This class is co-taught For the Makers co-founders Janet Crowther and Katie Covington.

We’ve studied jewelry design at the Fashion Institute of Technology and Penland School of Crafts. Between us we have designed for everyone from Target to Henri Bendels. Our work has appeared in almost every fashion publication.

By working with companies like Kate Spade, Anthropologie and Marc Jacobs we learned the ins and outs of dealing with suppliers, both in New York’s fashion district and abroad. As the constant go-tos for friends looking for the perfect bead, ribbon or fabric and champions of small wholesalers and suppliers, we started For the Makers to create the resource we had always wished we existed. We believe DIY should be fun and easy. It shouldn’t involve trips to multiple stores and blogs to gather everything you need. We created For the Makers because we know how hard it is to find quality materials out there. We’re one part magazine, one part coolest craft store ever. We source the best materials from all over the world and deliver them to your door, letting you skip straight to the fun part. For the Makers has appeared in Martha Stewart, Forbes, Lucky Magazine, and New York Magazine.
