About This Class

In this class I will share with you the 12 HABITS that have been game changers for me during the last years as a professional singer.

  • HABIT NR.1 - Always Warm Up: includes a practical guide for warming up your body and gently waking up your voice + cheat sheet in PDF (download it on the PROJECT SECTION). This warm up is ideal for every morning or just before your singing practice.
  • HABIT NR. 2 - Mind Your Posture: 6 tips that make such a difference! Posture plays such an important role in singing and voice production in general. And it can be improved with so little effort with the right tips!
  • HABIT NR. 3 - Practice Breathing Exercises: Check my last Skillshare Class for in depth practical breathing exercises: https://skl.sh/2Tyt8Bb
  • HABIT NR. 4 - Tap Into Your Voice: How to start your practice and gently start warming up your voice. Using the Pavlov Effect to your advantage in singing.
  • HABIT NR. 5 - Sing From Your Support: The golden rule!! Most vocal problems come from not engaging with our body correctly when singing. Using your support is a constant feeling that should be always present. Breathing exercises can help you a lot with this as well!
  • HABIT NR. 6 - Know Your Registers: Each register is attached to specific vocal characteristics that allow you to tap into pure chest voice or pure head voice. I’ll give you practical advice and demonstrate with examples. You’ll be able to connect with each specific register and develop your voice from there.
  • HABIT NR. 7 - Keep Your Vowels Clear BUT in the Same Place: Make vowels work FOR YOU and not AGAINST YOU. I share an extremely useful exercise that was a game changer for me! Vowels are “made” from different formants. Formants give clarity and distinctive characteristics to each vowel. With this exercise you’ll learn to keep your voice on track, while keeping each vowel’s different formants.
  • HABIT NR. 8 - Work with Patterns: includes several ideas and tips to incorporate musical patterns into your daily practice and easily tackle difficult music sections and track your progress.
  • HABIT NR. 9 - Use Dynamics: How to take your expression of the music to the next level.
  • HABIT NR. 10 - Keep Grounded Whatever Happens: A habit to take into consideration both physically and psychologically. Singing is a game of balance between physical and psychological factors. Learning how to keep grounded in both worlds and bringing them together is the every day challenge of  singers.
  • HABIT NR. 11 - Cool Down and Build Muscle Memory: How cooling down can be as important as warming up and how it can become one of the best tools to build muscle memory and to keep making skyrocketing progress.
  • HABIT NR. 12 - Practice Makes the Master: Last but not least, how to keep being consistent and stick to your habits. You can also check the link for this amazing Skillshare lesson by Thomas Frank on how to build habits that last: https://skl.sh/2Y3dyPa

The combination of these 12 lessons can also be used as a great guide of essentials for success in singing! The majority of Habits is inspired on basic technical principles that every singer will go though at some point when learning to sing. In addition, every lesson is accompanied by practical exercises and examples!

I’m here to help you improve your singing, becoming the best singer you can be and encourage you to take the most out of these singing classes! So if you have any doubt or question about the exercises we explore in the lessons, make sure to leave a comment on the Discussion section.

