Before I was an entrepreneur I spent 3+ years learning front and back end web development with Ruby/Rails the hard way. In a former life worked as a SysAdmin for 5+ years patiently explaining complex technological concepts to people with little to no technical understanding.

I remember vividly what it was like to feel overwhelmed by the task of learning to program. I would blindly copy examples from programming books, hoping that it would all start to make sense at some point. After I became a l337 h4x0r, I knew I had to reach back and help others learn learn, hopefully with 10% of the time, energy, and frustration.
