Community Guidelines

We feel everyone should be a teacher as well as a student, so we encourage you to read through our expectations of both. Though no matter what role you play, be it student, teacher, student/teacher, teacher/student, you should aspire to positively contribute to the learning experience of the community.

For Teachers

  1. Fostering learning is the goal

Always remember that the reason you’re standing in front of all your students is to enrich their lives by sharing your skills.

  2. Make it interesting and unique

Keep your class titles and content compelling. If you’re taking on a tried-and-true subject, find a new and unique angle through which you can explore.

  3. Be organized, use a lesson plan

Your students will learn best when you have a well thought-out approach to teaching your class. Don’t wing it. If you need any help in assembling a lesson plan, check out the teacher resource guide.

  4. Don’t teach students how to do anything illegal, shady, or unethical

We really don’t need to explain this one.

For Students

  1. Be respectful in class

While we encourage you to be an active participant, leave the floor open to other students in your class so that they can get involved too. Be courteous when others are talking. And always show up on time.

  2. Get involved in the learning process

Be active in discussions, ask questions, and be sure to let the teacher know your learning goals. Your involvement supports your learning as well as the learning of those around you.

  3. Write helpful reviews

Reviews are meant to help other users make a decision; they are not a space for rants or love poems. If you really enjoyed a class, mention those things the teacher did to make it so great. If you were disappointed by a class, don’t attack the teacher. Instead, list the things you think they could do better next time. Hateful speech will simply not be tolerated.

  4. Resolve your complaints, don’t let them stew

If you feel like a class you attended wasn’t what you expected, or you didn’t learn what was promised, we recommend you first try to work it out with the teacher. Be respectful, but straightforward in explaining your issue. If you can’t come to an agreement, reach out to us and we’ll see how we can help.

  5. Pursue lifelong learning

Our goal is to create a community that allows you to learn anything from anyone. Take advantage of it!