1. Introduction: Hi, everyone. I'm so happy to have you here for these class today. Welcome back to the ones that already sold my first class last week on. We'll be really happy about this one. It's like, I mean, there are so many habits that one builds is a singer. And sometimes we have been doing this for such a long time that we don't even realize their habits because they are so built in into our routine or my routine as a professional singer . But I was like, really picking on really being picky with 12 that I would choose on making sure that these words wants that had a great the greatest impact while I waas like building my you know, a consistent standard off singing. So I'm really looking forward that you get to know them on. Also, it would be amazing if you can share which these will be the problem off this lesson. If you can share like which haven't helped you the most, or which having that not from the ones that I'm sharing today like one that you have that has helped you the most, I think this is really important to share. That's how I learned so much as well. Like from colleagues on from other people that are in this business. It's from sharing that we really get the most out of it. So as habits are like a must for any craft that you want to master, we offered Renew legs, get our hands into the work, Let's get our hands dirty and started. 2. Warm Up! Practical Guide : having number one first things first before you. Anything you need, Teoh, build the habit of warming up, and if you have a easy boys and you can go around without it, I'm also guilty. I also think that a lot of times, but it's not good eyes that nothing good. And as soon as I got rid off that and I started really consistently warming up every time before I sing what I heard if it's a less son, if it's a performance for everything, when I build up that habit, I am learning so much more about my voice. And also I felt silver more secure, so I only jumped into delightful that I should be seeing into when I really build the habit off. Consistently warming up make things easy and adjustable. I have divided small warm up into three sections. This is not a full voice. Warm up like I think you another year on, like how I do my voice for months. These is just like you can go. It's like a quick body warm up to like get your body into the right place and getting release off any pension that you might be feeling on. Wake up with your voice a little bit because I let's so watch waking up Your voice is waking up your body. Just keep in mind that normally after these warm up, I do a full voice form. But this is really good base itself. Let's not. We will start. We've had circles so you can put your chain Teoh touching your chest and then rolling to the left to right, coming back to center. Observe. Where is more tides? Any help you can keep on doing these things? We will shoulder shrugs. This this is like, where for me, Most tension bills is in the shoulders. We need these. So free to sing. Show this. Uh, let's all the tension go then Just place our hands on our hips Move moved one size and the other Make sure to follow with your eyes on just allowed to stretch your rib cage. You know, this is so good to then have your ribcage free and ready for the expansion and movement that it needs to adapt to. So that's a really, really great torm. And, you know, I keep it like this for this section, but definitely feel free to listen to your body and feel Which movements do you feel like doing for this section? We will start with just free body shape. So you just all you let yourself If you would be hanging from ceiling I'm just let yourself move pretty. We don't thinking anything. Whatever movement there, what it feels like it all right. And you can do that with your eyes closed. Just feel like you are a puppet. You got feeling right So the more you move, the better and more free or you can get the better. If you have older space around you, it's it. Eso. The other thing is that we are going to massage our face like our necas well and for you can be more organized about is if you want to be like from top to bottom just all the way Just muscle in your face on getting all these muscles prepare its on ready While so much tension in my neck today, sometimes you know you have better Things are worse stating what comes to flexibility and it's just so important to get old. Is most cells ready and going? It's like to give their best in singing, So it's important to take some time to get like self massage in your whole phase, especially if you don't have makeup on works much better. Anyway, To finish this small section we will prepare for the next one is doing Tom circles inside your mouth. So I dislike this. So what I'm doing is that with the tip of your tongue, you are doing circles in front of your teeth as if you want to clean this or something like that. Just do circles and you can hum while you do that Emam. Then you can change direction. Mm hm. That's great for the time and helps really so much station. I mean, time attention is one of the worst things for singers and is one of the things that we have to deal with Waas over and over again. You and it's something that is really easy to build up. We don't realize that attention is coming from the time, So if you can take like, one minute to the tongue circles, you can be saving yourself so much trouble in the third and the lost little section off these warm up we will do to leap and tongue roles so you can do them. You can then with voice, since we are going to sing less than with voice. So let's start to be determined roles from your engagement as you saw him lost lesson. Oh, so, Jesus, if you would be saying and are like butts, like in Italian or Spanish like Like that's in Spanish like aroma, like the capital on you Go in your voice up now just improvising. But from here, like, don't hurt yourself by doing that you're tripping detention unit roads. Eso the air just passes through buildup notation here just you have difficulty with this exercise. Some people find it