Not Your High School Creative Writing Class

Through a series of directed writing exercises, we will explore what you have to say, and tap into the well of words that’s been bubbling under the surface of your daily life. We will discuss mining for material and how to shape your words and work.

This course is perfect for those who never had a Creative Writing course, for those who miss it, and for those who just know they have something to say. We will generate text through in-class writing exercises and I will give you many tips to continue your creative work. This course is for both new and practicing writers of all genres. Bring the tools you are most comfortable writing with and relax at a this supportive and generative experience for both new and practicing writers.

Kathleen Volk Miller

Kathleen Volk Miller is co-editor of Painted Bride Quarterly, co-director of the Drexel Publishing Group, and an Associate Teaching Professor at Drexel University. She is a weekly blogger (Thursdays) for Philadelphia Magazine's Philly Post. Volk Miller writes fiction and essays, with work in publications such as Opium, thesmartset.org, the New York Times Motherlode and with upcoming work in Drunken Boat.
