Ellie Brown is a native of Boston, MA. She received her B.F.A. in photography in 1997 and her M.F.A in 2002. She has received numerous awards including: a Pollock Krasner Foundation Grant, Leeway Foundation grant, and funded artist residencies internationally and nationally. Ellie has been photographing girls’ issues since 1996 and making altered bookwork since 2002. She has been teaching college since 2000 and in 2008 she taught as a visiting professor at the College of Design at the University of Ulsan, in S.Korea. Additionally, Ellie works with youth and art in urban communities. She is the founder of POP!sicle Artist Marketing. Her BAG project was funded by United States Artists and has been exhibited extensively. Ellie is the playwright and producer for Dear Diary, Bye., staged in April of 2014 at Plays and Players Theater. Currently, she is documenting her father’s early onset Alzheimer’s disease. After finished a residency as a Community Builder in Residence in Woonsocket, RI, she now resides in Providence, RI.