impossible or really, really difficult because he didn't have sounding like which lets really common. So just write me and I can do like a little post or a little video on how to achieve days. I didn't have it in the beginning on I had to practice it to get a consistent S o D. Ya wan did leap roles. It's the same, but with your lips and nothing, and you display with that that's it for the body warm up. Make sure that you listen to your body and you listen what it is asking you to do and just see where is more tense and go there. Just do this as a listening exercise. The point is to listen on, just you react in accordance to How are you feeling on Tax Day and to what works for you and also incorporate new things. Experiment new things on that will keep things dynamic on bond like exciting and will not get bored with warm ups, And that's a way to stick to them and make them have it instead of something that you need to do before singing. 3. Mind your Posture. Tips!: So let's start talking about posture on these things, like an obvious thing off course. I have to have good post here. Yeah, no. Well, it's actually more complicated than that. It's just say, Easier said than done. So the thing that I found that is most difficult is that when we are in stage on were forced to run around, we're told Studio to advance or interact with other singers on stage. It's We don't have time to think about a posture, and things just work naturally, you if we have built them up from the beginning. But what I found most difficult is when we have to actually distended Andi in situations that, like how dishes are you have to sing like in a more intimate situation to someone like, you know, in a private house. Oh, are you know, just to meet some friends and then you don't we have a stage or a director on, so you have to just stand, and that's when you start being really aware of your body on. Suddenly you're like, just really making with things that don't normally another place. Where this can happen is when you are on a sinking less for me happens. Lost when I go for a voice coaching or just working the pianist on normally were. Sometimes we get too small room on. Then I'm like, Start to that place on. It's so much harder than when I'm singing on stage. Andi. This might happen because are there things that we didn't really warm up well or like that they were just building pensions somewhere or technically, something is not working on then That translates into physical tension on being still just doesn't allow your body to release the tension in the natural life. But we should we can. We should, and we can fix this problem the other way around. So if you're starting to feel like it's not working, you're Steve. Go and check your posture. Let's just go from bottom to top. So, first of all, have your knees unlock unlocked me. This means that when they locked, it means that your leg straight and your knees completely straight with your leg on these will block the movement off your ankles off pelvis on, you know, like your rib cage, everything. It will just fix your knees. First of all, just remember everything tensed or things. I've been working. Just make sure your knees are unlocked on, like just loosey goosey, and they're flexible to adapt with your boy. A second thing. Make sure that your heaps are not too much like tilted or too much to front as well. So this goes with the unlocked knees. They should be in a nice, comfortable position where they are able to adapt once more. Adapting is the key word here. So if you feel that any of your body parts is just locked or Steve find a way to bring movement into that because you need movement for singing any movements Teoh like be free, responds to your like, What's your voices, asking you what music is asking issues. Also, you know that's you should not dance with music If that's not ask. I mean, I guess it depends a lot on the situation. But if you are presenting yourself in a more formal situation, or if you are in addition, you should definitely not just dance with the polls on the music because this doesn't look professional. It'll keep it in mind, always bringing movement to your posture, but subtle that everything is about to rib cage, and you don't want to have a collapse, pollster. And these includes shoulders as well. You should not have this kind. It's kind of cool, right? But no, not forcing. You should really have already an open advising pollster. Like, ready to go on that will allow you to have a natural expansion of a rib cage. As we saw the other lesson with breathing exercises that you need this ribcage expansion on . You should have a poster that already makes like a predisposition for these kind of movement that you need for saying number four page into your neck that it is aligned with the rest of your spine. So these muscles here so, like, here and here we have like this, too little muscles. They are super important for singing. And if you have them blocked, it automatically blocks all these muscles here. All the attendance on that will block things hanging position off your bearings. So yeah, the Harrises hanging and we shoot like, give it this natural freedom to come up on down until as its needs to produce a healthy toe . So these two muscles here are very much determined by posture and alignment off your neck. So never this never also like the military posture also is stiff doesn't help. Another thing that you might want to check is your job, and these might be a little bit more advanced. Thoughts. Just check it from the beginning. That's when you are doing people do it on the high notes. Some people, it's when they have really long notes. They look the job on its normally happens that they do it forward or they locked it in a position like on. Then they do all the thinking. From here on, it doesn't help. So Joe goes with the alignment of the neck and jaw. Always lose. All is ready for all kinds of articulation, and you can control it from here. You see, um, Lustick. One thing that works like to alarm the whole posture is to