have to say, Try this cake. He is delicious. It's against you gotto, Later this year, how would you say, try to speak a lot of French next week? They say the PI label could foresee last minute portion. They say the panel Abeokuta forced a last minute push in. Try calling Marie a city that really marry a saving the primary. Stay here. Pony and taxi Ally Opo Funny and sexy Ally oppo. Choose a bottle of red wine for the table show, as they say in shall we say in potato van holds for negative commands. You can make all the commands negative We have to do is put new in front of the command and power after it. So family means speak and new palette means don't speak. So here are five commands more J meaning eat bath day. Meaning? Leave Ali go one day, Sam, on payday pay, See if you can turn them into negative commands. So what would be the negative version off Mongie? No more J pop, No Mazeppa. Don't eat. What would be the negative version off? Kathy? New path, New Petapa. Meaning? Don't leave Ali. Nah, Lipa Nah, Lipa. Which means don't go one day. No. One day, Papa. New von Deeper. Don't sell bay. A new paper, New paper Meaning don't pay. That we have to do is put no in front of the command on DPA straight after it. So how would you say in French? Don't buy the food until Friday. National Paranoia Mass staple A no Ito juice. Kvant, don't wait for the boss. Take a taxi! Not only Pal abuse Pony and taxi. So this is another one of those situations where we have to refer to a noun as he because it's masculine. So look, Gaffie means the coffee, and it's a masculine noun in French. So in this sentence, we have to say, Don't drink the coffee. He is terrible. Nobody Barret coffee later, How would you say, Don't take everything. No point.
