Some celebrities are no strangers to symbology. But for the most part, we’re left to wonder how pop culture icons would represent themselves visually if they had the chance.
That’s why we’re challenging you to make what was once old new again by designing heraldry (yes, this stuff) for the modern era. Freshen up your family crest skills with Aaron Draplin’s class Logo Design with Draplin: Secrets of Shape, Type and Color, then design a coat of arms for any modern figure (the wackier the better, so go big!). Translate their values, outlook and attitude into a creative graphic design and post the final product as a project in the class.
On April 22nd, we will select 10 winning projects to feature on our blog. Winners will also receive a signed copy of Aaron Draplin’s new book, Pretty Much Everything, and an annual Skillshare membership.
To enter, simply follow these steps:
1. Join the class Logo Design with Draplin: Secrets of Shape, Type and Color. If you’re already enrolled, you’re one step ahead!
2. Upload your modern coat of arms to the projects section by April 22nd at 11:59 PM EST (make sure to make it public!). If you already published a project to this class, no problem – you can always add another.
3. We will contact the winners via email on April 24th.
Looking forward to seeing what you create!