think that you have a string that it's pulling you from here on. It's attached to the ceiling. On this, you're just like being pulled from strange right on your just hanging from a So you think that it comes from the top off your heads on. You have no ground. You feel that. Just imagine it on. You will feel that automatically. The whole body alive, like neck Joel shoulders knees. Everything is a line. So if you are in a situation where you are in distress or pressure, you have time to think about all those things. If they are no, If they are not automatic yet, just think. OK, I'm just being hanged from the street. Then go on, Go on, singing Go on being it into your character. But just remember that maybe the character is hanging from the string. It helps a lot. 4. Breathing Exercises: all right. Breathing exercises. You watched my first lesson. You already know that this is really, really important topic on really something that's one of the tools that will help you the most. So I just wanted to include this very short chapter here before the walls of the evidence. In my previous lesson, Go check. It's because I will not repeat myself in this lesson on dis Just to say that this is one of the things that helped me the most help people most. It's mind single. I'm not singing well, but work preparing the foundation. All right, so my advice is just take it easy. Repeat what you have to repeat. Go back studio breathing exercises like you know, sometimes we understand things in theory on then our colleges takes time to, like, really settle, understand, process and make them automatic. So you need to be consistent with that. I think if you really put into work now, you will be so thankful later and you will go in the long run. You'll go way faster. Then what you would expect 5. Tap Into Your Voice & The Pavlov Effect: okay. These one is like we all fall into the temptation off sometimes just are very excited for singing. We don't have much time to, you know, warm up on these things that we just go into. It's like the most difficult freight off the area or, you know, behind directly, Um, and it's like, over and over. It's setting ourselves up for disaster, so just don't do that. Like, if you want to practice seriously, just tap into your voice for us. Just try especially feats in the morning, and you didn't wake up like that long time ago. Just tried. First respected. Don't abuse from it and expect your body, too, produced most difficult things that you can do with your voice, like just starting up, Not just because one can do that. One should do it. All right, so you will see development with your voice, which is amazing, and we get excited about that. You will see that you will be able to do more kind of like tricks. Vitra cystic things like singing louder, and then we kind off. Let's go off like first baby stacks that we learn, and we go directly into the result on this is always always recipe for disaster. You had a chance to like leave with professional singers like be part of this whole kind of lifestyle. You see that singers are always like trying, divorced, trying voice and trying my slightest just making the sounds of each person has, like, a specific thing that you know. Okay, that works then my boss is in a good place. Was his new change. If it doesn't work, then we get a getting stress. Now we look at stress. But you know, what we do is we go warm up. We go to the baby steps that we know that we put our voice in the right place. Let's go from breath of fire, Teoh humming I you don't know what his breath of fire. Just take my first last thing we did Breathing exercises on you will profit so much for me and understand. So we will just just like different features as well. Mm on then find like an open, relaxed space into the coming. But the second thing is like from the humming to singing and beckoned Ford. So just like no, that's coming from here. Step number three is that you start moving that note. I was a bit, but just like out between the just improvised or you can build small patterns of that. But we'll see that later. Another thing that I like to tap into my voice east to do it very pne seem all very soft. Singing like Oh, just like is if I would be marking so not full singing. That helps as well remember that these are just tips and examples that might help you find your own things that help for you. You will be the one that knows hope you'll be the one that knows better. Your voice on you will be the one that okay, I can do this. I mean the right track. You will know to start time for me, for example. It helps in the beginning. So to tap into my voice to use low notes because they allow me to engage better with my body. It's easier for me on like, feel these full resonance on. Then, when I feel like this open openess in my body, then I can just step into high notes, not clear up for me, but for you. It might work the opposite. So you have to try. And I'm really curious to hear about that. So I'm not here to, like, tell you how it works. Absolutely. No. I'm here to, like, help you and give you tips on. You should feel free to, like, start a discussion down below or leave a comment. Leave your suggestions. Questions about whatever. On. Yeah, we can start like a conversation. Actually wants to figure out what words for you. This such Just hold to it. Because it's such a precious thing that when you are in a pressure situation, you just like, go into it and you know Okay, this gives me security. I know if this works that work on, it's something that you incorporate as start off your daily practice and that you will use us just before going out and performing you build. This mechanism is like the powerful off effect you know you have If you start all practiced with this and it's something that gives you security and just a good start, if you use the same thing when you are about to leave for performing, you will have the same sensation. You'll have the same security that you have by the start of her practice. So it's like a dual thing that you can use to, like start gentles, doctor practice in the right place and also help you in a pressure situation. The in Batouti's in tow exactly right place that you need to go and perform. 