Hello!

My name is Rachel and this is the first art class I've taken since middle school. I have wanted to take one for years and on a whim joined Skillshare and watched Ria's Sketch Book Magic course. It made a tremendous impact on me - Ria, thank you so much for your kindness, honesty, and openness when teaching. Because of you, at 36, I'm finally doing something I've always wanted to do, but never have, and for many of the reasons you said in your course. I imagine the same as a lot of people doing the 30-day Challenge, I'm putting myself out there by participating. I feel vunerable, naked, excited, invigorated...did I say vunerable? :-) I don't know a lot about technique but enjoy creating so my goal for doing this is to be disciplined with creating art and learn drawing techniques.

I'm not sure I'll post all 30, I'm already behind, but I'm going to try!

DAY FIVE - FEAST

I've been working on this one in my head the entire time I've been trying to gear myself up to draw hay and have something a little different in mind this time around. :-)

DAY FOUR - HAY

I really struggled with this one. It was hard to find inspiration in it for some reason, which is odd because I love farms and grew up scaling hay stacks. I decided to use color pencils, which also turned out to be something I did not enjoy. I'm not sure what it is - but I just don't get the same satisfaction I do from pens, markers and paint. I don't however view this one in a negative light - I've learned some things about myself as an artist! 1. I don't enjoy drawing hay and 2., I don't enjoy using color pencils!

DAY THREE - COLOR

24 different colors are represented here! I decided to use a page that had some bleed through from another drawing. I felt most comfortable drawing this one - it's my go-to doodle pattern.

DAY TWO - GOURDS

I found a video - "How to Draw Gourds" and so I decided to follow it as closely as possible. I feel pretty proud of this one!

DAY ONE - FALL

Fall makes me think of a warm day with a blue sky and lots of PLAID! I pretty much freehanded this but did watch a few videos on how to draw plaid.