6. The Golden Rule!: seeing from your support. This is like the golden rule I should have with the number. One thing is really, really essential on. It's just go to when something it's not working. I don't repeat myself with what I said in the last lesson, but this is such an important thing. Maybe I can clarify it a little bit. So where do you start? Yes, sound producing cell. It should always feel that it is coming from your intestines or like from this part here. I think it's nothing better than just is exemplifying like I he it's not What would be wrong with this, uh, a e? Do you hear the difference? I e. It's very clear and doing worse. Maybe simplify better. Hi, I e. It would be like closer to how we speak nowadays, but sometimes helps to think like you are Shakespeare actor Hey, on the sink. So that's already there. I wanted to say that when you are singing things that are a little bit more difficult, a little bit more ritualistic or advanced sometimes is in those precise moments that we need all support. The most off course that we actually disconnect this pay attention to that. All right, when it whenever you have, like a difficult, uh, part that you need to sing, separated And remember the golden rule on Do this one phrase we support so that it becomes automatic on your body Don't disconnected to things. And then everything gets like myself just to give you an idea. Like sometimes when I sing for a very long time, like three hour long Oprah where I'm doing the Mabel are when I have, like a full day over here souls I get exhausted I did, but I get exhausted like from my legs because I'm engaging my whole body like from boarding exist science. You know, that's the kind off like habits that you should get. It's like using your whole body and all. I'm saying just, oh, placing white working. Where's placement? Like it helps a lot. Sometimes forget about placement on. Just seeing from your whole body on the gate front will also came natural, like the engagement of the support will come naturally from that. The developed down is if you feel very tired physically, but you're really completely okay locally. This that's a good sign. It's the other way around if you're like, really rough or like, really tired, even when you speak. But you're like, ready to go party. That's because you're compensating with your voice the effort that you should be putting with your body. 7. Know Your Registers + Exercises: no, you're registers. It's not just about voice extension. So the big deal about registers, it's the bus abdel, are the breaking your voice? You know, it's the same way of saying to a all saying the same thing, which is when you have here one register and then you have here the other. This is this is where you pass from, one registered to the other on this is where singers need to, like adapt from one register to the other than you like to see, because it kind of sing in a way one register and sing in another way register even if you're not conscious about, it's like for me. In the beginning, I really pay attention to these. I didn't feel different, registers different anything. I just sing and that's it on. And it took me a while to take this register. Whole told. Much more serious on the promise was really from night today when I realized what's registers actually feel lie and I was much more specific with my attention to how I was singing in one register on the other about the massage. We will discuss that in another video because it's such a such a big topic. But for these woman about just, you know, like knowing registers, it's about knowing what characteristics off the voice are attached to each register. For now, you need to just know them. I know what article characteristics that will help you to tap You'd like pure checks or pure head voice are like pure resold register. So let's go into this characteristics for the chest register. If you use clear vowels and use love saying or like fourth it singing, you'll tapatio chest register much easier. Let's see. I see that. Then comes protest on the opposite. So during it, not so pure chest force would be like if you're having trouble with, like I can't find my voice there. That also happens when you're retired or you have been singing too much finance. I just think. Okay, Seymour more open on they think it louder. I think your food on for the head voice. It's the opposite. So forehead voice. It's easier if you use like not so clear bowel, some more dark fouls. Not so I between like all thes kind like mixed with who I find that for. Have voiced if you make survival Z. Then it's much easier to tap into the head voice on. The other thing is to sing softly or seeing piano on you will for the head voice There is street, which is like if you start feeling this bus in your head like this very intense, like Sparkling Bozz. That means its you're in direct path. So let's true, you know, go and then you can. Now I'm not engaging so much my body because I just want to tap into the head voice What? You have that on the side of your head voice. Then you can develop that like this. Oh, you know that you're having difficulty. It's probably because you are going to Laos and bolus clear, So it would be like, Oh, you're seeing it right? For that registered, I'm like spreading my voice. It has to be much more. Do me like like we do shame. That's how you have, like, this brilliance part that will cross to the opera house on a big stage. So the oh, this'll make sound this pure head on for the whistle register. Once more, you open to clear battles and off course. Fourth is No. 14 there. I think there was only one dynamic is the one you can see there. It's that one. There's not really much dynamic ranch in the extremes of your voice. Definitely you play more with dynamics on the head voice to do those kind of notes, like up the high. See, You need to have the other two registers figured out. Don't do there. I don't think the other way around. Also, because this whistle register depends on a lot of more things. It's like you already have to have advanced courted coordination in your body to be able to do those notes. Um, so that's my advice. Keep to reserve register for later. So just practice. It's like each separate registers with its specific characteristics, and then you'll notice that you will start like this. Noticed, working. Okay, let me start with like, pure headed Waas and then builds from there That will give you such a great advantage. Teoh really know your voice, really know what they 8. VOWELS: Clear & in the Same Place: bulls Bowels are such important things because they are what we see. We see one bottles don't sing in confidence. I mean, cousins can help us to be expressive But we're definitely seeing on the vowels. So that means we seen each time like you should be thinking off the valuable not constant If we have the rejoice from handle on have re just rejoice Read your eyes You have nothing shot No, you just go s quickly as you can through the constants and go to the valuable Just marking for suddenly you would do he So it's the original is rejoice, rejoice Recall straightly on you. Yeah, I e And what This is that if sometimes if you didn't practice your valuables you'll have vowels that are in very different places. And so you will have problems with this specific vowel Like some people have so much trouble with E or an excellent struggle with who are have some of struggle with Ah, that's the recoverable. Why? Because they have are here and e there. These mean what I mean by these is that the shape off the valuable Each travel has different Well, if we want to get very technical. Vala has different for months. There are different because they have different formats and they have therefore different shapes, and that's why we hear them differently. You can also think about shakes in your mouth, because when this happens normally you do on U E. You know, I don't think so far apart and different that it's this like your voice. When you're singing goes in different places, we the vowel because we're seeing you will hold your voice to sound different, to have a completely different color. When you change on the same words from in this case from equal, you want your vowels ideally to have like their identity, which is their own shape. But they should all be in the same place, so they should have different, slightly different shapes so that there are clear vowels. But they should all be in the same place, so all the shapes should be in the same place. It's much easier when you actually try it. Eso they size for this specific like habit that it should build is practicing starting with will or I E. And the reason why we will do this order is because we are going from the shapes like or I e like always is closed toe all goto a supposed to be and actually east goes toe. So it's like could be a circle right, But we will start with you. Andi Way will go on the same note and you can control that with your finger here on change , for example and control. And it's not over moving. And also, if you want controlled the corners of your mouth that they're not who were spreading for one specific bottle. Eso listen. So home writing that that change everything just changed with my tongue on the time is that thing. But it's minimal, like all the vowels in the same place, ending kind of the same residence because that's that's what I want, that all vowels are in the same residence. So that's it. It's just like you practice this exercise where you put all your bottles in the same place , and then when you have a song, you practice without constants, and you make sure that when you're passing from one level to the next in with text off the song that you're not going in with different spaces, you know, keeping the same thing with the text off some and only then you will put the constants and you'll see that life gets so much easier like it is really, really. It takes like a huge weight out of your back. That then singing becomes were more like a way that is that line of any full where all my vowels are in middle. That's the constants, but we just sing on the valuables on That just keeps our life very, very easy. 9. Work With Patterns: have it we want to build is working with patterns on. And what I mean by this is figuring out a small pattern off like musical cutting. So that would be like, and you just one step by step because that allow you to have a very clear, like reception off registers or where, like, are difficult. Small sections off your voice on it will also give you like if you use this pattern, for example, every day you will get history it's on. Then you will be able to compare one day to the other as opposed, opposed to life. If every day you seeing something different, I wonder using scales the other day. You seeing trills the other day. You see, like the small pattern on the other day, you seem like jobs off laptops. Then you cannot compare your progress, and you cannot compare one day to the other. So figure out it's perfectly fine to come up with new patterns because they want to get bored. But figure out some patterns that you like that work on things that off tackle things that you want to work on and then do that consistently did that every day. Like if you find that it's difficult to do this, this pattern in your massage, then see how today I'm like, How do you feel about it in two weeks off after you have practiced it for like every day or every two days on It's like a way to keep your track on your progress patterns can be anything by his example, but it could be a scale, of course. Start with smaller patterns and that are just easier on then. Philip from there, but also sometimes smaller patterns are also more useful because you can just get very specific on those notes and concentrate. So, for example, one I like is Theo that slower? I'm going fastest for demonstration purpose. But I would analyze each time that I do it so like, how did I like that? Let me repeat that. Let's see if I can do that better. Okay, was that what do you see with patterns? You can really get specific. I'm really track your progress on. That's really useful to kind of helping you in teaching yourself Onda. Also, if you're working with a teacher also like tracking your progress and then bringing your questions to the teacher. Another very, very good thing about patterns is that you can get this part on the songs that your singing or arias repertoire, and then take the patterns from that. So once more, if we want to use to rejoice, you can take the pattern off the color. Turova. Rejoice on, Then do it in your war, Mom, Do it, you know, in a zone exercise for agility. Flexibility off the voice on that will help you a lot. Then, when you will see rejoice, you'll feel so comfortable because that's part of your daily routine. And also you have done it in so many different ways because you can sing it higher, lower. It's often Lauder whatever, um, indifferent tonalities off course, and that gives you a kind of experience with this better. And then when you have to sing that rejoices like, Oh, it's like nothing off course. It's like nothing. You have been doing that in seven different ways, with different approaches for a long time. Off course. Now, when you do it like this very ritualistic thing in this very difficult area, then off course it feels like nothing that's this really the best. That's like the Holy Grail off getting flexibility colored on difficult virtue, cystic things that you need to tackle. So whatever reason pattern that you're struggling with your repertoire bringing to your daily work. Onda also the other ready around like if you have a pattern that you're struggling, going find repertoire that has this kind of pattern. So that's, you know, like sometimes we also learned for music. Sometimes we proving the preparatory music itself from the practice that we are doing, because expression also plays a big role, sometimes in solving technical problems so plainly, both and, yeah, keep using patterns, using patterns and tracking your purpose. 10. Use Dynamics!: use dynamics. This should go without saying. But when we are beginning, it's easy to get, like I want to sing really well and then that goes with singing really allows for all the time. Andi, that's just not interesting. Play with your dynamics and be expressive, like play with surprises with penny symbols and, you know, just like embracing. If the expression off the song asks you to sing in a more intimate way, things that the music is full off clues to what I think you should say. Sometimes it is written off course on. Then you should respect what composer wrote, but sometimes it's not. Find the subject next to justify this choices on that will take you to a whole new level off musician. Shape off profession. Ality like people will take you way more seriously if you are already on the stage where you can use the emotions. That's our other line of music with the hammocks that's not being a painter and using different colors. And keep in mind that for some people it's better to avoid dynamics for a while just until they solve some basic technique stuff by four other people actually the expression off the music will help with technique. So you will see if you are in one of these extremes. Maybe you're thinking you are in one extreme in Italy to avoid dynamics that actually, if you want to try on, really just not think about it all. I'm just trying to express the raw emotion in the subtext off that music that you were singing Suddenly, some things in technique that you were like banging here, head over and over against. Suddenly they are solved. So just try it. And whatever the situation, for now, in the beginning, if you want a little bit more like intimidated or that's then for sure, dynamics are like a really big thing to pay attention to. They're, like, crucial a actually making music. 11. Keep Grounded Whatever Happens: this isn't having that is us much psychological as it is physical. You need to keep grounded. Whatever. What? It doesn't matter, like is the show must go on. You need todo uh, he's you have, like, a specifically difficult moments. Very ritualistic or very intense. Emotionally, you can grounds in your body. Uh, if you miss your entrance, you get grounded in your body. Or if you hear something from the public, you can ground it on. What I mean by keeping grounded is just keep the engagement with your money. Uh, hands in the case of, for example, that a very difficult phrases coming up for you to sing. It's easy sometimes to just go for it. And then we disconnect from the body like if it's a high note, for example, we just reach for it on. Then we disconnect from the body and we just make things even more We call. It was not difficult enough, you know, on sometimes it's like distractions that are going on Andi easily. We go away from our bodies, but also getting grammond in your mind like you're here. You're doing your job. You can see it's a job you can. You can also think this is something that I'm really enjoying. I going to let anything get in the way off me, giving my best. So always keep like, clear, grounded mindsets as well as like, grounded in your boy. 12. Cool Down & Build Muscle Memory: a wonderful habit that I discovered when I started singing professionally is that you should always leave your voice in the best shape possible way feel singing It is like strange. Somehow your high notes are if you somehow we're dealing with a little bit of attention while you were on the performance moments. Of course, when you are in this like moments off pressure, sometimes just do the best you can on sometimes a lot of times, you know you can do better. But in that moment when you realize that it was already too late and you need to think about the next thing, and that's what I was saying about skipping ground, whatever happens, Okay, I did this. Lost phrase was not the best, but it doesn't matter. That's thought is already not useful at the moment. So you have to keep on the good habit that you can build is where you finish this moment off performance, or maybe even a singing lesson that didn't go so well. That happens often. Hugh had a singing lesson that really went Where did they wanted to go? You know, Andi just maybe got tired of, um on things that that day. Don't finish today before going back to that and putting your voice with patients and just call in a good place. The cool down. It's for me almost as important as the warm up, because what I feel what I have discovered is that you leave your voice in a goose place in good shape, like in a good muscle memory. That's the thing. If you go to if you leave your voice in a good muscle memory the next day, that's muscle memory will be there. It's just like if you want to memorize something, you memorize it just before sleeping on. Then next day you kind off your brain process. Since this is the same thing, you need to cool down as if it would be a kind off warm up, like leaving your voice in a good, nice place. Like where I feel it's not tensed. It's just easy on you. Leave that for the next day. Even if you did that just five minutes, Uh, before you finish your day, it can be right after you have some I liked doing. That's like, I think it's an opera and I go to the bank stage and I saw doing scales. You phrase it well, but I just like living my voice in like I have been singing for two hours or three hours, and the pressure on that was not always 100% off what I can do if I we call retirement on my own. So I want to go back to that kind of safe space on Leave my Voice for the next day in a really, really nice, really nice shape. That's basically it. 13. Practicing and Motivation: There is no habit that survives without, you know, often practice Andi practice. Really, You know, practice makes the master. It's really is the perfect phrase. You know, if you want to achieve cost distance ton darts on anything, you need to keep putting in the work where there it's a good day. What stuff? Day. Whatever the excuse that you will find. I need to keep just realizing those are excuses and that you need to just putting in the work. Yes, sometimes that doesn't mean that you have to do it daily. It's just a matter off not giving up on believing that you will make progress progress, and you want to keep progress. If you are indigos technique in the good path, you will make progress. It's just just like that, singing It's not and material thing that was given to you, you know, there there's a part of talent, but the rest it's really putting in the work on being consistent. It's also important to burn ourselves out like once a day is more than enough. More than enough twice a week is perfectly fine. The importance is being also methodic with your work. It's not how much you do. Sometimes it's Holwell practice, so I hope those those little tapes with patterns also dio pulling them on the muscle. Memory helps you in practicing in a more intelligent way. Sometimes not practicing often comes with lack of motivation on that is very easily solved with just putting yourself in a situation off oppression where you really have to, like respond are like. For example, you can organize a recital where you know that you have to prepare for that. You can like a sign up for a solution, even if it's your first audition. And even if you don't like, have expectations to pass, it's just, I hope you passage, you know, like prepare for passing it. But in the end, even if you don't passage a t least you're like consistence in preparing for the audition. And that will give you the standard, as you will need for things that will come in the future. Eso It's not about like right now results. It's about building challenges that will give you the standard that you are wishing to like to achieve on. It could be also things that are way more simple. I just putting up a little concert for your friends. That's that's really brave. That's really hard. Thio, Thio, Thio like assume if you can do that taking anything, So just be creative about ideas to keep you going. You're working towards your goals on Don't give up. 14. Take part in this Project!: perfect time eso for this lesson. I have thought that I would be simple on guy just like you guys. Teoh share what we have it. We have it helped most. It doesn't really have to be from the ones that I told about in this class. It can be like they want to help you the most. Until now, wanted to have trying to moment. That is nothing this list on. And even though it's such a single project, I think this could bring so much value to all the colleagues that are also watching the lesson and that we have a discussion about what works with dozens. So it's really easy just typing. We'd have it helped it most on. We can just start a discussion about that discussion. I mean this sharing ideas, you know, that's that's how I learned most off the things it was actually with colleagues and with experience. And we like they leave speaking about singing and speaking Greek colleagues. What helps what doesn't what works on Bond? That's how I got so much knowledge. So let's do that here. Let's share our experience with habits. Andi share what actually works habits in your practice room, Andi. Actually, if I come up with any other habits that I think it's important. I also added on the comments that I am really looking for its Teoh hearing from you on what's working, what's not working so much. That's also important. Preparing these videos is also super interesting to hear from you. Like what he even knows what a struggling most re. What's like helping you lots and that will give you feedback for the upcoming years, so that's also a great thing. 15. Final Thoughts: I really hope that this habits tips tricks that I was sharing today help you along the way on just menial house promise going. I'm really enjoying doing these lessons on. It's such a joy to hear from people on. Also, if you have questions that you would like to see covert in these videos, just feel free.
